Stronghold Legends - In game glitch, merlin glitch

SUMMARY OF GAME:

During this online King of the Hill game, I was playing against two T.E.E. Clan members. During the economy building, I noticed that one of the T.E.E. clan members had placed spear men on an empty estate allowing him to take that estate as his when peace time was over. Big cheat. This is the kind of map cheats you have to find on the map preview before the game starts. I failed to notice the extra little dots my enemy's adjacent estate prior to gameplay. Anyways I beat them both of course, but I kept on asking them why the cheated. One of the clan members exclaimed " You have a flying merlin!". I looked around in the map and noticed merlin foating in the air as if he was wielding anti-gravity sandals. Well I disbanded Merlin faster then one can say 'merlin sandals'. That is still no excuse why this T.E.E. member pre-made a map with spear men on one estate. Anyways, this glitch happened when the TEE member used bats against merlin, sending him flying in the air. Merlin just decided to stay up in the air for some reason.

SUMMARY OF GLITCH:

Merlin in air is the result from Merlin being on top of a seige tower while being hit by bats. The glitch happens more often when you try to move Merlin just before he is hit by bats or Percival. This glitch can also happen to ice queen when knocked of seige towers. I presume that this glitch is more dominate in the slow moving ice queen, sorcerer and Merlin because when you move them just before they get hit, the program has to process their movements slower that the reaction time of the percival blast. Who knows. I never was able to perfect this glitch nor understand it. So far, it only works on Percival, the Sorcerer, and Ice Queen.

NOTE: I tryed to take the picture above the best I can, I even did it in sky view. Depth perception is a little off in Stronghold Legends some times, but you can clearly see Merlin floating in air.

Stronghold Legends - Arthur Defense of the Month

Done by elite 7xt clan member Salvation, this defense was excellent. Notice the smaller archer towers in front of the bigger towers. This was done to protect the bigger archer towers from catapult or trebuchet projectiles.

Stronghold Legends - Pro Game Tutorial

In any multiplayer SHL game, its important to note that seige towers are pivotal to the success of any type of game. In essense, multiplayer games are just seige tower wars. The game above is a perfect example on how to conduct a pro army in a way to beat anyone. The two players in the above skirmish are one of the best in the game. When you fight a death match game, you need to stick to the formula: 12 crossbowmen on 6 towers (called groups). You can add 10 archers for better range, but crossbowmen must be used. Before you begin taking a middle estate, circle, or establish yourself in front of opponents castle, you need at least 3-6 groups. Never stop making groups.

King Of The Hill Strategy

This game was between the best ranked players in Stronghold Legends: Rush (Uaes clan), Holyspirit (Uaes clan), Beast (XT clan) and me King Henry. Notice the small space in middle that was occupied by many crossbowmen, pikemen, seige equipment and special troops. Many times in King of the hill battles, percival will gain an edge in game by blowing away troops that are compacted in small stone circle. To over come this, you need to simply use pikemen and crossbowmen only. When pikemen and crossbowmen are blown away by percival, the sorcerer, or ice queen, they get back up with only moderate damage. If you use mace men or archers, they will instantly die. I have listed the best units to use in King of the Hill multiplayer battles in detail:

Seige towers - The general rule is 6 towers per 12 crossbowmen. if your playing a game with no rules, then you must also have crossbowmen on ground to avoid being knocked off tall seige towers by bats. Crossbowmen that are knocked off towers will sustain much more damage then if they were on the ground. If enemy has taken over circle, and your not able to gather troops fast enough send a few unoccupied seige towers to middle. This will freeze the King of the hill clock and buy you time to organize an attack.
Fire ballista (Ice) -You need fire ballista under cats to kill enemy's approaching special troop (Merlin, Percival, Ice queen, Sorcerer...)
Pike men - Pike men need to be in middle while being surrounded by siege towers. Pike men will sustain moderate injuries while being blasted by Percival, Ice queen, Sorcerer or Merlin.
Catapults- Catapults will knock down a whole row of soldiers, and you can also alternate the frequency in which the catapults fire (e.g. while ones reloading have the other fire to create a continuous stream of rocks being hurled at approaching enemy). make sure to cover catapults with cats. If you look at image above, you will see that stone archer towers are placed in front of circle. In this case use catapults to destroy stairs connected to towers to render tower useless.
Trebuchets (Arthur)- You can toggle trebuchets with cows and hurl the diseased carcasses in the pathway of oncoming enemy troops. This may be an obvious component to any king of the hill battle but nevertheless an important factor that can turn the tide of a game.
Stake Hurlers (Evil)- Stake Hurlers are excellent in range and rendering massive damage to enemy troops. The main advantage to stake hurlers is the ability to destroy enemy siege equipment relatively fast compared to fire ballista, trebuchets or catapults.
Special troops (Ice queen, Merlin, Sorcerer, Percival...)-Do not put ice queen in siege tower with a no rules game.
Ice queen will die instantly, when knocked off siege tower. Instead have her walk briskly to middle under cats.
Percival will occasionally overshoot its special causing no damage to targeted enemy troops. To over come this in King of the Hill battles, you must always aim his special a little before troops and never directly on stone towers. Always point Percival's special on open ground and never on siege equipment or stone.
Merlin's special will kill anyone it its path, also his lightning bolts will kill a maximum of 24 archers after the second strike. Keep Merlin under cats and seige towers. The towers will cover Merlin completely so enemy will not know he is approaching. Use about 12 towers and 6 cats to have Merlin sneak into stone circle to use his special. If your playing a low settings king of the hill with no fly, then put Merlin in 6 seige towers. Merlin is very important in low settings no fly games. Merlin can clear 50 archers in matter of minutes.
Sorcerer is best used against enemy siege equipment. If your playing against an evil, then you can trick its sorcerer into burning his own flammable wooden seige equipment. Just use mace men to run towards enemy's siege equipment and if enemy sorcerer is near he will burn his own seige equipment!

