Wu Chun officiates Fitness Zone's sports charity carnival

The closing ceremony for Fitness Zone's Sports Charity Carnival was full of life and colour yesterday, even more so as it was attended by its owner, local born Chinese musician, Wu Chun.

Guest of honours at the event were Pg Hj Md Yasin Pg Hj Ahmad from KACA as well as three senior officers from the Narcotics Control Bureau, Pg Hj Md Jaffari Hj Mahadi, Hj Sabtu Hj Sidup and Mr Ng Thing Chong.

Following the arrival of the guest of honours, the event began with a charity auction where sports equipment used throughout the carnival such as footballs personally signed by Wu Chun were sold and proceeds from the auction amounting to $4, 247 were donated to the KACA Association.

The event then saw some entertaining dance performances by a group that refer to themselves as HUM prior to the welcoming speech which was delivered by Wu Chun. He later presented a mock cheque to a representative from KACA.

Shortly after, the prize presentation began where in the Zone Race, 'Walter Team' emerged as the winners walking away with a full year of unlimited passport membership from Fitness Zone worth $3,840 for four individuals, one month for friends worth $600, a night stay at the deluxe room of Holiday Lodge Hotel, a buffet dinner at Rizqun Coffee House for four, a 10 per cent discount voucher from Pelangi De' Mutiara Tourist Square Sdn Bhd, $250 worth of fitness-link vouchers along with a certificate of participation for Zone Race Level 2, a T-shirt and a limited edition Fitness Zone cap.

The first runner-up was the '007 Team' who won themselves, six-months passport membership from Fitness Zone worth $2280 for four persons, weekend hi-tea at Rizqun Coffee Shop for four, $50 voucher from Lili's Lingerie and a night's stay in a standard room at the Holiday Lodge Hotel.

Team Zaibatsu who came third won themselves a three-month passport membership from Fitness Zone worth $1320 for four people, weekend hi-tea at Rizqun Coffee Shop for four and $50 voucher from Lili Lingerie.

In the Futsal category, first place went to Kota JRFC while Rakan Harmoni FC came second and Pascal Team FC was placed third. The futsal teams won $300, $200 and $100 respectively plus a trophy and certificates while Kota JRFC's Fajir Ismail received the best player award.

Shaharuddin and Airwan won the badminton competition by coming in first. Second place went to Edi Farhan and Hj Md Zul Fizal while third place went to Fang Bo Yaun and Andy. The winners were awarded cash prizes amounting to $200, $150 and $100 respectively along with medals and certificates.

The basketball contest saw the Bukit Ladang team emerging as overall champions with the Chevrolet and Wayne teams coming in at second and third place srespectively. The three teams were also awarded cash prizes amounting to $300, $200 and $150 as well as medals and certificates of participation.

Sports Carnival Held To Raise Funds For Special Children

Bandar Seri Begawan - Despite Brunei being a welfare-orientated country, the awareness of special-needs children still needs to be increased so that the public may be more understanding of their condition.

Brunei's leading health and fitness club, Fitness Zone, has launched a four-day charity sports carnival yesterday to raise funds for these children.

Having a younger brother, Fairul Azmi Hj Suhaimi, who is a down-syndrome child, Mohd Arif Fikri Hj Marzi highlighted that such children generally face challenges as they are "often misunderstood" by the public.

"Some people do talk negatively behind our backs and call him names, but I am not bothered because I know better," he said. "He is still family and we love him."

Special-needs children are "just like any other normal person", Mohd Arif said. In fact, these children may even be "more loving and caring" compared to other "so-called normal people".

'Although Fairul is only six, he tries to help around the house as much as he can such as sweeping the floor and washing the clothes," he said. "The only difference is that special children tend to be slower learners. That is all." Mohd Arif highlighted that the urgent need for families with special children is not monetary support but better facilities to help train these children.

"The biggest headache that we constantly face is trying to understand him through his gestures," he said. "I hope my brother will be able to speak one day (through proper training)." The primary school teacher also told The Brunei Times that the event is meaningful as it provides a platform for the public to discover more about special-needs children by mingling closely with them.

