Your first look at Maison Martin Margiela's collaboration with H&M!

Just as the women’s ad campaign has surfaced, we’ve been treated to a dose of anticipation too – here’s the first look at Maison Martin Margiela’s campaign – and collection! – for H&M.

The fact that the illusive French fashion house has teamed up with the Swedish high street brand in the first place is really quite novel, so it comes as no surprise that this is no ordinary collaboration. Rather than a line of watered-down pieces inspired by the label’s aesthetic, Margiela’s collection will be made up of re-editions of iconic pieces from the MMM archives. Not versions, re-editions (let’s be quite clear about that).

From what we can see from the sneak peek polaroids, there’s a long, classic camel overcoat; a well-worn denim jacket paired with sort-of-matching jeans; white skinny jeans and shoes; and a black tote bag that looks similar to the Line 11. As for the campaign, it was shot by Sam Taylor-Johnson and shows a rugged dude skipping (or is he tap dancing?) in the street wearing a selection of the above.

So, who’s excited for the collection to drop on November 15th? Given the whole re-edition approach, we’re pretty geared up.

Would you pay £50,000 for one of the rarest Ian Fleming originals?

In case you need reminding, today is Global James Bond Day, the day dedicated to celebrating 50 since Dr. No was first released on the big screen. We’ve already got the fragrance, and we’ve had a little listen of Adele’s theme tune for the new film, Skyfall, too. But perhaps there’s no better way to celebrate the British icon than with an original copy of Ian Fleming’s novels.

Vintage Seekers, an online store selling original vintage collectibles, has a whole stack of them, including Diamond’s Are Forever (1956), From Russia With Love (1957), and The Spy Who Loved Me (1962). They begin at £275, which might seem like a fair stretch all things considered, but we haven’t got to the half of it yet. There’s also an original first edition copy of Casino Royale from 1953, possibly the most iconic Bond tale of them all. And how much will that set you back? £50,000. We’ll say that again. Fifty thousand pounds.

It might be one of the rarest James Bond books in the world, but that’s insane by anyone’s standards, right?

One of our favourite shoe labels is launching a bag collection just in time for Christmas.

Woah, you guys: Grenson, one of our favourite shoe labels, is branching out into a range of bags. This is good news for two reasons: firstly, Grenson’s signature chunky brogues are nothing short of brilliant, which means its bags are bound to boast the same style credentials. And secondly, well, don’t we all need something suitably city-appropriate to keep our contents? Quite.

The brand, who still operates from the same factory it set up in 1866, will launch its debut accessories line this December (just in time for Christmas), with a series of of bags handily named after their purpose. The Five Day, Two Day, One Day and Tote – varying in size as per their description – come in a range of fabrics and colours (brown suede, cognac calf-grain leather, and smooth black calf skin) and all feature the brand’s signature brogue punch detailing.

They start at £385 and go up to £685, which is a little on the steep side, but we dare say worth it for a weekend bag that’ll last you a lifetime. Available this December at grenson.co.uk and at select London stores.

What happens when Britain's top designer works with Germany's best camera manufacturer? They make the sexiest camera we've ever seen.

Well, haven’t Leica been busy. We’ve always loved their cameras, and they’ve recently launched a host of them – including a collaboration with Apple’s Jony Ive – but this is something else. To say we want a Paul Smith edition Leica X2 would be the biggest understatement imaginable.

Because Leica’s taken the supremely cool retro X2 – which packs a 16-megapixel sensor and a 24mm f2.8 lens – and clad it in Paul Smith glad rags; a modish mix of bright orange and vibrant yellow trims, the label’s signature colours, to make a subtle style statement.

Only 1,500 of the Paul Smith editions will be made, but if the near-neon colours aren’t taking your fancy, Leica still have you covered – along with the Paul Smith edition, Leica are launching the X2 a la carte programme which lets you choose your colours and textures for a truly unique camera.

Both will be available next month, but for the eye-watering price of £2,000, you might want to start saving now.

Visit the Leica website for more information.

Topman's new tailoring collection is seriously cool (and pretty easy on the purse strings).

Stylish tailoring at high street prices? Yes, please! Topman has just announced three new premium suit ranges for this coming season, which will focus on fabric, rather than the cut, to create suave styles.

