TRYING LOREAL MATTE TOP COAT

Today is a perfect day to go chrome blue on my nails. But before I show you the final result, let me introduce to you this magical top coat from L'oreal. What it does is it gives your nails that matte finish. I have seen quite a lot of designs and styles on how to use this top coat.

So here's my blue nail polish with Super shine top coat already applied to it. The blue nail polish alone is already pretty enough but I'm going for something "artistic" for the sake of this blog. :)

This technique is probably not new to you and its usually used for doing french tip nails (taped the other way around though). But with this style, I'm going for a matte look base...and shiny tips! Of course!

So here it is, my half matte with glossy tip nails! I think its pretty and I think its great for a change. Next time i'm going to try it with black nail polish. I bet it'll look great as well..Oh i'm sure it does on whatever color you fancy.

Fall for Mega Shiny Ruby

Since we are approaching the sweater weather, I decided to go for a bolder nail color. I don't typically follow the season's trend on nail colors but this time I just feel like going bright red. Red's are a must-have in my nail polish collection mainly because I wear them any time I want (not because it's the trend).

Red being one of the favorite nail polish for fall, I have this amazing Ruby Ruby #369 by Sinful Colors Professional on my nails right now. The brightest red I've ever had so far. I love how it makes my fingers look young and bright as well. Do you ever notice that when you have your favorite nail polish on too?

Side note: I know it's late but this post is supposed to be published YEARS ago. I stopped blogging for more than 2 years and out of the blue I thought and wondered how my old blog account is doing? I hope its still active. Lo and behold, it is indeed still active! Now i'm thinking about going back to posting my random shits again. Lol! Well enough said..I hope ya'll have a wonderful day! xox

The Drugstore FOTD

It may be a rare occasion that I get to put on a full face makeup, but when I do, it seems like it's not that much products anyway. I've always loved the natural look and the sort of like no makeup look.

Basically, this look should be a mix of drugstore and dept store brand but since most of it are from the drugstore, I'll just keep the title like that. The main reason why I can't skip the Stila liquid liner or at least use a different brand is because it's the only one jet black liner I ever liked. Most of the drugstore brands are not as black or not as dark. I will be posting a review about that soon though.

I love all these products and I've been an avid user of them for quite a while now. In fact, I think I've used these products all together as often as I could remember.

OMG! I've been MIA on this blog for more than a month now. I knew I was intentionally procrastinating but it's been too long and I thought I should blog something about my new loved mascara. I'm on a hunt for so long now for a much affordable alternative mascara and finally I found it. My holy grail Dior Mascara does not perfectly tie in with the falsies however it still has its own positive points.

The Falsies Volume Express retails for $7.49 at Walgreens. I purchased the waterproof one but they also have the washable formula available as well. This mascara claims to give you an instant false lash glam with 300% more visible lashes corner-to-corner.

I am not so fond of the spoon brush though. I may be doing it wrong as it always smears on my lids every time I brush it through my lashes. It says to hold the brush with spoon side upwards against lashes but I still get some of the products on my lids. It makes me feel like my lashes are hopeless. On the contrary, I still love the effect when I'm all done. My stick stiff and so short lashes has come to life.

Definitely needs help curling with a lash curling tool.

Single sweep of the Maybelline The Falsies.

I think if you do 2 or 3 coats will give you that fake false lashes that you are aiming for. But right now I am happy with the result. It doesn't clump and it seriously lasts all day. Definitely worth it and highly recommended.

Catching The Train

Hurray for Fridays! Don't you just love it when it's the end of the working week? Well, it's not that I'm working but I know the weekend with the whole gang (my family) will be complete again. As much as possible, we try to go out and spend some time being at a new or interesting place. But of course, I'm still struggling in updating my outfit posts though I'm certain that nobody really cares. Lol! Btw, I've been loving this jacket a lot and its been a favorite. I have been wearing them all the time.

Anyway, we took our precious little one at the Union Station here in KC so she can see Thomas in real life. We missed it though because they only had it for Christmas and we paid a visit just right after that. Dang it! But good thing they still have the mini trains for the kids to ride and the train museum. She had fun with the ride while I had fun with the lights and the view inside Union Station.

Apparently, it's my first time to be in a train station. I've never rode a train (like an old, traditional train) but would love to try someday. I always wonder too if Amtrak and the Light Rail we have in the Philippines is the same. By the way, meet the handsome pirate I met inside Union Station. :D They were having a Real Pirates Exhibit at that time but we didn't have time to get inside since everyone's getting hungry and it's getting late.

