I do have some colleagues or ex-colleagues friends, but not all of my colleagues are my friends.

And I never feel comfortable to discuss personal issues with colleagues who are not my friends. Is this my problem? Wondering.....

Interwise/ online training

I am having a Interwise online training during the second random alarm.

During the any Interwise session, not necessary this one, one question that always come to my mind is

How effective Interwise or online training is?

Back to this, another question comes to my mind,

How to make Interwise or online training more effective?

Perhaps this is the issue which I can figure it out.

But, I know for sure now is the most annoying thing happens during the Interwise/ online training , which is Instead of to mute the microphone, the audiences are having their own discussion. Totally disturbing. Not only to the trainer or presenter, but also to the other participants. Avoid it. Stop it. Respect others, at least.

.......I received my first random alarm to check what I was doing at that moment.

I was actually went to deliver a real time PCR to customer with my colleague. The customer unit currently is in the process of been delivered to the repair center for repair.

During the car trip to the customer site, we randomly chat about lots of stuffs from politics, education to relationship.

Out of sudden, I asked a question to him, "Do you still go for movie after having your first child?" And he answered, "No." "I went for movies the most when I am in a relationship with my wife, more than when I am single, and totally never go to cinema ever since our first child, " he continued. And the reason for this is they do not want to have an incidence when their child is crying when the movie is still on show.

And I told him that I watched more movies when I was single, and less after I started my relationship with my girlfriend. The reason being, is more difficult to get two nice seats for a great movie that we both love when we are both free.

At this point, suddenly I notice that, we do really need to compromise a bit or even a lot when we are committed to a relationship, be it before or after marriage. To me, to compromise, until now, I never felt burden; in fact, I enjoy my life now. At least, I get to know the direction and the focus of my life.

I truly enjoy what I did when the 2 pm alarm clock rang. I really enjoy to have random chatting with people. To this point, suddenly I notice one thing, I tend to be more quiet when I was with a group of people. Do not know why? Could it be, I can't find a common topic when there are many people involved? I guess, I need to catch up on my communication skills, not only to a single but also to a group of people. I need to be more connected.

After watching, following is the My To-Do List for the next 30 days

Clean and tidy up my room each day for 10 minutes
Save at least x amount of money each day
Write down what I do and how I feel for 8 random alarms each day
Come out with one new idea or share one great idea I come across each day
Read for at least one hour each day
Reduce my consumption of deep fried food

I am sure I can do it......

Standardization, does it leads to mediocrity ???

As always, there is always an attempt to standardized a process to made it more manageable, more routine and less error prompt. This is what is been told to the employees.

By standardization a certain process, it allows the management to apply carrot and stick management method to its fellow employees, which emphasize on the rewards to increase productivity and punishment to avoid mistakes.

However, does this leads to mediocrity?

I guess, YES.

Because by standardization we perform based on the extrinsic rewards and ignore what our intrinsic drive tells us or directs us in how to perform in our daily task.

Basically, we become assembly line workers.

This is what most management teams wish to achieve. But is this what we want?

I am reading onEdward de Bono's Teach Yourself to Think. Edward de Bono.

As I am reading about lateral thinking, there is one wonderful example used to show the lateral thinking in solving issues, and the example is related to the lift.

"There is a well-known story told in books on operations research about a building in which people complained about the slowness of the lifts. The engineering solution was going to be very expensive. The cheap solution to was to put mirrors around the entrances to the lifts. People now spent so much time looking at themselves and others in the mirrors that no one complained any more."