The first collection, Harris Tweed, has taught us that you don’t need fancy cuts or colours to create fantastic suiting, as Prince of Wales checks, Houndstooth, and flecked explorer jackets all maintain an air of tradition by tapping into the heritage trend.

Made in England, the second sitting, mixes traditional fabrics and details with modern shapes and bold colours – all made in Blighty, of course. Bright hues and contrast details make the herringbone blazers really stand out.

Finally, the Super Premium line uses Italian fabrics to create a luxurious collection that focuses on details to add a high end flair. It’s slick, modern, and perfect for the young professional.

Some of the items are already available in store, with more being added in October. And the best news? Prices start at an affordable £50 for a waistcoat, and reach up to £200 for an overcoat, which means you could snap yourself a three-piece for £270 – really not bad at all.

Everyone's fantasised about working in a park on those sweltering summer days, no? Well, your wish is KANZ's command.

While most people who work on the go don’t need to resort to a desk, some might, and the biggest issue aside portability is power to keep your office gadget essentials running. The KANZ Field Power Desk offers a solution here: it’s a portable workstation with its own power to keep your devices juiced.

The barbecue-esque desk contains both GoalZero lithium ion batteries and solar panels. While the batteries last for six hours, if its a sunny day, you could work in the garden indefinitely – something we could’ve done with during the random heat waves we had in the last couple of months.

Made from Baltic birch and Marine-grade aluminium, the desk weighs in at a respectable 17kg, though we wouldn’t like to be carrying it for too long. Plus, it’s customisable – you can add satellite internet, lights, speakers, extension cables, and extra power packs — if you’re willing to shell out some extra cash and don’t mind the weight.

With the basic model priced at £1,600, we’re not sure its entirely economically viable, but still, a nice thought nonetheless for lazy summer afternoons.

Visit the KANZ website for more information.

Urwerk isn't content with making amazingly cool timepieces, it's also determined to whip you into shape.

Innovative Swiss luxury brand Urwerk have been hard at work to bring us their latest time piece, the UR-210. Visually, it takes cues from Urwerk’s older models, though it has a handy new feature that might get you moving.

“Winding Efficiency Indicator” sounds innocuous enough, maybe even a bit futuristic, but really it’s Urwerk’s latest way to show you just how much of a layabout you are. Oh goody.

In automatic mechanical watches, your movement is transformed into energy to power the watch. The aforementioned indicator is coupled to the power reserve display and measures the amount of power you are generating every two hours. That information is then displayed as an average on an indicator bar that goes from a healthy green to red if you’ve spent the day sofa surfing. Yeah, maybe it’s time to go for a jog.

Not content with humiliating you, the UR-210 will also whip you into shape. There’s a selecting on the back which lets you choose how sensitive the rotor is – the tighter the setting, the more you’re going to have to shake some booty to get charge. Who needs the gym, anyway?

The watch functions seem a bit secondary, but it utilises the same satellite display as in previous Urwerk devices. The case is made from steel and titanium, and is just over 43mm wide, so it’s cool looking and sturdy – always a bonus for your workout equipment.

Sure, it’s not cheap at around £91,000, but you can’t put a price on good health or good style – or can you?

First Tom Ford, now Alexander McQueen - this January's LC:M is looking good!

Despite showing in Milan for the last eight years, Alexander McQueen announced this morning that it’ll be bringing its men’s collection home to London for AW13. It’s the latest brand to confirm that it’ll be showing off its latest offering at the next London Collections: MEN in January. And needless to say, we’re pretty stoked.

“It’s great to be showing our menswear main line as part of London Collections: Men, especially with London being the home of Alexander McQueen and our first dedicated menswear store opening on Savile Row this autumn,” said McQueen chief executive Jonathan Akeroyd.

McQueen is the second big brand that’s got on board for next year’s show – Tom Ford announced its intention to show in London back in July. The provisional schedule will be unveiled next month, so keep your ears to the ground.

London Collections: Men will run from 7th – 9th January 2013.

Back to school can be cool, you know. Inject some young fun into your wardrobe with these throw-back accessories.

It’s the end of the summer holidays, and whether you’re still a student, or you’re just returning to work from a much needed break, that back to school feeling is hard to shake. But before you back into a well-practiced routine, you can still spruce up your wardrobe with a few youthful accessories.

