So I was hanging out at a local resort/swim club this weekend with my family. OK yes, I’m not technically a member but I have very nice friends who are and allow us to tag along on hot days. . . thanks S&D! But I digress. . . So I was hanging out at the club and I spotted the most adorable carseat covers for a set of twin girls.

They were hot pink canopies and what looked like a dark black? interior. I wondered to myself if they were Itzy Ritzy carseat covers since I they looked super cute and the Itzy ones are. But I thought they didn’t make a fushia/black combination. So I leaned a little closer and saw they weren’t black but leopard skin print (so cute!). Hmm. . . I thought. Just like the ones Jerry O’Connell and Rebecca Romijn have for their twins, how cute!

They a slow idea formed through my thick skull and I actually looked at the Dad with the twins instead of the carseat covers and yes, it was Jerry O’Connell! Well I’m an enthusiastic celebrity watcher/stalker like the best of them so I grabbed by baby girl and jumped over to the baby pool where Jerry O’Connell had both his twin daughters on his lap and was introducing them to the pool. I asked if he needed any help with the two of them (I’m such a good samaritan. . .) but he had it covered. He really handled both those girls alone beautifully. I’m not sure I would do such an artful job with 2 six-month olds myself!

Just a good reminder that if you’re looking for celebrity style without the typical pricetag - check out the Itzy Ritzy carseat covers. You can personalize them with your child’s name (Just like the O’Connell twins have) and they really are just so adorable! (Both the carseat covers and the twins.)

I do have a lot of great entries planned though. A first peek at the New Valco Ion stroller with a VALCO STROLLER GIVEAWAY - stay tuned.

Lastly - any good back care tips? I’d love to hear them!

Have you been checking out the Bugaboo Cameleon? Do you think it might be the right stroller for you but you are hesitant to take the plunge? Maybe you know you want one but your baby shower is 2 months away and you’re hoping some nice Aunt who has never sent you a birthday card, might be thrilled to become a great Aunt and spring for one. . . or maybe not. . .

Just know that waiting even 2 more weeks will cost you $80. Yes, Bugaboo is raising the price on their best-selling Cameleon stroller to $920 (Base + Fleece Tailored fabric) or $979 (Base + Canvas Tailored Fabric). If you’ve been coveting the Denim Cameleon, the good news is that is only going up by $70 to $1029 (Denim Base + Denim Tailored Fabric).

Ok you say. Well isn’t the Bugaboo Frog now a great deal at $629. It is! So much so that come July 1st, Bugaboo is raising the price on their Frog stroller back to the original $759. The frog will also be phased out over the coming year as well as more and more people are opting for the Cameleon and it’s upgrades, or the light and nimble Bugaboo Bee.

The price on the Bee? Still the same. . . what a relief! Plus now it is still available with a FREE baby cocoon at select retailers (like Let’s Go Strolling!)

What’s New For Bugaboo?

Looking towards the fall, Bugaboo will be releasing a new diaper bag. Sigh of relief. The old one was pretty pathetic! We haven’t seen the new line but we it will come in canvas and leather and we’re told it is a big step above it’s predecessor.

Get ready for a Universal Wheeled Board. Thank you! Soon Bugaboo devotees with a Cameleon and Bee can get one board that fits all 3 Bugaboo models. This will be a nice relief to Bee customers who have been worried about finding the right board to fit their lightweight workhorse.

Is the Bee getting a version 3.0? Yes, but that will take a little longer. Bugaboo expects to release the Bee 3.0 in the Spring of 2010. We’re told it will have a taller canopy, easier seat reversing mechanism and a better Bee side “wing” solution.

What about the famous Bugaboo Double Stroller?

Sources say Bugaboo is hard at work on the perfect double stroller solution but that 2010 will not be the golden year. Let’s hope 2011 brings us a fabulous Bugaboo double stroller innovation!

Given what I do for a living, I’m shown products that just make me think, “that would have been nice to have when my (baby/toddler/preschooler/fill-in-the-blank) was younger.” By The Book Fill in manual for taking care of your kids is one more of these products.

It is both a guide for new parents to navigating the both the safety and transition elements of having caregivers other than Mom and Dad in the house. While there are many “Nanny Logs” out there, this product goes much deeper than the ones I have seen.

Karmel Publishing’s “By The Book – Kids” binder has everything that a modern family needs to think about in terms of safety and convenience gathered together into one binder. Not only are there basic logs about when little Johnny slept and ate but there are sections for parents to fill out about, “What do my kids like to eat or hate to eat (for breakfast/lunch/dinner/snacks),” “What do my kids like to play,” and “What are possible discipline methods for my kids.” The brilliant thing is that there are different pages for each kid so it is super easy to specify that Johnny hates peanut butter while Jason insists on it everyday. Also great with discipline methods since what you might specify for your 18 month old is not what you would tolerate with your 4 year old.

As the mother of kids of 3 very different ages, I also love the section on extra curricular activities, what they are, when they are, how to get your child there. Each time I go away I find myself drawing up elaborate schedules for my husband, any participating grandparents, our nanny about who needs to be driven where, when and by whom. Who is getting picked up by carpool and at what time – you get the drift. What I love about this binder is that there is an easy referral mechanism so you don’t need to recreate the wheel if someone new needs to step in. Plus – since it is a binder, when the schedule changes, you can easily rip out that page and just insert a new one.

