I was working on their adorable dual cake smash session and realized I never posted their newborn pictures so, lucky you, you get a little of both sessions today. It's fun to compare the pictures from the separate sessions and see how much they have changed. What cuties.

Back to School Minis

How? How can it be this time of year already? Summer is my absolute favorite and sadly, it always seems to fly by. While I'm desperately wishing for a few more ~~weeks~~ months of summer vacation my kiddos are more than ready to head back to school. Especially my soon to be 4th grader. She can't wait for friends, clothes and other "stuff". I'm pretty sure "stuff"means schoolwork as I caught her giving herself practice tests the other day. How is she my child?

Enough rambling. Back to school minis are here (whether we like it or not ;).

Louie + Jillian (Part One) // Utah Wedding Photographer

You guys! I am SO excited to share this wedding with you! It was beautiful and dreamy and oh, so much fun. I've decided to break it down into parts so as to not overwhelm ~~you~~ me ;). First up- getting ready. Getting ready pictures are often some of my favorite captures of the day. I love the anticipation, excitement and nervousness that is in the air. Louis and Jillian had more time than usual to get suited up. One of the main roads leading to the venue was shut down because of a fire which pushed the wedding back almost an hour as guests had no way to arrive. I was impressed by how Louis and Jillian made the best of the situation. Jillian went above and beyond to make her big day memorable for her bridesmaids with sweet notes on their shoes and personalized hangers. Louis and Jillian also took time before the wedding to do a gift exchange via members of the wedding party. Soon after that the bride's room quickly turned into a dance party until it was time to head down for the ceremony. Even with the setbacks it was a fantastic start to an amazing day.

Valentine Minis

I'm getting a late start on these babies this year. In fact, I was having a hard time finding a date that would work for them. At one very sad point I thought I was going to have to pass on Valentine minis altogether. I really look forward to these short and festive sessions so I was really excited when I was able to make it work- even if I wish I would have been able to swing an earlier date ;). I'm going short and sweet with today's post. Lindi was such a little lady during her cake smash session. Her mom and I were cracking up as we watched her carefully eat pinch by pinch. After a few small satisfying bites, she was done. Girlfriend is all about intuitive eating, apparently ;).

Noah// Utah Birth Photographer

Bright and early one morning in May I arrived at the hospital with a smile on my face and my camera bag slung over my shoulder. It was eerily quiet in the halls as I made my way back to Labor and Delivery. Rachel, a friend and client of many years, had gone in the night before to be induced and had been laboring all night. According to "the plan" Noah was scheduled to arrive at any moment. Noah apparently had a plan of his own and didn't arrive until almost 12 hours later. I guess that goes to show the best of things can't be rushed ;). When Noah finally made his much anticipated entrance I was moved to tears as I watched the reaction of those surrounding him: his sweet mom, who was utterly exhausted, his dad, who had kept everyone laughing throughout the long day, and his dedicated grandma and aunt. What a lucky little boy to have such a loving welcome crew. I feel honored I was able to be there and document such a raw and beautiful day.

Super Finn: Utah Newborn Photographer

What a fun session. I was absolutely ecstatic when Finn's mom and dad requested a superhero theme. Finn was such a sweet and easy going little guy and as an extra bonus I got schooled on my superheroes. Did you know Captain America doesn't wear a cape and Superman doesn't wear a mask? I'm pretty sure that's what they said anyway ;).

Back-To-School Mini Sessions

I can hardly believe all my babes are old enough to be in school (of one kind or another). That's right, for 5 whole hours a week I will be child-free. Man, I'm going to miss my mini sidekicks. I am, however, already planning on how I am going to spend those 5 hours. I'm thinking biking with the hubs, long runs and some relaxing reading. Ha! Those 5 hours will probably end up being spent running errands and catching up on editing but a girl can dream, right? ;)

Anyway, on to the deets of the minis!

This kid. What a character! I took his one-year-old pictures last year and it was fun to see how much he has grown and changed. He was full of smiles, laughs and crazy dance moves for this session. I kind of wanted to keep him ;).

Oh, sweet little Emerson. What a cutie. He made it quite clear at the beginning of his session he was not a fan of pictures. After some snuggles and cooercing from mom, though, he quickly settled down and agreed to pose as some cute cuddly animals. What a trooper ;).

Dallin & Leslie// Utah Wedding Photographer

I was getting all ready to post Dallin and Leslie's wedding when I realized I still hadn't posted their engagements. So backtrack a bit more I did ;). The day of their engagements it was freezing and dreary outside so we sought refuge in the library. It was perfect. These two were so much fun.

The Christensens: Utah Family Photographer

One of the things I love most about my job is getting to meet new people. This family was so much fun to get to know! As the pictures will tell- they were easy-going, vibrant and loving. And the little one? Man, she was fantastic! She kept me laughing the whole shoot. Whenever we needed to get a smile out of her we would simply request she do her "crazy nae"and she would start busting out some serious dance and wiggle moves and then would laugh at our reaction. Loved it!

Annalee Rose

Sweet little Annalee Rose. Sigh. What a precious baby girl. Annalee was a little older than most of the newborns I photograph because of a short stint in the NICU. I was a little worried that she would be past the sleepy, cuddly, newborn phase that is perfect for pictures. Turns out I had absolutely nothing to worry about. Annalee was a dream to photograph. She snoozed away through the portrait part of the session and woke up happy just in time for some heart-warming family pictures.

My little guy, Canyon, loves to get his pictures taken. Lucky me! That is, except for days like this one where the temperature was hovering around 0 degrees and he kept on insisting on one more "cheeeeeeese". Not even the bribe of fresh baked cupcakes from his sister could woo him inside. What a character.

Bear Lake: Utah Family Photographer

I adore this family. I have been taking pictures of them for years now. I have taken numerous seasonal and birthday pictures for them and have loved watching all their kiddos grow. This specific extended family session of all of them had been in the works for a couple of years. The family has a cabin at Bear Lake and wanted to do their extended family session there. The problem was there were a lot of very different and very tight schedules to coordinate. We lucked out and were able to make a day this past fall work. I think ALL extended family sessions should be as fun as this one was. Lots of playing, sand and water. Hard to go wrong with that.

This little guy makes the 4th boy in his family! 4th! When I had my little guy I couldn't help but wish for a whole house full of boys. Boys are just that fun. Watching this sweet family confirmed my feelings. What a lucky little guy to have 3 big brothers and amazing parents in his corner.
