Daniel Radcliffe is taking ballet lessons.

The 19-year-old actor is so worried he won't be able to find a job after the 'Harry Potter' films come to an end he has decided to don tights and slippers in a bid to make him more employable.

He told Esquire magazine: "I'm learning the basics of ballet. The thing is, in a few years I'll be 21, 22, and that's when all the guys who've been at drama school will come out.

They've been learning dance or singing and all that stuff and I'm going to need to compete with them because I won't have 'Harry Potter' as my safety net any more. I need to make myself as viable a choice for any part as I possibly can.

Knox - who played Marcus Belby in the movie - was stabbed outside a bar in Kent, England, in May, just weeks after filming wrapped.

Daniel said: "What happened to Rob was awful."

Bonnie Wright - who plays Harry's love interest Ginny Weasley - added: "The premiere is going to be a traumatic experience for his family."

Pregnant Adriana Lima never thought she would become a mother.

The Brazilian supermodel - who is expecting her first child with basketball star husband Marko Jaric this winter - can't believe how her life has turned out as she used to worry she would never settle down.

She said: "I never saw myself being married and having a child. Not because I did not want to. But it's tough to find somebody."

Adriana met the sportsman at a Los Angeles party in 2006 and says the event changed her life.

She revealed to People magazine: "I knew he was the one and I could see myself married with him and with a big family."

The couple got married on Valentine's Day (14.02.09) after eloping and Marko is glad they didn't have a huge wedding.

He revealed: "We wanted to have a big wedding with my family from Serbia and her family from Brazil, but we realised we don't want to make a wedding for other people, just to show off. We realised the wedding is really private thing and it's to make us happy."

Michael Jackson dead at 50

King of Pop Michael Jackson has died in Los Angeles following a suspected heart attack.

Pop legend Michael Jackson has died in Los Angeles, aged 50, from a suspected cardiac arrest. Paramedics were called to the singer's Holmby Hills mansion following an emergency call, but were unable to revive him. He was taken to the UCLA medical centre at 1.14pm but was pronounced dead at 2.26pm local time.

Michael's body was flown by helicopter to the LA coroner's office four hours later for an autopsy to establish the cause of death. The results of the post-mortem were due on Friday.

The news of Jackson's sudden death came as a massive shock to fans around the world, especially as he was due to begin a series of comeback concerts in London on 13 July. Jackson, who turned 50 last August, was thought to be in good health and rehearsing hard for the tour, although he'd had a history of health problems and there had recently been rumours that he may have been suffering from skin cancer.

As the news leaked out, hundreds of distraught fans flocked to UCLA hospital. TMZ, who broke the story, have spoken to a source inside the hospital who said it was “pandemonium” when Jackson was bought in.

Family

Jackson's mother, sister La Toya and close friend Elizabeth Taylor rushed to the hospital when they heard the news. Other members of the family began to gather at the hospital during the day.

Michael's brother Jermaine made a statement at the hospital, saying a team of doctors tried to resuscitate Michael for more than a hour. He also said, “Our family request that the media please respect our privacy during this tough time. And may Allah be with you, Michael, always. Love you.”

The star had three children, Michael Joseph Jackson Jr, Paris Michael Katherine Jackson – with second ex-wife Debbie Rowe – and Prince Michael Jackson II.

Michael was first married in 1996, to Elvis' daughter Lisa Marie Presley. She said, "I am so very sad and confused with every emotion possible. I am heartbroken for his children, who I know were everything to him and for his family. This is such a massive loss on so many levels, words fail me." Debbie Rowe was reported to be “inconsolable”.

Michael is survived by his mother, Katherine, father, Joseph and eight brothers and sisters, including Janet, Randy, Jermaine and La Toya Jackson.

Tributes

Civil rights activist Rev Al Sharpton paid tribute to his friend from outside the UCLA medical centre, saying, "I knew him 35 years. When he had problems he would call me," he said. "I feel like he was not treated fairly. I hope history will be more kind to him than some of the contemporary media."

Quincy Jones, who produced Michael Jackson's legendary Thriller album gave the following statement to celebrity gossip site TMZ... "I am absolutely devastated at this tragic and unexpected news. For Michael to be taken away from us so suddenly at such a young age, I just don't have the words. He was the consummate entertainer and his contributions and legacy will be felt upon the world forever. I've lost my little brother today, and part of my soul has gone with him."

Great friend Uri Geller said he was "devastated and lost for words". Speaking of the last time he heard from Jackson he said, "He was in good health, he was dancing, practising for the shows, I'm shocked, I cannot believe what I'm hearing and seeing. I'm waiting for a doctor to come out and say it, I want to hear it, I don't want to believe he's dead. I want to hear it from a doctor or his family."

