Polite and Good is a webcomic by an etymologist who goes by the handle Secret Pie. It follows the adventures of Broccoli, their ‘best’ friend, Lady Doris, and their cat, Waffles (the embodiment of evil), as they traverse the multiverse on behalf of the forces of politeness.

It’s Rick & Morty meets Adventure Time, only queerer, weirder, and a little bit more heartfelt, and I want to talk about it.

Something I have been trying to do is highlight independent queer media, which isn’t always easy because there isn’t much incentive to focus on it. These articles are mostly a financial loss, and they aren’t viewed highly unless I tie them to a wider thematic discussion (e.g., Queer Breakup Films Are on the Rise (if you know where to look)).

But occasionally, there is a work that I just want to unapologetically talk about, even if I can’t find an angle to dissect it from. One that I have to gab about without doing some heavy analysis.

This is the case with the indie darling My Partner (2023), a MM young adult romance. I really want to gush about this film, so I figured I would make my thoughts on it an exclusive, rather than clog my normal, more ‘academic’ feed.
