Nars Turkish delight

If you told me a couple of years ago that I would go back to lip glosses, I probably would have laughed. Being a (young) teenager, I was all about those super glossy & glittery lip options but the fact that I always ended up with hair stuck on my lips made me switch to tinted lip balms.

Surprisingly enough, I think that half of my lip products are lip glosses now. My love for the Clarins instant light lip perfector made me fall back in love with glossy lips and this Nars lipgloss in the shade 'Turkish delight' is amongst my all time favorites.
The color, a pale pastel pink, is simply stunning. It goes on quite opaque but doesn't look tacky on the lips. I like it with a simple black eye liner and it looks gorgeous when I have a bit of a tan... The formula stays around on your lips and doesn't fell sticky at all. Whenever I have a 'no make up' make up day, I always toss it in my bag to add a bit of color to my face on the go.

I have to confess that I am quite a lip products junkie (well, this isn't really a secret, is it?). I love a good lipgloss and I am always on the hunt for a new peachy pink lipstick. Truth is that my lip drawer is huge and packed with goodness of all shades of red, coral and pink. So when I came across a tag called 'the lip products addict tag' I knew this one was for me.

If you guys don't follow me on Instagram or Twitter, you might as well have thought that I have disappeared from the surface of earth. Truth is that I had loads of posts scheduled for you before I left for Florida, but for some reason they didn't go online as planned. Sorry about that.

I came back home from Florida on Tuesday morning before flying out to the French riviera on the afternoon of the very same day. My dark circles and spotty skin don't even begin to cover the tiredness that I feel!

I am currently in St Tropez until Friday, and I am trying to enjoy the most of my time here. Jet ski, parasail and cocktails on the beach are totally on the menu! I'll be back home just in time for the weekend and I cannot wait to share more posts with you...

In the meantime, here are some photos from the last few days, but don't forget to tune back in next week for new content!

the best of face masks

When it comes to skincare, face masks are where it's at. I love the idea that I can target a specific issue of my skin with a mask that will work within minutes. In case you're looking for some new options, you've come to the right place.

First off, we have the Sampar 'so much to dew midnight mask'. This overnight mask is the perfect companion for a long haul flight or to take with you on a city trip as it is highly moisturising and comes with a built-in brush! It comes out clear on the skin, which means that you can apply it without scaring anyone in your household. Just saying. If your skin is desperately dry, the Origins 'drink up intensive overnight mask' is the answer to your prayers. Apply a generous amount of this stuff on your face, go to bed and I promise that you'll wakeup with plumped nourished skin. Plus, it's smells like a tropical cocktail!

If my skin is acting a bit funky -read if it's covered in spots- I reach for the Aesop 'Parsley seed mask'. This applies and dries a bit like a clay mask but it really helps to reduce spots and redness. I love to apply it with an old foundation brush and rinse it away in buffing motions with a muslin cloth. My skin feels super clean and fresh afterwards that I tend to use it on a weekly basis.

If my pores are getting larger or if I have a special event coming up, I tend to use the Bio beauté by Nuxe 'smoothing and 24h moisturising mask'. While I am not to keen on the smell of it (it smells like clementine) I love the tithing effect that it gives to my skin. My makeup tend to go on smoother afterwards and my pores are looking a bit smaller.

Last, but certainly not least, the Nuxe 'refreshing and relaxing cream mask' is my go to after a long flight, a long day at work or simply if my skin feels a bit sore and inflamed. I tend to leave it on for as long as I can as my skin literally drinks it. Trust me, you'll thank me on that one.

You want to have enough clothes to last you the whole trip, you want casual looks to walk around but you also want to have some formal options in case you're going out at night... Problem solved! Since I am heading to Florida tomorrow, I thought it would be fun to share with you my beach bag must haves.

