If you’ve come to this site seeking valid information on how to stop smoking weed. Then look no further stop smoking pot offers the most comprehensive information available on the web to help you quit your marijuana addiction for good!

Millions of people struggle with the habit of smoking weed daily. People tend to believe there is no marijuana side effects and you cant get addicted since there aren’t any chemical properties but that is far from the truth.

A common misconception of marijuana is that its much like cigarettes and that they are both PHYSICALLY addictive and it is so very hard to stop smoking them because of cravings within the body. This is in fact very wrong!

This idea probably came about because to most people, a joint and a cigarrette are the same since they are both smoked and they share the same if not most of the effects. But unlike tobacco smoking, Marijuana doesn’t contain any chemicals that can be physically addictive to people. Instead, the feelings that marijuana can induce is psychologically addictive. This means that the urge to continue smoking pot is more about the person wanting to gain a “high” rather than the body needing the drug to stop its pain.Trying to stop smoking pot is hard because the addict ends up craving for it subconsciously.

Because of the reasons mentioned above, quitting marijuana can be a long and difficult process. And, the best way to do this is to breakdown the process into several steps that would make the end result seem easier to reach. No one wants to go through something difficult and instant processes can’t help you fix the problems. So, changing your perspective can help you go far. The point is: It’s a long road, but you got to start somewhere.

Reasons to Quit Smoking Pot

It is bad for your Health.

It causes short term memory loss.

It can affect your reproductive organs

It can harm your children

IS THIS NOT ENOUGH TO MAKE YOU WANT TO QUIT?

What you need to do

1.) First and foremost YOU have to want to quit for YOURSELF. If your going to quit you gotta have the inner desire to want to quit smoking marijuana. We believe quitting for any other reason other then your self is just leading to a temporary break. You need to want to quit so badly that you won’t let anything get in your way.

2.) Change your environment. It is important to remember once you make the decision to stop smoking pot that you avoid people and places where there will be pot smoking going on. This is not to say that you will never be able to be around marijuana again, but it is important that you keep yourself a safe distance.

3.) Develop a strategy. Half the battle is developing a efficient strategy. The other half is executing the plan! Once you have the desire to stop smoking marijuana, you need to take that desire and harness it into action!

4.) Get HELP. Where a lot of people falter when trying to stop smoking weed is not asking for help. There is nothing wrong with asking for help when you have a problem and marijuana addiction is a serious problem. With that said there are many quit smoking pot programs available on the web some more effective then others. Based on a survey conducted from our viewers and actually reviewing the program ourself. We have found The Cannabis Coach to be the most effective program available and we firmly stand behind it.

Could I Become Chemically Dependent on Marijuana?

Yes. When you’re chemically dependent on marijuana, it means you crave it and you need to use more and more to get the same effect. You may have withdrawal symptoms when you stop using it, such as depressed feelings, trouble sleeping or nausea. Because marijuana is a lot stronger now than it used to be, people are also more likely to abuse it and become dependent on it than they were in the past.

Addicted to Marijuana?

Marijuana addiction is simply an uncontrollable urge to possess and use the drug. According to the APA, people who meet 3 or more of the following characteristics meet the medical criteria for marijuana addiction

The following addiction criteria are based on those from the DSM-IV Manual of the APA.

Do you have a marijuana tolerance? Do you need a greater amount to get high than you needed when first using?

When you stop using marijuana do you feel withdrawal symptoms? Or, do you take another substance (alcohol, cocaine, opiates, etc.) to keep from feeling marijuana withdrawal symptoms?

Do you often smoke more marijuana in a session or day than you planned on?

Do you often feel like you need to cut back on your use? Or, do you sometimes try to moderate your use (or quit using) and fail?

Does your marijuana habit take up a lot of time, whether it is time spent using, recovering from use, trying to score or getting money to score?

Has your use of marijuana caused you to quit or reduce your involvement in any work, recreational or social activity that used to be important to you?

Do you keep smoking even after realizing that your use of marijuana harms you mentally, psychologically or physically?

Marijuana Addiction Statistics

More people enter into public drug treatment for marijuana than for any other illegal drug.
The Substance Abuse and Mental health Administration (SAMHSA) estimates that about 15 million Americans use marijuana in any given month and that about 4.3 million Americans use the substance at levels consistent with abuse or dependence. Marijuana is, by far, the most commonly used and abused illicit drug in America.

More people get help at publicly funded substance abuse treatment programs in America for marijuana than for any other illicit drug. Marijuana users make up 16.1% of treatment admissions, heroin users make up 13.7% and crack cocaine users make up 9.9%.