Break out the backpack for a weekend out and about. Not only are they practical, the right one can look quite stylish indeed. If you’re looking for something a little more business, then grab a school satchel – they’re youthful, cool, but won’t look out of place with a suit.

Baseball caps are also having a resurgence. From Acne to Lanvin, the sporty accessory was all over the AW12 runways, and they should probably be in your wardrobe too – so long as you can carry one off with aplomb. The trick is to not look like a cast member of Saved By The Bell, and instead opt for simple, sleek styles that’ll add a cool edge to your weekend wardrobe.

Inspired? Head on over to our Back To School Accessories Scrapbook for our favourite playground pieces.

Get instant photos from your iPhone with this Kickstarter project.

No matter how amazing photography gets, there’s something about the Polaroid that keeps us coming back time and time again. If only there were some way to get instant photos from our phones. Well, the Impossible Instant Lab aims to do just that, and with some seriously cool results.

While Instagram does its best to recreate vintage shots, the Instant Lab will add a natural, unique vintage effect to all your photos. Your phone sits in a cradle on top which lines up your phone’s display to the Instant Lab’s camera. An app controls the calculations, so there’s no tricky dials to fiddle with, and helps you print the perfect instant picture.

Sure, it’s not the simplest way to get a vintage feel on your photos, or the easiest way to print off pictures from your smartphone, but once you’re done you’ll have an authentic Polaroid photo with all the random elements that result.

It’s currently looking for funding on Kickstarter, and already has over 1,100 backers in just a few days. To get your hands on one, you’ll have to pledge $229 (aprox £145) and wait until next February at the earliest, but that’s a small price to pay to bridge your smartphone photography and your love of instant photos.

Work may not have a dress code, but that doesn't mean you can stick on any old clothes. Here's our guide to looking slick in the office this season.

Workwear has changed a lot since the days of suits and shoes. Casual Friday somehow slipped into casual everyday, so it’s not uncommon to see a guy in a slogan t-shirt and flip flops in Soho. But just because you can wear weekend clothes everyday of the week – at least in some jobs – it doesn’t mean you should give up being professionally groomed.

The trick is making your clothes work for you – blazers, chinos, cords, brogues, and monk straps will all turn heads and garner respect from colleagues and bosses alike. It’s a style that works whether you’re a creative or a cubical worker, and looks good in a meeting without being as monotonous as a sea of suits.

Wool and tweed blazers will keep you warm on a chilly day, and if it’s especially cold come winter, you might want to upgrade your shirt to a polo neck for a smart alternative.

Pocket squares, optical glasses, and briefcases are the professional accessories of choice – backpacks should be left in your childhood (or at home, at least). And when it comes to shoes, a slick pair of brash, brown brogues is a failsafe option – but we’re championing royal blue and navy style as a fresher option for the new season.

As always, we’ve got a fantastic Ultimate Workwear Scrapbook teaming with stylish garbs that’ll make your bosses take note.

Physical books are redundant, right? Think again. This amazing high-tech design has us thinking that print could have a revival.

There’s a lot of people out there that think technology has killed the book. Physical books have given way to their electronic counterpart and using one feels, well, somewhat old fashioned – but that doesn’t mean they have to stay like that.

Elektrobiblioteka (try saying that after a few) by Waldek Wegrzyn actually lets you take control of your computer with a book. While you can’t navigate around your standard desktop with one, the book allows you to interact with its corresponding program. Sure, it’s limited, but it has potential.

It’s still a prototype right now (only thee books exist in the world!), but it’s a pretty quirky idea. Imagine being able to hook up your favourite magazine to the computer, and with a tap see it transform on the computer screen. Imagine being able to tap on adverts and be taken straight to the website. It’s like a digital pop-up book, and we love it.

If there’s something that infuriates us more than business men smacking us over the noggin with their bulging backpacks on the tube into the office we haven’t found it yet. We love rucksacks for the weekend, but it’s time commuters left them at home.

Of course, you can’t not take a bag, considering the sheer amount of stuff you need to haul to and from the office every day. You need to find yourself something more suitable. No, we’re not talking about attaché cases – it’s not the ’80s any more – but satchels, soft leather briefcases, and totes are ideal for squeezing all your stuff in 9-5.

Still haven’t found one that matches your style? Check out our favourites in the Work Bags Scrapbook.

