Title Updates

We've updated the release schedule through the end of the year, and all print titles listed are already available for preorder!

Of note (and what you've all been waiting for) is the release of Ten Count V6 in December of 2018...

...as well as our two new series, Escape Journey and Coyote.

And last but not least, and one that may come as a suprise, Shiuko Kano's Punch Up! is back! V5 is slated to release April of 2019 and will contain 1.5 volumes worth of material–all Punch Up! chapters through Act 16, a whopping 242 pages of smut!

Title Announcement 8/3/17

In honor of our 801 Day celebrations this week, we've been holding back on announcing one of our new titles until right now.

We're super excited to announce that we've licensed Noboru Takatsuki's newest work, Risou no Are, Sagashitemasu, which we've titled Looking for the Perfect Fit. This is a digital-only release and will be available for purchase on September 26, 2017.

In my opinion, Oku-san's Daily Fantasies is one of the funniest titles, if not the funniest we have, and I don't think Noboru Takatsuki's newest work will disappoint!

Pricing Change

Hello, everybody!

It’s been over five years since SuBLime released its very first digital title right here on the SuBLime site (Devil’s Honey on 2/14/12!), and over these last five years, we’ve been able to maintain the pricing on our digital manga at a very low $5.99, which is less than 50% of the print price—a percentage that is lower than industry average. However, the time has now come for us to raise the $5.99 digital price point so it is more in line with what makes financial sense for us. As of 8/14/17, we will increase our $5.99 digital price point by $1.00 to $6.99 (all other price points will remain unchanged at this time).

We’ve always taken a stance of transparency with our readers, which is why we’re giving you a full 30 days to continue enjoying that lower $5.99 pricing. And because our success has only been possible with your support, we’re going to further sweeten the pot by running a three-day digital sale here on the site starting August 1^st (801 Day!) so you can snap up any $5.99 books you’ve been eyeing and get them at an even lower price of $4.99!

Big news!

Hello, everyone!

You may have heard recently that Japan’s Libre Inc. has made some changes to their English-language publishing arrangements. Many of you have reached out to us asking about future plans for Libre titles, while others have said some very nice things about SuBLime in the various forum discussions that have taken place. We’ve heard you all, and we thank you not only for your kind words and continued support but also for being so patient while you wait for updates.

Now to get to what you’re really here for! (I read your posts. I’m no fool! :D) Overwhelmingly, you have voiced your concern for Ayano Yamane’s Finder series, and SuBLime, Libre, and Sensei herself have heard you. We’re absolutely thrilled to tell you that SuBLime will indeed take over the publishing of the Finder series! And just so you don’t have to wait for the newest volume that is set to release in Japan, we’ve all agreed that we should release that volume first!

SuBLime has secured both print and digital rights for Finder and will release volume 8 in March of 2017. We will then rerelease the prior volumes, starting with volume 1 on May of 2017, continuing with a new volume every other month thereafter.

We’re also excited to announce that Yamane Sensei, along with her publisher Tokuma Shoten Publishing Co., has also given us the go ahead to release her Crimson Spell series digitally! The release date for these volumes will be forthcoming. (EDIT: To clarify, this means that all of Crimson Spell will have both a print and digital version.)

As for the rest of Libre’s catalogue of titles, we will be taking a look through what series remain unfinished. Although we wish we could rescue everything for you, that simply isn’t feasible. Feel free to mention in comments any series you feel should be top for consideration (remember that this is only for Libre Publishing titles). If we do decide to rescue any other titles, we’ll make an announcement at that time. Please understand that we cannot comment on rescue possibilities.

I would like to give a big thank you to Libre and to Sensei for working so quickly on this matter, allowing us to make this announcement in record time. And thank you, everyone, for your continued support! It’s because of you that we have been able to establish such great relationships with our Japanese partners, and we hope you’re as thrilled as we over this exciting announcement.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to see if I can pry all these guys off of each other long enough to get production started. ;-)

The World's Greatest First Love Schedule Change

Hello, everyone! This is Jennifer LeBlanc here at SuBLime. We just want to give you an update about the release schedule for The World’s Greatest First Love and some changes that will be happening.

First, let me give you a little background so you can better understand why these changes will be occurring. As you may or may not know, when a publisher licenses a book from Japan, there are certain parts of the book we need to send to the Japanese publisher and mangaka for approval (the cover, color pinup, credits page, etc.). Until those items are approved, we cannot send the book to the printers.

