A little while ago I wrote about about food insecurity in America and how it was getting worse, arguing:

“…this decade is set up for a lot of potential shocks. Water supplies in the Colorado River and the Siera Snowpack are dwindling. Crop yields threaten to lower as temperatures rise. Harmful monocropping practices open food producers up to a bunch of vulnerabilities, including blight...And all of these shocks will only be worsened by a financialized farming system that does not prioritize feeding all people.”

Over four years have been passed since that declaration, so for an exclusive post, I wanted to do a quick check-in on this article’s conclusions and see how close (or far) we are from that alleged Great American Famine (see We Might Be Headed For a Great American Famine).