Withdrawal Symptoms of Marijuana

Those dependent on marijuana will experience a syndrome of withdrawal symptoms when trying to quit using. Marijuana withdrawal symptoms aren’t life threatening (as with alcohol) nor are they severe (as with heroin or other opiates) but they are uncomfortable, for many they are surprising and they can often lead to relapse. As yet, no medications are available to counter marijuana withdrawal symptoms.

Some of the signs and symptoms of marijuana withdrawal include:

Insomnia (often occurring)

Headache (often occurring)

A loss of appetite

Feelings of restlessness

Irritability (or aggression)

Anxiety

Nausea

Marijuana craving

“When you stop smoking pot withdrawal symptoms can last with some intensity from a few days to a week.”

Marijuana Smoking Side Effects

The following are some of the common side effects of marijuana use:

Trouble remembering things

Slowed reaction time

Difficulty concentrating

Sleepiness

Anxiety

Paranoia (feeling that people are “out to get you”)

Altered time perception

Red, bloodshot eyes

Most marijuana users are not aware of the marijuana side effects long term. It makes some people fall out of touch with there own reality lose interest in school, work, relationships and other activities. It may also cause legal problems. Using marijuana can be especially dangerous in certain situations, such as when you are driving, because your reaction time is slower. This make it more difficult to react to a dangerous situation, which could cause an accident.

Physical Effects

The following are some of the common physical marijuana side effects:

Tremors (shaking)

Nausea

Headache

Decreased coordination

Breathing problems

Increased appetite

Reduced blood flow to the brain

Changes in the reproductive organs

You can see nothing good comes from smoking marijuana, kick the habbit and stop smoking pot.

Like tobacco, marijuana contains many chemicals that can hurt the lungs and cause cancer. One marijuana cigarette can cause more damage to the lungs than many tobacco cigarettes because marijuana has more tar in it and is usually smoked without filters.

How Does Marijuana Affect the Brain?

Scientists have learned a great deal about how THC acts in the brain to produce its many effects. When someone smokes marijuana, THC rapidly passes from the lungs into the bloodstream, which carries the chemical to the brain and other organs throughout the body.

THC acts upon specific sites in the brain, called cannabinoid receptors, kicking off a series of cellular reactions that ultimately lead to the “high” that users experience when they smoke marijuana. Some brain areas have many cannabinoid receptors; others have few or none. The highest density of cannabinoid receptors are found in parts of the brain that influence pleasure, memory, thinking, concentrating, sensory and time perception, and coordinated movement.

Not surprisingly, marijuana intoxication can cause distorted perceptions, impaired coordination, difficulty with thinking and problem solving, and problems with learning and memory. Research has shown that, in chronic users, marijuana’s adverse impact on learning and memory can last for days or weeks after the acute effects of the drug wear off. As a result, someone who smokes marijuana every day may be functioning at a suboptimal intellectual level all of the time.

Research into the effects of long-term cannabis use on the structure of the brain has yielded inconsistent results. It may be that the effects are too subtle for reliable detection by current techniques. A similar challenge arises in studies of the effects of chronic marijuana use on brain function. Brain imaging studies in chronic users tend to show some consistent alterations, but their connection to impaired cognitive functioning is far from clear. This uncertainty may stem from confounding factors such as other drug use, residual drug effects, or withdrawal symptoms in long-term chronic users.

Effects of Marijuana on the Lungs

Someone who smokes marijuana regularly may have many of the same respiratory problems that tobacco smokers have. These individuals may have daily cough and phlegm, symptoms of chronic bronchitis, and more frequent chest colds. Continuing to smoke marijuana can lead to abnormal functioning of lung tissue injured or destroyed by marijuana smoke.

Regardless of the THC content, the amount of tar inhaled by marijuana smokers and the level of carbon monoxide absorbed are three to five times greater than among tobacco smokers. This may be due to the marijuana users inhaling more deeply and holding the smoke in the lungs.

Effects on Heart Rate and Blood Pressure

Recent findings indicate that smoking marijuana while shooting up cocaine has the potential to cause severe increases in heart rate and blood pressure. In one study, experienced marijuana and cocaine users were given marijuana alone, cocaine alone, and then a combination of both. Each drug alone produced cardiovascular effects; when they were combined, the effects were greater and lasted longer. The heart rate of the subjects in the study increased 29 beats per minute with marijuana alone and 32 beats per minute with cocaine alone. When the drugs were given together, the heart rate increased by 49 beats per minute, and the increased rate persisted for a longer time. The drugs were given with the subjects sitting quietly. In normal circumstances, an individual may smoke marijuana and inject cocaine and then do something physically stressful that may significantly increase risks of overload on the cardiovascular system.

