While freezing away here in Belgium, I was looking at some inspirational traveling pictures and dreaming that it was summer already. While looking for amazing places to stay, I stumbled upon this place situated in the Nwanetsi Concession Area in the Kruger National Park, South Africa. The lodge is called the Singita Lebombo Lodge. I've already been in South Africa once but didn't have enough time back then to do the Kruger National Park. But the ultimate South-African Safari is still on my wishlist. So first of all when I look for a place to stay, I look at the location. That's why I like this place so much: it rests lightly among the ancient boulders of the Lebombo Mountains overlooking the African plain where 2 rivers meet. All the rooms have floor to ceiling glass walls, ideal to spot the African wildlife.

Also the design of Lebombo Lodge is one of a kind. The furniture comes from home-grown modern designs created by local craftspeople working in concert with funky young designers. Nature's elements are woven into the overall design in such a good way that it enhances the drama of the wild surroundings. No wonder that Tatler UK magazine called this unique lodge "A cause for global celebration" and Michael Kors regularly loves to stay here while visiting South Africa.

Balmain keeps on surprising me season by season! When other designers have a season with showstopper pieces and then a more basic season, Olivier Rousteing and his team keep on amazing me... The trademark elements were still in there: pieces with pearls and crystals all over them, the long-sleeve minidress with the famous strong shoulders,... but he keeps on redefining the pieces in another theme. He moved his Las Vegas theme to Russia. So he couldn't pick a better model than Kasia Struss. The collection pieces seem more comfy: blazer's in men proportions, comfy pants,... Though, the collection was full of intensely elegant details such as pearl-encrusted pants and renaissance details. I love that the rips and tears moved over for more sophisticated, clean pieces.

The embellished jackets are just amazing!

I'm glad to see that Versace kicked off there first couture show since 2004. Eight years passed by as Versace make an amazing return to Paris Haute Couture.

Karlie Kloss, Lindsey Wixson, Arizona Muse, Karmen Pedaru, and Josephine Skriver were among those who modeled the 15-look collection. Donatella describes the women in her show as a very glamorous warrior. So yet again she had glamazons and showgirls in mind. We saw dresses in explosive colours like sunflower yellow, gold, fluorescent green and a bright coral orange. Again with amazing materials and details: over-layers in lace, crystals, PVC discs, layered ruffles. She also features a touch of sequins and beautiful embroidery that adorn the entire collection. By using this materials, it didn't only create dramatic pieces, but the bold patterns still gave it a fun touch. For me, all the looks addressed effortless elegance. How amazing the dresses all look, the key with Versace is: ''don't overdose'': keep the heels and accessories simple. In the show they also wear leather shoes with a touch of embroidery and gold-colored metallic element. It works here, but would definitely be to much for me in real life.

*First of all, a big sorry for my lack of posts. It's a lame excuse but I went on a holiday to South-Africa and after that I immediately had to study for my exams. But I'm back now!*

And now over to the fashion part...

The pre-fall collection presentations attracted again a lot off well-dressed men and women, ready to capture their outfits. Especially the models and fashion minded people inspire me all with their creative, innovative and off the runway looks. Big sunglasses and classic black dresses were seen everywhere. And styles which start life on the street corner have a way of ending up on the backs of top models on the world’s most prestigious fashion catwalks. Streetstyle goes further than the labels, but it's how well the clothes translate someones identity. Tommy ton from Jak&Jill says: “The search for what’s out there in the streets is driving the industry and pace of fashion.” He continues, “Being able to see what people wear in any part of the world, with the click of a button, is mind boggling while feeding the industry exactly what it wants. Consumers can easily get anything from anywhere on the Internet but being able to view how people dress and wear the product all over the globe progressively drives globalization.”

According to the designers, it “is in itself a journey. It’s a playful quest of a paradise lost to be recollected… The overall expression is raw, bold and playful, yet elegant and mesmerising.”

I wanted to bring the attention on this stunning photoshoot ´Daydream´for Vogue Germany. We see december cover girl Karlie Kloss in this eastern inspired wonderland shots. Who would tell she´s only 19 years old? If you view the entire shoot, you see it's almost a story. I love it that there´s only a fine line between reality and dreamy. Even though it kinda take place in another world, we see the more wearable pieces from collections like Chanel, Chloé, DKNY, Etro, Gucci, Lanvin, Prada and Roberto Cavalli. The photographer of this shoot is Alexi Lubomirski. Being the assistent of Testino for four years, he became an established name within the fashion industry with an impressive client list, shooting for such publications as Harpers Bazaar, Harpers Bazaar, Vogue, GQ,...

