It's the most wonderful time of the year. No, not Christmas, although for fashionista's, fashion journalists and fashion lovers it may as well be!

Last night the fashion, hollywood, and art elite gathered in Manhattan for the 2011 Met Gala, hosted annually by Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour. Salma Hayek and her husband Francois-Henri Pinault helped with the unveiling of the exhibit, which celebrates the life and work of Alexander McQueen.

The Most Glamorous Hangover Ever

I am a Judd Apatow fan, so you can imagine my excitement when I found out that he has a new film coming out May13, that teams him [again] with director Paul Feig. The film? Bridesmaids.

I think, if this movie is done right, it will be hysterical and more on point than these other cheesy bridal movies.
Its been hailed as the women's answer to The Hangover, and judging by the cast's Harper's Bazaar shoot they achieved it.

The all-female cast [Kristen Wiig, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Rose Byrne, Maya Rudolph, Ellie Kemper and Melissa McCarthy] are pictured during, and after, a drunken shopping bing while dressed head-to-toe in designer labels, with smudgy 'day old' eye make-up and cleverly mussed hair.

The ladies on their way to cause shopping destruction.

One night stand with Louis, and cutting their losses.

The morning after.

I am a big fan of Kristin Wiig and Rose Byrne, and when fashion is in the mix... Well I think it's a must see!

Spring Trends 2011

Want to know what trends are hot for Spring? Well look no further, here are five sizzling trends you should try now and also tips on how to wear them. [If you would like a closer look, click on the picture to enlarge it.]

The trend: Color

Leave those pale, boring colors behind, this Spring it's all about big bold brights.

What sets these dazzling colors apart are the unexpexted combinations of pinks, oranges, turquoise, purples, yellows, limes, and greens.

These jolts of color create such brigh contrasts that will leave people turning heads.

How to wear it:

The colors you choose don't matter as long as you keep the shade closest to your beautiful face flattering and you keep the accessories [shoes and bag] neutral.

Your lips can either be bare or brilliantly bold to make the brightness of your ensemble.

The trend: Menswear

Just picture it, a nice blazer with wide lapels and a crisp white shirt is tucked in. No I'm not talking about my dad's suit but rather the new 'it' look for Spring.

I tend to be stickler for posture, but the operative word for this look is "slouch", slouchy menswear suits are the new sexy.

How to wear it:

I love a good polished look, but with this look it's okay to leave the cuffs open, peg the pants, or even wear skinny pants or short shorts in a pop of color. The more undone, the more you've done it right

The trend: Seventies

Rarely has a retro trend come roaring back so literally, of all the Spring trends this is probably one of my favorite trends. [However I am a bit biased because I am obsessed with the seventies.]
It's all about sexy halters, floppy hats, turbans, safari jackets, beaded macramé, jumpsuits, and chunky platforms.
This trend was inspired by last year’s Yves Saint Laurent retrospective in Paris, and I think we can all agree that anything to do with YSL in the seventies is purely amazing.

How to wear it:

If there's a trend you can indulge in, it's this one. Do your hair big, wear exaggerated jewelry, line your eyes with kohl, and dress as if you’re planning to stay out all night.

The trend: White

The silhouette doesn't matter, it can be a peasant blouse, Edwardian, a classic blazer, or minimalist gown, white is a fresh, pure choice.

How to wear it:

Go for a look that fits for your lifestyle. Also go all out with white accessories, but keep them sleek.

Nude and camel shoes look great with the minimal white, plus nude color shoes elongate the legs.. You can't wrong with that!

The trend: Lace

When wearing lace, leave the Victorian era behind.

The ultimate girlie fabric takes on a modern twist this season.
Rock that girly lace tank, but mix it up with a leather mini... Lace shouldn't just be chic and feminine, make it cool.

How to wear it:

Sure a chantilly gown is still luxurious, but definitely keep the seductiveness in check. A loose t-shirt, mini, or chunky heels give a fresh edge.
However when wearing lace avoid color, black, white or nude looks rich and alluring.

Awards season come and go every year and there's always a fashionista in the making that just sparkles above the rest and this year is no exception. A particular girl has proven that she's got what it takes to back up her newly minted status as 'starlet-in-demand' wearing Miu Miu, Prada, Marchesa, and Prabal Gurung dresses on the red carpet that are whimiscal, fresh, adorable and gasp, age appropriate too.

Hailee Steinfeld is definitely the one to watch for this year, she is styled by the great bi-coastal team Kemal & Karla, who have also styled other great fashionista's like Zooey Deschanel, Olivia Wilde, Anna Paquin, and Heather Morris.

Goodbye 2010!

Break out the bubbly, it's officially 2011!

What I love most about New Years is the fact that it is completely new and fresh.