"Brunei may be a well-to-do country, but there are still people in the society who need our attention and help," said Wu Chun, the owner of Fitness Zone. He also commented that Brunei residents are generally compassionate and would love to help the needy, but are often unaware of the means available to do so.

"Organising such public events is therefore important to give the public an opportunity to actually contribute to help make a difference," said Wu, who is also a singer and actor. "People with such capacity should collaborate together to organise such events in the future on a consistent basis."

Participant for the Fitness Zone charity programme Keeran Janin thinks that the special children are "in good hands" as Brunei residents are usually "well taken care of". Judging from the "visible support" observed at the event, he said, Bruneians are generally quite concerned about the welfare of these children.
The event, specially organised by the Association for Children with Special Needs (Kaca) and UNICEF, was attended by Sheikh Jamaluddin Sheikh Mohammed, the Director of Tourism in Brunei who was the guest of honour. Also attending the function was Mohd Jaffari Hj Mahadi, the head of the supervision division of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and other NCB officers.

Lady GaGa Vows to 'Kick @$$' at VMA's

Today, it was announced that both Lady Gaga and Jay-Z will be bringing their larger-than-life stage shows to this year's MTV Video Music Awards, adding much hype to the notoriously spectacle-driven ceremony.

The bold and beautiful Gaga didn't spare any enthusiasm for the event. "I'm simply gutted to be both a performer and nominee at the 2009 VMAs. In fact, I'm so happy, I could die," Gaga said, according to MTV News.

Gaga previously gushed about the VMA's when it was announced she'd tied with Beyonce for scoring the most nominations of any performer this year -- nine.

"So excited! I can't believe it," Gaga told reporters in Seoul, South Korea, according to MTV News. "I'm delighted to be in Beyoncé's company, and I can't wait to go to the awards show and hopefully kick some ass."

Blogger Perez Hilton has talked up Gaga's performance already, saying he knows what she has in store but has been "sworn to secrecy."

"All we can say is that it will be the most talked about performance of the night," Hilton raves. "And it WILL BE the best!"

Other VMA performers this year include Taylor Swift, Green Day, Muse and Pink. Russel Brand, British comic and actor, will be reprising his role from last year as host. Presenters include Leighton Meester, Nelly Furtado, Miranda Cosgrove, Chace Crawford, Katy Perry and Ne-Yo.

The VMAs will broadcast live from Radio City Music Hall on Sept. 13 at 9 p.m.

Wu Chun considers investing in basketball club

BRUNEIAN Chinese actor Wu Chun said that he was interested in investing in a basketball club, as he recalled a match against Yao Ming in their teen years, the China Daily reported.

“It (investing in a basketball team) is a pretty good idea, and perhaps one day I will buy one,” the businessman-turned-actor told China Daily in an interview on Aug 9, without elaborating further.

Wu, 30, is an ardent fan of basketball legend Michael Jordan. He still remembers the result of the game between Brunei and China at an Asian tournament for teens in the Philippines. “It was 126:28, we lost,” he said. “1 was 14 or 15 then.”

Wu played against China’s two most powerful giants -Yao Ming, now NBA Houston Rockets centre, and Wang Zhizhi, a former NBA player who is now the centre of Bayi Shuanglu Rockets of China.

“The Chinese players were so tall, and all rebounds were theirs,” Wu said. During the match, a much smaller Wu had to confront Yao, because Wu was already one of the tallest of his team. No record on the three’s heights at the time was available.

Wu is now 1.83m tall, compared with Wang’s 2.14m and Yao’s 2.26m. But Wu still managed to be the top scorer of his team at that match, with 10 points, a performance “already handsome enough”, he said.
China won the title of the tournament that year.

Wu said sports have become part of his life and bring him business opportunities. Wu earned his first bucket of gold, B$1,000 (US$700), at the age of 14 by organising a basketball tournament in Brunei. He now runs two gymnasiums in the country and plans to open the third in January.

Wu said that he was approached by some investors to launch gymnasiums on the Chinese mainland. “I will invest in big cities,” he said, naming Shanghai as a possible place.