Effects of Heavy Marijuana Use on Learning and Social Behavior

A study of college students has shown that critical skills related to attention, memory, and learning are impaired among people who use marijuana heavily, even after discontinuing its use for at least 24 hours. Researchers compared 65 “heavy users,” who had smoked marijuana a median of 29 of the past 30 days, and 64 “light users,” who had smoked a median of 1 of the past 30 days. After a closely monitored 19- to 24-hour period of abstinence from marijuana and other illicit drugs and alcohol, the undergraduates were given several standard tests measuring aspects of attention, memory, and learning. Compared to the light users, heavy marijuana users made more errors and had more difficulty sustaining attention, shifting attention to meet the demands of changes in the environment, and in registering, processing, and using information. The findings suggest that the greater impairment among heavy users is likely due to an alteration of brain activity produced by marijuana.

Longitudinal research on marijuana use among young people below college age indicates those who used have lower achievement than the non-users, more acceptance of deviant behavior, more delinquent behavior and aggression, greater rebelliousness, poorer relationships with parents, and more associations with delinquent and drug-using friends.

Research also shows more anger and more regressive behavior (thumb sucking, temper tantrums) in toddlers whose parents use marijuana than among the toddlers of non-using parents.

Effects of Marijuana on Pregnancy

Any drug of abuse can affect a mother’s health during pregnancy, and this is a time when she should take special care of herself. Drugs of abuse may interfere with proper nutrition and rest, which can affect good functioning of the immune system. Some studies have found that babies born to mothers who used marijuana during pregnancy were smaller than those born to mothers who did not use the drug. In general, smaller babies are more likely to develop health problems.

A nursing mother who uses marijuana passes some of the THC to the baby in her breast milk. Research indicates that the use of marijuana by a mother during the first month of breast-feeding can impair the infant’s motor development (control of muscle movement).

Dealing with the stress and withdrawals that comes when you stop smoking pot can be very difficult. We recommended the use of relaxation techniques to help you get a lid on your stress. These techniques can be used when craving, or as part of a daily ritual to assists me during withdrawal from marijuana.

Stop Smoking weed Relaxation Techniques

Resetting your Diaphragm

Exhale completely, blow out every single bit of air from your lungs as best you can.

Bend over. I like to fold my arms in front of my stomach when I bend to get that extra little bit of air out. Bending over expels the last bits of air from your lungs. When you’re totally out of air make sure you hold you breath, so you don’t accidentally let any air in.

Stand up while holding your breath. This increases lung volume, so air will want to flow into your lungs, but don’t breathe. Wait about 10 seconds until your body really needs a breath.

Then, when you can’t take much more, Breathe! Your body will have moved over from your normal, everyday breathing to unregulated, autonomic “response breathing.” You should feel your breathing has switched to deep and rhythmic breathing.

That’s all there is to it. Once you let your body take that unregulated breath in step 4, your nervous system reboots your lungs, and your previous tense and anxious breath becomes a thing of the past.

I recommend performing this technique, then breathing deeply for a couple of minutes to ingrain the positive feeling of breathing deeply and fully. Hope this helps.

Muscle Tension and Relaxation

Recommended to start at the feet, then work your way up to the face. The exercise is the same for each body part. Follow the instructions below:

Get comfortable.

Take a moment to relax, breathing in and out in slow, deep breaths.

Once relaxed, shift your attention to your right foot. Feel your awareness in your foot then slowly tense the muscles. Squeeze as tightly as you can while counting to 10.

Relax your right foot. Feel the tension flowing away from your foot as it becomes limp, loose and relaxed.

Take a deep breath and continue to relax your foot.

Follow the same sequence for your left foot.

Starting from the feet, move slowly up each muscle group in your body. Here is an example pattern:

Right / Left Foot

Right calf / Left calf

Right thigh /Left thigh

Hips and buttocks

Stomach / Abdominals

Lower Back

Chest

Upper Back and Trapezoids

Right / Left Arm and Hand

Neck and shoulders

Face

Yoga – Sun Salutation

Yoga is an ancient path to spiritual growth, and originates out of India where hinduism is practiced. The practice and goal of yoga dates back to the Upanishads, written between 1000-5000 BC.

The Sun Salutation is a sequence of 12 movements that can be performed quickly whenever you need a boost. Just do a set to try it out – its not for everyone but if you like it continue it on the regular basis and reap the benefits.
