I have been seeing a lot of breakdowns over what people read the previous year (see Every book I read in 2025, with commentary). And so I figured it might be a fun exercise to do a Patreon exclusive post, where I go through the kinds of books I read and share some very cold, hot takes on decades-old philosophy books.

I tend to average about 10 to 20 books a year, and this year I tried to be less precious about what I was going to read, hoping it would let me read more. I picked up whatever caught my eye, and it led to a slightly above average total of 24 books (or 2 a month): a rather eclectic mix of comics, science fiction epics, political theory, and fantasy.
