Kinoko Nasu and Takeuchi Takashi

One of the first works released by Nasu and Takeuchi, around the time they formed Type-Moon.

It contains the short story "Notes" by Nasu and a manga, Clockwick Canaan-Veil by Takeuchi. Notes contains the foundations of the modern Type-Moon stories, and even gave the company it's name.

Angel Voice was orginally released in 1999 at Comita 48, and is now fairly rare. I paid 21,000 for mine shipped. I was going to take photos of the insides but it's sealed so I suppose I'll leave it like that. The contents were later reprinted in the Tsukihime Blue Book anyway.

Alice was 58,800 yen. Including shipping and her casual clothes set, the grand total was 72,340 yen. As usual with Dollfies, she's unavailable now and you will have to look at the secondary market to find her.

Volks have really improved the Dollfie Dream line over the past few years, and the Witch on the Holy Night girls look great.

The CCC Original Soundtrack. I was quite surprised by how nice this is - it's packaged nicer than the limited game in my opinion.

It comes packaged in this sturdy folding box.

The lid opens to reveal this flowery pattern which folds back to reveal the CCC Hidden Garden artbook.

It's actually a nice quality, thick book. I was expecting a pamphlet or something.

Under that is the OST itself, which comprises of 3 CDs and a Blu-Ray.

What's in the Hidden Garden book? Production sketches take up the first half, and lewd illustrations take up the second half. A couple of examples:

And archer. There's something for everyone in this book.

This OST boxset is pretty cool, I recommend it.

Kiritsugu and Saber Max Factory Refined Ver.

This is another rerelease, this time of Zero Versions of Saber and Kiritsugu. Unlike the Shiki rerelease however these have been changed a fair bit and are now known as "Refined Ver."

The packaging is pretty nice with the bold colors inside. Not too sure about that big 'refined' text though.

Kiritsugu got a big upgrade. His face in particular looks way better.

By default he's holding a cigarette but an optional hand is provided so he can hold his signature Thompson Contender instead if you want.

Saber is quite nice as well but I think I prefer the old one. Certainly not as much of an upgrade as Kiritsugu anyway.

The rerelease price of these two was quite good value. Kiritsugu in particular was going for insane prices before this rerelease so now's the chance to get them if you are interested.

This is a 2013 rerelease of the original well known 2008 figure of Shiki.

It's basically identical to the original release. Some people have had leaning issues but mine turned out ok.

The detailing is nice.

This figure got really expensive after its original release and the rerelease has bought the price crashing down. It's a great figure and captures Shiki well, so now is the time to buy it if you want her.

She has really blue eyes just like she's supposed to. They look great.

Her boots look really impressive too, with all the small detailing like the buckles well done.

Volks have done a really great job with Aoko. She was originally 54,000 yen at Volks but instantly sold out.

Type-Moon FES 10th Anniversary BD Box

Type-Moon recently held a live event known as Type-Moon FES to celebrate their 10th anniversary! It featured live music, interviews and more on stage and this Blu-Ray set covers the events of the fes.

The presentation of the box immediately stands out. It's enclosed in a thick embossed outer slipcase.

The back features artwork of the four main heroines.

Included is the case for the four disks and a booklet.

The case itself has some shiny chibi characters adorning it. It unfolds to reveal the disks.

And here we have the four disks. There are three blu-rays and one audio CD; the first two blu-rays are the 1st and 2nd days of the Type-Moon FES live event, the third blu-ray is a specials disk featuring many PVs and the new episode of Carnival Phantasm! The final disk is a drama CD.

If you preordered from certain stores you got two A3 posters included, one featuring Aoko and Saber and the other featuring Arcuied and Shiki. One of the posters is pictured above! These are great. Illya and Rider are helping me show it~

I really enjoyed watching this! Kalafina was a highlight for me, they were amazing live. The inclusion of the new carnival phantasm is also a great bonus.

Review: 3A Metal Gear REX

REX is the titular Metal Gear from the videogame Metal Gear Solid. This version of him was created by toy company 3A, who are usually better known for their designer 1/6 and 1/12 scale toys. It's been several years in the making and has finally been released!