For this Spring collection, Tisci put the focus rather on tailoring than prints. The designer claimed surfers and mermaids as influences, but were not literally copied. The focus was more on the underwater theme. All the pieces still had a tough touch about them: swaving snug jackets, skirts with swooping hems or scooped open and some of the pieces were hiked with gold chains. This gave them all a sharpened and sexy look. Also the oversize shark-tooth pendants (which also gives a rather edgy touch) and use of eel skin and sea wolf were the standout pointers to his theme. Their was a subtle color palette of shell pink, onyx, optic white, and sand. These gave the pieces a romantic flair too. All and all, the collection triumphed thanks to superior cuts and silhouettes. This collection also became one of Tisci's most accessible that he had ever done. Definitely seeing myself wearing one of his peplum jackets, what do you think?

In the feature, “APT with LSD,” Lauren Santo Domingo gets an inside look at the homes and apartments of some of Vogue’s favorite people—from models to designers, actors, stylists, artists, and more.We saw the Manhattan based appartments of Jessica Stam, Coco Rocha, Amanda Brooks, Samantha Boardman, and even the Vogue editor returns the camera on herself. What I love about the places, is that they all reflect their own creative universe. All combining antique and vintage furniture with one of a kind design pieces. Some even preserved elements from the original building. They all have such a good taste for art too and matching them with their interior style: Damien Hirst statues, Francis Bacon's paintings and an overdose of Warhol portraits. What's their not to like?

As you all know by now, H&M announces its latest designer collaboration with one of the world’s most iconic fashion brands Versace. They released the first official campaign visuals, starring models of the moment Daphne Groeneveld and Lindsey Wixson. Lensed by photographer duo Mert & Marcus, the images give a first impression of Versace’s greatest hits-inspired collection. Obviously we all can’t wait to see the pieces from the collection, so when pictures are released we try to share them as soon as possible. Having my doubts about the collaboration at first (high-fashion meets fast fashion), I'm surprisingly pleased with the sneak peek of the collection. The women’s collection will reference the heritage of the brand with sexy Rock ‘n’ Roll influences.

"Versace is one of the most important brands of recent times, and their collection for H&M will be glamorous and flamboyant—everything Versace stands for," said Margareta van den Bosch, creative adviser at H&M.

I'm always a big fan of the collections from Emilio Pucci, but this time I wasn't that excited. This time Dundas chose a rich gypsy themed collection: big ruffles, waist-tied sashes and mid-drift baring tops. Skirts were done in lace, organza, silks, and encrusted with crystals. Also the accessories matched the Spanish Flamenco theme : crucifix necklaces, big earrings and the hair in a ponytail tied with a scarf.

But I missed the overdose of multicolored, psychedelic prints from previous seasons.

However, some of the pieces are still amazing and the workmanship is couture-grade.

My main concern with this collection is: are there really women out there who find this pieces wearable on a day to day basis? Although I am loving the lingerie crop tops, the web looking knits and the amazing jewelry.

With Olivier Rousteing as the new creative director, we didn´t know what would become off the Spring collection. The resort collection pleased us, but it is still his first time putting the clothes on the runway in front of the entire fashion world to see and critic them. It´s not easy to please the clients of a label with a sensational reputation being so young (only 25). But as I thought, he didn´t let us down. The show was very inspired by Las Vegas, cowboys, and matadors, but he transformed this inspiration in glamorous and chic pieces. Elaborate embroideries and pieces covered in rhinestones remained the name of the game in the collection by the new designer. I saw metallic and crystal accents, leather trousers, slouchy tops, high waisted trousers and amazing fringe dresses (last picture). All finished with amazing details and precision of cut. Also the accessories were amazing: stunning metallic accessories and cuff bracelets. Rousting stayed true to the glam rock-chick atmosphere which made the house so famous, but updated the pieces in a more glamorous, less nonchalant way.

It's a pretty good year for Donatella!

The H&M collaboration is about to crush retail and many women are feeling the Versace vibe. Once again, Donatella has revisited the Versace archives for inspiration but with a new twist on the pieces.