NOTE: You can hide any special troop with about 12 seige towers and 6 cats. Approaching special troops are always targeted by enemy.

Stronghold Legends - Merlins great advantage

Merlin has a great advantage over many things in Stronghold legends. The main advantage that Merlin has that is especially advantageous is the ability to kill archers with two strikes. This was a game bettween an LOD ezchi, 7xt promethius, and me King henry. Look as merlin strikes seige tower again after killing 24 archers.

Stronghold Legends - Best economy updated

This economy was taught to me by the elite 7xt clans member ; 7xtMurder. This is a standard economy for any pro stronghold player. Notice the ale house, pantry, church, and market place all in one spot...you need to auto buy bread, candle sticks, honorary food, and wood. Then you proceed in making an economy like one shown above.

L.I.T. The LIT clan is the smallest in stronghold

How do you make Merlin run like a knight?
How do you make one archer kill 100 giants?

Well I have the answer for you today. In this tutorial I will teach you how to alter / crack the Stronghold Legends file so you can make troops of even peasants much faster or powerful. In this crack you will be altering a comma seperated values file that is in the form of an excel spreadsheet.
What you need: Microsoft Excel - If you don't already have this its okay you can download a trial version of excel for free for 30 days.

Method:

Look for stronghold legends icon on your desktop and right click on it
When pop up menu comes up, click on 'OPEN FILE LOCATION'
Scroll down until you see a file named 'SH Legends Data' file
Open the file and alter the numbers inside file to manipulate unit characteristics

Warning!: This does not work in online multiplayer mode. Using this cheat in multiplayer mode will result in you being immediately kicked out of current game.

Stronghold Legends - Pro Defense

When playing stronghold, and there are low settings it is very important to learn how to make a pro castle wall, one that cannot be seiged as easily, and one that is inexpensive to make. Take a lot at the picture below, notice that the walls that are connected to the gatehouse are connected in a way so that ladder men cannot access the gatehouse. The gatehouse, even though connected, is connected in a way so mace men cannot take control of gatehouse.

Stronghold Legends SKY VIEW (quick look) tutorial

In Stronghold Legends you can see an entirely different view by just holding down ALT and using middle mouse button to move. During this mode you can see the sky and be eye level with troops. You have to enable this in the options menu before you start a game. This is a great way to experience stronghold, especially if your taking screenshots or making videos.

HOW ITS DONE:

1. Start Stronghold Legends as usual
2. In main menu, click on options
3. In options menu, Click on gameplay
4. Make sure 'Allow quick look' is checked

*To use this feature, during gameplay you need to press down alt while pressing down middle mouse key.

During an online game, Dark emperor was kind enough to show me a crazy cheat. In this cheat he used siege equipment to make spear men and kings to walk on water. The picture above is an illustration of the cheat.

Stronghold Legends - Common mistake explained

As you can see, Dark Emperor took advantage of opponents lack of different troops in this King of the Hill game.Opponent should of made mace men to kill sorcerer before he got in range. Click to enlarge picture and you will see that the opponent is pleading for Dark Emperor not to use his sorcerer.

First of all I would like to congratulate Dark Emperor for making this move, but from this we can clearly see how dynamically strategic a full army comprised of mace men, knights, unmounted knights can be. NEVER attack with an army solely comprised of umounted knights or pikemen. Even though these slow moving unit factions are slow, they provide a great defensive barrier for spearmen, archers, or crossbowmen.

