When attempting to explain the appeal of Lindsey Wixson, Wayne (via The Imagist) says it best: "Beauty is a convention and convention is really boring to stare at all the time." I like Lindsey because, if anything, she's interesting. You won't mistake Lindsey for any other model, and in a world flooded with media imagery, she has the rare ability to arrest your attention.

Because of her gapped front teeth, dimples, and almost-too-prominent pout, life was not always as easy for Lindsey Wixson as her supermodel status might suggest. At home in Kansas, she was bullied throughout middle school for her unique looks, which lean more towards Victorian baby-doll than blonde Barbie. But in a move that The Improper called the "revenge of the nerds," the same features that made Lindsey the subject of bullying in school have made her the new darling of the fashion world. In an industry constantly on the search for a fresh face, Lindsey Wixson proves both unique and relatable: for while her features may be inimitable, her girl-next-door persona makes her a sweet alternative to some of her more intimidating supermodel predecessors. Perhaps it was this kind of small-town charm that first enthralled fashion photographer Steven Meisel when he found a video of Lindsey on Models.com. After being noticed by the esteemed photographer in 2009, Lindsey Wixson found herself propelled into fashion fame. Lindsey has since graced the covers of i-D and V Magazine, has worked as the face of Miu Miu, Versace, and Jill Stuart, and has walked in almost every major show from Anna Sui to Zac Posen.

Model-of-duty style has become something of a cliché and typically includes leather, motorcycle boots, and some ripped denim. In her approach to off-the-runway dressing, Lindsey Wixson once again stands apart from the crowd. With playful and even adorable style that echoes her doll-like features, Lindsey's street-style aesthetic feels as sweet and approachable as the girl herself.

What can I say, it's been too long, righttt? So here comes a post, finallyyyy, about a girl that I've been wanting to write about forever. And I really mean that... because I actually remember the first time that I saw a picture of Hailey Clauson, over two years ago. I didn't know who she was, or that she had a name, or that she worked in the industry... all I knew was that this girl gave off the kind of vibe that makes me infinitely envious. This girl, dressed in her super-skinny jeans lounging on the side of the street, looked gorgeous, urban, and effortless all at once. Given the recent comeback of sneakers and flats, I think that the below picture, more than ever, sums up what we all want: easy, modern clothes that take about two seconds to put together, and the kind of effortless makeup/hair/shoes that don't act as a hindrance to our mobility. Despite the Daphne Guinness's and Anna Della Russos's of the world, I think that the picture below sums up everything that modern style really represents. This easy, undone aesthetic is why we love the Olsens... why we seem to uphold easy-chic blogger Rumi Neely as the best in the field... and why we're willing to wear our favorite ripped denim shorts to the point of destruction.

I'm actually terrible at recognizing/remembering faces during everyday interactions, but I take a certain pride in noticing my favorite style stars rise to fashion fame. So you can imagine my excitement when I kept seeing the once-unknown face of Hailey Clauson in runway shows, ads, and editorials. She no longer has the look of a teenage girl lounging in between English and Algebra class, and she's gone from NY to Paris and back again, but I think that this California native has nonetheless maintained her hold on a kind of enviable, effortless glamour... the kind that is taking her right to the top. At a mere 16 years of age, she's already the face of Gucci and Dsquared2, and-- not to get all Susan-Miller on you, but-- I foresee great things in her future.

With finals coming up, I've been busy with everything but blogging, so I wanted to do a quick post on style icon Taylor Tomasi Hill. She's one of my best friend's favorite style icons, and it's about time this blog showed her some love.

This style and accessories editor for Marie Claire Magazine is best known for her mix-and-match looks that combine both feminine and boyish pieces. Taylor Tomasi can wear pretty much anything she wants, and she's frequently covered from head-to-toe in designer goods--but she always looks fun and fashionable, never staid or snobby.

To post every intriguing outfit worn by Taylor Tomasi would take more room than a single blog post allows, so here are a few of the pictures that have accumulated in my "Taylor Tomasi" folder over time. I've tried to only post fairly recent pictures, and I've organized them by street style blog to simplify things. When it comes to models on the runway, I try to ignore famous faces and focus on the clothes. It helps me to objectively decide if I like a collection, and besides, how many times do I need to see Karlie Kloss or Chanel Iman in yet another amazing outfit? I already know they're going to look great.

This past season only a couple of new faces stood out to me, and I was excited to see 16-year-old model Daphne Groeneveld walking in nearly every show. Her look, a mix of weird and gorgeous, combined with her bleach-blonde hair (which reminds me of another favorite, Abbey Lee) made it impossible for me to ignore her, no matter how fantastic the accompanying apparel.

