Select Yes from the Active drop-down list, and select Routing from the Mode drop-down list.
Select PPPoA from the Encapsulation drop-down list and select VC from the Multiplex drop-down list.
Enter your broadband username into the Username box and your password into the Password box.
Under IP Address, set Default Route and NAT to Enable, and then select Set Obtain an IP Address Automatically.

Click Submit at the end of the screen.

Along with pretty good quality work and ensure proper functioning of the normal, this model has good support from the developer and a very nice price for a solution to such a level. Its distinguish from the competition is easy enough to configure an interface with a complete, comprehensive solutions routing and firewall.

Pros:

Very practical and rigorous design.
Rather small and compact size.
A small price for the decision at this level.
Good speed data transmission.
Easy to set up and functional WEB-interface.

Cons:

In some cases, the application changes are complete reboot the router.
Lack of filtering by MAC address, and limit access to certain URL.
Fairly high heat for a robot.
At some point the normal work reconfiguring interfaces becomes impossible, helps complete reboot.

First thing first!!!

Please check your modem IP is it under 192.168.x.x or 169.x.x.x. How to do check?

Go to Run or use (Windows Logo + R), then key in cmd. Then type ipconfig. Try to find you IP address. If your IP is 169.x.x.x, kindly change your Network Card IP manually to 192.168.1.2.

Here is a simple step by step instruction to turn your KASDA ADSL modem from Bridge mode to Router mode. How to turn KASDA ADSL Modem into Routing Mode.

Add a Root User

1. Open a browser and type the following URL: http://192.168.1.1/hag/emweb/PopOutUserAdd.htm
2. Wait for a while and a Popup Dialog box will appear asking for username and password. Type in the following:

Username: user
Password: password

3. Now add user page should appear. Add any username you like but make sure the user type is ‘ROOT’

4. Close your browser now. Please do not switch off the modem as doing so you would lose all steps done from 1 to 3

5. Open browser and type in http://192.168.1.1

6. Now Key in the username and password that you have created in step 3

7. Go the Admin Tab and select the Commit and Reboot, now click the button commit. This should save all the work done from steps 1 to 7

Turn KASDA into Routing Mode

1. Go to the Home Tab and click on the Quick Configuration

2. Make sure the following Options are filled in accordingly:

ATM Interface: 0
Operation Mode: Enabled
Encapsulation: PPPoE
LLC VPI: 0
VCI: 35
Default Route: Enable
PPP Username: yourname@streamyx
Password: your TMNet Streamyx password

3. Click the Submit button

4. Next, Select the System Mode. Make sure that all settings (radio button) are set to disable. Click the submit button

5. Go to the Services Tab

6. Click the NAT. NAT Options: NAT Global Info. Select the Enable radio button option and click the Submit button

7. NAT Options: NAT Rule Entry. Click on the Add button. Key in the following:

Rule Flavor: NAPT
Rule ID: 1
IF Name: ALL
Protocol: ANY
Local Address From: 192.168.1.0
Local Address To: 192.168.1.255

8. Click the Submit Button

9. Select the DNS

10. Click on the Enable radio button

11. Click on the Submit button

12. Go to Admin Tab

13. Select the Commit and Reboot

14. Click on the Commit button

15. Wait for the screen to refresh and Click on the Reboot Button. Now we are done. Now you can try to open a new browser and you should be able to browse the internet without using the PPPoE dialer from your PC

Unable renew public IP through CMD

Hi there, anyone can solve my problem?

Im using Aztech DSL 705E Modem.

I need to renew my public IP address through CMD command easily.

Previously im using some other model of Aztech modem, able to do so… but now unable.

This modem got selection on LAN setting = DHCP Mode [Disable/Server/Relay Agent]

Could anyone senior here please do guide me to make it possible?

Firewall Protection

The end of OpenOffice?

Simon Jones is bemused by Oracle's attitude to OpenOffice

Since Oracle bought Sun Microsystems in 2009, many of the developers and supporters of OpenOffice have worried whether Oracle is committed to continued development of the project.

At the OpenOffice.org conference at the beginning of September in Budapest, Michael Bemmer, general manager of the new Oracle Office Global Business Unit, felt obliged to underline in his keynote speech what he called the “importance of Oracle Open Office and OpenOffice.org to Oracle and its customers”.

However, this appears not to have allayed the fears of the OpenOffice community, and by the end of the month their concern had reached a point where all the main players jumped ship, abandoning OpenOffice.org to form The Document Foundation and to rebrand the formerly eponymous software suite as “LibreOffice”.

The Document Foundation is supported by Novell, Red Hat and Canonical, makers of Ubuntu Linux. Mark Shuttleworth of Canonical says that LibreOffice will ship with future Ubuntu releases. Oracle has been “invited” to join The Document Foundation and to “donate” the OpenOffice brand that it acquired when it bought Sun Microsystems to the foundation, but whether Oracle will do either is uncertain at this time.

The company’s commitment to open-source software has been criticised in the past – it shut down the OpenSolaris project, filed patent suits against Google over Java, and introduced charges for the previously free ODF plugin that Sun had made available for Microsoft Office.