It would have been tricky to miss the influx of burgundy last autumn, and it seems we’ve acquired a taste

It would have been tricky to miss the influx of burgundy last autumn, and it seems we’ve acquired a taste for the boozy hue again. This time, though, we’re supplementing our wardrobe with more vibrant shades of red. From rose to ruby, cardinal to crimson, it’s the colour of the season.

Of course, red works great with black (duh), greens, and blues, so easing it into your clothing collection shouldn’t be too much of a feat. Our top tip? Pick one key piece in the statement shade and keep the rest of your outfit relatively neutral – this isn’t Santa dress up, after all. And if you’re just looking to add a splash of colour to your outfit, then a pair of red shoes will do the trick.

If you’re on red alert and need to get your mitts on this season’s hottest trend, then, as always, our Red Scrapbook has the answer to your prayers.

1. Etro slim fit trouser, £199.00, Farfetch, 2. Canterbury Mitchell gilet, £115.00, John Lewis, 3.
Fashionable men were out in droves last night for GQ's Men of The Year Awards. Here's some of our favourite looks...

It was the guys turn to show their sartorial stuff last night as men of note – from actors to atheletes – were out in force at the Royal Opera House for this year’s GQ Men Of The Year Awards. The red carpet was awash with fashion-favouring lads, but there were a handful that really stood out from the crowd. Check out our favourites below.

Fashionably Framed

Whether you’re a traditionalist or a go-getter, a pair of specs have a value beyond their price tag. Keeping it cool and classic, Rob Brydon relied on a great cut to match his simple frames, while Tinie Tempah opted for a rakishly modern jacket matched with a large, floppy bow tie against his directional specs.

How Low Can A Three-Piece Go?

Some guys get the luck and the looks. Two such characters are Stella McCartney’s husband Alasdhair Willis (naturally), and the golden footed Jamie Redknapp. Not only did they stand out from the crowd with their cut-away waistcoats, they both sported beautiful women on their arms. It’s alright for some, eh?

Rules Were Made To Be Broken

The theme of the year may have been black tie, but that didn’t stop designer Thomas Heatherwick and Tour de France champ Bradley Wiggins stepping away from tradition. Heatherwick ditched the suit altogether for a more laid-back but suitably stylish look, while Bradley Wiggins has mod-ified the dress code for a Prince of Wales suit that checks all our boxes.

Like to keep your look fresh and new, but don't have much wardrobe space left? Stone Island's transforming 30/30 jacket is the solution.

We like to get our money’s worth from our wardrobe, and with winter just around the corner, Stone Island’s 30/30 jacket is looking pretty appealing. Thanks to a reversible liner and changeable shell, it can be configured in 30 different ways (don’t worry – it comes with instructions), making it the only jacket you’ll need this season – even if you want a different look for every day of the month.

Experimental dyeing and printing technologies let Stone Island create truly unique garments, and the 30/30 jacket is no different. It’s an amalgamation of all Stone Island’s biggest and best innovations, including a material list that wouldn’t go amiss in a sci-fi – though it’s stuffed with good ol’ fashioned goose down to keep you warm whatever the weather.

The catch? At £1,575 it can’t really be called cheap, but when you consider that’s only £52.50 per jacket variation, it becomes a lot more appealing.

We took a trip east side to Shoreditch's renowned 1234 festival. See what we got up to...

This weekend saw the return of Shoreditch’s 1234 Festival. We were there camera in hand and trousers rolled up to the nines to try and get a sense of the day’s style, play around on some dodgems, and listen to some of the freshest music around at the moment (and the Buzzcocks, who we think are now approaching their 576th birthday).

We arrived on Saturday, fresh-faced and ready to party, but the first thing we noticed wasn’t the fanfare (or the funfair) – it was the sheer societal mix in attendance, from Art-Rocker-reading post-indie kids to niche-dance-music appreciators (don’t dare call them ravers!) via aging but intense punks. Interesting, indeed. Despite what you may expect of this audience, though, the crowd were friendly and certainly up for having fun.

As we danced away to the various electronic bleeps of Lapalux in the Streets of Beige tent, it was brilliant to make out a fifty year old – replete with epic Mohican – getting thoroughly into the groove. Next up, the Art Rocker stage to hear Black Moth’s consummate noisiness, where we bumped into just about everyone en-route, from an off-duty burlesque dancer to two grimy-looking grunge girls who, when asked if we could take a picture for our street style, ran off shouting “WE HATE FASHION”. We’re not sure if they’d confused the word ‘fashion’ for ‘having a bath’ but whatevs, each to their own.

