Now, Stone Roots is using it to create distinctive tops for kitchen cabinets and islands, bathroom vanities and tables. When properly colored and finished, a concrete countertop looks like natural stone or maybe solid-surface material - not a sidewalk or garage floor.

Concrete Interiors helps put the WOW into your project, whether it's a newly remodeled kitchen or bath. People want to have something they can show off, not something that mimics what their friends or neighbors have. Concrete allows the imagination to go wild with its versatility and uniqueness, as well as color choices and edge details that bring a unique warmth into the home. Concrete also brings a special touch to old fireplaces with mantels, hearths and surrounds. Outdoor kitchens are also a natural for the material

Contact Us
Stone Roots
Phone: 717-943-2289
Fax: 717-695-0663
info@stonerootsinc.com

Concrete Patios

Concrete Patios
Concrete patios, sometimes referred to as cement patios, provide the perfect sanctuary for outdoor living spaces because they are often connected to the house and blend the interior with the exterior living areas. For example, homeowners can match the stone facade of their house by installing decorative concrete to create a stone patio without the expense of installing traditional individual stones.

The swimming pool industry sees that trend, too. In fact, pools are getting smaller and are playing a less dominant role in the back yard.

The Pool and Spa Institute says the pool is just one amenity – an increasing number of homeowners are going all out with outdoor kitchens, furnished seating areas, fireplaces, decorative concrete patios, pizza ovens, elaborate water features, and more.

Homeowners want to enjoy their homes, but they also see upgrading their back yards as an investment. Creating the look of an authentic stone patio, or slate patio, or cobblestone patio is more economical to install using decorative concrete, and adds value to the home.

Contact Us
Stone Roots
Phone: 717-943-2289
Fax: 717-695-0663
info@stonerootsinc.com

Specialty Floors

Specialty Floors
Staining concrete is one of the most popular applications for transforming concrete slabs. Often referred to as colored concrete, homeowners, designers and builders are drawn to stained concrete because of the unique outcome that can be achieved combining colors, application techniques, etc., on cement flooring and other substrates. The results are limited only by the creativity of those involved in the stained concrete process. Because of concrete's porous qualities and neutral tone, it is the perfect blank canvas for topically applied color. Using acid-based chemical stains, decorative concrete contractors have been able to achieve rich, earth-toned color schemes resembling natural stone, marble, wood, or even leather, giving a completely custom look to cement floors, concrete driveways, patios, walkways, pool decks, concrete walls and more.

Most acid stains are a mixture of water, hydrochloric acid, and acid-soluble metallic salts. They work by penetrating the surface and reacting chemically with the hydrated lime (calcium hydroxide) in the concrete. The acid in the stain lightly etches the surface, allowing the metallic salts to penetrate more easily. Once the stain reacts, it becomes a permanent part of the concrete and won't fade, chip off, or peel away. Like stains for wood, acid-based stains are translucent and the color they produce will vary depending on the color and condition of the substrate they are applied to. Each concrete slab will accept the stain in varying degrees of intensity, creating natural color variations that bring character and distinction to each project. What acid stains don't offer is a broad color selection. You'll mostly find them in a limited array of subtle earth tones, such as tans, browns, terra cottas, and soft blue-greens. But newer products on the market such as water-based penetrating stains and water- and solvent-based concrete dyes are greatly expanding the artist's palette with colors ranging from soft pastels to vivid reds, oranges, yellows, and purples.

Contact Us
Stone Roots
Phone: 717-943-2289
Fax: 717-695-0663
info@stonerootsinc.com

Pool Surrounds

Pool Surrounds
One of the biggest trends in outdoor design today is a decorative concrete pool surround, a colored, textured and inviting area surrounding the pool that does more than provide a safe, slip-resistant deck for sunbathing and barbecuing. Concrete pool surrounds are now given nearly as much attention as the interior design of the home.

Decorative concrete has opened the doors to creating pool surrounds that complement the exterior of the home, meld with the outdoor environment, and replicate exotic and traditionally expensive materials such as slate, stone or even wood.

The benefits of concrete are many. It can provide an extremely durable surface, as compared to a wooden deck or even stone. With the new techniques for stamping and applying decorative concrete, any look can be created at a fraction of the cost.

Contact Us
Stone Roots
Phone: 717-943-2289
Fax: 717-695-0663
info@stonerootsinc.com

Welcome to Stone Roots

Welcome to Stone Roots

Concrete designs are one of the top trends for concrete patios, concrete floors, entryways, countertops, pool decks and much more.