Long-time friend an PR Jonathan Morrish paid tribute to Jackson last night telling Sky News, "It's a total shock." Regarding his health he said, "The last time I saw him he was in his usual lovely gentlemanly self, he was fine. You don't get to the top of the tree like he did without being incredibly strong mentally and physically."

He went on to pay tribute to Jackson's legacy: "He had his first hit in 1969 and his music will reverberate forever throughout the world. He leaves the world his music." On a personal level Morrish said, "He was a very special person. He was touched by genius which can often be a difficult thing to handle but he was a fantastic guy to be around. He was a wonderful, kind gentleman to me and my family. He had a great sense of humour and humility. He was a privilege to work with. He was a one off. The world of music is poorer for his passing."

Miranda Kerr has shocked the world by stripping off and chaining herself to a tree to help save koala bears.

The Victoria Secret model has gone au naturel on the cover of the Aussie edition of Rolling Stone magazine to boost the campaign to help save the cute creatures' habitat.

Miranda, who was born in Austrailia, hopes her risque photoshoot will help attract more people to join her koala crusade.

She tells the mag, "I feel strongly about the need to protect our natural environment because it supports our life - it really is that simple.

"It's a sad thing - there are only about 100,000 koalas left in Australia. Something like 80 per cent of the koalas' habitat has been destroyed since Europeans arrived in Australia.

"The great thing about having people recognise you is you can try to make a positive difference - that's what I'm trying to do, especially for young women."

The Victoria's Secret model is due to give birth this winter, after a rep for Adriana and hubby, Marko Jaric confirmed the happy news to US website People.

Adriana, who was recently voted as the world's 6th sexiest woman by FHM readers, is said to be very excited and happy about the news.

A rep told People: "Adriana and Marko are overjoyed that they are expecting their first child together and are excited to share the happy news and start their family together."

The news comes after Marko was cleared of sexually assaulting a woman back in March, after marrying Adriana in February.

Queen Elizabeth receives a gold-plated Wii

Buckingham Palace will be getting a special delivery today as THQ (a game developer) plans to deliver a golden Wii earmarked for the Queen.

The special Wii was created to mark the launch of Big Family Games, a collection of “24 unique twists on classic neighborhood games,” including golf, tennis, lawn darts and horseshoes, that comes out on May 22.

“Big Family Games is the ultimate Wii game to get all family members, from grandparents to young children, playing together.

The Royal Family is arguably the most important family in the country so we felt that they had to have a copy of the new game,” said THQ’s Danielle Robinson.

“But we thought that Her Majesty the Queen wouldn’t want to play on any old console, so an extra-special gold one was commissioned. We hope that she and the rest of the Royal Family enjoy the game!”

Oakley Inc announced that its S.I. Assault Boot will be appearing in "Terminator Salvation," the highly anticipated fourth installment of the blockbuster "Terminator" film franchise. The civilian version of combat gear developed for the U.S. Elite Special Forces, Oakley's S.I. Assault Boot is worn by the character John Connor.

The Oakley S.I. Assault Boot is a street version of gear developed specifically for the U.S. Elite Special Forces. Rachel Bilson's home has been burgled and the thieves took with them the actresses expensive fashion collection.

Jewellery, vintage shoes and a collection of Chanel clothes were all taken from Rachel's LA home.

A friend told People: "She's shaken, she feels violated... They stole [her television set,] all her designer labels - shoes, clothes, bags..."

"She collected a lot of vintage shoes - she’s a size 5 - and they took them all... All her jewellery, including some handed down to her by her grandmother... Fashion is her passion. She’s devastated."

LVMH's Stake In Bono's Fashion Line

An ethical fashion line by U2 singer Bono has been snapped up by luxury goods company LVMH.

Bono and his wife started Edun in 2005 and it hopes to promote sustainable development and fair trading by selling T-shirts and dresses in organic cotton made in poor countries including India, Peru and Kenya.

LVMH, which also owns designer labels such as Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs and Donna Karan has now taken a minority stake in Edun, Reuters reports.

LVMH Chief Executive Bernard Arnault said: "We are proud to contribute to the operational development of Edun and to the improvement of living standards of local communities."

Bono added: "With LVMH, we can step up (Edun's) development, giving greater stability to our suppliers and the local communities they support."