Later in the evening we saw the Buzzcocks get the whole crowd pogo-ing, and then went off to be amazed by Claro Intelecto (our musical highlight of the festival) – but our abiding memory will be how exciting it was to hear a lot of bands we’d never heard of. And naturally, we spent the next day tracking down every song religiously on Spotify.

If you want to go to a festival full of music that you will be listening to after, rather than tracks you used to listen to five years ago, then 1234 festival is a must for 2013.

Check out the cool guys we snapped here (and, um, the girls too).

Small apartment? Space conscious? Lover of cool designs? Boxetti's transforming furniture might just be the collection for you.

Transforming furniture is seriously cool, FYI, so we were pretty pumped about the Boxetti collection – a whole home’s worth of folding, fashionable furniture. A sofa that becomes a table, a kitchen unit that folds away into a tiny box, and a bed that’s also your wardrobe – are you as excited as us?

It’s designed on three basic principles – functionality, advanced technology, and contemporary aesthetic – by Latvian Rolands Landsbergs, with the idea of achieving maximum efficiency from each piece. It’s a novel idea indeed, but we’re positively intrigued by the possibilites. Why not turn your sofa into removable blocks of tables when the occasion suits, or tuck away your kitchen unit when things are looking a little cluttered?

Well, other than the lack of practicality – imagine asking a date to help you get out your sofa, or fumbling with your fridge to get a glass of water in the night – the Boxetti collection’s not exactly cheap, with prices starting from around £4,400. Still, maybe that’s the price you pay for the epitome of modern living.

Headphones that turn the volume down when you move? Yep, the Listen Carefully headphones by Slow Listening are a thing.

There’s a lot in life we could do without – bad tube etiquette (take your bag off if if you’re standing up, dude), slow walkers, horizontal rain, and the baffling rise to prominence of Ed Sheeran – but there’s one thing we do that can shoo most of them out of our minds: listen to music, quite loudly, on headphones. Ideally, loudly enough that, if we’re in the mood, we just pretend we’re in music videos (yeah, really). But the folk at Slow Listening have come up with a concept that, if applied correctly, should ruin that little oasis of calm – the Listen Carefully headphones.

Look at that name – who knew headphones could be so patronising? Just wait ’til you wear them. The concept behind their creation is that people don’t pay enough attention to music anymore because we’re all too busy, so they’ve incorporated an accelerometer that, should you dare to move while your tunes are playing, drops the volume down until you sit still and focus again.

Something we should clarify here: someone actually thinks this is a good idea. A good idea that tells you how to listen to your own music, corrects you if you do it differently, and won’t let you hear it if it senses you’re doing something else – shock horror – at the same time. Hey, dancing feet – woe betides you if you fancy a little boogie. And you over there with your mug of tea? Yeah, stop drinking.

Luckily, the Listen Carefully headphones are still at concept stage – so not commercially available yet – but should you find the thought of headphones that won’t work if you move inspiring, you can find out more information at slowlistening.com.

The collaboration between the British design giants is almost here. Catch a peek of what to expect when the collection launches this Saturday, 1st September.

This Saturday, Paul Smith will launch its highly-awaited collaboration with John Lobb. Highly-awaited, you understand, because for fans of brilliant British footwear, this is the partnership of dreams.

The pair have teamed up on a capsule collection of shoes that fuse Lobb’s traditional quality boot-making skills with Smith’s playful, cutting edge style. And the result? Well, it’s really rather good.

There are three styles: the Westbourne, a classic Oxford shoe with punched brogue detailing at the toe; the Willoughby, a simple derby in colourful cashmere suede; and the the Lucca, a lightweight loafer in calf suede with a contrasting leather trim. All are available in a host of popping hues – purple, green, blue, red – as well as a more wearable grey and brown, though we suspect the brights will be just as popular as the basics.

The collection launches in select Paul Smith and John Lobb stores this Saturday, 1st September, and if you want to stand any sort of chance of snapping up a pair, we suggest you set an alarm on your phone now. We’re bagsying the Willoughby in green, by the way.