Rex ships in this outer packaging. It's marked as the exclusive version because I got it directly from the 3A store, Bambaland. The 3A exclusive version comes with a small figure of Solid Snake and a poster of the boxart.

Here's Rex's box itself! I l really like the clean, minimalistic style they've gone with.

Opening up the box we see the instruction manual, the poster, and a nice glossy brochure for 3A toys.

Here it is outside of the packaging. In this picture it's still covered in tape and packing material, so moving along...

This is the railgun! Woah, it's huge.

Here he is all assembled.

The sculpt is excellent, and the paintwork is well applied too. He's pretty damn accurate to his in game appearance.

The radome. The cover is removable to expose the mechanical parts inside, to simulate the part where it gets blown up.

This is the laser cannon underneath REX's belly. It swivels up and down on some kind of ratchet and clicks into place.

There are many, many removable and adjustable parts. Here I show the removal of the armour on the knee section.

Here it is above with the knee armour parts removed.

This is the arm holding the Railgun. It is nicely detailed with pistons and swivels up and down. It could be better if it was a little more stiff but it works well enough.

The mouth opens to reveal the cockpit and pilot seat.

3 grenade launchers. They are removable and there are 3 on each leg.

This is the solid snake pilot. There was some controversy when it was first shown over the quality, but I think he looks perfectly fine. He's pretty small, so the zoomed in photos don't really accurately depict him.

Darkness...

Did I mention there are lights? The railgun is really bright. It has a really cool launch sequence where the LED's race along the length and then build up in brightness. There are also headlights on the front, and lights inside the cockpit, but I didn't get pics of those.

Look out! Aoko has taken over the pilot seat! ヽ(≧Д≦)ノ Putting ridiculous pilots in is one of the best parts.

I didn't really show it here because I'm still getting used to how the joints work, but REX can pull off a HUGE number of poses. The railgun can be turned upwards into launch position for example, and the legs are fully articulated. I've even seen pics of Rex standing completely upright on his legs! The joints are perfectly fine but don't feel incredibly sturdy, so I think it's more of a display piece than something to play around with a lot. Be careful!

This really is more of a quick look than a review. There are a LOT of features to this guy, so you might want to look at a more in-depth article if you are interested!

Here we have the Japanese Limited Edition of the Fate/Extra PSP game! Fate/Extra is a spin off which is set in the future and is generally quite bizarre. It's most well known for having a new version of Saber, Saber Extra, and she adorns the front of the box! This limited edition was bundled in a box with a soundtrack, a book, and a figma.

On another side we have Rin.

And the other side, Caster/Extra.

The game itself is in a pretty standard PSP case.

The artbook is only a few pages but is presented in a nice little hardback. The soundtrack is housed inside the book.

Next up, we have the figma! Saber Extra, or Nero, is a pretty nice figma. Her skirt is done with transparent plastic to give it the trademark see through appearance.

She comes with an alternate face and hairstyle and her huge sword, Aesus Estus. The reason she has two hairstyles and faces is because one is in the style of artist Rco Wada and one is in the style of Takeuchi Takeshi.

If you preordered, you also got another bonus little hardback book! This one is quite cool. It's called "Fate/the Fact" and is meant to be an "internet deep culture magazine"

It comes with a 16 Terrabyte HVD-R! (Actually it's a CD with some bonus stuffs on it.)

Fate/Stay Night Realta Nua Soundtrack Reproduction

This is the remastered soundtrack released to coincide with the PS Vita re-release of F/SN Realta Nua. It features remakes of the old music from the Fate/Stay Night visual novel.

It's packaged in a long cardboard box with an outer plastic sleeve. The writing is printed on the sleeve, so when it's removed you have clean text-free artwork.

The back of the packaging shows the track listing on each disk.

And here is the front again with the sleeve removed. There is a great new piece of Takeuchi art featured on the front depicting Saber in Avalon.

Opening it up there are three color themed disks inside, with Saber, Archer and Rider's command spells on respectively.

The track information is printed in a small booklet which features a closeup of the front cover art.

Some of the new tracks are great, the new Sword of Promised Victory for example is a nice improvement in my opinion. Others aren't so great but it's interesting to hear the new versions nonetheless.

It's good quality!