Daphne Groeneveld only started modeling about a year ago, but she's already landed countless major shows and even appeared on the cover of French Vogue with the legendary Tom Ford. As for personal style, Daphne Groeneveld claims that she does not have a distinct or specific look, but rather knows what she likes and wears it. But then again, she's only 16... and while girls her age strive to achieve the coveted "model-off-duty" look, Daphne's doing the real thing.

**writing the dream: an interview with nandini d'souza

A while back, I did an interview with Nandini D'Souza, a freelance writer whose work has appeared in Harper's Bazaar, New York Magazine, and InStyle, among others. I first noticed Nandini when she wrote an article on "The Secrets of Effortless Dressing" for Harper's Bazaar several years ago. She later went on to serve as the editor for the special issue Harper's Bazaar "Runway Report." In addition to working as a freelance writer, she is the author of Harper's Bazaar Fabulous at Every Age: Your Quick & Easy Guide to Fashion. For those of us who are approaching graduation and thinking about careers in fashion (*ahem* me), I think that Nandini offers an interesting perspective on working in the industry, as well as some great advice. She's clearly a fashion writer worth looking up to.

Where are you from? Where did you go to school?
I grew up in Connecticut and received a bachelors from UConn in English and photography. I spent about a week in Columbia's masters journalism school, but I was already an associate editor by then so dropped out. What I do is a trade—once you learn how to do it...etc. I got great training on the job.

Why did you decide to go into fashion journalism?
It was by default. I was torn between going into journalism straight-up or photojournalism. But first, I needed a job when I graduated from college and when I was offered a paid internship at Fairchild Publications (now owned by Conde Nast), I jumped. I was the junior executive assistant to the editorial director of the company who was also the editor in chief of W magazine and Women's Wear Daily. I was an abysmal executive assistant but was good with editorial tasks (budgets, tracking down delinquent editors, fact-checking, etc.). I then did a stint at the then newly-launched Jane magazine as an editorial assistant but was offered an associate editorship at W/WWD. This isn't the normal course for writers/editors. But I did really well on an editor's test (which included picking a potential cover—my photo degree came in handy) and my boss was looking to groom someone who could write but didn't necessarily know anything about fashion. Basically, I was in the right place at the right time.

How long have you been working in fashion journalism?
In total, 12 years; ten of those at W/WWD. When I returned to W/WWD as an associate, I then learned the ropes for magazines, newspapers and all-round editing of features and display copy. It was trial by fire but it was the best education I could have received. That said, I worked a lot. Double deadlines are tough. From there, I worked my way up the food chain until I was the senior fashion features editor for W/WWD.

I honestly didn't like fashion magazines growing up. I never read Vogue or W or anything. I barely even read 17 in my teens. I read Time, NYTimes, Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair, etc. But when I got to see W/WWD from the inside, I started to appreciate fashion. But more, I learned from my boss how fantastic fashion and features writing can be. Some of the most beautiful writing happens during the fashion shows when people like Cathy Horyn or Bridget Foley get going on a subject.

What is your favorite thing about being a fashion journalist?
The personalities. As cliche as that sounds, you've got brilliant business brains, crazy artists, legends, rock stars, intellects. It's this bizarre melange of characters. I love getting to travel for work (and yes, stay in fancy hotels) and meet cool people.

There was also something amazing in seeing one of those breakthrough collections unfold. It doesn't happen often, and I only ever witnessed two, but when all the elements align, it's pretty great. I have a distinct memory of sitting at Marc Jacobs' grunge redux show a few years ago at the Armory watching the models parade out as Philip Glass' Heroes symphony playing. The other Rodarte's spring 2007 collection. It felt like watching a couture show.

What have been your biggest challenges?
I'm not much of a "fashion" person. Don't get me wrong—I can blow through a month's salary in one afternoon at Marni, but I'm not into the off-hours culture of fashion. I'm not a fan of the parties that I used to have to cover. I hated going to the fancy dinners. I love watching fashion shows, but I hate going to them—too crowded, too hot, too many unwarranted egos. Unfortunately, it's all part of the package. I loved reviewing the shows but I hated having to give someone a bad review. (Even worse was getting a phone call from an irate or sad designer because of a bad review.)