Of course, before you can begin to restart the new year and make resolutions we will probably break [I stopped making resolutions years ago, instead I just try to be the best person I can be!] we have to take a last look of the year that was 2010.

2010 gave us many moments of love, happiness, agony, and 'what the hell were they thinking?'.
But my favorite has always been the overall best of the best.
Favorite looks of fashion darlings that have been keeping us talking, or saving pictures online and cutting up from the glossies because we simply can't get enough!

Here are my 2010 fashion stars.

Lucy Hale.
Lucy was in my one of my favorite short lived shows of 2008, Priviledged. But good news, she stars as Aria in my new tv obsession.. Last summers break out hit, Pretty Little Liars.
Lucy is an up-and-coming star, and besides having great style and perfectly arched brows.. The girl can sing! Blake Lively.
Not only was the gorgeous Gossip Girl star in a hit movie this past year [the Town] but she's also starring in this summers anticipated big blockbuster the Green Lantern.
She also managed to woo fashion icons like Anna Wintour and Karl Lagerfeld and sit front row center at almost every show.
2010 was definitely a good year for Blake. Carey Mulligan.
Carey has hit A-list status with her role in An Education. The petit star sparkled on the red carpet earlier this year, and she managed a romance with Shia LaBeouf. She is continuing her rise of stardom, she scored the coveted role of Daisy Buchanan in the Great Gatsby remake and reportedly also scored the role of Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady. Lea Michele.
The girl has an INSANE voice, she can act, and dance, She's a triple threat.
Aside from that she is also stars in one of my favorite shows.. I don't know if you've heard of it, it's called Glee? Leighton Meester.
2010 was the year the Gossip Girls took over, Leighton's style on and off-screen has been getting our attention.
She's also branching out in music, she will star in Country Strong with Gwyneth Paltrow. Olivia Palermo.
Olivia is perhaps one of my fave fashionista's. I adore her uptown style mixed with high and low end pieces.
She is the gorgeous new face of Mango, and reports are surfacing that the she is hard at work on her very own line as well as reality show. Emma Watson.
Emma always gets people talking with her amazing red carpet style.
She also got people talking when she chopped off her hair with an incredible 'Rosemary's baby' pixie cut as sign of 'rebellion'.
She was also in 2010 most anticipated film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows pt 1, and she will star as Hermoine again in the final Potter film this summer. So my loves, these are some of my favorite style stars of 2010. Who were yours?

Hello loves, I have been away for quite some time and I say that it's about time for my comeback!

It's the first official day of winter, hence this morning's lunar eclipse [which, if you saw it, was spectacular].

I have to say that winter is probably one of my favorite seasons, for sure. I just love the crisp cool weather that makes you crave warm goodies like hot chocolate, warm gingerbread and sugar cookies, and my personal favorite drink from Starbucks a grande Caramel Brulee.

For some reason, when it's winter time I love to watch season six of Sex and the City. Even though I've seen it 25,798,916,934 times, I can't get enough!
I love season six because until then, the show was mainly focused on spring/summer weather and season six brought the amazing mystic fall/winter weather that New Yorkers love and love to hate.

I always refer back to my fashion hero in season six, because I adore Carrie's winter wardrobe. Plenty of cozy and stylish sweaters, boots, and of course her accessories like her hats, scarves, and even a hand muff/hand warmer.

I wanted to write about some of my favorite winter looks that Carrie wore in hope for inspiration for myself and to all of you darlings, to make this winter season a fabulous one. xo xo,

My girl crush was at an all time low, I think partly, that's why I was away so long. I was in need of some style/fashion inspiration again.

While everyone is talking about the VMA's, Taylor Swift, and Kanye West today I want to talk about Lady Gaga.

Whether you love her or question her sanity, Lady Gaga is a beast.
She is after all 'Mama Monster', what else can we expect from someone with that name attached?

Even the shows host, Chelsea Handler, paid homage to Gaga by opening the show in a Lady Gaga inspired gown while Bad Romance played on. Lady Gaga has proved to us time and time again that she is a force to be dealt with, and last nights VMA's were no exception.
She won an impressive 8 'Moon Men' awards and was nominated for 13.

She arrived for the show in the same Alexander McQueen dress she wore in September's Vanity Fair.
But of course in true Gaga fashion, during the show she later changed outfits twice, as is her practice.

However the most controversial outfit was her Meat dress [along with her meat purse] she wore when she accepted the coveted Video of the Year award.

While most were a little stunned, and most grossed out by her choice, should we even be surprised? Shouldn't we expect her outfits by now?

Most people were offended by her meat dress but just know that Gaga doesn't mean to offend, in fact here is her Ellen DeGeneres interview explaining her thought behind the now infamous dress.....

