Talked about this reno for 2 years.

Friday we DID IT!!!!!

New floors new floors new floors.

It is an engineered hardwood. We would have gone with a hardwood but we did not want to go through ripping up the tile in the main level. So we chose something that could be placed over top of it and be continuous everywhere else! (not to mention the cost of removing tile is horrendous. no one wants to do it)

We are stoked!

Tomorrow I start installing a Back to School window display.
It's nuts how the months fly by.

We needed storage space upstairs where the bedrooms are, and we needed skinny storage space (townhouse problems) I tried to find something I loved just the way it was, but nothing worked out. So we bought the Ikea Tarva

You ugly.

But easy to work with.

A trip to Home Depot is all it took.

EASTER WINDOW!

I want to take a nap in this magical woods filled with tiny creatures and fancy kitchenware.

It took me forever to find mulch for sale... I guess it's the wrong time of year for it. I went hunting for the smaller branches myself in nearby parks.... which lead to me touching dog poop. Because my job is that glamorous.

the wool birds are from here (and are currently for sale at Moss on the Danforth)

Now I need a Cadbury creme egg.

It's 2013!!!! I did not make a new years resolution to blog more. because I knew I would just fail.

But I'm around.

In 2013 we finally bought our asses some nightstands. We've lived in our house for 2 yrs without them because I could not make a decision. They're ikea... I thew some lion head pulls on them to hide some of the Ikea.

I started doing moodboards the oldschool way.

No pinterest.

It is extremely satisfying

I did an Umbra feature window at iQliving. It was out of this world fun.
The drawings were done with paint and my eyeballs.

Bought a citrus yellow jacket at the GAP

Well... I am clearly not a very good blogger. In fact, I'm not even really a blogger at all.

I did a Christmas window display and it was a big deal and lots of work

and I am the shittiest present wrapper in the world but this year I started it early.

It took me like 2 hours to wrap these 2 presents for reals

I never know which way to fold things and it annoys me that they are small boxes and they are winning over me and I get angry.
I am way better at picking out the materials.

I'm almost finished painting our bedroom.

The color changes a lot depending on the time of day but it mostly looks like this

I love it a lot and just want to read books (surf the internet) in here now. and watch Downton Abbey.

Just waiting on the pillows and finishing touches.

I was leaving a thrift store empty handed the other day but spotted this by the door

for 4.99

it had a bad coat of white paint on it. I painted it gold.

It's large and it's heavy.

It's in my upstairs hallway.. but I want to do something to the wall (paint/wallpaper)

and put a skinny table underneath.

We'll see.

This weekend was the weekend of getting shit done.

Exhibit A:

Project Living Room Makeover. In my own house. This is big news because when it comes to my own decorating I am a big procrastinator. It all started as a little moodboard in photoshop a couple of months ago, inspired by a cottage in the Hamptons. and Anna Spiro.

I slowly purchased pillows on etsy, bought a new rug, and then this weekend I tied it all together with a new sofa. I may do things backwards.

the ikat lumbar pillow is the love of my life and was made by these lovely ladies.

Striped lumbar is Ralph Lauren from Winners.

Throw is from Winners (god bless Winners).

The jute rug and the sofa are from Ikea.

It's sophisticated but still fun, and kind of quirky. It's totally me.

It may not translate 100% in the photos but it feels like a beach house in here now.

I am re-laxed.

In other news we now have a hand-knotted Turkish rug for sale as well as a spooky black tufted loveseat.

Change... it's good.

and I have Hermes gift boxes in the mail. For "shelf storage", and no, I will not admit to how much I paid for empty boxes.

We booked flights to NYC and a little mini vacation in Williamsburg in October. It'll be my 2nd time in NYC and an itch I've had ever since being there a year ago. It will also be our 4 year anniversary.

Well... I ended up being computerless for a bit but now I'm back with a shiny new big girl computer.

Best computer I have ever had!

But now I feel like I don't know how to do anything. So, love and hate happening at the exact same time.

But in the mean time I did get sort of productive on a smaller scale

Can't afford a DVF rug ever? Make your own version to look at.

The other painting I was trying to do just wasn't working. I made this instead (On the left. Obviously). It is a billion times better than what I was trying to do. Plus the green is really great for the office.

That leopard has many, many spots. and I painted them all.

I made some mouse pads! I used fabric remnants from previous projects and cork hot pads from the dollar store.

My DIY version of Kelly Wearstlers brass kaleidoscope.

Made from a styrofoam ball, wooden skewers and gold spray paint. and a bit of black spray paint... I think I was trying to make it a little ombre.

I made it so it can sit flat, on a stack of books maybe. Or maybe I'll make more in varying sizes and hang them on the wall.
Or place them on chairs around the house and hope people will blindly sit on them.
Who knows... anything goes.