A member of Taiwan pop band Fahrenheit, Wu gained an initial success after he played a part in
Taiwan idol TV drama “Tokyo Juliet” in 2005. TV drama “Hanazakarino Kimitachihe”, adapted from a Japanese cartoon in 2006, made him a star in the Chinese community.

In both dramas, Wu acted as a student. His first movie “Sword Butterfly”, based on a Chinese classic romance, was put on show last year. His second movie, “14 Blazes”, has also been completed.

Its stars include Hong Kong action star Donnie Yen and mainland actress Zhao Wei. The movie tells a story of special government agents in the Ming Dynasty (1368 – 1644) and Wu acts a judge.

But Victoria has decided not to renew her one-year contract with the top design house choosing instead to put all her energy into her various fashion and beauty ventures, reports imdb.com.

Fitness Zone To Open New Gym In Serusop

Bandar Seri Begawan - Fitness Zone, one of the leading fitness centres in Brunei Darussalam, will open another branch in the commercial area of Serusop early next year.

This was revealed by the owner of Fitness Zone, Wu Chun, who has made a name of himself in the entertainment industry overseas.

Known for his passion for fitness and healthy lifestyle, Wu Chun said that he hopes to see more people in Brunei sweat it out in the gym. According to Wu Chun, who is one of the members of "Fahrenheit", the level of knowledge in fitness in the Sultanate is still lacking.

"People in places like Singapore or Hong Kong are so concerned about their fitness and health that they would even hit the gym during lunch time," he said.

Wu Chun is confident that with the opening of Fitness Zone's new branch in Serusop, the fitness centre will be able to educate more people about the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle. He said that the new branch, which cost around $400,000 to build, will have a "new concept and theme" to cater to the taste of Bruneians.

Wu Chun said that Fitness Zone's new centre may officially open its doors to the public as early as January 2010. "If I have time, I may return to Brunei to officiate the opening ceremony," he said.

Wu Chun, who is currently in Brunei for a short holiday after wrapping up filming for his latest action movie, "AC14 Blades", in which he stars alongside well-known acting talents such as Donnie Yen, Zhao Wei and Qi Yuwu.

"14 Blades" is Wu Chun's second big screen movie after the much talked-about film, "Butterfly Lovers", in which he co-starred with Charlene Choi.

The new movie tells the story of a highly trained warrior from the late Ming Dynasty who is forced to fight his former comrades in order to protect the prosperity of the empire.

Wu Chun hopes to return to Brunei for the premiere of the new movie, which is scheduled to be released early next year. Fitness Zone opened its first branch in Brunei at The Mall in Gadong in 2004. The former Spice Girl "will be a guest judging on one episode," her publicist tells "The Insider."

However, the "Posh" diva won't be on the panel full-time, as she's very dedicated to her fashion line and doesn't want to take too much time away from overseeing the brand.

"The Insider" also confirms that singer Katy Perry will be making a guest appearance as well.

The news comes on the heels of Paula Abdul announcing that she will not be returning to the show this season.

Selfridges, London is the premiere location where the debut cosmetic collection will be available and showcased exclusively in a space that tells the story of the collection’s creation.

Scarlett who is famous for her Marylin Monroe looks carried this into her latest ad campaign for the Italian designers Dolce & Gabbana, although she was not her normal curvy self, the 24-year-old looked lean and toned as she posed for the cameras. Her figure change was most likely the result of slimming down to fit into a skintight catsuit for her Iron Man 2 role.

Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures has revealed its line-up for the San Diego Comic-Con. Here is the full press release:

Animation greats Hayao Miyazaki and John Lasseter and directors Robert Zemeckis and Tim Burton will take part in their first ever Comic-Con at the San Diego Convention Center July 23-24. The filmmakers will be on hand to help Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures showcase a wide-ranging roster of upcoming films, including 3D juggernauts ALICE IN WONDERLAND, TRON and DISNEY’S A CHRISTMAS CAROL, and animated gems THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, PONYO and the TOY STORY trilogy.

Bonnie Wright Appears at PURE Fashion Exhibit

Jennifer Love Hewitt has revealed that her dream role would be to play Wonder Woman.