New York – She may not be a real person, but 50 years later she's still a fashion maverick: Barbie. She was just one of the honorees at the American Apparel and Footwear Association's 31st annual American Image awards, held in New York on Tuesday, May 12.
The AAFA honored Barbie along with real-life fashion luminaries and companies including Norma Kamali, Lily Pulitzer, Gilbert Harrison, Wolverine Worldwide, Inc. and QVC.
Hosted by Stay London, presenters Isaac Mizrahi, Carson Kressley and Hal Rubenstein mingled with guests that included designer Dennis Basso, Dylan Lauren and Countess LuAnn de Lesseps, who donned casual spring looks for the red carpet.
Kamali, who received the designer of the year award, wore one of her signature parachute skirts and gold jewelry.
CEO and President Blake W. Krueger accepted the lifestyle branding award on behalf of US footwear brand Wolverine Worldwide, Inc., which celebrated its 125th anniversary last year, producing brands such as Hush Puppies, Patagonia footwear and Harley-Davidson footwear.
AAFA named QVC received the retailer of the year award, while founder and chairman of Financo, Inc. was honored with the lifetime achievement award and Lily Pulitzer received the "Spirit of a Woman" award.
The AAFA sponsors the annual awards ceremony to benefit the Educational Foundation of FIT. Past honorees have included Diane von Furstenberg, Betsey Johnson and Simon Doonan of Barneys New York.

Paulina Porizkova say she was fired by 'Top Model'

NEW YORK – Paulina Porizkova got a pink slip from "America's Next Top Model." That's what the model-actress said Tuesday night on CBS' "The Late Late Show," dropping this bombshell to host Craig Ferguson: "Do you know why I'm in Los Angeles, besides seeing you? ... Because I'm looking for a job. Because I was fired by `America's Next Top Model' on my birthday."

Porizkova, who turned 44 on April 9, joined the judges' panel of the popular model-scouting series last year. Wednesday night's 12th season finale on the CW network marks her final appearance.

According to Porizkova, the firing happened over the phone.

"Just to be fair here, the reason I was told I was fired was because ... it seemed that `America's Next Top Model' had gotten too fat and they needed to cut some fat — and the fat was me," she explained to Ferguson.

Porizkova judged the crop of `Top Model' wannabes alongside fashion insiders J. Alexander, Nigel Barker and the show's creator and host, Tyra Banks.

Show representatives Jeff Tobler and Chelsea Hettrick declined to comment beyond confirming Porizkova's departure. The supermodel's publicist, Meghan Prophet, did not return a phone call regarding Tuesday's announcement.

Porizkova joked that her "gigantic huge ego" might have contributed to her untimely reality-show elimination. That prompted Ferguson to ponder whether there was rivalry between her and Banks.

Getting serious, she added: "I really believe that they just felt like they didn't need me, which, of course, they don't."

The sewing machines were fired up. The personalities were over-the-top. And the competition was fierce. On Thursday’s premiere of The Fashion Show on Bravo, 15 designers faced off in two distinct challenges. Tasked at first with designing a little black dress out of a plain black T-shirt, the competitors had to double down and get creative from the get-go. Judged by Harper’s Bazaar editor Laura Brown, three designers: Johnny R., Merlin and Keith emerged as winners.
Each were asked to pick designers for teams — and sew five distinct looks, each incorporating the same “must have” item. Team Johnny designed a collection around harem pants; Team Merlin was fraught with drama and created their collection around bolero jackets; and Team Keith crafted a spandex tube dress/skirt.
In the end, while only one contestant — Jonny — was sent packing for his too-tight and ill-fitting design, judges Isaac Mizrahi, Fern Mallis and Kelly Rowland weren’t impressed with any of the must-have looks. In fact, Mizrahi called the whole debut runway show “embarrassing.”
Ultimately, though, the winning looks were determined by fashion “industry insiders” in the audience, and James-Paul got the first prize: His design is on sale now at Bravotv.com. – Brian Orloff

USA TODAY presented designer Isaac Mizrahi, the co-host and judge of Bravo's new fashion competition reality show, The Fashion Show (premiering Thursday, 10 ET/PT ) with a cut-and-stitch challenge of his own: Transform a stack of humble newspapers into an elegant garment.

Mizrahi eagerly accepted the wearable dare: "I cannot let the gauntlet lie." A few Fashion Show rules were jettisoned in the interest of expediency, including the fact that unlike the 15 contestants, Mizrahi didn't have a strict time limit. (He is, after all, in the middle of zipping up his resort collection.)

But the medium didn't intimidate him. "I've done fun projects in newsprint before," from papier-mâché kid crafts to papier-mâché jewelry for his first collection.

Still, he acknowledged that turning newsprint into fabric comes with a host of challenges: It's fragile, it's stiff, and it smudges off on your hands. Mizrahi first figured he'd make something structured.

Designer Cardin Discharged From Hospital

French fashion icon Pierre Cardin has been released from hospital and is on the road to recovery after impressing doctors with his "perfectly satisfactory" health.

The couturier, 86, was airlifted from his residence in Lacoste, in the south of France, to Marseille after fainting from high blood pressure.

He was discharged on Thursday (07May09) and his representatives insist Cardin will resume his professional duties next week (begs11May09).

A statement says, "His state of health was judge to be perfectly satisfactory by his doctors and he will be able in a few days to resume his professional activities."

Cardin's hospitalisation on Tuesday came just days after he sought medical attention for a fractured shoulder blade following a fall on some stairs.