The mood for the Spring collection was set by the luminescent glow which gave the models an angelic feel. Everything she did for summer was clean, bright, brilliantly made. The statement pieces like biker jackets; studded, second-skin pencil skirts; gold, sparkling summer pastels; mini-gladiator dresses and long flown dresses were still in there, but in a more soft way. Almost like the collection had an underwater theme. This came together with amazing accessories: the studded handbags, the amazing sunglasses and killer heels (not to wear by everybody, as even model Lindsey Wixson fell on the runway)

The collection was yet again edgy but still an ode to femininety!

The Russian It girl Miroslava Duma has a wardrobe to die for. I always liked the pieces she wears, but especially the ones she selected for New York Fashion Week.

Miroslava Duma was an editor for Harpers Bazaar Russia and now is a freelance writer for numerous big magazines as OK and Glamour. Known for her statement pieces and jewelry, she is a staple on any fashion blog and especially popular with street style photographers. Best known for her coveted collection of Hermes bags and Louis Vuitton scarves, Miroslava never puts a fashion foot wrong. What I personally love about her style is the way she combines big labels with vintage, and wearing the pieces in a effortless, nonchalant chic way. She always looks fresh and modern!

Joseph Altuzarra wanted his spring collection to be as he articulated: "mixing super techno with super kitsch." He combined sculpted body-con dresses and blazers with florals. That Altuzarra was feeling the tropics was clear as models walked in front of a backdrop of lush jungle greens. But he wanted to maintain the 'city girl' he always has in mind, which we see in the styling: bare faces with strong blackened in eyebrows. The collection was almost divided in 2 themes which came together in the end: first he started with the graphic leather dresses in black or white. Then he went over to tropical flower and bird prints. And then the 2 styles came together teamed with a lot of stunning leather details.
Mission accomplished!

In this shoot for the July issue of Soup, Nadine Strittmatter plays an actress captured behind the scenes on the streets of Cuba. It´s a sensually gritty spread. The goal of the photographer Steven Lyon was wanting to do an effort to show the not so glamorous parts about the showbusiness. To add an extra tough touch to the shots, her make up was very dark with smokey (smudged) eyes.

I like this editoral so much cause it is edgy and tough, but still the shots stay elegant and they all celebrate femininity to the fullest, but in a more realistic way. Still, Nadine delivers angsty glamour shot by shot. And with Lyon who is known for his strong, cinematic imagery, this shoot almost couldn't go wrong.

I really wanted to share the september issue from Allure with Jessica Stam. Jessica Stam was just 18 when she first appeared on Flare´s November 2004 cover. A lot has happened between then and now, on her september 2011 cover shoot. A thousand of runway shows and campaigns later, she´s still a big name in the fashion industry. For this shoot, she slipped into creations from Louis Vuitton, Emilio Pucci, Giles and The Row which all compliments the theme of the shoot very well: Naughty & Nice.

She splits her style between innocent and a chic she-devil for photographer Max Abadian’s shoot. What I love about Abadian is that he's always creating a captivating atmosphere. A perfect example is the cover where Jessica Stam is dressed in a intricate cut-out mini-dress by Vionnet, a pair of heels by Christian Louboutin and an oversized ring.

As known, Olivier Rousteing, a key deputy of Christophe Decarnin at Balmain, is confirmed as the house's new designer. He will supervise the design and development of both men's and women's ready-to-wear collections. Resort is the first season in which Rousteing has had control of the collection since Decarnin’s exit earlier in the year.

He incorporated not only the brand's rock & roll spirit but also the impeccably elaborate handwork where the fashion house is known for. Elvis in Las Vegas was a reference point for the collection. There were also Native American references, borderline sexy-edgy dresses and many more. He kept the main focus points of the collection (the sharp shoulders) but changed the propertions to give the pieces a new breeze. Also the Americana/biker girl motif had a chill sensibility to it. My favourite ones are definitely the first dress and the jumpsuit! And yours?

Forever 21 is coming to Belgium!

