The show opened with a series of graphic, sexy black dresses with trussed up corseted bodices and lacy sheer skirts. They had an edgy and goth, yet romantic look. Cross-lacing, grommets, studded leather, lace and baby-doll dresses passed the runway, each piece with it's extraordinary details. Jackets and coat were crafted from stiff panels of fabric, held together by knitwear or alternatively cut in strips of leather linked by lace.

Tisci's interest drifted toward the streetwear scene in the last couple of years as he turns his collections more wearable without losing the 'sexual heat' and creativity he's so known for.

Not only one of my ultimate favorites for Spring 2015, it also ranks at the top of the very best collections of the season.

I absolutely love roaming street style blogs on lazy sunday afternoon and my absolute favorite still is, without doubt, Arrondissement 21. There were off course a lot of black and white standout pieces, but this season there was also a lot of print-heavy, textile-rich looks. From vintage pieces to straight of the runway pieces, the best pieces are translated directly to the sidewalks in this certain effortless way. Inventing a style means inventing a life to go with it, that's why Street Style Blogs still remain to be so popular along the fashion crowd.

And this season, there's a certain "Je ne sais quoi", which you sense more than ever.

What not many people know about me, is that next to Fashion, I am also very much into photography; from frame to motion. (gifs etc). I've always liked an interesting mixture between documentary and portrait photography. Next to the mostly staged fashion photography, I also like pictures that capture sensitive moments filled with natural light and beautiful details. I believe very much in the integration of art and life, and the preservation of beautiful moments.

The 1960s were a starting point for Versace's new Resort collection. Versace showed several short A-line dress silhouettes and a few suits. The collection is filled with a colorful mix of fun patterns, bold colors, animal prints, and off course the signature Medusa symbol. Clean black-and-white separates make a nice contrast against the neon colors. I especially loved the patchworks of glossy, multicolor python skin on the pieces. Details like fringed handbags completes the image and is in great contrast with the structured lines of the pieces.

Chic, bold and rich are the top three keywords for this collection.

I want to share with you my favorite swimwear for this summer through selected snapshots of the latest editorials. This summer, it's all about edged femininity. This year there are a lot of exciting new options, so there's no better time to step out of your sartorial comfort zone and try a high-waisted bikini or cutout halter one-piece.

And if I may be so honest, I like a good cutout swimwear piece myself once in a while. Whether it’s making a bold statement or simply taking your style credentials to the waterside, an update to your bikini selection will make holidays and hot weekends all the more exciting and enjoyable.

For my job, I stayed in Nice recently and had just one day to make a stop at Cannes.

I realized the French Riviera city has so much more to offer then the Annual Film Festival and the International Advertising Festival. The city is also famous for its luxury shops, restaurants, and hotels.

Since noble Britons rolled in to what was then a tiny fishing village in the 1830s, it became the place to be for fashionista's and luxury travelers. tourists and residents alike to mingle by the Mediterranean on the legendary Promenade de la Croisette & to drink cocktails and enjoy the quiet life of the Riviera. I had the chance to relax in the city for one afternoon and wanted to share with you my terrace discoveries of the day.

InterContinental Carlton

The InterContinental Carlton Cannes is a luxury hotel built in 1911, located at La Croisette and listed by the Government of France as a National Historic Building. The hotel is most known for it's central location for the Alfred Hitchcock film to catch a thief. From the majestic Belle Époque building to the elegant rooms, the hotel will take your breath away, even if you just have a stop for a glass of Rosé. The restaurant offers a sea-view terrace. The concierge can point you to the old town and shopping spots on Rue d'Antibes!

This terrace literally provides it all, if you want a bird's-eye view of iconic hotels, mountains and coastlines. I really enjoyed the magnificent views of the surrounding area. It's the ideal setting to enjoy a early evening cocktail or glass of wine.

When not having a drink, guests can enjoy the terrace's heated pool and jacuzzi overlooking the sea. You can take some nice panoramic shots over here, while enjoying and overlooking the vibrant but peaceful city.

In a couple of days, I'll be flying to Nice & Cannes during the Cannes Film Festival that kicks off today. As a fashion blogger, i'm not only curious which fashion forward looks will hit the red carpet in the French Riviera, but also about the selection of movies that will showcase during that time.
Of the 19 directors competing for the crowning Palme d'Or award, no fewer than 13 have been nominated before. Here's a top 3 of movies from Cannes Official Selection I would definitely love to see this year:

A look at the life of legendary French designer Yves Saint Laurent from the beginning of his career in 1958 when he met his lover and business partner, Pierre Berge.