Oh My Lorde!

When was the last time you became such a fan you even want to look like him/her? I think I'm on the verge of being a super fanatic but no...not really. :D I guess I just got carried away with Lorde's music and decided to play with my makeup the other day. I actually used my new Ulta makeup kit my friend gave me as a gift but since I don't have a better picture of it at the moment, I will not include it in my makeup board yet.

After realizing that my hair is not beautifully made messy, I tried doing an updo for a more decent look. At least I think it is decent. Anyway, All the products I used are drugstore brands. I think I would call this my trademark look because this is the only makeup look I do whether it's a special occasion or on a not-so-special occasion.

This is one of my favorite nails I've ever done so far. I just love this gold polish from H&M. It brightens my hands and the application is really easy. It's not the usual glitter containing polishes that comes out rough when applied. I've already posted this on my old blog but I just wanted to showcase it again here on my new blog. I don't have any tutorial but obviously, it's so easy to do it. My current nail polish is a mess and my nails badly needs attention. The photo above is such an inspiration so I'm getting ready to choose which color to use today. What's your nail obsession lately?

It's not that I'm beautiful...but as a woman and a mom, I want to look good too! I used to mix and match everything. That's why I don't normally post favorite make-ups each month. But, surprisingly, lately I've been using the same makeup for the whole straight month. So here it goes:

I know it's the perfect time for me to use my liquid foundation because of the chilly weather but for someone like me who doesn't have the time to make myself up, I find that powder foundation is the best way to go. The Maybelline concealer really helps a lot too especially on dark under eye circles. I also dab it on some of my dark spots caused by pimples (I still get it once in a while). I also love the natural look these days and the perfect shade for me (just because I love it..doesn't really mean it's perfect on me LOL!) is the natural shade, of course! I have quite a blush from NYX but for some reason the Natural shade is a lot darker than the Mauve one. I love how the Natural shade gives me a natural rosy pink cheeks which guises a fake flush. And if you love rosy nude lips like I do, you should try the Rimmel lip liner in rose and then top it off with a sheer rose lipstick.

Ice Skating Night

I posted this outfit late because just like any other family who celebrated Thanksgiving, I too have been busy with the family, in-laws, niece and nephew who stayed over for a week. It was a lot of fun having them here in our house for the first time despite the unfinished kitchen. We've been out and about most of the time and I never really got to do ootd shots of myself since I don't want them to think I'm too vain to take selfie's of myself. lol! However, I did get a few decent ones while we're at the ice skating place the night of Thanksgiving.

Actually, it's my first time! I have tried roller blades back in high school but I'm sure you know that it's a totally different case when skating on ice. I was going really slow at first and I couldn't let go from holding the side rails because I'm afraid I'll land on my butt any time. After 30 mins I'm starting to get the hang of it until I finally decided to let go and brave the ice. It was really fun until one guy accidentally bumped on me and I was the only one who fell on my knees and butt. Good thing he helped me up too since my hubby can't. Am I that heavy?! The fall was ouchie...and I did get a bruise. Anyhow, I had fun that night and my daughter enjoyed it the most. Everybody had a blast as well. Have you tried ice skating yet? I'm sure it was such an experience too.

Peek-A-Boo!

Sorry, that picture wasn't meant to scare you. Although, yesss, I'm being a dork! Anyway, lately I've been loving this fall inspired nail color by Wet 'n Wild Megalast. At first glance you would think it's maroon but once you apply it on the nails, it becomes kinda brownish. I had to apply another coat to get those red shimmers pop out.

This holiday glam shade is in 216B Under Your spell. It's perfect for fall and winter and matches great with silver and glittery outfits.I also love how it has a manicure pro brush which is thicker and flatter than the usual nail polish brush. For me it makes application easier and coats faster.

Most of my nail polishes are Wet 'n Wild because not only they are inexpensive but they also carry a lot of shades. I believe this jar costs less than $2. I love collecting nail polishes but as much as possible I don't buy expensive ones as they tend to just sit in my drawer forever until they get expired. Even if I use it several times, I will never empty the jar. Do you have any favorite nail color for this month?

I don't know why but I noticed I've been obsessing with shoes lately. It's not like I wanted to buy a ton of shoes, which I wouldn't be able to wear everyday, but it seems like I have so many styles in my head that I wish I could have. Anyway, there's one type of shoes that I think I am missing in my shoe collection and it's the Oxfords! I can't believe I still don't own one...I've always liked it as it is great for casual outfits. And if you know me, I love casual chicness especially in neutral colors. If I ever get my hands on one then it's probably going to be my favorite shoes of all time. Maybe!