Forever 21 operates a chain of retail clothing stores catering to teenage girls and young women. The fast-growing retailer operates more than 450 stores under the Forever 21. As Forever 21 continues to rocket into the 21st century, competitors are undoubtedly trying to decode the fast-fashion chain's successful formula. But as you know Belgium hasnt always been the fastest fashionwise, so our first store opens the 30th of July in Brussels City. So thats very exciting news for many fashion minded men and women. I got to know the label from the online shop where I already purchase clothes for many years now. What makes me choose for Forever 21 is that they are delivering the latest trends at very reasonable prices. About 60 percent of production is based in the United States; this allows the company to bring new runway trends to market in a matter of weeks.

And what does a fashionista wants more?

First of all a big sorry for the lack of posts, but I have many exams and presentations this last month. In my free time I usually try to keep a social life and search for fashion inspiration. So I stumbled upon the new resort collection of Burberry Prorsum. For this collection, Bailey took inspiration from African tribal prints: rows of colored wooden beads, shoes with tribal necklaces on (really liking the shoes!). The fabric, which is reminiscent of the wax-print technique used in Ghana (going there for a couple of months soon) appeared on many trenchcoats. The trenchcoats and its colours were refreshing: the turquoise-, orange-, and green-flecked patterns which are cut tight into a ruffle-fronted, knee-length dress, and appear in a short A-line, sixties-inspired cotton raincoat. Bailey: "We really wanted to emphasize this feeling of artisanal and decorative pieces that had been touched by hand, celebrating craftsmanship but always with this playful element." And he certainly did just that and makes me want to have an array of these coats in my closet.

The Cannes Film Festival remains the single most important date in the worldwide movie industry. 30,000 producers, distributors, financiers, directors, actors, models, agents,journalists and occasional writers descend on Cannes to hook up and do business. The dress code is pretty strict: men in dark suits and women in outrageously revealing dresses

Some of my followers requested me to make a list of my favourite dresses from the Cannes Filmfestival.These ladies definitely know how to make an entrance. We´ve seen lot of cutouts and open back dresses. The red-carpet dressing thus far has been so standout and directional (the unexpected elegance of white for evening was a favorite that is sure to be seen again) thatI had to post some of them and share them with you.

And that's why I devoted an entire post about her.

The Blumarine woman for next fall dresses in minimalism. She wears basic pieces: mini-dresses, long, straight pants, double-faced trench coats with belts at the waist. Anna Molinari left the animal prints from previous Spring for what it is. The minimal mood ran throughout the entire collection, though she reworked those silhouettes in brightly saturated colors with its intensity and optimism. We´ve seen an explosion of vibrant colours: orange, yellow, violet, aquamarine, light blue... This collection is all about easily wearable pieces that could act as colorful accent pieces in any woman’s wardrobe. Model favorites such as Stam, Coco, Vlada and Chanel graced the catwalk and uplifted the collection even more. On top of that, the pieces were one by one heavily inspired by the 1960s: we find clean cuts, pale pink overcoats with black linings made of heavy wool with leather details which all convey a very chic and modern idea of outerwear. Molinari did something totally different but it works and I really like the pieces!

Their is no better inspiration, then the street!

Posting pictures of fashion people on the street and their coordinated outfits (for others to admire and emulate) have become a popular way to share looks online. So from the off-duty models to the guests, I’ve selected the best looks from each city. These ladies show me that innovative fashion is not restricted to the catwalks...

Streetstyle blogs/sites shows us that nailing your new season wardrobe doesn’t have to mean breaking the bank. This well dressed people show us that expensive pieces, combined with affordable and versatile pieces can be as beautiful as an entire runway piece. Like this Spring I recommand you to buy those killer heels, more loosen up cut out dresses and a black effortless chic jacket/blazer. So you see that Street Style Photography is a booming business, most of all because the styles showcased on the street have more impact on what will become a trend and a city's trademark.

The dresses were in a neutral palette of beige, brown, black and white but adorned with gold hardware, silver chain, and leather harnesses. The fall designs prove their beauty is relentless, using new techniques and finishings. As well as some different cut outs on the dresses, which really has given the pieces the change that they needed. Everything had a very rockabilly feeling, even the details like the hair; the sides are slicked back with combed-in gel and pinned together in the back, the front-middle section is teased and brushed, so it flowed down on the back of the head. Adding to that, zippers were a key detail and lined the back of nearly every dress. It wasn’t all short dresses however: we see also a fur trench, a bomber jacket, and loose cropped pants. This time their was also room for the more sophisticated Leger fan.
