We had a blast meeting the film’s costume designer, Coleen Atwood and had a chance to take pictures of all the the couture pieces used in the movie; check them out on my instagram here. It was such a delight!

For the next three weeks—one outfit per week—I am going to interpret different looks inspired by the film, while still maintaining my personal style. After sitting with the characters and costumes for a spell, I was really inspired by Charlize Theron’s character, the queen.

Excited for you all to see the movie, which premiers on June 1st – the day I present my final inspired look!

For this first ensemble, I enlisted the help of a fellow blogger, Mimi Goodwin, who is also an amazing designer in her own right. She made this full dramatic, floor-length skirt – buy yours here!

I paired the skirt with a boxy shirt courtesy of Edun. I think any other top would have been too predictable and less dramatic.

Accessories are from my friend Eno Inwek, who owns African Charm. I have been buying and collecting vintage accessories from her for almost a decade.

On a side note, not sure why Greg always chooses picture time to have interesting & stupidly funny conversations. His talking and snapping away while I’m making the most ridiculous faces or laughing so hard, that I get lipstick all over my teeth. Other times, I’m literally falling on my ass because I’m the clumsiest person ever.