This film is produced by the brothers Dardenne (Belgium pride). They write, produce and direct all their films together.I like a lot of their movies, because every single one is intensively naturalistic, documentarylike, which makes it so close to reality and keeps the audience enraptured. This movie is about a woman (Marion Cotillard) who has only one weekend to visit her colleagues and - with the help of her husband - convince them to sacrifice their annual bonuses so she can keep her job.

I always been a huge admirer of Xavier Dolan his movies. He is very picky in the selection of his actors. In this movie two actresses who each impressed me in a previous Xavier Dolan film, Anne Dorval and Suzanne Clément, are taking the lead. His fifth-feature film is about a widowed single mom that finds herself burdened with the full-time custody of her explosive 15-year-old ADHD son. As they try to make ends meet and struggle with their impetuous and unpredictable ménage, the new girl across the street, Kyla, benevolently offers needed support. Together, they find a new sense of balance, and hope is regained.

Lagerfeld presented Chanel's Cruise collection in Dubai, the land of massive building development, tourism, mega-wealth creation (and unfortunately slavery). Lagerfeld about his show; "This is my idea of a romantic, modern Orient, a new One Thousand and One Nights." And there was no place more appropriate to offer it up than Dubai, where West and East, real and fake meet each other with the hazy cityscape in the background.

He describes the collection pieces as an Orient of his imagination of the 21st century.

Arabic paving stones and tiles from the 11th and 12th centuries were the inspiration and decorated the pieces. Disregard the busy patterns, Lagerfeld hit a sweet spot of elegance and seeming simplicity with his collection.

It's definitely a collection made for the Emirati women, now Dubai is back on a strong financial growth track, it's a good investment and business opportunity for Chanel Couture, with an already large customer base in the Emirates.

The influence that street style has on the runway and fashion trends, is undeniable. The phenomenon is practically unrecognizable from what it was just a few years ago. I, personally, get some good inspiration from roaming the quality street style blogs where all the city's most fashionable residents show off their stylish wares. Allthough it is known for creative minds showing off the newest trends in a wearable way, "street style" has changed a lot for the last years. The fact that "real people" are now too purposely and unsubtle dressing for the cameras, has become a self-aware rather than accidental culture. Even industry professionals have the need to be photographed as a confirmation that they still matter in the fashion industry; Anna Dello Russo recently told the Telegraph, “In the beginning [being photographed for street style] was a little embarrassing. But sometimes now I think: ‘Oh, if I do not get photographed I will be miserable’. Allthough some people take it too far, it has become an established part of the fashion industry. Yet again, I find some capturing trends and unique styles I wanted to share with you. Enjoy!

One of my favorite Spring 2014 pieces are from the Versace show, which oozed on urban luxury. We saw flashy separates, skin grazing bra tops, tight trousers, alongside harness details, heavy hardware and loosely cut outerwear pieces. The Medusa Symbol was applied to almost every single piece. The collection had an overall Guns'n'Roses, Inner rock chick feeling, but with the classic Versace sex-appeal. There were a lots of black pieces, but the series of lilacs, baby blues and white mixed in, the pieces had a softer touch to it. The collection ended with a parade of evening gowns, with draped fabrics and deep slits, creating very feminine silhouettes. Exquisite glamour is evident throughout, with exceptional tailoring, incredible detailing, and the richest textures, which makes the Versace pieces standout yet again.
Can't wait for the Pre-Fall collections!

With Fashion Week's Finale in Paris, we had the chance to take a look at the elegant women who have graced the streets with their impeccable winter looks.

In the city renowned for its elegance and style, and at times, total sartorial madness, the street is the place to get inspired.

I saw a lot of statement coats, soaring heels and black&white passing the revue. Definitely a good sign for me, as black and whites are dominating my 'walk in closet' for this fall.

Fashion Week is still a place with dominating overdressed peacocks, but I prefer the sophisticated looks with subtle creative details. Like Ann Demeulemeester said after her show; “naturally eccentric, by which I mean a woman is eccentric by nature, from the inside; she doesn’t have to show it on the outside,” I couldn't agree more...

