Here are some of my favourite looks from the Resort 2014 collections. Block colours, oversize shapes, minimalism and subtle prints are dominating; it's refreshing to see something a little more simple but well constructed on the runway. I'm home for the holidays and it's meant to snow like crazy over the next week so getting my fashion fix online is essential. Blankets the new black in Winter 2013, anyone?

It's important to think of your wardrobe as a whole when making purchases in order to keep it 'consistent' I read somewhere today. I definitely think this is true and take my wardrobe as an example - nothing matches. I'm happy to announce that it is getting better, but sometimes it's easy to slip back into the see-like-buy before thinking habit.

Style Files is a new series on the blog to help with all things wardrobe building related.

Starting with "The Basics" here are the staple pieces everyone needs in their wardrobes. Staples are the timeless pieces that you can pair with anything. Give or take the colours; maybe chuck in a denim shirt or swap out the white tee for a grey singlet depending on what you like and you'll soon have the building blocks to a functional wardrobe.

Think of it as baby steps, you must walk before you run.

I've been talking for a while now about how I really want to start sharing more personal posts. This means delving into unknown waters (e.g. new types of posts). My love of beauty, make up and videos are just a few ideas and hints to what's coming your way. As for this post, I love scrapbooks because they're so inspiring all mixed together - something you miss if you look at an image by itself. Scrapbooks are good for everything, from outfits and do it yourself projects to photo shoot ideas. I suggest trying it yourself and keeping it around your room for those days that too bleak.

Wearing: Lonely Hearts Dress (worn underneath), Glassons Hat, Sass & Bide Knit

Lonely Hearts always have the best prints in their collections and this dress is no exception. The black and white print is similar to houndstooth, but better. A monochromatic outfit is my go to for Winter and this big black hat is a staple piece that makes any outfit look more 'refined'. If you're scared to pull off a complete salt and pepper outfit then piece it with a bright coloured statement necklace like I have here. As for the surprise in the last outfit post I mentioned - I cut off all my hair! I'm still deciding whether to go shorter or not but it definitely needed a good chop. What do you think?

All I long for right now is a nice walk through the bush up the hillside. It's been so long since I've been outside for any other reason but to grab food. University has really taken over lately, so much so I feel like I haven't done anything else in weeks. Holidays are right around the corner though, I can finally go do things I've been planning for months - and bring you all along of course!

Where has the time gone? With nearly four years come and gone I can't believe I've been blogging for so long. Looking back, there has been so many things happened. People have come and gone, there have been ups and downs, but my blog is the only thing that has remained the same. It's nice to think I can go back and remember where I was, what I was doing and how I was feeling when I made some of the posts on here. Although this is a fashion and inspiration blog, it's also a semi diary of my life. Whether you're new here or a long time follower, it's nice to be able to share a part of me with you all. Wildfox Pre-Fall 2013

These photos seriously remind me of home. I don't know if you've been to Central Otago but it really does have some amazing scenery and hidden gems. It reminds me to make the most of the time I have there these holidays and explore. It's so easy to overlook places only because they're so familiar. I love the knit leggings and oversized pants in this collection particularly, both look overly cosy. All the colours are dreamy, I'll be on the lookout for these pieces this Winter.

Stolen Girlfriends Club x Urban Outfitters

I honestly can say that if you're a student and your aren't a fan of Stolen Girlfriends Club there is something wrong with you - yes I did just go that far. Luckily enough for us students they've released a diffusion line 'The Fates' on Urban Outfitters and created a seven piece collection all under $150. The epitome of chilled out, these images (taken and styled by Zara Mirkin) match the pieces perfectly.. where's Summer when you need it?

It's taken me forever but I finally got an outfit post up. I got this jacket last week and I'm already in love with it. I've never been a denim jacket girl but the ribbing on the sleeves and the cut out back is right up my alley. A good trans-seasonal piece is always worth investing in and this will take you from Winter straight through to Summer. If you like my rings make sure to watch this space too - one lucky reader might just be walking away with one soon. I've also got another little surprise but that's to come..

Lately I've been trying to downsize my closet to clothes that I actually would wear on the daily, seeing it dwindle down to a black, white and striped collection. Although I love print, I find I get bored of it quickly and these pieces end up making their way to the back of the rack. Whilst catching up on some of the latest fashion weeks (I've been busy, ok!?) I have fallen in love with the all the pastel shades spotted everywhere. Although pastel isn't a new idea, I love seeing it worn differently - from fully coordinated outfits of one shade to candy coloured coats. You can call these collages mood boards for my future wardrobe.

The Autumn leaves are out at home and light up the orchard beautifully, but with that comes dropping temperatures. I always struggle in the cooler months because I never have anything substantially warm to wear. Luckily I've decided to invest in some more appropriate attire. Coming home is always fun since, like my Mum always says, "it's Christmas everyday for you" as I'm welcomed home by a stack of parcels. They call it a shopping addiction, I call it being prepared.

Don't you hate the days where you feel like you have everything to do but nothing to do, at the same time? Me too. Finally managing to get through some of the many emails that have been waiting for me. Lately, the florist down the road from us has had the most beautiful flower bouquets on display and they're all too tempting. If only flowers would last forever... maybe that's why I love floral prints?