First things first, choosing the right beach bag is essential for me. This one from Guess fits the bill perfectly as it is made of clear plastic (so easy to wipe clean!) but still has some nice features, like the studs on the handles and the detachable pouch that is perfect to store your phone and wallet in.
I always start with a good dose of SPF. For body, I love the Garnier 'Ambre solaire dry protect SPF50' as it comes in a spray and does leave a white cast on the skin. For my face, a pea size amount of Nuxe sun 'fondant cream SPF50' is usually enough to cover my whole face. While I love the smell of it, it's really its fondant texture that sold me. A few spritz of the l'Oréal professional 'solar sublime advanced protection conditioning spray' in my hair, and I am ready for some chill time on my towel!
A new addition to my beach bag is the Bioderma 'crealine eau dermatologique', a cooling and soothing spray specially designed for sensitive skin. Whenever I am feeling a bit too hot, I use a bit of it on my face and it makes the world of a difference. For my lips, I usually go for a tinted lip balm, such as the Fresh 'sugar passion lip treatment' that has a light SPF in it. Not only does it keeps my lips nourished, it also delivers a nice wash of color to my pout.
Once all of that is packed, I add in a pair of fun sunglasses, like this pair from Guess. These are super light and have fun reflective glasses on them! I also throw in my favorite bikini of the moment in the bag, which is this fun bandeau one from H&M as well as a straw hat and a couple of magazines and I am good to go!

Carven skirt

I believe that a great wardrobe consists in a mix of great basics, a few investment pieces and a bit of fun colorful clothes. For the last few months, this is the mantra that I've been trying to implement when it comes to fashion. I did a major purge of my closet (don't forget to check out my shop) but I made sure to keep beautiful pieces that I absolutely love even if I don't wear them all the time. For example, the beautiful skirt that I am wearing is from Carven. I got it a while ago at La Vallée Village in Paris and although I've only worn it once, I am convinced that it will stay in my closet for years to come. The material feels really luxury while the cut is pretty much timeless. For this outfit, I paired it with a blue top from Zara (that you've already seen here) and a gorgeous Delvaux 'brillant' belt in the perfect soft grey shade.

holiday beauty packing

Call me weird, but I actually love to pack. A couple of years ago, packing was my worst nightmare. I would always end up with the heaviest suitcase and never touch half of what I packed. It was driving me mad to carry around so much stuff with me that I decided to get organized and make the whole travel experience that much more enjoyable. And, trust me or not, I might havecaught the packing flu (is there such a thing?)

I find that with a bit of organization and prep, I can travel stress free and still have everything I need with me. Last summer, I shared with you my guide to packing for a summer holiday, and today I am telling you all about packing your beauty stash... in video!

Fear not, the video is long but I go over everything, from makeup bags to palettes and my tips for packing your favorite beauty products... Plus, I made a handy PDF checklist with all my must-haves as well as a couple of tips! So, pour yourself a glass of lemonade and get cosy!

Chanel illusion d'ombre

Ever since the Chanel 'illusion d'ombre in emerveillé' made its way into my collection some time around last year, it has been one of my favorite. I always find myself staring at its beautiful color safely protected in a packaging that makes it look like a very chic macaron.

Emerveillé is a beautiful pink with gold accents eyeshadow. Based on the principle of pressed pigments, this highly shimmery eye shadow delivers a soft wash of color when onto the lids, which makes it the perfect pick for everyday makeup looks. While the color is something that you can pretty easily find at MAC or Bobbi Brown, it is the texture (and the finish) that sold me on this one. I like to use it with a Sigma 'blending brush E25' for a sheer finish but with a few spritz of MAC fix+ onto a Sigma 'eye shading E55 brush', it turns it into something a bit more intense that is perfect to complete your glowy summer look.

I am not too keen on the other shades available in the range, although I did pick up the shade 'fatal' from the Holidays collection last winter. While I don't use it as often as 'emerveillé', this dark plum shade is perfect as a subtle eyeliner.

get bikini ready

I declare bikini season officially open! And things are getting quite urgent here since in exactly seven days I'll be by the pool of our Miami hotel. While it's a bit too late to get on a crazy diet, I've compiled my favorite products to get bikini ready in only a few minutes!

