Cassandra (Elvira) Peterson - Mistress of the Dark

Cassandra Peterson is better known as her alter ego "Elvira, Mistress of the Dark," The hostess of KHJ-TVs Movie Macabre in the 1980s, which became the first nationally syndicated horror host show. The Queen of Halloween has been a pop culture icon ever since, branching out into feature films, calendars, books, music, and, of course, tassel dancing. (If you haven't seen Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, you really do need to get out more!) Her sarcastic wit and double-entendré humor are two more things that make it a comedy classic in it's own right.

My generation knows Dweezil Zappa best as the eldest son of Mothers founder Frank Zappa, but many are more familiar with his various MTV and cable roles, and with his own albums -- or is all music mp3s now? Dweezil's Zappa Plays Zappa tribute band is introducing very credible yet original covers of Mothers favorites to a whole new audience.

Josefina Montoya is a young hispanic girl growing up in 1824 New Mexico, and the subject of a series of American Girl books for young (K-8) readers. The integtrated curriculum approach is popular with homeschoolers and as supplemental reading, combining history, social studies, and reading in imaginative and interesting story form. There is also a series of very popular collectible dolls and more affordable mini-dolls as a marketing "hook."

This is one of the my earliest experiments with RSS and the Squidoo platform. It's more popular than I would have imagined, probably because Squidoo users -- "lensmasters" -- are generally Amazon newbies. It's O.K. I suppose, and I may update it when I learn a little more XML/XSLT.