Historically, Sun contributed much of the development effort for OpenOffice because it shared much of the same code-base as its paid-for StarOffice suite.

Oracle, however, hasn’t shown much interest in either StarOffice or OpenOffice, concentrating its efforts instead on its new online Cloud Office suite. Although this will use the Open Document Format (ODF) file format, it isn’t based on the OpenOffice source code. Two other companies tried in the past to convert the OpenOffice code to run on a web server or to stream it to desktops the way Microsoft did with Office 2010 through its Click-to-Run virtualisation technology. Neither was particularly successful.

(Incidentally, you could argue that Microsoft’s Click-to-Run hasn’t been as successful as hoped, since many testers had significant problems with it during its beta phase, and I was left with the strong impression that you need a very clean computer and a very fast and constant internet connection to make it work. And even then you’d be at the mercy of the supplier of this “Software as a Service”, if its servers were to go down for any reason.)

Cloud Office

As with Google Docs or Microsoft’s Office Web Apps, Oracle is touting Cloud Office as the best thing since sliced bread for “Web 2.0-style collaborations” and other ill-defined buzz-phrase activities. Cloud Office will run either on premise or hosted on Oracle’s own hardware, and requires just a web browser to access it.

Again, like Microsoft’s Office Web Apps, Oracle says Cloud Office will complement its traditional Office application suite, but then Oracle can never decide what that suite is actually called: it’s variously referred to as “Oracle Office” or “Oracle Open Office”, while the “OpenOffice” and “StarOffice” brands seem to have disappeared altogether from Oracle’s marketing vocabulary.

It’s happy to sell you “Oracle Open Office” in Standard or Professional editions for £33 and £60 per user, but you can only buy the Standard edition for up to 99 users and the Professional edition for 100+ users (and don’t forget to add £13 per user per year for support, £13 for the installation kit, £737 per processor for the server component to do bulk conversions of documents to PDF and so on). “Free” software doesn’t look particularly free in Oracle’s model, but then as free and open-source software (FOSS) advocates always say, it’s “free” as in “free speech” rather than “free” as in “free beer”.

Oracle isn’t saying when Cloud Office will be released or how much it will cost, but does say it’s been working on it for “some time”. Replicating the functionality of a traditional office productivity suite inside a browser isn’t easy, as Google, Adobe, Zoho, Microsoft and others can testify.

It’s difficult to provide the rich user interface and ease of use available in desktop applications, and harder still to have complex documents look and print the same on the desktop and the web. Zoho took five years to rewrite its mail client into a web app, employing around 350 developers, and reportedly Sun had only about 50 developers for the whole of OpenOffice. OpenOffice is written mainly in C++ and Java, and it’s been estimated that it would take 7,500 programmer years to rewrite its 30 million lines of code from scratch.

The number of active OpenOffice developers has dwindled to a few tens over recent years as the participating companies redirected their development efforts elsewhere. Oracle’s acquisition of Sun could have provided the spur needed to reinvigorate the team to work harder and smarter, enabling OpenOffice to compete more successfully against Microsoft Office, but instead it seems to have split the community down the middle. We’ll have to watch to see how Oracle reacts and whether there are any signs that the rift can be healed.

A beta version of LibreOffice is already available, equivalent in functionality to OpenOffice 3.3 beta. It’s available for Windows, GNU/Linux and Mac OS X, but only in US English, and not all the rebranding has been completed.

Iomega SSD Flash

USB 3 external hard drives have become an increasingly common sight in recent months, however Iomega’s offering stands out as it’s the first we’ve seen to use SSD technology, instead of a good, old fashioned mechanical disk.

Physically it’s very slick, coated in cool to the touch black aluminium and barely there branding. And with diminutive measurements of 27.2 x 43.5 x 3.7 (WDH) and a low weight of just 112g, it’s comparatively portable too.

As with all other USB 3 drives it’s backwards compatible with USB 2 and also comes with a handy double-headed connection wire for both USB 3 and 2 connection, so you don’t need to remember to carry both types around with you. A nice touch.

In our large file read test it registered a scorching result of 115MB/sec. That not only eclipses the scores of other USB 3 portables we’ve tested, but surprisingly left it snapping at the heels of our A-listed desktop drives too.

Results were excellent in our small file test, an average of 65MB/sec comfortably surpassing our A-Listed portable, the Iomega eGo 500GB.

Write speeds were a little less impressive, with the SSD Flash posting a large file speed of 69MB/sec and a small file speed of 40MB/sec. Both scores are average among the portables we’ve tested.

So it’s fast, but the big problem for this particular product is value, or rather the lack of it in this case. With 64GB of storage and a price of £139 exc VAT, the price per GB works out at a huge £2.17; in our last hard disks Labs the highest price per GB for a USB 3 hard disk was 16.8p.

Alas, neither the speed nor added resilience that an SSD-based flash drive brings with it can justify such an exorbitant price premium. It's simply too expensive.