It all starts with beautiful and smooth skin. The first part of my routine is exfoliating. Indeed, you'll get a closer shave and a more even tan. My product of choice recently has been the Bio beauté by Nuxe 'toning exfoliant'. Packed with great natural ingredients, this gets the job done without leaving my legs feeling dry or sore. Afterwards, it's time to get rid of nasty hairs. I've tried my fair share of hair removal methods, and at the end of the day, I am a razor kind of gal. I find it quick, easy and I always have smooth legs. The best razor for bikini season is, without a doubt, the Wilkinson 'quattro for women bikini' one. Not only does it comes with a super effective razor, it also had a built-in trimmer that works with a simple battery!

Once I get off of the shower, I like to use a bit of the Sally Hansen 'zero bumps bikini spray'. I spray a bit of product on any area that is prone to bumps and it leaves my skin nice and smooth. Then, I reach for my favorite combo at the moment, which is from l'Occitane. I start with a few sprays of the 'supple skin oil' and once that has penetrated my skin, I go back with the 'milk concentrate' from the same range. It makes my skin look incredibly healthy and the scent is heavenly.

If I look like the lost sister of Casper the ghost, I like to use a bit of the St Tropez 'self tan lotion for sensitive skin'. While this asked for a bit more work than their tanning mousse, I find that it doesn't irritate my skin and keeps it moisturized in the same time. Last, but not least, if I want to enhance my tan while keeping my skin healthy, I always use a bit of the Nuxe 'huile prodigieuse'. As you all know, I swear by this oil for so many things and it comes quite handy during summer time to give you beautiful legs!

the best glitter nail polish (and it's from the drugstore!)

When I think about it, I haven't changed that much since my childhood years. I still blast Britney songs when I am home alone, I chase Pokemons around on my Nintendo and I love a good glitter nail polish.

But as the years went by, I became more picky about my glitter picks. There's nothing I hate more than a sheer color with just one or two glitter. Or worse, the kind of nail polish that stays on your nails forever, no matter what nail polish remover you use or the stack of used cotton pads thrown on the floor.

But don't worry, I have found the Graal. Let me introduce you to the Bourjois '1 seconde gel nail polishes'.
The first shade that got me hooked is #39 'star rain', a seriously glittery silver. Liked the color, loved the formula. The formulation of these is just on point, the thick brush cover your entire nail while the pigmentation is good enough that you only need one coat. Yup, you heard me, one coat. And trust me, the glitters are there. My two other favorites are #43 'champagne showers' a silvery pink and #31 'dangerous wish' a dark grey with green glitters -beautiful.

During summer, I tend to dress more casual than during any other time of the year. There's nothing I love more than drinking a cold beer in the park with just a pair of shorts, a basic tee and a pair of comfy sandals. But sometimes, I like to go back to my old self and dress up a bit more. It doesn't have to be for a special occasion or anything but I just love feeling really put together once in a while.

I got this top at Antropologie last summer and it turned out to be a great purchase. I love to pair ii with a fun skirt, like this black scuba one from H&M. I added my favorite pair of heels from J Crew, my new statement necklace from Banana Republic and I was good to go!

I cannot believe that I haven't uploaded an outfit post in so long! I don't really know what happened, I guess it was a bit of laziness (bouh!) and the fact that I haven't had anyone around to take photos in a while... But here I am, back with a new outfit made with good basics that I've had for years!

This rather simple outfit is a combo that works very well for me on days where I don't feel too inspired but still want to look a bit put together. I've always loved mixing stripes with a bold color and I think that this pair of red skinny jeans from Zara is the perfect pop of color while being super comfortable as well! I love it mixed with this semi baggy striped sweater, that I also got at Zara quite a while ago. Paired with beautiful black accessories -my trusty Proenza Schouler bag and a pair of black sandals- it was the perfect outfit to cheer our national football team the Red Devils yesterday night (yup, I caught the world cup fever and trust me, I didn't see it coming at all!).

Benefit 'that gal'

I cannot believe that summer is almost here. I am leaving for Miami in less than 20 days and I am starting to think about what makeup I want to bring with me. From what I've been reading, Miami is really hot, and not just because of its trendy night clubs. So packing a good primer is a mandatory step...