The chain thing is because it's designed as a hanging charm. It's removable if you want though.

The stars are done with embroidery.

Type-Moon FES was an event held to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Type-Moon. There were live perfomances by artists such as Kalafina, LiSA and Aoi Eir, as well as panels and new announcements. These invitations were given to people who attended.

I didn't attend Type-Moon FES. In fact, I didn't even buy this on purpose, but got sent it in some kind of mix-up with Mandarake.

It is an A4 size card folded in half, with the TM heroines in FES attire on the front.

Inside there is a program outlining the events that took place at the festival, and a numbered credit card sized invitation. I seem to have got number 04371.

And finally, the back side of the invitation.

It's quite a basic item but quite interesting as well.

Review: 1/3 Scale Fate/Zero Saber Motorbike

A while back I ordered a custom 1/3 scale model of Saber's Motored Cuirassier. It was made by Valkyrie Gate, a doll company who was selling a limited edition of 35 bikes. It arrived yesterday!

The parcel is the biggest one I've ever recieved; I put my phone on it to give an idea of the scale.

And here's another pic with Saber Lily nendoroid on top.

It was really well packed, and thankfully survived the journey in one piece.

So, this is what it looks like unpacked! You can see the 1/8 scale Good Smile Company Motored Cuirassier figure that I put there as a comparison. This version is 1/3 scale.

The Cuirassier is a Yamaha V-MAX modified and armored by Saber's servant abilities. This is what it looks like by itself.

The bike actually has moving wheels and working steering. In fact, the lights light up as well!

But, what would be the use of a 1/3 scale motorbike without a 1/3 scale Saber to go with it?!

It's Saber! This is the Saber Lily Dollfie, dressed in a Valkyrie Gate Suit with leekeworld shoes.

I love the job Valkyrie Gate made on the suit. It's the best fitting dollfie suit I've ever seen for sure. Actually, the shoes are one of my favorite parts; they are from leekeworld and they look really great.

Overall I'm really happy with both the Bike and the Suit. The bike is handmade and some areas of the painting are a little rough but overall it's well made and looks really impressive. The bike was $680 including EMS shipping, and the suit was $70 with shipping included in the bike. The shoes were $40 + EMS shipping from leekeworld.

I finally got round to getting the original Fate/Stay Night visual novel. This is where the Fate franchise started.

Here's the outside box. It's the same form factor as the later games (Fate/Hollow Ataraxia and Witch on the Holy Night), so they look great as a set. See the big sticker on the side. 18+!

Opening up we've got an artbook, Fate/Side Material. I'll take another look at that later.

The game case itself; it's basically a white DVD case but really thick.

There are three disks and an instruction manual inside. The disks themselves are quite nice and all have a different color shiny command spell on.

The artbook has an outer cardboard sleeve, and the book itself has a picture of Saber's Caliburn on the front. It's 100 pages in B5 size.

There's some really nice art inside, which I'd seen before online but it's cool to see the originals.

So I've got the full set of Limited Editions now, starting with Tsukihime and ending with Witch on the Holy Night. I kind of wish Tsukibako was the same size as the others but it's a minor thing, they're all really nice.

Saber Alter Solid Theater Limited Edition

Solid Theater/Movic/Gift's Sabers are known for being less anime styled than some of the other Saber figures such as the Good Smile company versions. Some people hate it and others love it; I'm one of the later.

The one being reviewed here is the limited edition version of Saber Alter, which was only sold at WonFes 2008.

The normal version looks like this. As you'll see, the head is completely different on this version. She has a softer face and doesn't have Saber's trademark bun. She's let her hair down.

This sticker on the box is the only thing on the packaging that differentiates the limited edition. It was second hand so the box is a little scuffed but the figure is in good condition.

And here she is unboxed. Her skirt and flowing hair are blowing as if in the wind. The armor is spiky and vicious looking and a slight departure from the 'official' look. I'm not familiar with any of Solid Theater's other work but they did a brilliant job on this. The painting is well defined and the scuplt is as well.

She looks like she could murder you at any second - which is what Saber Alter is supposed to look like :>

I really like this. It's probably my favorite Saber statue. I bought it from Yahoo Auctions, although I've seen it on Mandarake in the past.