The weather can't make up its mind, but it's ok - the lightweight jacket's our seasonal hero. From bombers to army shirts, here's our pick of the best.

We’ve gotten to that awkward time of year. It’s not cold enough for a full-on wool coat, but it’s getting a little too cool in the evenings to forego a layer completely – and, well, our weather is at best unpredictable. You need to meet it in the middle, it seems. And the best way of doing that? With a lightweight jacket.

Dressing for the rain is inevitable, and when spouts of sun can crop up at any minute – next week, apparently – your choice of jacket needs to be practical, lightweight, and above all else, easy to whip on and off again. This is where the light jacket steps into its own. It’s easy, breezy, stylish, and best of all, it’ll fit in your bag as well as it does on your back.

And yeah, even though it’s sunny outside right now, we have every reason to feel pessimistic about the weather (just you wait until it pours this afternoon). So we’ve hunted out our favourite throw-ons that’ll see you through ’til winter come rain or shine (or both, probably).

From cool cotton bombers to urban army shirts, see them all here in our Lightweight Jackets Scrapbook.

The king of expensive suits is turning his hand to a more affordable diffusion line for a younger audience: introducing Thom Grey by Thom Browne.

Here’s a Mr Grey you’ll be glad to hear of: Thom Grey, the lower-priced diffusion line from luxury American brand Thom Browne.

If you’re a fashion fan, this will, of course, be music to your ears. For those less acquainted, here’s a quick catch up: Mr Browne is one of the most influential names in menswear (he scooped the 2010 Most Influential Designer in Menswear Award at WGSN’s Global Fashion Awards as proof), and his signature cropped suits are some of the finest examples of modern men’s tailoring.

Here’s something else you should know – they’ll usually set you back around £2,000. So consider a similar-style suit from Thom Grey, the new diffusion line, costing around £800 somewhat of a bargain (we kid, prices are clearly still incredibly high, but comparatively speaking and all, you’re getting a deal).

Also on offer from Browne’s new venture is a host of cool varsity jackets, classic Oxford shirts, trousers and knits – those waspy wardrobe essentials aimed at a younger audience (albeit one who has significant spare change at the end of the month).

Thom Grey launches exclusively at Harrods in the UK and Barneys in the US this October, which gives you just enough time to start saving.

The Pebble watch was pretty awesome, but it could never be described as subtle. Don’t get us wrong, we’re all for wearing our love for technology on our sleeves, but we also have an obligation to style and elegance that the Pebble couldn’t satisfy. Enter the next smartwatch contender – Martian Watches.

Looking for funding on Kickstarter - where else? - Martian Watches have moved away from the Pebble’s touch-based design to look for a simpler solution: voice command in an executive-style watch. That’s right, you can fulfil all your Dick Tracy fantasies by talking to your mobile directly from your wrist.

Connect it to your iPhone or Android handset via Bluetooth to start barking commands through the noise-cancelling microphone a la Siri – pretty useful when your phone is buried in your backpack, or whilst driving. And when you’re not using it, you don’t have to worry about compromising your style. Perfect.

Autumn's not quite arrived, but the new season wears are already in stores. Here's what you can snap up now.

Seriously, Mother Nature, what’s the deal with the weather? We’ve had a week of summer only to be forecast with downpours for Notting Hill Carnival over the bank holiday weekend! Not cool. Still, the shops are already awash with new season wears that’ll do you well for weather and style.

With sudden cool spells (or heat waves, for that matter) always a threat, keeping a lightweight knit at hand is a must. If you’re looking to add a bit of kitsch-cool to your look, take a leaf out of Burberry or Jil Sander‘s book and opt for one of AW12′s key pieces – the novelty animal sweater.

And with the weather closing in, you can bet your suit collection that you’ll need an easy-wearing coat pretty soon, too. Tailored styles are being championed by Prada et al this season, so we recommend a sturdy trench to stay on trend and dry whatever you’re wearing.

Also needing an update: footwear. Move away from your moccasins and move into a pair of leather boots. The military appeal of Grenson’s smart brogue stompers are perfect for injecting quite cool into your current wardrobe, and they’ll be a godsend come winter.

From separates to shoes and everything in between, all you need to start sprinkling your wardrobe with next season essentials is present and correct in our New Season Scrapbook.