What qualities do you think have made you successful as a fashion journalist?
Thanks for thinking I'm "successful." I still have a long way to go, but so far, I think I've gotten where I am through a combination of being type-A and intellectually insecure (I always want to write a better, wittier, more insightful story). I think, too, not being a die-hard fashion lover has served me well. I can sometimes step back and see the big picture, which is oftentimes more interesting. I can see fashion in terms of how it fits into life in general. I'm not tall or skinny, so how does it serve me?

What project would you consider to be your biggest success?
Hmm, that's tough. I'm proud to have worked on some great launches—Vitals, New York Magazine's Look, Harper's Bazaar's Runway Report, WWD's the Magazine. But from a writing standpoint, I think features I wrote on Rodarte and Celine Dion (yes, you read that right) for W.

Do you have any advice for students hoping to pursue a career in fashion journalism?
No assignment is too little or beneath you. No matter how silly you may think it is, attack it like you're on the White House beat. Don't be entitled. Soak up every fashion, entertainment and art magazine and book you can get your hands on. Know your writers and understand their different styles. Be eager. Cultivate your own opinion based on what you see and not what you're regurgitating from someone else. Learn good grammar. Know when to say "I" and when to say "me."

**style profile: nina stotler

I really enjoy Nina Stotler's intellectual approach to fashion. When I first read about Nina Stotler, I was immediately intrigued by her clean and edgy style. She seems to be the kind of girl who never has a hair out of place... she's also the kind of girl who radiates both intelligence and creativity: in addition to designing her own line of jewelry, she has worked as a trend-forecaster for Peclers Paris, and she's currently the youth-market editor at Stylesight. The fact that jobs like trend-forecasting even exist fascinates me. The entire profession reinforces the way that fashion reflects not just what the designers are thinking, but movements within society overall. You may remember that I cited Nina Stotler a few posts ago, for her explanation about the way that fashion reveals the collective consciousness of the society as a whole: "People are starting to pick up on those edgier designers because it's fitting a greater collective consciousness than it was before." On the topic of working as a trend-forecaster, she says: "An interest in editorial work grew from my love for writing, and as an extension of that, I've always had a insatiable curiosity for information, whatever the subject. I enjoy keeping up on the latest developments in culture, art, music, film and fashion. Trend reporting is a way to connect the dots by looking for patterns and shifts in fashion; similar to crafting an academic thesis, but one pertinent to business." As former engineering major (and current English major), I can't help but love Nina Stotler's logical and almost scientific approach to modern trends.

Because Nina has a job that involves more than posing for passing street style photographers, it was hard to scramble together pictures of this writer and designer, but I've done my best. Nina describes her own style as "plain and simple... lots of neutral colors," but I think this hardware-inspired jewelry designer has a definite tough side as well. Enjoy the pictures, and look to Nina Stotler whenever you need reassurance that the fashionable can be both edgy and composed.

I took a little break from blogging to try and redesign my layout for the first time... I was still using the original Google templates! During the whole process, I couldn't help but think about how thankful I am to have this blog, and how many opportunities it's opened up for me, from the simple things like a tweet from Coco Rocha, to the incredible experience of Paris fashion week. My last post was on fashion's "new look," and a new look needs a new icon. It helps to know the original girls that pulled off your aesthetic, and when it comes to looking polished, Grace Kelly offers an elegant example.

The 1950's actress was born on November 12, 1929 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Grace Kelly's father was an Olympic gold medalist and a self-made millionaire, and her mother was the first woman to head the Physical Education department at the University of Pennsylvania: it seems as if Grace Kelly was destined for greatness.

By the time she graduated from high school, Grace Kelly was involved in acting and dancing, and the "prophecy" section of her yearbook even speculated: “Miss Grace P. Kelly - a famous star of stage and screen.” Grace Kelly began her acting career as a television star and moved to film when she was offered a role opposite of Gary Cooper in High Noon. Kelly later won a Golden Globe Award and her first Academy Award nomination for her supporting role in Mongambo, a film starring Clark Gable and Ava Gardner. She went on to star in the Alfred Hitchcock film noir, The Rear Window, which won four Academy Award nominations. In her next film, The Country Girl, Kelly won an Academy Award for her unglamorous role as an alcoholic's wife.

Grace Kelly's life sounds like something of a fairytale. She continued to act in films and on television, and in April 1955, she met Rainier III, the Prince of Monaco. In December of the same year, the Prince toured the United States and proposed to Grace Kelly. On April 19, 1956, Grace Kelly became Princess Grace of Monaco.