After the September Issue, there's another up & coming fashion documentary, focusing on former Vogue Paris editor-in-chief and fashion stylist Carine Roitfeld. For 10 years, Carine Roitfeld was the go to person at French Vogue pushing fashion media to all new heights. Mademoiselle C lets us into Carine’s inner circle of friends that includes Tom Ford, Karl Lagerfeld, Bruce Weber, Mario Testino, Riccardo Tisci and Donatella Versace. Not only does it reveal the inner workings of her professional life but also her personal life such as becoming a grandmother.

On September 11^th, the wait will finally be over as Roitfeld’s Mademoiselle C premiers.

But untill then, you can watch a 5 minute sneak peak of the documentary below!

Since the brand changed it name, the pieces seem more rock'n'roll with a chic touch of edginess. Hedi Slimane, the new designer, has definitely kept the trademarks of Yves Saint Laurent, but has taken the label in a new, unexpected direction. Think leather, tuxedo tailoring & sequins. Every single piece oozes that they are timeless in their elegance and coolness. There are trim leather trousers, motorcycle jackets, and one-shoulder dresses that are accented with strips of metal bands. In contradiction to most of the resort shoots, the resort shoot is set in an industrial space that quite perfectly showcases the softer side of the designs.

It's been a while I gave you a selection of street style snapshots featuring the locals straight from the street.The rise of street style photography is seen as a good thing and a bad thing. In one part it brings unnecessary crowds of people to stand outside thirsting to get their picture taken. On the other hand, it's one of the most inspiring sources to translate runway pieces to the street. Bill Cunningham is hailed as the founder of Street Style, as he began taking unexpected photos of celebrities and fashion icons in New York City in 1948. For me, street style will always hold a key role in revealing and supporting emerging trends and gives an opportunity to allow people to become apart of the dialogue that is emerging in fashion culture. For Fall 2013 trend inspiration, it's the trends that emerge on the streets that inspire me the most. Fashion Week may have been filled with wind and rain, but that didn't stop the fashion set from bringing major style to the streets. The fall trends were impeccably showcased by both the known fashionista's of the street-style circuit as well as a bunch of fresh faces. This season is all about mixing textures, colours and prints. Also many of the ladies were wearing black open-toed boots and a very chic military-inspired jacket, 2 trends that are already lasting for a couple of seasons now. But in the end, it all came together to bring personality to the scene outside the shows!
So here is my rundown of the chicest ladies to hit the streets of the Fall 2013 Fashion Weeks.

Kate Moss is an icon of the fashion world and has been a queen of the catwalk for 20 years. Moss has achieved something that no other model has; she launched several trends (boho chic), is defining styles, and after all that time in the fashion business she never became dated. Her picture-based coffee table book features photographs, many of which have never been seen before, from the Vogue cover girl's lengthy career - chosen by Moss herself. The pictures are taken by major photographers such as Arthur Elgort, Craig McDean, Juergen Teller, Terry Richardson, and Hedi Slimane. She created the book herself; in collaboration with several fashion world pioneers as Fabien Baron and Jefferson Hack. It takes a personal look at her career, tracing her transformation into one of the most iconic style figures of all time. Designed in eight unique covers are presenting many never-before-seen pictures from Moss’ own archives.

Previous weekend, Chanel opened its Little Black Jacket exhibition in London at the Saatchi Gallery.

Back in 1954, Coco Chanel dreamed up the design for a little black jacket. Today, the jacket is one of the most iconic pieces known in the fashion world. As an hommage to Coco and her famous quote; "fashion passes, style remains", this photo exhibition wanted to show that Chanel is the label that creates clothes that could be worn for ever.

The exhibition counts about 100 black and white photographs of Karl Lagerfeld's favourite muses wearing the label's iconic jacket - both men and women-. It features people of all ages, from fashion editors to hip hop stars. They are all photographed by the designer himself. Everything is styled by former Editor in chief from Vogue Paris, Carine Roitfeld.

If you can't make it to the exhibition, no worries, all these portraits and dozens more feature in The Little Black Jacket, a luxurious cloth-bound coffee table book that will be in stores around november.