This brings me to The World’s Greatest First Love. The approvals process is no different for this series and Sensei (Shungiku Nakamura) must review all of the above-mentioned parts of the book. Unfortunately, Sensei’s current schedule is making it too difficult for her and for us to meet an every-other-month release schedule. Going forward, what we must do is wait for Sensei to approve the volume and then do what we call a schedule “drop in,” which we will start doing with V3 (V2 is unaffected).

What is a drop in? When we have a situation such as this one where we do not have a way to schedule the release dates ahead of time, then we must drop each volume into the release schedule as they are ready. Since this will affect volumes three through five, we will have to pull the current preorders down from retail sites, and that will cancel all existing preorders for those specific volumes. This is something that is out of our control as retailers will not allow us to keep a book up for preorder that does not have a set release date.

Here is the current status of the volumes we are working on:

Volume 2 is approved by Sensei and will release July 14^th. Preorders for this volume will not be affected.

Volume 3 is currently with Sensei for approval. As soon as she approves the volume we will schedule it for publication and inform everyone of the new release date. All future volumes will be submitted for approval and scheduled in this manner.

Please rest assured that we’re doing our best to bring you these books in a timely manner. Thank you for your understanding, and if you have any questions please feel free to ask them in comments below.

Now Available Digitally!

As announced on 801 Day via social media, we now have digital rights to Yaya Sakuragi's Bond of Dreams, Bond of Love and Hide and Seek series. Downloadable PDFs of all volumes of both series are now available here on the SuBLime site.

Within the next two weeks, both series will be available for purchase on e-tailers like Kindle, Nook, and Kobo. As they are made available, we will update the book's page with the e-tailer's link in the "Where to Buy" box under "Digital Edition."

As I said on Facebook, this is a really big deal for us and the manga industry. It shows that when readers like you are responsible with our downloadable PDFs Japanese publishers notice. Let's keep this positive, forward momentum going and see what else we can get done! :-)

New Title Announcement!

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and if that's true, then this cover picture is worth a thousand squees! SuBLime is proud to announce that we have acquired the English-language rights for all eight volumes of Shungiku Nakamura's famed Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi!

Our English title will be The World's Greatest First Love: The Case of Ritsu Onodera, and we will release volume one in print February 2015 (there are currently no digital rights available for this title). Subsequent releases will be every other month thereafter (bimonthly).

Synopsis: "Tired of accusations that family connections got him his current position, Ritsu Onodera quits his job as an editor at his father's company and transfers to Marukawa Publishing. Once there, he is assigned to the shojo manga editorial department—something he has no interest in and no experience with! Having sworn he'd never fall in love again, the last thing he wants to do is work on love stories. To make matters worse, it turns out that his overbearing boss, Masamune Takano, is actually his first love from high school!"

You asked for it and we delivered! It's been a long time coming, but we finally have a shopping cart!

Let's go through some of the changes. Now when you visit the site, you'll notice that some books have an "Add to Cart" button by them while others don't (see below). Only digital books will have an "Add to Cart" button as those are the only books we sell directly through our site. All other books are print only and can be purchased via the retailer links provided.

Once you click "Add to Cart," magical bishie fairies will tenderly carry your book to your shopping cart located here (highlighted in yellow):

When you are ready to check out, click the shopping cart icon and you should see a screen that looks like this with all the books you have chosen:

From here it should be pretty easy to finish the transaction. However, if you do run into issues, email us at info@sublimemanga.com and we'll get it taken care of!

We’re happy to announce that SuBLime is available globally on Kobo! As of the date of this post, we have 58 titles available for purchase. Each title's individual page on the SuBLime website has already been updated with their own Kobo buy link.

As a reminder, the SuBLime website still offers and will continue to offer downloadable PDFs of each book that can also be added to any Kobo or other device that can read a PDF. We Need Your Help...

A few days ago, we were notified that a certain party on LiveJournal was looking for a new translator for their scanlation of Crimson Spell (yes, we do know who it is, but this isn’t about calling that person out). I can’t tell you how disheartening it is for us to see such a request being made when it is known that SuBLime is providing a legal English-language translation for yaoi fans to enjoy.