The Ghost Whisperer actress has insisted that she has the perfect body for the part, Contactmusic reports.

Hewitt said: "I want to play Wonder Woman really badly. I want them to make the movie of Wonder Woman, and I want to play Wonder Woman so bad. That'd be really fun.

"I'm curvaceous. Gold bracelets! Look at these wrists, tell me gold bracelets would not look good! And I love little tiaras, and Wonder Woman got to wear one of those. I'm very athletic."

Other actresses that have expressed an interest in the role are Beyoncé, Jessica Biel and Vanessa Hudgens.

Harry Potter star Emma Watson is taking her first steps into a fashion career – but like her goody-goody character Hermione Granger, she’s keeping it strictly ethical.

The 19-year-old actress is close to clinching a deal with Fairtrade company People Tree to create a teenage clothing line, which she hopes to launch later this year.

The London-based firm’s organic clothes are sold at Topshop and online.

Emma, who is hoping to do a photoshoot this month, wants the range to have a ‘casual rock feel’ and has called on model Tafari Hinds – son of Massive Attack’s Horace Andy – to help.

She has said she is not a fan of celebrities cashing in on their names but a source said: ‘She’s a big supporter of ethical concepts so liked the idea of this.

'There’s also a lot of interest from other influential brands since her success as the face of Burberry.

'Acting is always going to take priority, but she’s keen to branch out.’

But the young star’s focus will soon be her studies. It is thought she will attend Brown University on Rhode Island.

A spokesperson for the actress said: ‘Emma supports many Fairtrade organisations but has no formal relationship with any company.’

Wal-Mart unveils new fashion line with Miley Cyrus

Major retailer Wal-Mart recently unveiled plans to launch a fashion line with Miley Cyrus, linking itself to a top teenage pop star at about the time back-to-school shopping begins.

Cyrus, the star of the hit Disney Channel series "Hannah Montana," will team with designer Max Azria, of BCBGMAXAZRIA, to create a line of budget-friendly items: graphic tees, tops, pants, shoes and accessories, all under $20.

In a statement, Wal-Mart said the line will reflect the rock-n-roll roots of 16-year-old Cyrus, who has scored musical hits with her Hannah Montana albums and enjoyed strong success at film box offices with her "Hannah Montana: The Movie."

Her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, is a country singing star in his own right, famous for his country tune "Achy Breaky Heart."

Fashion designer now becomes the latest title for the teen star, who has singer, actress and author already under her belt. "I love creating looks that are all about personal expression and individuality," Cyrus said in a statement.

The line is expected to hit Wal-Mart stores in August, just in time for back-to-school shopping, and Wal-Mart also is sponsoring Cyrus' North America concert tour that starts in September.

American actress-singer Jessica Simpson's new TV show "The Price of Beauty" is proving to be a costly affair for the bosses, as she is spending $25,000 an episode to ensure she looks good in front of the camera.

The star is set to jet around the world for the new VH1 project, which will examine different beauty regimes in a variety of cultures but TV bosses have been forced to come to grips with the real price of Simpson's beauty, as a staggering $25,000 is spent on a hair and make-up team for the singer, reports dailystar.co.uk.

"To get her camera-ready each episode will cost $25,000. She insists on using her own hair, makeup and fashion stylists, who are more expensive than JLos," said a source.

"A budget was approved when the deal was made. All parties were satisfied," the source added.

Vogue Girl took Yoon Eun Hye to the Indonesian island of Bali for a magazine feature. In addition to the beachside photo shoot, an interview on her current preferences was included in Vogue Girl’s August issue. Translated excerpts are below.

Vogue Girl (VG): Tastes change little by little over time. We want to talk more about actress Yoon Eun Hye’s tastes (preferences) at present in 2009. What movie do you currently like?
Yoon Eun Hye (YEH): I used to watch a lot of trendy movies but now I tend to choose films that give off a new feeling whenever I watch. In that aspect, Eternal Sunshine [of the Spotless Mind] is always the best movie for me.