I can feel it! Fall is near and it's nice to wear my jeans again. I've never been so excited to wear them because jeans are like my outfit staple for the longest time. Moving to a country with four seasons changed all that. I had to pass Jeans for at least the entire summer season and all I could ever handle is to wear shorts.

I was never a fan of colors maroon and orange but experiencing fall has made me more eager to try warmer shades like such. Anyway, I was and still am adoring H&M's new leather booties. It's a simple, mommy-friendly outfit. Definitely one of the things that would keep you comfy at the same time stylish. I would simply style it with a gold boyfriend watch and a scarf to complete the look.

Which handbag do you think you would never get tired of? I've got a few but I am definitely not going to splurge on them especially if I know I won't be using them anyway. But what is inspirational board for, right? Like Pinterest! It's the things that you wished for and also what we can look forward to, hoping that someday if we win the lotto (that is, if you do bet on it) then we could easily afford to buy them in one fell swoop! Yup! That's just terrible...imagine spending all your winnings on luxurious items that ain't gonna make a good investment. Well, I'm just saying... :) Anyhow, I'm a girl and I can't help but adore what's in trend. I just love how these bags stayed fashionable even after a while. New styles are coming out but if you noticed they are not as quite as original because they still seem to look a bit similar to these babies here. I have always loved the Speedy type handbag or sometimes called the Boston ones...for me, they always seem timeless.

My major fashion staple is none other than white t-shirt. You can never go wrong with a basic white shirt. Whether I dress it up or down, it can definitely be paired in so many ways without looking over dressed. Sporting also my new skyscraper sandals (I believe it's about 4 inches tall) which I bought from Hautelook. It may be too high for me but it's actually not that bad when walking. If you happen to follow my old blog, you can already tell that this is an outfit that was posted months ago hence the title. I didn't realize how hard it is to move my old posts here on my new blog. I thought I could only do copy+paste and that's it. But really, I also have to consider things like conflict of the contents and how it will affect my google status. I'm also wondering if it will make me look like I'm plagiarizing my own contents. Lol!

Anyway, what I'm wearing was a really soft and comfy top from Forever 21. I may have said from my old post that it was made of lace but I realized that it was actually a crochet accent and not a lace. A crochet made out of really thin thread, I guess. Good thing I went through all my outfit photos again. It's about time to wear this top again. Fall season is coming and I can already feel it.

While people are busy partying on the 4th of July, I was out busy giving myself some retail therapy. Since we didn't plan on going to see the fireworks or visit some friends, I told my husband I'm just gonna shop until I drop (I wish!). It was a limited budget shopping that day but it sure does feel like a never-ending shopping. Everything was on sale and you can get from $1-above items, amazingly discounted stuff to enjoy. Most of the stuff I got was from H&M since they seem to have the best deals so far. I might do a haul post for all the stuff I purchased that day if I'm not too lazy to grab each of them since I already put them away the next day.

So my outfit for that day is basically just a simple and comfy outfit, perfect for an all day walking and shopping. I love my sandals that I got from Hautelook. I'm so pleased with how comfy and stylish it is. It is definitely perfect for doing some errands, going out for shopping or just for casual outfit days.

Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder Review

This product has been the most remarkable product of its kind that I have ever used because of its spot on exact claims. Rimmel’s “Stay Matte” says it all. It does gives you a smooth and shine-free look. I basically bought this for my trip to the Philippines, thinking that the weather could get hotter or even more humid and to stay looking fresh is all I ever wanted. I'm definitely loving this powder even though it only gives me light coverage. The important thing for me is how it helps regulate the oils on my face yet lightweight on the skin. It also helps minimize the appearance of pores while achieving a long lasting shine control. Containing natural mineral is also a plus!

I have a combination (dry-oily) skin but I did not have to worry about creasing or looking too cakey, instead my face felt silky and smooth. Like what the product claims, it really ‘stays matte’! I also used it over a liquid based foundation to set it and I never had to worry about retouching. I rarely use it during winter especially when the weather is already making my skin dry. The only problem with this product is the packaging. I hate how the lid comes off easily even though it is made to twist the cap for it to stay closed. If I ever take it with me, I make sure it's in a separate tight bag to avoid accidental mess.

This powder comes in 3 shades: Transparent, Sandstorm and the Silky Beige which is what I am using right now. Since most stores vary in prices and discounts, I bought mine at Walgreens for $5.99 which is really not bad for a mattifying powder. Mentioning all the pros and cons of this product, I’d say I would repurchase it and will definitely recommend it.