Enter Benefit 'that gal' brightening face primer.

I am pretty picky when it comes to primers, as I don't want them to be packed with shimmer or leaving my skin too matte. That gal is the perfect in between. It primes my skin and makes my foundation flawless while brightening my whole complexion. Its pink based formula is great for evening out your skin tone and I love that it comes in a twist up tube. I find that a tiny bit goes a long way with this one, so I tend to grab a flat foundation brush (like the Sigma foundation brush F60) to apply it. I mainly concentrate it in the center of my face as it is where my foundation seems to go off through the day.

So it goes without saying that this primer is coming with me to Florida! It's gonna be my best friend for hot summer days in the city and endless nights by the beach!

Louise Young foundation brush

My makeup brushes collection is probably a good indicator of how crazy I can be about something. Every time friends come over, they end up making fun of me for having more makeup brushes than a makeup artist. Although that is not completely true, I have to say that I do like a good makeup brush, and especially a good foundation brush.

The latest addition to my stash is the Louise Young 'LY34 super foundation brush'. After seeing it in action in a couple of Anna's videos, I knew I wanted to give it a try and when it finally came in the mail, I might have done a little victory dance.

Now this brush is huge. The bristles are extra long and it's probably twice as tall as your average foundation brush but boy, this is lovely. The bristles are really soft and flexible, and the fact that the brush is tapered means that you are able to apply your foundation all over your face and even in hard to reach places like around your nose or at the base of your hair. This brush is perfect to achieve a flawless and very natural finish with almost any base product that you have. I find that it works best with tinted moisturizers and light foundations but I am happy to report that I also use it with my Laura Mercier 'silk creme foundation' although I go over it with the Real Techniques 'miracle complexion sponge' afterwards to make it perfect.

This brush is also easy to clean whether it is with a spot cleanser or during a more intense weekly deep clean. It dries quicklier than a flat kabuki brush which makes it overall a great brush to add to your collection.

the pastel skincare line up

One of the worst beauty decision that you can make is choosing your skincare based on its packaging, color or scent. Yet, I recently noticed that my current skincare favorites are all packaged in pretty pastel colors... Maybe it's the spring weather or simply a new trend in the beauty world, but I thought I would share with you which pastel bits I've been loving lately.

First off, I have not one but two new favorite moisturizers. I've been loving the l'Occitane 'crème radieuse'* at night as it has a really nourishing formula while being fairly light on the skin. It leaves my skin smooth and plumped by the next morning. My new day moisturizer of choice is also from l'Occitane, and it's their 'gel radieux'*. It is from the same range as the crème radieuse, but the texture of this one is just on point. This pale green gel is really light and sinks into my skin within seconds. It feels fresh on the face but does a good job at keeping it moisturized.

For yes, I've been falling back in love with the Kiehl's 'rosa arctica eye balm'*. I love it because it is a rather thick balm that intensely nourishes the eye area without being overly greasy. I use it day & night and it has been a real saviour.

Once or twice a week, depending on my skin behavior, I've been using the 'essentials equalizing foam peel'* from Sampar. I apply it all over my face and neck with an old foundation brush, leave it on for 2 minutes and then gently rinse it away. It leaves my skin really clean and fresh without being too drying. I find that it helps with blemishes as well but if it's a really nasty one, I always reach for my Clinique 'anti-blemish clearing gel'*. I apply a bit of product directly onto the pimple and a couple of hours later, it is nowhere to be seen.

On the other hand, if my skin has been a bit dry, I slap on a good amount of the Sampar 'so much to dew midnight mask'* and go to sleep with it on my skin. Don't worry though, this stuff is clear on the skin, so there's no terrified boyfriend running around! I love the fact that it comes with a built in brush on the end, which makes it really easy to apply (I really like to take this with me on the plane, more on that later).

Bioderma crealine vs Garnier micellar water

When it comes to makeup remover, nothing beats my beloved Bioderma micellar water. Although I recently switched to the Hydrabio version, I still love the Sensibio version just as much. It's simply the best at getting rid of everything on your skin: waterproof mascara, long wear foundation and even highly pigmented lipsticks. So when Garnier came up with what seems like a dupe of my favorite pink bottle, I knew I had to give it a try.