VG: What about a book?
YEH: I’ve read a lot of books, but in one moment I got into a condition where I couldn’t even read one page of a book properly. Because I had too many thoughts. I’d read one page, think about something else, and then read that same page again but feel like it was the first time, so books that I could have easily read in one or two days would take a week. But the amazing thing is when I read a book while in a state of wanting solace or having something to reflect on, I always come across a passage that fits that situation. Then I receive strength or find a solution through that passage.

VG: What kind of music do you listen to these days?
YEH: It depends on the weather or my mood, but I generally listen to jazz or 트리팝 these days. I liked Jason Mraz a while ago, but I’m on a break right now (laughter). My hands aren’t used to the method of putting songs on an MP3 player so I don’t use it much. Plus, I feel better when buying CDs rather than downloading music.

VG: What food do you like to the point of having to eat it at least once a week?
YEH: If I choose all of the food that I like, they’re all ‘foods that I know very well don’t benefit the body but can’t give up’. Bread, chocolate, ice cream, black bean noodles, pizza, tteokbokki (KP’s note: 떡볶이; referred to as stir-fried rice pasta on Naver’s encyclopedia)! I have to pay attention to managing my figure since I’m going into a new production now, but it’s too hard to fight the temptation of a sweet pancake or waffle when I go to a cafe. I think to myself that I mustn’t eat it but when the food is put in front of me, I eat it without a second thought.

VG: What type of flower do you like?
YEH: I don’t like flowers that much. Although they’re beautiful when in full bloom, it’s so wasteful to throw them out when they’ve wilted. That’s why I don’t particularly like to receive flower bouquets as gifts. Although I’d have to reconsider that if it’s a boyfriend who gives me some. Ah, I like it when I see freesias because they remind me of my mother who likes them.

VG: What fashion items do you enjoy wearing these days?
YEH: Although I shouldn’t, there are a lot of times recently when putting on clothes is bothersome. At times like those, the solution is always jeans and a white t-shirt. I used to like a feminine style before.

VG: Is there a style icon that you like?
YEH: I do look at foreign fashionistas but it’s simply to compare; I haven’t considered wanting to copy them.

VG: Where’s a travel destination that remains in your memory?
YEH: I’ve been all over our country for work purposes, but for vacation, a trip to see the ocean at Sokcho three years ago is all. I’ve also flown abroad a countless number of times but as a matter of fact, personal vacations have been rare. No, not rare, but a trip to Tokyo with friends has been the first and the last [personal trip] so far. Tokyo is a city that I like because it’s close enough to leave quickly and there are lots of yummy things to eat. Hawaii is a place that I want to go to! A friend recommended it, saying that it’s a place that [he/she] thinks I’ll like.

VG: What kind of guy do you feel attracted to?
YEH: When I was young, there were times when I was attracted to the so-called ‘bad boy’. However, more and more I’m beginning to like and feel secure with a good, upright person who treats elders well. It’s ok if he’s a bit gruff. Because he can just be charmingly cute to me.

VG: When do you feel happy?
YEH: Rather than at a special moment, I’m just happy these days. I think this is the happiest time of my life so far. Although I feel uneasy that the happiness could crack, I’ve resolved not to think like that anymore.

VG: What do you do to get out of melancholy?
YEH: Similar things as other people. Go watch a movie with staff members, go to karaoke, and chat with friends at a coffee shop. If the stress is really severe, I cry alone at home. And that’s how I shake it off.

VG: When was the time you felt most proud of yourself?
YEH: Everytime I see my present self, I feel pride. Because I’ve experienced a lot since I debuted when I was young, because I receive fans’ love as an actress, and because I’ve received some extent of recognition in the field of acting. Although my body and mind get exhausted when I work, I find it amazing that I can endure it when I’m about to collapse. Of course there were difficult times in the past, but I think everything’s ok now. That might be why I’m happy now.

Joel Madden: Singer, Fashion Designer, Best Selling Novellist?

Good Charlotte rocker Joel Madden has has confirmed that he’s working on a memoir, but says he’s unsure when the book will see the light of day, as he won’t “put a book out there if it’s not actually meaningful.”