“Well, it is certainly no disrespect to anyone that is vegan or vegetarian,” Gaga explained. “As you know, I am the most judgement-free human being on the earth. However, it has many interpretations. For me this evening, if we don’t stand up for what we believe in and if we don’t fight for our rights pretty soon, we’re going to have as much rights as the meat on own bones. And, I am not a piece of meat.”

I am a HUGE Lady Gaga fan and that will not change whether she is wearing a bubble dress, a Kermit dress, or a meat dress. She has turned the fashion world upside down and I love it!

Texas Girls Are Unforgettable

A couple of things everyone should know about Texans...

1. We eat, breathe, sleep football [all of my family members are die hard Cowboys fan]. Football is practically religion here.

2. We love our sweet tea [some call it Texas oil].

3. We are proud people.

So speaking of proud, Katy Perry sings about 'California Gurls', but it's really all about Texas girls.
We love our cowboy boots, daisy dukes, and especially our heels! I can't tell you how many times in high school it would be freezing cold [and by freezing I mean 50° and above, were from the south were not used to cold weather!] and girls would still be strutting their stuff in heels.

So to prove my theory, I've gathered a few of my favorite southern fashionista's to prove that Texas girls are unforgettable. Did you notice that the 2nd picture in all of the collages are of the ladies wearing cowboy boots? Not a coincidence!
Cowboy boots are so comfortable, Texas girl or not I think every girl should own a pair.

Pretty Little Liars

As most of you know I am a total Gleek, but there is another tv show that I cannot get enough of and that is Pretty Little Liars.

I watched the first episode and from then on I was hooked! It's so good, the book is a mix of Gossip Girl and Desperate Housewives, so it definitely fills the void that Gossip Girl left.

It also doesn't hurt that I love the girls' wardrobe [especially Aria's hippie/vintage look and Spencer's classic prepster].

Pretty Little Liars is about five girls [Alison DiLaurentis, Aria Montgomery, Emily Fields, Spencer Hastings, and Hanna Marin]. Alison, or Ali, is manipulative, vindictive, and deceitful. She is the 'queen bee' in their little quiet and pristine town of Rosewood.

Alison ruled over her clique, but often found her match in Spencer who was the only one who has ever stood up to Ali.

Spencer is a perfectionist, she's always trying to outdo and outwin her over-achiever sister. [Spencer's style is preppy and classic.]

Hanna was a little overweight and dying to be popular that she always caved in to what Ali said or did.[Hanna was never comfortable with her old body, but since losing the weight she is now the fashionista she always wanted to be.]

Emily is a competitive swimmer from an ultra-conservative family, she is most protective of Alison because she loves her more than a friend. [Emily is very All-American and sporty casual.]

Aria is a former outsider that was the free spirit of the group. [Aria's style is very bohemian, she loves vintage]

Aria reluctantly returns to Rosewood after she and her family moved to Iceland for a year, finding out that former nerd Mona Vanderwaal and a newly-thin Hanna Marin to be the new 'queen bees'. Ali disappears after getting into a heated argument with Spencer at a sleepover with the other girls, and the group falls apart.

Soon Aria begins an affair with her English teacher, Spencer falls for her sister's boyfriend, Emily falls for the new girl [Maya] that moved into Ali's old house although she is dating Ben, Hanna shoplifts and gets caught, and Ali is still missing.

Ultimately, Alison's body is found cemented in her former back yard, where Maya lives, and the DiLaurentis family holds a funeral for Alison in Rosewood.
But a mysterious person called "A" threatens to reveal the girls' secrets from past and present, including ones they thought only Alison knew. One in particular that the girls refer to as "the Jenna thing."

That's just a little juicy taste of what the show is about, I haven't read the books but I am definitely going to start! What do you think of the show, books, or the girls wardrobe?

Mary-Kate has been out of the out of the public eye for a while, reappearing every now and then to wow us with her lust worthy looks. [whether they're paparazzi snaps or regular candids she looks fantastic.]

I can't help but to often ask myself WWMKD? What Would Mary-Kate Do? or What Would Mary-Kate Wear?

MK always manages to look ultra cool and have that I-don't-give-a-damn attitude which just draws you to her because she doesn't care about what people say or write about her style.
Fashion is about expressing yourself and being fearless, and I am sure we can all agree that Mary-Kate is fearless!

I know everyone is raving about Jennifer Aniston channeling Barbara Streisand's Funny Girl [Jennifer does look stunning!] in Harpers Bazaar's September issue but I am LOVING Mary-Kate on the September cover of Marie Claire, she looks absolutely gorgeous! One of my favorite movies ever is Almost Famous.

It is my DREAM as a writer/rock music lover to have William's life...
Except I wouldn't be 'kidnapped' by rock stars, I would be 'kidnapped' by fashion designers and style icons.