Of course, I'm not much for idolizing movie stars or princesses, but the woman Grace Kelly herself deserves admiration. Grace Kelly challenged the conception of the "dumb blonde," and in film, she radiates intelligence and composure. In life, Kelly liked to give people the benefit of the doubt. She was known for a calm demeanor and gracious manner, paired with her incredible natural beauty.

As for her style? Timeless and composed, like herself. Always dressed impeccably in well-fitting attire, Grace Kelly often chose long hemlines and a cinched waist. Her staples included white cloves, pearls and her Hermes bag, now appropriately nicknamed "the Kelly bag."

While we cannot know how much of Grace Kelly's style was her own doing, and how much was a product of her role as an actress, celebrity and public figure, the result is undeniably inspiring. Grace Kelly had a sense of style so resolute and unchanging that it's often hard to tell whether photographs of her were taken when she was 19 or 39. It takes a lot of self-awareness to commit to one aesthetic throughout a lifetime, and it seems as if Grace Kelly had just that.

One of the most fascinating things about fashion is its ability to enchant us one year and then repulse us the next. The experience of cringing at the fashion sense of one's former self is all too familiar for most of us. As Oscar Wilde so wisely observed, "Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we must alter it every six months." So if you laugh when looking at pictures of your parents in their 20's, with teased hair and shoulder pads, just imagine how ridiculous ripped tights and shredded tees will seem to the next generation.

When watching a video on StyleLikeU (one of my absolute favorite websites, by the way), I heard an interesting perspective on the fashion phenomenon that has occurred over the past few years, as labels like Alexander Wang and Balmain have risen to the forefront of fashion consciousness. Jewelry designer/writer/editor Nina Stotler suggested that perhaps the birth of the modern pseudo-rebel is more than a random feat of fashion or marketing. As she phrased it, "People are starting to pick up on those edgier designers because it's fitting a greater collective consciousness than it was before." In other words, the mass appeal of the rebel aesthetic reflects the society in which it is worn: something about modern life gives us all the desire to rebel.

We've been clinging steadfastly to our studded bags for the past few years, but recently, the modern fashionista seems to be testing new fashion grounds. Neat trousers and long skirts hold a revived appeal, and suddenly a 50's silhouette no longer looks costumey, but rather timely and even cutting-edge. Spring/Summer 2011 collections with longer hem lengths, like Jil Sander's parade of bold, ankle-grazing skirts, feel fresh and ultra-desirable. Websites like Chictopia and Lookbook.nu (supposedly representative of the average Joe or Jane in fashion) are peppered with cinched skirts and high-waisted trousers. Even Rumi Neely has been wearing A-line Lanvin... ok, maybe that was just once.

Of course, there is really no right or wrong in the fashion world. Leather jackets certainly aren't going anywhere, but neither is the polished "new look." But if leather and studs now constitute wardrobe staples, what's left for the so-called rebellious? Full skirts and modest pumps? Luckily, we live in a world where pretty much anything goes.

So what do you think? Are you ready to give up your tough aesthetic? Does this "new look" represent some kind of growing modern consciousness, or have we simply grown bored with skinny jeans and ripped tights?

I have a mild obsession with Zara and like any true Zara fan, I check the website religiously for the latest catalogue/lookbook. I like the way that they photograph the clothes without over-styling them, and the models are always gorgeous (if you don't believe me, take a look at these). I couldn't stop obsessing over the model in their latest online catalogue, Toni Garrn, who I remembered from their catalogues in season's past. I'll admit, I'd never heard of her until some serious google searching revealed her to be the star of the photos. She looks different than I would have expected based upon the Zara ads alone--in fact, she looks a whole lot like Lara Stone in some photos. But there's always room for another naturally-blonde model, and I'm loving Toni's doll-faced look.

If you're interested in a quick bio: Toni Garrn was born in Germany and discovered by an agent during the FIFA World Cup in 2006. She then went on to model for Calvin Klein and was hired exclusively for their brand during her second season. She's since appeared on the covers of Tush and V magazine, and she's starred in countless other editorials. And some fun facts: Toni Garrn is best friends with fellow top model Ali Stephens! Also, apparently Toni uses NO makeup or skincare products, ever. Yes-- take a look at these pictures, and then decide to secretly hate her for having such ridiculously good genes.

If you read fashion magazines or watch a lot of runway shows, it's easy to get bored of a pretty face. There is certainly no shortage of beauty in the industry, which makes it all the more miraculous when a model reaches top-model status. Daria Werbowy is not a new face in fashion. At 27 years old, she's what you might call a seasoned model and is also one of the top earning, with a salary of $4.5 million last year, according to Forbes. But what prompted me to write about Daria is her personal, rather than professional, intrigue. After a stressful week of running between class and the library, it was refreshing to read about someone who seems so easy-going and even serene. Watch any video of Daria and you'll see that her incredibly genuine personality makes her just the kind of girl you'd love to chill with in real life.