“I’m lightly working on one,” Madden, 30, told People magazine before participating in the Hollywood Stars Celebrity Softball game at Dodger Stadium.

“But, I don’t want to put a book out there if it’s not actually meaningful. I’m not going to go there unless I can deliver.”

The project is in early stages, but the young dad – girlfriend Nicole Richie is pregnant with their second child, a sibling for their baby girl Harlow – says the book will definitely “be about my life”.

“It would be about, mostly, the big changes in my life: kids, relationships, moving to L.A…the big life changes that I’ve gone through,” he says.

“If I put a book out, I want it to be something that matters to me. It has to be real, you can’t just put a book out, to put a book out. I want every page to mean something.”

Jessica Simpson Banned By Romo

Jessica Simpson has been banned from her ex-boyfriend's house.

American football star Tony Romo, who dumped Jessica earlier this month, allegedly told the security team at the Dallas gated community where he lives not to let the singer-and-actress in.

According to Us Weekly magazine, a sign at the entrance of his home reads: "Red alert! Tony Romo has made some changes to his list of people allowed in. Jessica is no longer on the list and not approved for access."

However, it seems Jessica has no interest in pursuing her former boyfriend.

The 29-year-old blonde beauty reportedly paid $19,000 to have 37 boxes containing her belongings transported from the athlete's home to Los Angeles just days after Tony ended their romance on July 9 - the night before her birthday.

Jessica has been enjoying her single status by going to the cinema and having dinner with her friends and her mother Tina Simpson.

The star has also been spending time with her nephew Bronx, the eight-month-old son of her sister Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and her husband Pete Wentz.

Jessica told Pete on her Twitter blog last weekend: "Auntie Jess bought BX his first swim trunks - Burberry style!! A day of babysitting and I'm in love!

Leonardo DiCaprio was reportedly seen partying with Pussycat Dolls star Ashley Roberts over the weekend in London.

The Revolutionary Road star, who flew into the UK from Madrid yesterday, was seen chatting with Roberts, 27, at the Cartier International Polo event in Windsor, according to the Daily Mail.

The couple are reported to have met at the post-match party hosted by Chinawhite, before DiCaprio invited the 'Hush Hush; Hush Hush' singer to accompany him to Mayfair's Whiskey Mist nightclub, where he allegedly ran up a £6,000 bar bill.

"Leo's table was surrounded by some of the girls he had met at the polo, but he seemed more interested in talking to Ashley than anyone else and the pair were getting on really well," said a source.

DiCaprio was previously alleged to have shared dinner and partied with Cameron Diaz in the capital, while he has also been mobbed by female admirers during a night out at Jalouse club last week.

Kim Kardashian and her boyfriend of two years, New Orleans Saints running back Reggie Bush, are going their separate ways, the reality star's rep confirms to PEOPLE.

The pair, who recently returned from a charity trip to Africa with Kardashian's sister Khloe, just last May talked about "heading" toward marriage, but sources tell PEOPLE their relationship suffered from the time they spent apart – with yet another separation looming with the upcoming NFL season.

"They never get to see each other, ever," the source says. "It's been a long time coming. They still love each other and are part of their lives, but Reggie spends six months out of the year in New Orleans, so it's tough."

It's also the antithesis to Hollywood. But then, Katherine Heigl (Katie to her friends) has always marched to the beat of her own drum.

Within a year of landing a role on the hit show Grey's Anatomy, Heigl was branded "outspoken" when she jumped to the defence of Grey's colleague and friend T.R. Knight when their co-star Isaiah Washington called him a "faggot" before he had officially come out.

When she was promoting Knocked Up, she dubbed it "slightly sexist". She described 27 Dresses as "a piece of fluff".

Heigl ended up being criticised herself. She was called ungrateful but she was just being honest.

"It really kind of depresses me," she says. "Because this is obviously not a standard in Hollywood and maybe we should make it one. Maybe we should be a little more honest because people appreciate it. Ask me anything.".

OK, back to orgasms then. Does she think the real power in a relationship comes from men never knowing whether a woman's orgasm is real or not and therefore it's a way to keep them on their toes?