I remember watching Almost Famous for the first time at 14 [2001, about a year after it came out of theaters] years old and I became obsessed with everything [in fact I think I still have the soundtrack cd!] about this movie.
[The music is another amazing thing about this movie, I LOVE rock music, especially classic rock and every person knows that rock n roll and fashion go hand in hand.]

Just like Penny Lane says above, 'visit your friends' the only exception with that is I visit my record collection, instead of a store.
I often day dream of befriending 'friends' like the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Debbie Harry, Stevie Nicks, Bob Dylan [who I STILL have a crush on, the man was sooo sexy!], Elton John, and Janis Joplin to name a few.

It's banana's, out of control [OOC], OMG, I die... I know we've ALL heard these quirky fun sayings before and if you're a hardcore RZ fan like me you know I am talking about the iconic Rachel Zoe of course.

I adore Rachel, she has such an amazing aesthetic which I am sure we all can agree on, her clientele alone proves that she is fantastic and that she is a force to be reckon with!
Here are some of my favorite Zoe girls Demi, Cameron, Kate and my all time favorite Zoe client.. Nicole Richie. My five top reasons for loving Rachel are...
1). She eats, breathes, sleeps fashion.
2). She adores the Beatles, as do I. My vinyl record collection should prove it.
3). She was starstruck to meet fashion titans Karl Lagerfeld and John Galliano. Fashion designers are her celebrities.
4). She knows how to make women look sexy, impeccable, and amazing.
5). She is beyond sweet and funny. [Sadly I haven't met her, but that's what dreaming is for.]
BONUS: [Plus if that isn't enough she has two incredible men in her life.. One is her adorably sweet husband Rodger and the other is the ultra fabulous & stylish RZ Style Director (and might I mention hilarious) Brad Goreski.]
I am so excited that The Rachel Zoe Project will be back this Tuesday, her show is my not-so guilty pleasure I can't get enough of Rachel Zoe and her RZ Inc team. I don't watch Mad Men but I do love the retro outfits, and I think it's a safe assumption that Mad Men was the catalyst of whole 50s-60s revival.

So in the words of Dirty Harry, 'you've got to ask yourself a question', are you ready to take it back in the day? If so take a look at Louis Vuitton's Fall campaign, spanning generations of models [Christy Turlington, Karen Elson, and Natalia Vodianova]. This new 'it' trend is a rework of old-school glamour for today. It's for every girl that wants to look 'every inch the lady' where the hot new hemline is below the knee, and the key is to look perfectly coiffed and put together.

If you find yourself wearing or conteplating purchasing a poodle skirt... Step away, you are thinking way too much into this!

Instead try to find inspiring photos of fashion icons of back in the day like Jackie Kennedy [Onassis], Grace Kelly, Sophia Loren, Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe circa the 1950's.

And incorporate structured silhouettes in today's modern style like Christina Hendricks, Rachel Bilson, Eva Mendez, Jennifer Lopez, and Dita Von Teese. Here are some fabulous retro yet modern dresses/skirts from David Meister, Diane Von Furstenberg, St. John, and Ralph Lauren which can all be found at Neiman Marcus.
Now if you don't have the budget for any of these amazing pieces, don't fret, I have the perfect solution if your looking for the retro look.

That Girl Was a One Time Teenage Drama Queen

Let's rewind to 2004, shall we?

Remember back in 2004 when trucker hats, Sidekicks, and uggs were actually cool to own/wear in, dare I say it.. Public.

I'm sure some of you have blocked some of those things out, I don't blame you, but let's talk about a little movie that we all may have heard about or seen in 2004.
Mean Girls.

Mean Girls was just another teen comedy right? Wrong! It dominated proving that everyone loves and hates those certain it girls.
With the success of the movie of course there was a breakout actress, and new 'it' girl that was in high demand...
Cue the adorable, ginger haired, lovable Lindsay Lohan.
Lindsay was everywhere, she couldn't go anywhere without starting a mob scene or commotion.

Fast forward to 2010.

Lindsay's personal life has been criticized and picked apart, which I don't thing is fair.. Sure she's made mistakes but the girl is human! I think we should stop judging her and show the girl who stole our hearts some love/support.

What I've always loved about Lindsay was her style, happy to say Lindsay is the FIRST 'Style Evolution' fashionista post. [Hopefully there will be many more style evolution posts to come!]

The one time 'Zoe-bot' has been on many fashion hit and miss lists, but instead of the overplayed hit and miss list I wanted to pay homage to Lindsay and so I collected pictures of the beauty from 2004-2010.

I still want Lindsay to come back to acting and back to wowing us with her style but we will have to wait and see what happens.
Until then I hope you are wowed with her 'evolution'.