First of all, the price tag is quite different. With a price of 4,80€, it is definitely cheaper than the Bioderma version that retails for around 15€. The second advantage of the Garnier one is that it is really easy to get your hands on it. You can find it in your drugstore but also in your supermarket which makes it really convenient.

Although they have really similar textures, I find that the Garnier one isn't as good as taking off eye makeup as the Bioderma one. I don't wear waterproof mascara on a everyday basis, so I can't really report back on that, but it took a bit of time and a handful of cotton pads to get rid of all my eye makeup... Apart from that, it leaves my skin as fresh and as clean as the Bioderma crealine does. I also love the fact that the Garnier micellar water is formulated without perfume or parabens, which makes it a perfect product for those of you who have sensitive skin.

Overall, I would say that the Garnier one is rather good dupe and one to go for if you're not a smokey eye kind of gal.

My last piece of advice here, would be to always cleanse after using a micellar water, and that goes for both of these. Trust me, it makes the world of difference!

Since the weather forecast looks incredible for this (long!) weekend, I thought that I would share my top sunscreen sprays with you. Ready?

Now sunscreens in the form of a body mist isn't something that I was very familiar with until last summer. While browsing CVS alleys in Chicago, I spotted the Neutrogena 'ultra sheer body mist SPF30' and threw it in my basket. And it ended up being one of the best purchases that I made during the trip! We were out in the sun pretty much all day long and I didn't want to bother with a traditional sunscreen, so this little guy found its way to my handbag and I found myself applying it through the day. The product has a very fine mist that goes on smoothly on the skin and while I usually rub it in quickly, you can totally skip this step. It didn't leave a white cast or a funky smell on my skin at all and didn't stain any of my clothes. Best of all? I didn't sunburn at all.

I loved it so much, that I decided to head back to CVS to get a new one with a lower SPF protection. I didn't find the one I wanted from Neutrogena, so I picked up the Hawaiian tropic 'silk hydration SPF15' and I immediately fell in love with it. It has the same consistency as the Neutrogena one but the smell of this is just incredible! Think sun, beach and cocktails and you'll get an idea... I find myself reaching for this one whenever I am out for a run around my neighborhood or out for drinks on a terrasse.

The latest addition to the stash is the Garnier 'Ambre solaire dry protect SPF50'*. While I haven't fully tested this one yet, I used it a couple of times while sunbathing in our garden, and it is as good as the others. The finish of it is a bit whiter than the rest, but there's nothing terrible going on here. With a SPF of 50, I'll make sure to pop this one into my suitcase for Florida!

Last Saturday, something unusual happened. My alarm went off at 5.30AM and I got off my bed without slapping anyone and, even weirder, I had a big smile on my face... The reason behind that is simple: I was off to London for the day to celebrate the fifth anniversary of Regent Tweet, a social media shopping experience organized for bloggers each year in Regent Street.

After a well needed shower, I quickly got dressed in my favorite H&M blazer, slapped some makeup on my face (the Laura Mercier silk creme foundation was a saviour and lasted all day long, and trust me, it was a long one) and rushed out to door with a soy latte in my hand.

Eurostar was kind enough to treat us to Business premier tickets, which means that I got to stock up on magazines in their VIP lounge in Brussels and enjoyed a power breakfast on the train... I've known worse! A good chat with fellow bloggers later, I was in my favorite city in Europe, ready for a fun (and sunny!) day of shopping. A quick tube journey later and I was in Regent Street, one of the best shopping streets in the world. With shops like Anthropologie, J Crew and Liberty, my heart was already skipping beats while my two feet were going too fast for me.

Needless to say that the day went on perfectly, with special treats waiting for us at every corner and great surprises along the way. I walked up and down Regent Street like a maniac all day long, with bigger shopping bags each time... But don't worry, a haul video is on its way to you!

At 7PM it was already time to say bye-bye to London and to board our Eurostar back home. I came back home and literally passed out in my bed, but not without a huge smile on my face...
