7 work types and the corresponding inspirational work spaces

2014-10-12T20:28:00.001+02:00

Creatief of zakelijk.

An inspirational workspace is the beginning of hard, creative and good work. Here are 7 different workspaces, one for everybody:

< the minimalist one
Clean desks, no paper, only digital. This person cannot work when he has no overview. Lots of storage (on- and offline) is necessary to maintain a clean-desk-policy.

Think outside the box!
<the creative one
Working in a creative field requires a creative workplace. Think outside the box and DIY your own furniture. The pillows on the floor provide a great place to brainstorm (and take powernaps!)

<the administrative one
Lots of folders and other storage to keep in touch with all the paperwork. In order not to drown in all the paper and keep daydreaming possible, a small inspiration board is required.

<the design one
Beautifully designed accesories and furniture will help to make the time pass faster. A nice desk, String shelves and a design office chair are top priorities to perform adequate.

<the green one
Work is not possible without plants and fresh air. The more, the merrier! Big windows are necessary to keep in touch with the world outside your screen.

<the colorful one
No matter what type of work has to be done, it will be stored or finished in colour. Colourful storage, labels, markers and other office supplies are necessary to finish the day in a good mood.

<the attic one
Working as a freelancer or having a small company and thus not being able to rely on a company to provide a nice big desk. So you use what you have. The advantage is this space can be fully decorated to your own space. If you're tired of your dark attic, why not work on the couch or in your kitchen for a while?

Dus, welk type ben jij?
So, which one are you?

How to survive Mondays

2014-10-06T20:35:00.001+02:00

Moe. Zo moe.

I'm so tired!
Please just lay me in this bed and I promis I won't bother you tomorrow. Who would even leave such a peaceful room if you don't have too? A good book, a cappuccino and some Belgian chocolate and I'll forget about the world for a while. (and be annoyed about the karate-chopped pillows ...)

Olive

2014-10-02T20:39:00.000+02:00

I've fallen in love. I've fallen madly in love. I've fallen madly in love before (wife and son, OF COURSE), but this time it hit me hard again. When I saw this house, I was instantly thinking what I should pack and when I could move. I mean, who could not love these dramatic and moody walls. I'm seriously considering to paint one of our living room walls in this dark green olive color. There is just no disadvantage to it. Even all your Scandinavian furniture will beautifully contrast with this color.

Where's my paintbrush?

Home of Laura Seppänen

2014-09-16T20:18:00.000+02:00

Her white and light apartment is filled with light, thanks to her high ceilings and huge windows. Laura has decorated her home in Scandinavian style (of course!), but is not afraid to add some ethnic touches.

Her favorite pieces are the black acapulco chair and the grey Söderhamn chaise longue.

Easy DIY: Starry starry night

2014-08-27T20:31:00.001+02:00

Zoete dromen gegarandeerd!

Sweet dreams! Look at this cute and super-easy DIY, found on Deasogmia. This can easily be made to hang above a crib or your own bed (why not!)! Imagine a ceiling full of stars?

With some (colored) cardboard, thin plastic thread, this starry sky is made in 1-2-3. You can use some (washi)tape or small hooks to attach the tread on your ceiling.

Holiday home in Palm Springs

2014-08-24T20:25:00.000+02:00

Some claim summer's already over in Belgium, but I refuse to believe this. Especially after a beautiful day as today. Therefore some more summerinspiration for you!

Below is the holidayhome from Sarah and Murray Bancroft and their 2 daughters, Emmanuelle and Charlotte, in Palm Springs (CA). They renovated this 50's home into a light and airy getaway.

36h in Paris: what I've bought

2014-08-14T15:20:00.001+02:00

I'm sorry to have neglected this blog for so so long, but I had a super-duper busy and fun holiday while neglecting! I just came back from a week long holiday in Czech Republic (at lake Lipno), enjoyed some family time with my son (who turned one on Tuesday, hooray!) and did a superquick citytrip to Paris (36 hours to be exact!) with my wife.

A list of shops I recommend will follow, but I first wanted to share some of the things I've bought on our short getaway in the capital of lights. (patience is not my best quality)

We would stay at an amazing airBnB-place, close to Centre Pompidou, but received a cancellation a few days before our departure (calendar wasn't up-to-date, boo!) so we booked a regular hotel in Les Marais, the trendy quarter of Paris, to be sure to have a place to sleep at night.

I could not go to Paris and not visit the most discussed store on all interior blogs: Merci.

I was not at all disappointed when entering this store, while passing the red Fiat at the entrance. They had a great curated assortment of different items, from furniture to stationery, from toys to clothes.

I also could not leave the store without buying some stuff (the fact that a part of the profit goes to charity only helps to eliminate possible doubts)

De vangst - the catch:

Thé paper bag (only €4 !!):

A limited-edition suitcase, designed by Paola Navone.

De Pepe Heykoop vaashoes in grijsverloop - A Pepe Heykoop vasecover in grey-gradient

(Centre Pompidou-shop)

Een beer-brievenhouder - A letter organizer Bear for our home office

(from Kikkerland - bought at the Centre Pompidou shop)

A House Doctor tray for our hall - to collect letters, keys, sunglasses and money - bought at a touristy design shop near Centre Pompidou, but forgot to write down the name! (oops)

and not from Paris, but from our local charity/thrift store:

Een heel leuke, bruine vintage koffiekan - A super cute vintage, brown coffee jug

A vintage green winejar which we now use to collect our spare change in the hallway. Not sure yet what we will do when the jar is full (if we'll ever have the patience to wait that long!)

All pictures (except from Merci) belong to Studio8940

Living large in Poland

2014-07-12T10:14:00.001+02:00

Living large in a small space isn't an easy task. Klara Wesol of KW Studio however did a great job on renovating this apartment (56m2). With it's careful layout-planning the space doesn't feel small at all! Obviously, it is styled for sale (where is the TV and closet?), still some great ideas can be taken from this space. I'm loving the exposed brick wall, the cabinet in the hall and the layout in the living area. What do you like?

Relaxed apartment in Sweden
