This proposition is illustrated with two case vignettes of adolescents who functioned on a pre-symbolic level, but who through a transformative experience were catapulted into new developmental trajectories and the beginning of symbol formation.

Wilfred Bion and Carl Gustav Jung. These three men truly ha the opportunity to meet and this promoted a mutual contamination of the ideas and personality of each. The author approaches in a critical manner the experience that Beckett underwent during his analysis with Bion and emphasizes the meeting they both had with Jung, which took place in 1935, on the occasion of a renowned conference at the Tavistock Clinici in London. Starting from Beckett’s novel Murphy, in which the influence of psychoanalysis on the writer’s life is evident, the author presents a series of points to reflect on in line with Jung’s thought, who reminds us that «the artist in a higher sense is "man", and "collective man", bearer and representative of human’s unconscious psychic life».

Of particular importance is the idea of considering the analytical occur between patient and analyst, based on acausal connections, finding application in the theory of synchronicity as a basis for construction and symbolic functioning of psychic life and the same analytical interaction.

The Arabs are a transnational entity, united by language and by the adherence to the Islam, which is closely interwoven with their lives. Arabs consider psychology a Western invention, not suitable for a proper Islamic way of life. On the other hand, mental health professionals are formed in the West. There is a gap between psychological models and procedures for the Western and Muslim world. Elements that should be taken into account when treating patients Arab-Muslims, following Jung’s recommendation to use religion as a mean of patient care.