What about refills? There are two options, you can pay and get a .pdf version that you can reprint from you computer anytime you want – or you can just copy pages before you use the last one and always keep an extra. Either way it’s easy to update this binder as your schedule and kids grow and change.

As I mentioned, this book goes a step deeper than everything I have seen. In addition to the basic emergency contacts/allergies/etc it also has space and directions for taking care of more complex emergency needs including alarm instructions, where you keep emergency equipment (with a list of what you should have), authorization to treat a minor that parents can pre-sign and even a space to fingerprint your children and write down all children identifying details should you (I hope never) ever need that. I am so impressed with the complete thoughtfulness and details of this book. Plus at $19.95, you don’t have to make a huge investment for this type of convenience.

One last rave – for new parents, there are excellent information sections of how to hire a nanny or babysitter, questions to ask, even a Nanny application you can use to screen applicants. It is really a complete go to guide that will live on parents kitchen counters for years to come – changing like the seasons and growing alongside your family.

Now the fun stuff!

Karmel Publishing is offering Strolling-Along readers a 25% discount when purchasing this guide. Just use coupon code: BTBK7757 (case sensitive) when ordering.

A newer version of the Valco Trimode will follow in limited colors in the following months (it is a rolling release) which will have the zip-to-extend canopy as well as a new lighter-weight wheel (similar to the twin trimode) that should shave a couple of pounds off the popular Trimode Runabout single all-terrain stroller from Valco.

What else is in the pipeline? Valco is releasing a new lightweight with easy fold and generous proportions (think Buggster) in a single and double version. They are also planning to release the Matrix, a strip down version of the current Trimode Runabout for more consumers who want the Valco quality without the extra plushness and features at a lower price point. Lastly, plans are underway though we don’t have a final release date on the Valco Siesta toddler seat which will allow sleeping toddlers to recline in their toddler seat atop the Valco Trimode or Twin Trimode strollers. . . stay tuned!

P.S. Check back in the next 2 weeks for a Valco STROLLER giveaway!

We’ve been getting several questions from blog readers and website shoppers about the Bugaboo Bee and the current Recall:

Here’s our list of Bugaboo Bee Recall FAQ’s

1) Was there a recall on the Bugaboo Bee?

Yes. Although a recall invokes pictures of harmful, dangerous products - several popular strollers and baby gear products have been involved in a recalls that involved small retrofits to existing products. In this case Bugaboo has a simple 2 part solution that attaches to the Bee wheels without tools and solves the issue.

2) What is the Bugaboo Bee Issue?

Some consumers were finding that the brakes on their Bugaboo Bee’s were not clicking in securely so that the stroller could potentially roll even when braked. This was due to sand/dirt/etc getting between the 2 brake mechanisms. Bugaboo has released brackets that act together with the current Bee brake mechanism to eliminate this issue.

3) How widespread is this issue?

This issue technically affects all Bees in existence sold until 2 weeks ago. However only 121 reports of brake failure have actually been reported which is less than 1% of all Bee’s sold in the US.

4) What should I do if I have an older Bee?

All existing Bee owners who filled in their warranty card have already been sent a Bee Bracket Kid. If you have not received one and your Bee was purchased through Let’s Go Strolling - you can contact us and we can help. Otherwise please contact Bugaboo directly and they will send you out the necessary kit.

5) Is it safe to buy a Bugaboo Bee now?

Definitely! Not only is it an even safer stroller but now through June 15 - we are offering a free Bugaboo Bee Baby Cocoon with every purchase of the Bugaboo Bee. This is a $100 free gift which is yours with every Bee purchase!

Spring is definitely in the air - summer too this weekend in California at least! As the jackets come off, your clothes lighten up, makes you want to shed that heavy diaper bag as well too - huh?

Whether you’re ready to drop some diaper bag weight or you just want to make the one you have work smarter for you - check out the Ju Ju Be BeSet. It is a combination of 3 matching bags that can either fit into one another - using the largest as a purse, or can be used together to organize any diaper bag so that it’s easy to locate just what you need at your finger tips at any time! Plus it makes it easy to swap essentials from diaper bag to beach bag in seconds - that’s a summer time saver we can all enjoy!

The largest size is the perfect size for a small purse for quick outings alone, or can be slipped into your larger bag to hold mommies essentials all together. Plus it comes with a short and long strap so you can wear it like a purse or a wristlet - perfect for quick errands or even date night (should you be so lucky. . . )

The middle size is the perfect holder for your “odd and ends” whether it is diaper changing supplies or mommies lipstick, compact and small brush. No more throwing everything out of your diaper bag to find that one chapstick you know is in there!

Lastly there is the smallest bag - I use mine for a coin purse that I keep in my car so I’m not crawling along the floor looking for quarters to park at the dry cleaners (the meter maids in my area are ferocious!).

We know your life is busy - why spend 5+ extra minutes everyday searching through your diaper bag? Instead - use your new coin purse, grab a latte and breathe deeply knowing everything is in place just right where it should be.

P.S. Click here to see all the cute colors it comes in (11 in all!)
