Matt Cutts reviews the question “Is over optimization bad for a website? Ex. - excessive use of nofollow.” which is a pretty interesting question that many clients will ask.

Can you truly over optimize a site? My answer, Absolutely! I see websites all day long that contain way to much keyword density, long keyword stuffed titles, long & lame meta descriptions and choppy spammy type content that users wouldn’t read if they had to. Although Google does not have a set criteria on what is “to much”, as Matt Cutts described, they do however know when a site looks spammy and is optimized just to get a quick boost in rankings and traffic.

Download & Upgrade Wordpress Now

After taking the correct steps in upgrading, go HERE and download the newest version. I would really like to get some feedback on features you guys/girls like and dislike about wordpress 2.7 and what you feel should be in the next release. As always, Wordpress will be making changes, rolling out new versions and fixing known bugs and eventually, even a new (UI)user interface. I will be making a follow up post about the cool features of Wordpress 2.7 in the coming future.

Upgrading To WordPress 2.7

Among those who are ready, there are some that all they can really do is ’sigh’ once more to this major release. I must admit, upgrading WordPress can sometimes be a major issue and even cause lots of problems with your blog and/or website. Although upgrading your wordpress is really starting to get easy, upgrading all your needed plug-ins are not considering sometimes they are not updated and can cause huge problems with your site. Also see the plugins that have been tested in the new WordPress 2.7 version and the compatible themes with WordPress 2.7 so you know what to and not to expect.

Ready or Not?

WordPress 2.7 is almost here and lots of people are ready, some are not so ready and some will never be ready. Let’s all cross our fingers and hope that this new update will encourage more plugin editors/creators to update their plugin to work with this highly anticipatided release.

It’s Official, Lively will be shutting down on December 31, 2008. After that date users will no longer have access to enter or interact with their Lively rooms. Users with embedded rooms in blogs and other web pages will continue to show a image but will also be inactive. Google is encouraging users to capture their hard work by screen shots and videos and share any work they feel particular proud of

Obama’s Website Has More Link Popularity

Yahoo Site Explorer shows that almost 2 million links pointing to www.barackobama.com, but just over 900,000 links pointing to www.johnmccain.com. As well most know that links is not everything. You much have a very strategic mix but 2 million, mostly user generated, links will really help boost a websites popularity in search engines.

“Democrats are more active online than Republicans. Democrats are more likely to participate in online communities, and say they’re more heavily influenced in their voting decisions by information they find online.” which was released by Rubicon Consulting.

As each day goes by hundreds of thousands of new users are added to the Social Network weather it be creating a new blog, subscribing to forums, or reading online articles and blogs then sharing their options about them. With this knowledge we can really never and truly understand the power of online marketing and the energy behind it. For example, Digg, StumbleUpon, Tweeter, and others grow each day by leaps and bounds making the internet more interactive and more options which in turn leads to more power.

I heard this morning, on NPR, that one reason Obama won was because he used so many resources that was at his reach - one being the Internet. In the past most politicians have used the internet as an ATM machine rather than a rally point but this year was different. Obama and McCain both used the internet as a main stream for non-supporters and supporters alike to find infomation about thier top issues, their plans, their thoughts and of course a way to donate to their campaign.

How Users Searched the 2008 Election

Google Blog put out a few great post including Top Searches on Election Day part 1, part 2 and part 3. I like to see information like this because it just tells me that the internet is in continual growth. Users are using the internet more than ever to watch live debates, find who is winning, get valuable information that vary their decisions and giving to their team.

Get the right size

check, double check and then check again that your getting the right size of T-Shirt or Hat. Some places will not take returns after purchase. It’s hard to choose but don’t buy everything - honestly not every shirt, hat or purse fits every individual. Some accessories go better with certain people - choose what is right for YOU.

Watch for best prices

trust me I will provide you with several resources of sites but do your homework and double check to see if the price of a certain geek clothing is cheaper somewhere else - never know you could be missing a sale. And if you find a cheaper price, tell us about it by commenting.

Buy quality geek and gamer clothing

again, I will supply you with some of the best suppliers out there but always, always, always watch the quality of what you are truly buying. Sometimes price is not everything. I love finding sales and clearance items but always check the quality of the shirt, hat or any piece of clothing you ever buy. Not always is the ‘name brand’ the only factor you want to watch when buying clothing. See what the fabric is made of. Whats the thread count? Does it look cheap? Does it feel cheap?

Reviews are your friend

most suppliers will have the review option which allows other buyers to review and comment on the product. Read them! Keep in mind that some people are more picky than others and some are not picky enough but reading them will give you a general idea of the product and what to expect.