"That's a great idea," she laughs. "Maybe this is too much information but Josh insists he can tell the difference," she says, referring to her musician husband, Josh Kelley, whom she married in 2007.

The subject came up because in her latest film, The Ugly Truth, there's a moment that might become one of the most memorable orgasm scenes in movie history even more memorable than Meg Ryan's breathy performance in When Harry Met Sally.

In the film (described as a sexcom because it's raunchier than a romcom), Heigl plays Abby, a television producer who takes an instant dislike to Mike Chadwick (Gerard Butler), the host of the station's highest-rating show, The Ugly Truth.

The show consists of Chadwick telling women what men want. He's crude and rude but when she discovers his macho intuition works, she enlists his help to win over her sexy neighbour.

"I loved it because I'm 30 now and my girlfriends are 30. This is a relatable story for us," Heigl says. "We're all at that place in our lives where, if we haven't met that guy, we're wondering what the hell we're doing wrong."

Heigl met Mr Right in 2005, when she was cast in Kelley's music video, Only You. It took him a little longer to realise she was Miss Right. She thinks he was playing it "a bit cooler", which is what she would normally do. But she was so certain about him she took the bull by the horns and asked him out.

Ad Feedback She told Britain's The Times newspaper: "He was everything I was looking for, or needed, or wanted in my life.

"I'd been through enough relationships to understand myself better. I knew what it was I needed from someone, so it's not a waste of everybody's time."

Heigl doesn't like to waste time, or waste happiness. The youngest of four siblings, she has a brother named Holt and a sister, Meg. She was seven when her other brother, Jason, was killed in a car accident. When she was 20, her mother, Nancy, was diagnosed with breast cancer. She endured nine months of chemo and a mastectomy and is now cancer-free.

Mother and daughter are impossibly close. Heigl dedicated her 2007 Emmy to her. Nancy is also her manager and they have a production company together.

For Heigl, producing means power and after 18 years in the business she started modelling at nine before making her first feature at 14 it's understandable that she wants to call the shots.

It's a lot of work and, given her desire for children, she's wondering how she will juggle it.

"I don't want to give up my career," she says. "And I don't want Josh to. I've been really, really lucky because my husband is super supportive. He'd never ask me to compromise that so I could be home to make him dinner. It is 2009, after all."

But Heigl does admit she's always wanted to have children. Then the comedian in her raises her head and she starts on Hollywood's fixation with size zero.

"I know I'm curvy, so it's a club I don't belong to but I am warning you now I am not going to be one of those chicks who doesn't look fat from behind. I'm going to look pregnant all over, from my toes up," she jokes.

Before we finish up, Heigl wants to know whether the women in the audience liked the film.

I tell her that a few thought it could have been raunchier. "Are you kidding?" she splutters, then adds, referring to Butler's line in the film: "How is, 'Put my d*** in your a**' not raunchy?" You really can't help but like the girl.

The interview was to have taken place at the Four Seasons Hotel, Beverley Hills, but on the day in question, there was a bomb scare and everyone had to be evacuated. Heigl took it all in her stride, relocating interviews to a little restaurant in the street behind the hotel.

She wore a pair of black Thierry Mugler slacks topped with a black short-sleeve shirt and a straw fedora-style hat. Heigl left the hat on during the interview but a few wisps of hair escaped and it was obvious she was sporting a darker shade for her next role, in Five Killers.

Plans for big screen power hour on hold

Empire caught up with Jack Bauer this afternoon at Comic-Con's 24 panel. While taking in a sneak peak at the upcoming season eight, we got the skinny from Kiefer Sutherland on whether another 24 movie is in the works and whether a theatrical appearance might one day be on the cards.

"Well, there has been a lot of work done researching ideas for a film or a potential film franchise," explains Sutherland. "But the energy that's required to make the 24 episodes a year... we agreed that we would put any serious planning for a film aside until we were finished with the series. So outside talking about ideas for a film it hasn’t gone any farther than that. But there are certainly some cool ideas and we’d love to make it.”

So no big screen Power hour (and a half?) for the forseeable future, though they're not ruling out a second feathure-length, standalone episode in the future. God dammit, Chloe!