The Ukrainian-born, Canadian-raised model first began her career at the young age of 14, when she signed up with a modeling agency. Daria spent several years trying to model, but never got her big break and gave up on the idea. She didn't start working again until age 18, when she wanted to earn extra money to help pay for art school. She decided to make a second attempt at modeling and flew off to New York; by the next day, she had an exclusive contract with Prada. From then on, Daria's career was all uphill. And if you have any doubt as to Daria's staying power, head to your local H&M. Daria has always been an H&M favorite, and her face currently decorates the entire store and website.

After several years of modeling, Daria has reached a point in her career where she can take time off or move onto other things. True to her art school beginnings, she still does sculptures, paintings, and black ink drawings in her free time. In her own words, she wants to "keep going with the flow" to see where life takes her next. As for modeling in general, Daria says, "one amazing thing about models is that we come from all walks of life... we come from every corner of the world, so each girl's got an amazing story."

Ingrid Vlasov's Spring/Summer 2011 show was one of my favorites during Paris fashion week, probably because it was so enchanting to watch in person. Fashion week--or fashion month, really--is that wonderful time of the year when magazine editors from around the world emerge from their fancy high-rise offices to mingle with the fashion crowd. They walk the streets of New York, London, Milan and Paris to remind us that, yes, they really are incredibly well-dressed. Most fashion editors are the glamorous type (as they should be!), but that's why Kate Lanphear, with her ever-edgy, ever-punky attire, stands out from the rest.

The word most frequently used to describe Kate Lanphear is "cool," which is interesting because the word fails to say anything specific about her style. Kate Lanphear's style tends to defy description because she's such a paradox: despite the fact that she is a successful 35-year-old fashion editor, her style can nonetheless remind you of your punky phase from back in high school--and while your old high school photos may be cringe-worthy, Kate Lanphear carries off the punky vibe in a chic way that few can achieve. She wears a lot of tough clothes, leather jackets and lots of BLACK, yet despite her somewhat grungy tendencies, she's always perfectly put together. Her bleach blonde hair is never out of place, and her simple makeup routine (she doesn't wear any!) ensures that there's never any running mascara to mar her perfect appearance.

Kate Lanphear has always loved fashion, and she first began working in the industry when she lived in Australia. She would take on any fashion-related job that came her way while working as a bartender on the side. After taking on work at Australian Vogue and Australian Harper's Bazaar, she was offered a job as the Senior Fashion Editor at US Elle, where she still works today. She's styled many amazing photo shoots over the years, but I think that her own personal style is her best fashion contribution. Always tough, boyish, and impeccably chic, Kate Lanphear's day-to-day looks offer a working example of how to wear black (without ever looking boring). Kate Lanphear's own fashion philosophy is pretty inspiring, so take note: "That’s the thing about fashion: You can use it to hide, but it’s only magic when you use it to express who you really are."

I love looking back at the first pictures that made me notice my favorite style stars. This picture of Kate Lanphear posted on The Sartorialist over 2 years ago totally struck me--I had this saved in my "Inspiration" folder for ages...

Exactly one picture inspired this post...

Ohhhhh my God--can you say dip-dyed hair?! If I hadn't already tried (and failed) to obtain the latest hair-color trend, then this picture would have sent me straight to the salon.

Besides having awesome hair, Bianca Brandolini D'Adda happens to be an Italian heiress with first-class style. Perfectly trendy here in pastels and denim, she usually chooses either all-black or light-hued ensembles with a girlish and fashion-forward flair. Her rich family genealogy affords her the ability to buy plenty of designer ensembles, but Bianca wears everything with an ease that highlights her own fashion instincts. Her accessories are usually simple (think playful bracelets), and she isn't afraid to wear the same thing twice. Bianca opts for minimal, natural-looking makeup, and she likes to leave her long locks loose and un-styled. She admits that she knows what looks good on her, and flatters her long figure with either mini- or full-length dresses. As friend Robert Ferrell explains, "She wears an evening dress the same way she wears jeans and a T-shirt. It's just second nature for her." As a result, Bianca is never overshadowed by her clothes: no matter how stylish the outfit or how expensive the dress, she always looks relaxed, comfortable and confident.

