Friday Faves: How I Wear and Layer Gold Necklaces

I have created a link up for you today, which you’ll find below and wanted to share with you a little about how I wear and layer gold necklaces… because I have been wearing my most special pieces non-stop lately for good luck and some sentimental comfort.

I personally have a few special 14k gold necklaces that I wear every day. They’re meaningful to me and also little tokens of good luck or represent things I love (such as the moon and stars).

You may likely all remember me sharing my celestial Starry Night Necklace a million times, I rarely take it off. I also recently got this 14k Gold Diamond Hamsa Necklace, which I have been wearing as a token of protection and good luck. They’re both complementary lengths to wear together and as the style of both necklaces is asymmetrical, they suit each other perfectly.

Some people find layering necklaces intimidating and don’t know where to start. The great thing is, whether you’re a minimalist or love making a statement, both vibes can easily be achieved.

They key to layering necklaces is choosing complementary styles and lengths, which allows you to show off each piece in it’s own right. When shopping for a new necklace, I always pay attention to the chain length and work out how it will fit in with my other pieces.

If you’re starting out with layering necklaces, just focus on selecting necklaces of different lengths and graduating them from shortest to longest.

A must-have accessory is a necklace extender, it’s a total game changer. You simply clip it onto the back of any necklace and it can make the length a little longer. This gives fantastic flexibility to create the perfect lengths for layering necklaces.

The truth is, there is no wrong way to wear necklaces… and you can never have too many layers! The best tip for layering necklaces is to make them special and meaningful to you. So whatever feels right for you to wear on the day, whether it’s a locket with photos of loved ones, a charm that represents something you’re passionate about, a token of good luck, or a necklace gifted to you from someone you love, mixing and matching to wear them all is a cool way to represent your own personal style and self-expression.

Friday Faves: Life Update – I’ve Been Unwell (Sorry for Being MIA)

Happy Friday, my friends! I just wanted to write a post to apologize for being MIA the last few weeks. I have been sick in hospital and have needed to take some time to try to get better and recuperate. I’ve been meaning to write this and let you know, but haven’t been able to until now. So I’m sorry for not letting you know and you’ve been wondering what’s been going on.

I love this blush sweater and leather skirt outfit! My Blush Pink Sweater has been on major repeat, it’s so cozy and comfy – the ruffles are such a fun touch! I recently wore it with this Black Leather Skirt in New York and found it was the perfect balance of style and comfort.

A great tip for creating a flattering look when wearing fall and winter clothes is keeping the outfit proportions balanced. So if you have a loose and cozy sweater, style it with a more fitted bottom half – like this leather pencil skirt or skinny jeans. Every girl also needs a pair of nude heels in her closet, they literally work with everything and make styling outfits so easy! There’s nothing like a fresh coat of fall nail polish to make you feel put-together and ready for a new season. Don’t you agree? We’ve been doing some home renovations and I loved doing a gorgeous grey manicure (as pictured below). I actually enjoy doing my own manicure at home and wanted to share some of the most stylish fall nail polish colors so you can do your own nails too! I mean, obviously going to a salon is amazing, but week-to-week, I do enjoy doing my own mani.

Style Sessions: How to Wear a Black and White Striped Dress for Fall

I’m delighted to share how to wear a black and white striped dress outfit. I bought this I.N.C. Striped Faux-Wrap High-Low Dress when I was in New York for Fashion Week last fall and have never had a dress that gets so many compliments. People have been literally stopping me on the street, in stores and restaurants, at hotels… all very kindly saying how beautiful this dress is and asking where it was from.

Naturally, I need to share it with you too! After all, you’re THE most important people to get the scoop on my fashion finds. What I think makes this dress extra special is the high-low hem and that when you walk it gently floats behind. It moves perfectly and makes you feel so feminine. The cut is super flattering too, the dress cinches just below the bust and effortlessly falls down.

As a long sleeve dress, it is amazing for fall and winter – just add a leather jacket! The material is still light, so you could definitely wear it in spring and summer. I wore it on some very hot New York days… but it works equally well when the weather is colder.

I styled the dress with White Sneakers, which I think gives it a cool street style vibe. However, I’ve also worn it with pretty sandals when I had a day filled with events and meetings. So you can probably pick up on the fact I’ve honestly lived in this I.N.C. Striped Faux-Wrap High-Low Dress. It was also packed for our Alaskan cruise adventure last year, being so versatile, it’s a perfect vacation dress.

As soon as I saw this Free People leopard dress, it was love at first sight! It’s a perfect fall dress, the long sleeves make it easy to wear and the cut-out back shows just the right amount of skin.

This Free People dress also has pockets! I always get excited when I find a dress with hidden pockets, do you love this too? The material has a silky feel, so it’s also beautiful to wear.

I have dressed mine both up and down, wearing it with heels for a few evening dinners and events – every girl needs a fabulous pair of black heels. Then during the day, I paired this Free People leopard dress with sandals. I’ve also styled it with my black leather jacket, which gives the outfit a very cool vibe.

Leopard is a major trend for fall and everyone has been wearing it – so trust me, invest in a stylish leopard dress this season and you’ll wear it constantly.

They’re simple, easy and not expensive! No matter where you are, you can do everything on this list… and better yet, these are fun things you can do on your own and with your partner, family or friends.

1. Read a Book

The ultimate escape! I love getting lost in a fabulous novel. In fact last weekend, I read a new book from my favorite author, Sophie Kinsella, from cover to cover. Reading a great book is a brilliant way to relax, if you’re looking for ideas this is my round-up of Amazon’s Best-Selling Books.

2. Binge a TV Series

Whatever viewing vibe you feel like, thanks to Netflix, you can indulge in back-to-back episodes of a new series or old favorite. A few of my current go-to’s are Schitts Creek (it’s seriously the best and sooo funny!), How To Get Away With Murder, Jane The Virgin, Dead to Me, Stranger Things, Queer Eye, Riverdale… and some oldies including Gossip Girl and The Vampire Diaries.

3. Get Outdoors

Spending time outdoors is a wonderful way to spend a weekend. Whether it’s a hike on a new trail, walk along the beach or stroll through the neighbourhood, nothing beats some fresh air and sunshine to make you feel alive!

4. Road Trip

I love going on drives! Choose a great soundtrack, pull back the sunroof if you have one and enjoy cruising to the beach, the mountains, countryside or any new spots you’ve wanted to explore. Why not stop and enjoy a tea or coffee somewhere along the way too.

5. Podcasts

I have become obsessed with listening to Podcasts, they’re a great alternative to music when you want to mix things up. I’ve recently got my mum (and even my husband) into a true crime podcast called Case File, they’re all different cases and with over 10,000 five-star reviews I’m clearly not the only one who is enthralled. For some lighthearted fun I also enjoy listening to the LadyGang, With Whit, Straight Up With Stassi and Naked with Catt Sadler.