I was looking forward to one of the most anticipated show of this Spring, which had a Cuban theme. He got his inspiration from the black-and-white tile floors and wicker chairs he used as reference points for this show. There were a variety of glam-chic powerwomen strutting their stuff down the runway. The statement harlequin prints were in a variety of color this season and had crystal beading on them. Many of the cuts of the clothing referenced the early 1990's, ranging from crop tops, to mini skirts, to men's trousers. The exaggerated shoulders is also a Balmain trademark that had a comeback this season, but in a more sophisticated way. Also the jewelry was an important part of the looks, as sublime ornamentation reigned in some of the collection's looks. Staying true to Balmain’s aesthetic, the dresses of the collection were bold and sexy with an edge.

Fashion week is the week where stylists, bloggers, fashion editors and style-struck students are showing off their mash-up of vintage clothes, fast fashion and high-end labels more than ever. Each fashion week season, a new class of style setters take over the streets. Florals, an array of new prints and embellishments were everywhere to be seen on and off the runway. All the big cities are known for their sophisticated and contemporary fashion and it's the go-to place for getting some inspirational statement pieces for your wardrobe.It's the girl on the street that appeals to other women in terms of fashion, pieces that are simple in cut, but yet elegant for plenty of occasions.

The Spring collection of DVF was held in a New York Theatre. Along with creative director Yvan Mispelaere, the designer christened the collection “Palazzo” and took her customer on a trip around the world. From Roman holiday themed clothes to flowy caftans inspired by the South of Marrakesh. I saw a lot sequin embellishments on draped dresses in black, white, and red. Whether they were day or evening, the dresses were paired with narrowly cut trousers. Also in this collection, Diane may have been looking back to her youth (when she was a young girl), but the modern girl on the runway has her both feet in the present, especially with the Glass by Google glasses that had a tiny built-in camera set in the frame that gave an exclusive view from the show, but also from behind the scenes. I know can always count on DVF, cause the label knows what a woman wants in her wardrobe...

BCBG Max Azria is known for it's stocking sexy chiffon dresses, curve-hugging blazers, amazing handbags and shoes.

BCBG Max Azria went for neutral blacks and whites this Spring. We still had the signature harnesses from Fall, but in more soft and feminine way. Some of the pieces were familiar territory, but new little details kept the lineup fresh.

There was alot of contrast paneling, and clever cutouts. Dresses were in colors like rust, royal blue and marigold and lace details dominated the runway. Max and Lubov said the collection was inspired by the femme fatale muses and high contrast of Helmut Newton's black and white photography. I loved the soft edition of the power dresses!

And Olivier Rousteing proved himself yet again as the head designer of the iconic Parisien house! Still implementing the rock/glam chic look, he chose to give this collection a softer edge. There were also a lot of diamond and striped prints with floral accentuations. Pastel shades were added to gold embellishments and sheer fabrics.

He used South Beach (Miami) colors like mint, yellow and peach. There are almost couture elements visible in the collection, like the handcrafted embellishment of the collection and other details. "Fun, happiness, and hope" were the pointers of the collection, said Rousteing. And in my opinion, he nailed all three of them!

Definitely a winner resort collection for me!

It was an emotion filled show for Donatella Versace who went back to the Ritz Hotel in Paris, the home of her brother Gianni Versace for eight years.

Lindsey Wixson opened the show in an A-line trench constructed from thin strips of ivory patent woven buckles and cinched with a statement belt where the roman XIX is written on it. There was a big variety of feminine flirty dresses in lightweight fabrics. The pieces are represented in a more elegant way, but still oozed a lot of sex appeal like usual. Lush, rose pink, aqua blue, green, yellow, and a range of highly detailed beige and tans all contributed to the elegant yet sexy looks. While keeping the some of the trademarks of Versace, she still does something innovative every collection. This time we saw the finest hi-tech polyester sewed into the skirts, which gave the pieces a more complex feel. The label amazes me collection by collection, from their couture collections to the H&M collaboration, I love the glam!

With the temperatures rising in Belgium, I decided to put all the best summer editorial shots together from may. I've selected a couple of the spring/summer shoots from may and june, highlighting the most coveted looks from the runway. The collections this summer contain a lot of swirling printed skirts, tiny lace-edged tops, and slews of lace-encrusted dresses, sheer body-slinking knits, and modern takes on the decorated, jet-embroidered tailoring. All the shots are feminine and vibrant – filled with bold prints and innovative styles. There were plenty of body-molding dresses smothered in sequins and gold embroidery. I also see plenty of skirts, dresses, bathing suits and jackets cut in the most amazing way possible. Let the summertime begin and enjoy the snapshots!