For the modern girl with an interest in fashion and a good internet connection, there's no shortage of inspiration. And while I'm all about finding the next big thing, sometimes it pays to take a step back. So, without further ado... meet style icon Françoise Hardy...

Françoise Hardy was born on January 17, 1944. She was raised by her unmarried mother, and she first ventured into music at the age of 16, when she received her first guitar as a present from her often-distant father. After learning a few chords, Françoise Hardy realized that she could easily duplicate her favorite songs from the radio. She began to compose and perform her own music; by April of 1964, she had released her first record. Her song "Tous les garçons et les filles" became a quick success, eventually selling over 700,000 copies in France alone.

Thanks to her talent and good looks, Françoise Hardy soon became a topic of interest for fashion magazines and musicians alike. She appeared on the cover of Paris Elle and Vogue, and she was pursued by Paul McCartney, John Lennon and David Bowie, among others.

I personally think Françoise Hardy's amazing hair was her best fashion contribution. The girl has killer bangs, and really, I just can't get enough...

Francoise Hardy was no glamour girl. I would liken her style to the paired-down and almost boyish sensibilities of modern style star Alexa Chung. Hardy was all about the perfect loafers and a comfy striped shirt. Take a look...

After driving down to Southern California nearly every weekend this month, I've pretty much decided that I need to live by the beach someday. After living in rainy Northern California for the past four years, I'm falling in love with the laid-back lifestyle that my native So-Cal represents. Living in a city like Berkeley (where we have actual seasons) has given me an opportunity to wear boots, coats, and scarves to my heart's content. But as I threw on a jacket and jeans to face the Berkeley fog this morning, I couldn't help but long for warmer weather and the opportunity to wear a whole lot less. Sometimes beachwear can be lazy and not-so-chic, but model/stylist/designer Erin Wasson is proof that you CAN face the sand and sunshine in style.

Erin Wasson started her career in fashion as a model, and she made her debut as a stylist when she dressed the models for Alexander Wang's Spring 2008 collection. Her grungy and laid-back sensibilities, when paired with Wang's 90's inspired creations, made for a lust-worthy collection and a most-memorable show.

In the years since, Erin Wasson has continued to style for magazines and designers in a way that makes my heart stop. The 90's grunge look that Wasson created for Elle Magazine in March of 2009 gives me the warm-fuzzies whenever I see it. Erin Wasson has also branched out into the designing realm, creating stellar looks for the surf/skate brand RVCA and working as a jewelry designer for her Luv Low brand.

Other reasons to love Wasson? Well, she hails from Texas, and I can't help but love a Southern girl. She also spent a few months of her life driving cross country in a battered truck, soaking up the sights and scenes of the US landscape. Thoroughly American and incredibly beautiful, Erin Wasson is a picture of when the boardwalk and the runway unite.

After dying my hair super-dark brown this past week, it only seems right to do a post on Leigh Lezark, the DJ/model/style-goddess who rocks a dark-hued do better than anyone I know. Leigh got her start as a member of The Misshapes, the DJ trio she started with Geordon Nicol and Greg K only two weeks into her first year of college. Leigh has since traveled the world with her band, playing for some of music and fashion's biggest names.

Tanya Dziahileva has a crazy, mesmerizing appeal that makes her worthy of top model status. She is one of those models who's so gorgeous and yet so unique that you'll want to hunt down her pictures for hours. Her characteristically "elfish" or even "alien" face is instantly recognizable. Even trying to choose pictures for this post seemed near impossible, as Tanya looks amazing in pretty much every photograph.

Despite being only 19 years old, this blonde, Belarussian model has walked on countless runways and appeared in numerous ad campaigns. I first spotted Tanya when she became the face of Michael Kors in 2007. Since then, Tanya has worked as the face of designer brands Ralph Lauren and Celine, among others.

So, in case you haven't heard, the influence of the 90's has come back and is here to say. Trends like minimalist simplicity and grunge are at the forefront of the best Fall 2010 collections, and you can't flip through the pages of Vogue without seeing the 90's supers in numerous ads. Among the models to make a recent comeback is Claudia Schiffer, the 5'11" blonde-haired, blue-eyed German model who was discovered in 1987 at age 17. For someone who initially doubted her modeling potential (she felt sure that the agency had signed her by mistake), she's had an epic career. Notable achievements include working as Karl Lagerfeld's muse, making her runway debut at the Chanel show, and starring in the popular and seductive Guess ad campaigns of the 90's. But her real super power? With a ever-perfect body and flawless skin, it's hard to believe she's now 39!