Here is a list of advantages / disadvantages of slow moving factions (pikemen and unmounted knights)

PIKEMEN / UNMOUNTED KNIGHTS:

Advantage:

Resilient to a percival blast, even though percival might blow these troops straight to the ground, they get up with only moderate damage.
Make a great barrier in front of archers, and crossbowmen
Able to kill creepers
Making pikemen doesn't require honor

Disadvantage:

Slow moving, and enemies faster troops can get past them with ease
Cost a lot to produce

Stronghold legends - Best economy tutorial

Here is a picture of a perfect tax based economy that always produces more money than anyone in multiplayer.

The best economy in stronghold legends would be a taxed based economy. There is a minimum amount of resources you have to make to even out popularity after you set taxes to -16.

Here is what you need for an incredible economy that produces a massive amount of money:

Make at least 14 hop farms
Make 14 breweries
Make 14 Chanlders
DON'T use stone quarries unless its for a short period of time during peacetime (stone quarries take up too many peasants)
27 iron mines if applicable
4 of each food type except for bread

Now, after you completed these, build ale house, church and set rations to double. You can click on keep then little book to see how much popularity you producing versus negative popularity. Your taxes should be set at -16.

HINT: Also make sure your market place is selling all items over 100 to minimize the possiblity of your stockpile getting full.

Stronghold Glitch Cheat

Supposedly there is a glitch cheat that only works with snake map, but I am assuming it works with all default stronghold maps. The cheat works only if your ice and you have to build an engineer to dig an enemy moat only if he spent over 5k building it. You have him dig and it supposed to burn his entire moat but it kills all of your soldiers as well. I am going to try this cheat in the near future, but really who builds over 5k of moats in the snake map? Well please, someone try this and comment if this works or not, I am going to try it and film it in the near future.

This economy won this months best economy award! Wholly spirit was the player and he achieved a great economy in very little time, with very little castle space. I have played wholly spirit twice only, and so far is the only player online that can even compare to me. Even though I have never played him one on one, I am sure that I would still beat him because he has one flaw, he doesn't produce honor and puts to much emphasis on money. With minimal honor troops I could wipe out all his mace men and pike men.

This has to be one of the best defenses I have seen in stronghold. It looks pretty but has its major flaws. All crossbowmen are in one spot, making it easy for Percival knock down (I actually did this against this player about five times), But this defense it has great aesthetic value. More of a form over function type defense.

Here are some great tips when making a defense whether your Arthur, Evil or Ice.

Make sure moat gives a lot of separation between archers and enemy to prevent Percival from knocking them down. This is also good, since it lets enemy walk a bit before reaching gatehouse, letting archers attack for a longer period of time.
Of course, make sure moat covers all castle wall to prevent, creepers, ladders, or any other seige equipment landing on walls.
Make a pathway that follows a line of archers so when enemy finally reaches gatehouse, his troops are almost dead.
Always, and I mean always, keep either Merlin, Ice queen, Or sorcerer just shy from the gatehouse so that this special troop can kill all giants, knights or any troops that gang up on the gatehouse. This is an especially important defensive strategy against Ice's Frost Giants.

Very interesting and powerful defense. I would like someone to try to seige that defense! Ice is the best in defense while king arthur first in offense. This defense with a king arthur team mate, will make an invincible pair.

Crazy stronghold hack! Giants walk on water!

This is an online multiplayer hack, where giants will walk on water! I was looking for opponents honor statues which were on an island. You can also see a live video on youtube of me using this hack! In this hack, you can use any troop to walk on water, I used giants since they look a lot better on water. There is a specific way to do this hack, but mostly its just taking advantage of a glitch in the computer. Practice sending your frost giants to a specific location that would be more convenient if they crossed the water. Sometimes the glitch happens that way sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes spearmen can do the cheat easier with the help of enemies percival.

Famous Dragon Cheat, and map hack! - Stronghold Legends

This cheat is a lot easier than the Merlin hack, and I will explain how to do it. First of all, this is a map hack for online multiplayer play. I wouldn't suggest using it consistently because it might become annoying to other players, but its a fun way to impress online players into thinking you have a secret hack.

This is how you do the cheat or map hack:

Go into map editor
Load one of your favorite maps
Click on troops icon, then make at least 40 dragons and hide them in your castle
Host a multiplayer game with no peace time
Then rush opponent with dragons and have fun!

HINT: Always check enemy maps if they have an advantage like more honor statues or pre made iron mines.

Okay I know, this is a newbie cheat, but its still very very fun!

Stronghold legends Game stats - Best players

These are currently, the best players on Stronghold. I was on a team with King Heath, and we won of course. Notice I don't have the least amount of gold, but the most glory points and honor. I put more emphasis on honor than gold in a game, since 100 spear men don't stand a chance against honor troops.
