This level of cheating does not affect teachers; it affects students in many ways that go beyond getting a zero. But what’s the point of sitting in class without paying attention or misbehaving?  Being present, participating and taking notes prevents boredom. I always tell them that if I can’t read it I can’t grade it. The problem is that some of their behavior extends beyond the classroom and spills onto the Internet, where they bully innocent classmates and spread malicious rumors, often devastating victims and parents alike. Getting three failing test grades in a row is definitely a wake-up call and a cause for alarm.