There was no hope of taking outfit photos today with the weather the way it is.

Today we have had rain, wind, thunder, lightening and earthquakes all within a few hours. My reluctance to get out of bed was at an all time high, I did manage to make it to Uni though (even if the library was lined with water). I thought I'd share some new additions to my room that I've acquired in the last week or so. I had never read the magazine Aesthetica before but now I definitely recommend it. Actually, I have to admit I haven't actually read any of it but the photos are gorgeous, especially of old school New York. For some reason I lost my Russh just before these photos were taken but the latest issue is good too. Speaking of gorgeous, how amazing is my new underwear from Emma Highfield?! I wasn't sure whether it was weird or not to share but they were too pretty not to - perve away. The new black and white top and dres are my new additions to the 'minimalistic' wardrobe I'm attempting to create since I started to have real issues with my clothing. Trust me, it wasn't pretty. As for make up, here are some recent favourites. My collection has grown 300% in the last year which probably isn't a good thing but seriously I had about 3 products when I started so it's okay.. sort of. As for the Zoe & Morgan photo, it's a nice little preview of what's to come, get excited!

At the risk of sounding cheesy or like some whacked out hippie, I'm going to give you some advice. Enjoy life; don't just live. It's so easy to get lost in the days, just getting by. You don't know how much time you have, so why waste it? The best advice I found recently is that "everyone is going to judge you regardless of what you do, so do whatever you want anyway and ~~fuck~~ what everyone else thinks". Explore, love, trust, smile, laugh. See all the colours around you, shine like the sun. Do what you want, what makes you happy, don't play it safe. The best things are found outside your comfort zone. And if I'm honestly: in some ways, I think this is more of a reminder for myself..

It has always been easy for me to say I would get a tattoo but if you asked me what of I wouldn't have an answer. Since I was 15 my friend and I have been planning on getting one and as I approach my 20th birthday I feel like it's now or never - perfect send off from teen hood wouldn't you agree? So for now I'm just writing down ideas but when it's set in stone you'll be the first to know.

I love that this piece from Zara is a skort, it's perfect for the infamous windy Wellington weather. My skirts have now been retired to the back of my wardrobe until it's safe to wear out tights since I've grown tired of flashing strangers down the street. I also rediscovered this body chain I made right when I started this blog in my jewellery box that I probably haven't worn since. It's super easy to make so if you like it give it a go.

Sometimes I get stuck for outfits - do you stick with one style category or do you explore all? At the moment I'm just collecting photos because I haven't decided. With the weather cooling down I can't wait to buy oversized knits though and drink tea in bed. How did you start your blog?

I started my blog while I was still at school because I'd had past websites and was just into that kind of thing when my friend introduced me to fashion blogs. We both made one, I did have one before this but I got sick of it pretty quickly and then I made Stolen Inspiration! My friend didn't continue hers however but I'm trying to get her to make another one :)

What made you begin?

Well I'm not really sure if anything really made me start it but I just really wanted to do something in my spare time since I wasn't doing much and so Stolen Inspiration was born!

How did you start to get recognised?

I'm not really sure how my blog really gained followers in the first place, there has never been one point in time where I gained a large amount of followers. I think people have just slowly made their way to my blog by accident almost. I have had this blog almost four years though so of course I'm going to be more known now than someone new to the blogging world.

What do you edit your photos with?

I only use photoshop so that's with resizing and editing.

What style do you like most? like chic, or classy, or anything?

As much as I'd love to pick one style I really couldn't. I think I just love comfy, casual outfits that look like they're a lot more put together than they really are. I'm a street style type girl at the moment but I can never pick a style to stick with for a very long period of time. I do love minimalism though!

Where are you from?

I'm from New Zealand. I do travel a lot since I live in the south island but go to university in the north island so I'm all over the place.

What do you study at Uni?

I'm studying a Bachelor of Fashion Design and Business Communication

What do you want to do once you finish studying?

Travelling is a give in but it's definitely something I want to do a lot of. I don't plan on staying in New Zealand after I finish so trying out different areas of the world is a definite must before I try find a job.

How did you get so many followers?

I wish I could give you a step by step guide on how to get followers but to be honest I wouldn't have a clue how I've got the followers I've got. I guess just commenting on peoples blogs, talking to different people and hosting giveaways are a few ways to help. Just blog what you love and know and people will enjoy your content so much more than someone who's just focused on getting followers and doing what everyone else does. Just have fun, blogging is for you, it's not about the followers.

Will you be going to NZFW this year?

Sitting here on holiday with nothing but work to do causes the hours to all blend together. At least there is nothing to distract me which wouldn't of been the case if I was surrounded by Wellington Fashion Week. Although I would of loved to go, Uni is my first priority. That and family of course. But as it stands, the internet is my main source of fashion inspiration because that's all it can be for now.

The days are getting shorter and the temperature is slowly dropping but Autumn still remains my favourite season. With Easter come and gone it reminds me how fast time goes by. I hope everyone had a great weekend and got lots of goodies. This dress is perfect for the Autumn winds with its long sleeves and the Karen Walker frilly sleeves has always been a weakness of mine. Unfortunately this dress is sold out now (no surprises) but you should definitely check out other pieces with this print - the milky way is so cute!
