Roots Fashion Show - Local Talent, Local Artists, for a Nationwide Cause

2014-04-25T09:00:00.001-05:00

If you have never heard of Jack Hoffman, you may live under a rock.

The little man, who has not even reached the age of 10, caught the attention of the entire country as he scored a touchdown on a major collegiate football field, won and ESPY award, and most importantly, beat cancer (he is currently in remission), all while creating the Team Jack Foundation for research in pediatric brain cancer.

Jack has won hearts nationwide, but no one loves him quite like the people here in his native Nebraska. Little Jack has touched our hearts, and inspired people throughout the state to become active in his mission to find a cure.

One such Nebraskan, Kylie Bollwitt, a Native of O'neill Nebraska, owner of Styling By Kylie, and Omaha Fashion Week superstar, is creating a little glamour in order to support Team Jack.

On May 10th, she will be co-producing the Roots Fashion Show in her native O'neill. All designers, musical artists, and featured vendors are Nebraska born. Designers will include O'neill native and Chicago based, Chantele Marie with her label CME, and native Nebraskan, and LA based, Jennifer Hausman with her American made (and WONDERFULLY FITTING) denim brand, JHaus. Entertainment will be provided via Nebraska artists Rehme Sutton, Brandi Walters, Rachel Price, and Carson Belik.

The evening will have something for everyone. Guests will mingle as they shop local vendors, hit the red carpet, and Team Jack Photobooth as they sip cocktails during the 7pm cocktail hour as they wait for the main event at 8pm. The event will features a total of 3 showcases, and in addition to the designers mentioned above, will include looks from 318 On The Avenue, a boutique from Norfolk, Nebraska. A silent auction will also be open throughout the evening, with proceeds going to Team Jack.

Tickets for the event are available at http://www.kbrx.com/pages/18496052.php for $50 with a portion of the proceeds going to the Team Jack Foundation.

EVENT DETAILS:

May 10, 2014
7pm - Cocktail Hour
8pm - Showtime

Markoos Modern Design for Tiny Hands International - Omaha Fashion Week Benefit Auction

2013-08-29T23:20:00.002-05:00

FINALLY!! We have arrived at our final destination.. the auction for TINY HANDS INTERNATIONAL. I am so very happy that I was able to work with such a fantastic group of people on this project. It touched my heart to see some many people respond to the kids in need.

I first learned about Tiny Hands International on Easter while I was visiting my parents' home. My cousin, Spencer Steffen, had sent them a letter regarding his plans for the summer. My parents suggested that I give the letter a look. I sat down and began reading about how he was planning to spend his summer in Nepal helping an organization that aims to assist children in danger of ending up on the dangerous streets of Nepal, and young girls and women who are in danger of becoming victims of human trafficking and/or the sex trade.

He wrote with such passion and humility. He, who is pre-med at Creighton, was taking his summer off, and spending his time and money to help the most needy of all. It touched my heart to see the level of responsibility and love from such a young man. I knew that I wanted to help, and I knew that I could do more than send him a check to cover travel expenses.

I emailed him, and the LOVE CONQUERS ALL line for August 2013 Omaha Fashion Week slowly became a reality. When Spencer left for Nepal, he left with fabric and paints in hand. While he visited some of the children who had been fortunate enough to be saved by the Tiny Hands Mission, he had them paint on the fabrics. They painted scenes of their beautiful country, messages of thanks, hearts, animals, and lots and lots of tiny handprints :)

I was so thrilled to see the colorful designs when he delivered them to me! To have these little pieces of art from across the world was an incredible feeling. To know that I was going to use them to help these kids, and more like them, was very rewarding. I aimed to create a line that was beautiful, flowing, and easy to wear. Each ensemble in our show featured hand painted appliqués or panels from one of the sweet kiddos in Nepal.

I also wanted to spread more awareness to the audience in attendance, as well as my fans in the online world. So I created a video .. watch it here.

The line was shown on August 19th, 2013. My models were amazing. The audience was great. And the response was heartwarming. I know how generous and giving the people of Omaha are, but I have been astonished with their support and giving attitudes. It makes me feel great to be a part of such a great community. I would like to thank everyone who made the evening so fantastic, incuding Tom Sena and his team at T'eez Salon, Greg Higgins from G Thompson Higgins Gallery, Nick and Brooke Hudson, producers of Omaha Fashion Week, Alyssa Dilts from Develp Model Management, all of the models, and their parents, and of course Spencer Steffen and the entire Tiny Hands International Organization.

Many of you have been waiting patiently, as I have been... we finally have some great pictures to share with you, and offer the items for sale.

100% of the proceeds from the sale of these items will go back to TINY HANDS INTERNATIONAL and their mission.

Have You Used Ebates!?!?! WHY NOT?

2012-12-13T08:58:00.001-06:00

Holy smokes... I had heard all the hoopla over Ebates in the past, but quite honestly, I thought it was too good to be true.
This year, for whatever reason, I decided to give it a look. When I saw that you get a $10 giftcard to the store of your choice just for signing up, I had to see if it was for real....and guess what... it is DEFINITELY for real!! In the last month, I have gotten enough cash back through Ebates to buy my children addittional Christmas gifts, WITHOUT changing my budget. That will make any mom or dad feel like a million bucks! In addittion, I recieved my Target giftcard yesterday!!! WOO-HOO!!

I AM SOLD!

The absolute best thing?? It is rediculously simple. You log in, search for the store you are going to shop at... (and they have EVERYTHING)...click on it, and it takes you directly to the stores page. AND THAT IS IT!! From then on it is just like any other shopping experience online. The formats are all the same, you check out the same way, etc. When you purchase, they store reports your total back to Ebates. You earn anywhere from 1-10% back on every purchase!! Absolutely wonderful!

DID I GET YOUR ATTENTION??

I thought maybe I did :)

Check it out!! HERE -> http://www.ebates.com/rf.do?referrerid=jLQObDXF7BsHd%2FYb%2F4hLUQ%3D%3D&eeid=23552