Revlon Colorstay in #310 Warm Golden Review + Swatch

For liquid foundations, I personally prefer matte finish. One drugstore foundation that I would definitely recommend is the Revlon Colorstay. But first off, my skin is in Mac NC35-37 shade or NC40 when in my super tan phase. I have a combination skin as well. I purchased mine from Walmart for $9.98 which is a few dollars less than what you would pay at the drugstores. My first world problem for this one though is that it still has a small hint of pink tone to it. But, there are things that I thought I should consider liking it.

Revlon Colorstay #310 Warm Golden | Combination to Oily Skin

You just have to be at the store and test the product yourself to make sure the shade you are going to buy matches you. If you already know your skin type, you can choose from what formula fits best for you such as Normal to Dry skin and Combination to Oily skin.

Based on its claim of 24 hours of flawless look and lightweight feel, I’d say, spot on, it definitely lasts long. The first test I did was to apply a tad on my wrist and after shower it’s still there. I will share how I remove long lasting foundations on a separate blog post. You just gotta have a good makeup remover for this.

I normally just use one coat and therefore it never cake on me. It actually gives a good amount of coverage even though it still shows a bit of my natural skin however it can be intensified for fuller coverage. I find that I get better result by using my fingers as it appears a lot natural than with a brush. So far this foundation hasn’t caused me any breakouts. I love that it gives a semi-matte finish. If you have some dry patches on your face, expect that it will show up; refer second image below.

Even with all these favorable reviews, there are a few things, yes just a few, that I didn’t like about it. It has a strong scent that somehow reminds me of paint or glue. Can’t tell you the exact smell but I don’t like it. It dries up quickly so you have to blend right away otherwise you will end up applying more. SPF is important but the two formulas contain different spf levels. SPF 6 for combination to oily and SPF 15 for the normal to dry skin.

Even though it’s not close to perfect shade for my skin, I still think it is a good long lasting product. It is great in preventing my skin from becoming oilier as the day progresses.

ELF Professional set brushes & Studio brushes

Elf products are known for their affordable makeup and tools. They have the regular $1 brushes which I think is very cheaply made except for the eyeshadow brushes that works okay, and the studio line brushes for $3-6 a piece which is definitely a must-try. Their studio line is made of synthetic hair and cruelty free.

A few of these brushes are just plain disappointing. Why? Because they are just that crappy. Their total face brush and blushing/bronzing blush sheds like crazy, they are gritty, and when being cleaned I can see some dye or color coming off of it. I may have had a problem once with one of the eyeshadow brush since it shed the first time I washed it but so far everything else works okay. Overall, it's not a bad brush for the price, and it is a great brush for those who are just starting out with makeup, or those who want a decent brush at a very affordable price.

I also purchased some of their new line of brushes, it was a lot better than the old one. I just had to spend an extra $2 for each ELF Studio brush. This time each brushes are more dense and smooth on the face as you apply makeup or foundation. I'm just talking in general here... yes, I am satisfied with the quality. I also like how professional it looks, great design since the handles are all black. I'm also loving their Stipple brush as I get a flawless finish every time I use it with liquid foundation. That's what we all beauty conscious gals wanted, right?! :D

Blogger Image Header & Background Not Matching

Here's a quick fix for that!

***Go to Dashboard >> Account Settings >> Google+ ...then scroll down to "Photos" and UNCHECK the Auto Enhance option. ***

As you can tell, my blog is still under construction. And one of the problems I've encountered while pimping up my page is when uploading my image header and not being able to blend in with my page background. I used Photoshop first to create my header and each time I upload it on my blog, a grayish color shows up that is very noticeable. I tried for the second time to edit my image header on picmonkey and still the outcome is the same. It is annoying to look at and I can't leave it just like that. Though I haven't tried using other photo storage websites, I was determined to get to the bottom of this. Only to find out that the culprit is Auto Enhance.

Wet n' Wild Through the Grapevine #208A Nails

Today's nail of the day would be this Wet n Wild Megalast nail color in #208A - Through the grapevine. It was two years ago when I last wore this color and I even posted a review about it on my other blog. I guess I should do a recap about this product and perhaps an update as well. Wet n Wild nail products are my favorite because not only they're inexpensive, usually costs $2 below, they are also good in terms of quality.

Like I said, I've had this for 2 years now and I still don't see any weird effects inside the bottle compared to the forever 21 polishes which color and other properties separates. Definitely not usable anymore. I'm super happy about this nail polish, highly recommended and worth trying.
