Demonstrate your understanding of the web design process by designing, coding and publishing your own website.
Your site can be on anything you like, however don't get too ambitious (maybe do a sub-set of a bigger site), restrict it to around 5 pages (or 1 page with Spry tabbed panels). Stick to the layout used for the Learning Activity but change images/ typesetting, use your own copy, add your own images/ backgrounds. Feel free to use the Dreamweaver CSS templates and modify them to suit.

Welcome to the Part 2 of Free Programming Tutorial (Language C). I am trying to share my knowledge for the novices who are interested to learn programming language C. In this part I will discuss the data types of programming language C. There are several types of data of programming language C. But there are four major data types

among all. I am introducing you with these four in this part.

Int data type: Int data type means the ‘integer quantity’ like 1,2,3 etc. Size of int data type is 2 bites and its range is from -32,768 to +32,767.

Char data type: Char data type means the ‘single character’ like a, b, z, A, N etc. Its size is 1 bite and range is from -128 to +127.

Float data type: Flot data type means the ‘floating point data or decimal numbers’ like 10.5, 1.8 or 5.6 etc. Its size is 4 bites and range is from 3.4e-3.8 to 3.4e+3.8. “e” stands for exponent or power.

Double data type: Double data type means ‘double precition floating point number’. It is actually same as ‘floating point data’ but it is massive in size. Its size is 8 bites and range is from 1.7e-30.8 to 1.7e+30.8.

Free Programming Tutorial (Language C) - Part 1

Welcome to the free tutorial of computer programming. We, who are the programmers , know that the language C is the main tool to make any program. Let’s see the initial characters of programming language C. As a programming language C actually accepts some specific characters to write a program.

Such as,

A-Z, a-z, + - * / = ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) } { _ / \ . , ? etc. If you can use these characters properly, you can write a computer program easily. Let's start with the initial program that's often used to make learning for the beginners.

Just open a notepad file and write the programming code like the image below:

This is actually a small program. In the notepad “#include” means the head of the program. “stdio” means ‘standard input output’ and “.h” means the ‘header’. “main()” is a function that show the starting point of the program actually. “printf” is a command to print “Hello World”. Now if you run the program, you will see “Hello World” on your screen. Now start your practice to be a computer programmer and keep yourself with our next tutorial.

Many people do not buy a domain because they only have a private website for practice or fun. In that case you can get your website live on the World Wide Web by using any free hosting service that lets you to make what is called sub-domain. A Sub-domain is a domain that is a part of a different domain.So if ABC.com offered sub-domain hosting you will get an address like- www.ABC.com/your website/ or it could be like- http://your website.ABC.com.

Remarkable point is that your website domain is actually a part of a parent domain, in that case ABC.com. You don’t have to buy a domain name, doing it this way you do not to have pay for hosting. This is almost appropriate for fun or projects for your websites.

Transferring website files on the server:

After registering your domain name and hosting service in place, the final step is to upload the site on the server. You have to transfer your website to the server of your host using a FTP program. It is a sort of software that is applied to transfer files from one computer to another computer over the Internet. FTP stands for: File Transfer Protocol; it just means that this is a way of transferring files. There are a number of free FTP programs you can apply to transfer your files. Several web design programs and HTML editors have FTP capabilities built in.

As a webmaster you need to make your website live on World Wide Web (www). In order to complete this process you have to go through two consecutive steps. First step is to register your domain and the second step is to rent some server space. Let’s see a brief description of these tasks.

Domain Registration:

There are several companies on internet that allow you to complete domain registration for your website. As does the quality of service, actual costs vary but they all grip the details of making your domain listed in the massive address book at the end of the day which I discussed about earlier in Part-1. You will find that a lot of the names you may be interested to register are previously taken these days.

Difference among .com, .net, .org extension addresses:

In reality there is no difference among several extension address. Search engines have do not have any discrimination between a .NET address and a .COM address. Only thing you might keep in mind that people tend to type in .COM repeatedly since it was the initial widely known domain extension. So you should go for the .COM extension first when registering a domain name and if it is taken, you have to try for any of the others like .net, .org etc. …

I am going to provide you the least knowledge you should have so that you can quickly create your own website. Let see the starting point.

Definition of web:

Web is a complete bunch of interrelated computers talking to each another. These computers are usually connected by
digital satellite signals, phone lines, cables and various data-transfer mechanisms. All these computers that make up the web are able to be connected all the time or they also can be connected just occasionally. Computers that are connected all the time are normally called a ‘server’. Actually a server is a computer just like the one you are using at this moment to read the article. A to Z Blog Making Tutorial with Weebly.com

We often need to make a personal blog or site for sudden necessary or interest. We usually use blogspot.com for creating a blog. Here I am depicting how we will make a beautiful blog on weebly.com and in a short tutorial I am trying to cover A to Z area of making a blog on weebly.com.

Web design skill is the first and important element to make a nice blog. But without having a vast knowledge in web design, you will be able to make a nice looking blog or website on weebly.com.

Let’s start our tutorial:

At first browse the site Weebly.com by your browser and there you have to sign up a free account by filling up a form with your name, email address & your desired password.

2. Then you will be asked for any certain word for their verification. Just put the word in the box and press the button “OK, let’s go!”

3. After that you will see a welcome message. Here you have to write a title for your site in the first box and just select the type “personal’ in the second box. Now you can press “continue” button for the next stage.

4. At this stage you have to write the url for your site in the first box. If the url is not registered yet it will show a green signal. You can buy this domain as a premium client or can connect any other domain with it if you have. Rest of two boxes below with red border is showing these options for you. Now click on the “continue” button.

5. Here you will see your dashboard. On this page you will get a drag and drop option for your operation. The red perimeter of the top left corner is that option.

6. Now we drag the part and drop it on the bottom of the page.

7. Here you can edit your post for publishing. Just write a title for your blog post and put your description.

8. Now I am describing some other options that you need to make the blog properly. You will see few more options like ‘paragraph with title’, ‘picture and video’ etc under the sub category of “Basic” that is further under a category “Elements”. You can drag & drop any option according to your necessary.

9. Then in the “Multimedia” option you will get some more tools for your using like photo gallery, slide show, YouTube video flash etc. By these tools you will be able to put photos, YouTube videos and several flash elements in your site.

10. If you want to use Google AdSense in your site, you can use the “revenue” part for this management.

13. By using “Design” option you have to select the font size and color for your site.

14. Now go to “All Themes” section to see the theme archived and apply any one from your choice.

16. If you need to change any order among the pages you made, just drag and drop that according to your necessary. Don’t forget to press “save settings” button before leave the page.

17. Now we will go to “editors” section. By this section you will be able to create multiple admin for your site.

18. If you need to change the title or password of your side, you have to use the “settings” section of the site. You will be able to add any favicon for the site by using this option.

19. To change your site banner, you have to click on “Edit image” button.

20. Now you can add image by clicking “add image” button, change any text by “add text” You can use more graphical tools like crop, rotate, opacity, fade, effects etc for editing your image. Then press “OK” button and exit.

21. Finally click on the “Publish” button.

22. You will see the page like below. Click on “Continue”.

23. At last you have made your site. For checking just browse with your site link. You also will be able to share it with Facebook and Twitter.

I think this is a very easy and time saving method for the students make a difference always in making a blog or site. In this case weebly.com is a nice platform for practice.