Is it possible this person is just completely unaware? Maybe. This is why we are appealing to our readers and to loyal yaoi fans everywhere who want to support this struggling industry. When you, the fans, requested that SuBLime rescue Crimson Spell and similar titles like Embracing Love, we listened and we did. We want to be able not only to continue doing so, but also to continue releasing the newest volumes of these series as they come out. I’m sure I don’t need to tell you how difficult that becomes when certain members of the yaoi fandom ignore our pleas and continue to scanlate these titles for reasons unknown.

Please support us and our legal, creator-approved versions of these titles, and please, when you see such behavior, reach out to these individuals and groups so they understand the damage they are doing to the yaoi industry. It is not our desire to take legal action, but if it continues, it is something we will be forced to do.

The wait is finally over! SuBLime is happy to announce that we have licensed the first four volumes of the Crimson Spell series by famed mangaka Ayano Yamane! This is a license rescue as the first two volumes were released in English by another publisher.

The individual volumes will be released on the following dates:

Volume 1 - December of 2013

Volume 2 - February of 2014

Volume 3 - April of 2014

Volume 4 - June of 2014

This will be released as a print-only title. There are no digital rights available for this title at this time.

About Sharing SuBLime Content...

It pains me to even have to write this post, but I must. As some of you may already be aware, yesterday one of the readers of SuBLime's books illegally uploaded said book to a scanlation aggregator site. Let me be very clear, this is illegal to do and there will be consequences for such actions. I am not going to discuss what site and please do not do so in the comments or I will have to delete your comments. That's not what this is about.

First, I would like to thank the readers who informed me immediately that this happened and the many readers on the aggregator site that were also appalled by this and came to SuBLime's defense. You are greatly appreciated by us and also by fellow yaoi fans who do not wish to see us discontinue our download-to-own PDF option.

I have made it very clear from the start that if fans abuse the system and do this that we would stop making this available. Please understand the consequences of this. This doesn't just prevent us from doing it, it also makes the Japanese publishers less interesting in letting any manga publisher do this. Do not punish the fans of this genre or any genre through your actions.

Now, as for the consequences I mentioned above. If you do this, we will suspend your account and you will lose all access to your purchased books. Can we do this? Yes. It is in our Terms of Use:

Japan is a copyright holder of their material and so are we.

What other consequences? If you like visiting your scanlation aggregator sites and wish to see them continue, bringing them to the attention of a publisher that has a legal department is not a good idea. We can go after the entire site for illegal content. Do we want to do this? No. We want to publish our books for our fans and not deal with this at all, but in order to do that we have to make money from the sales of our books to pay for the licensing, the printing, and not to mention to provide financial support to the many employees and freelancers who work so hard to bring these books to you.

This is not a thread for debate. These are our policies. Please respect and understand that when you purchase a book from SuBLime and upload it for all to see that you are breaking the law.

And now I'm going to end this on a happier note. I can honestly say that 99% of the fandom that have purchased our books have been absolute wonderful in not only respecting the above but also policing others who may not be. You are why we do this! Continue to be the wonderful people you are as you are the ones giving us the financial support we need to stay open and bring you the best yaoi we can from Japan. :-) Thank you!

SuBLime is now on NOOK!

It has been a long time coming (snerk), but SuBLime is finally available globally on NOOK color and tablet devices! Currenly all of our digital releases (41 of them) are up for preorder on Barnes & Noble's NOOK web site. At the time of this post, NOOK is offering them at a preorder price of $5.09, but the standard retail price is still $5.99. All 41 titles will be available on April 15th. You can find a complete list of available titles here. Each title's individual page on the SuBLime website will also be updated with their own NOOK buy link over the next few business days.

As a reminder, the SuBLime website still offers and will continue to offer downloadable PDFs of each book that can also be added to any NOOK device as well as to any device that can read a PDF. There is no region restriction, and each is $5.99. There is no limit to the number of devices or computers you put your PDF on, or for how many times you wish to download it. New Simultaneous Manga/Novel Project!

From Rieko Yoshihara, author of the acclaimed Ai no Kusabi—The Space Between, comes a unique and exciting new project!

Into Illusion is a new boys' love serial that will consist of two parts: a novel chapter, written by Rieko Yoshihara, and a manga chapter, created in collaboration with artist Ryo Tateishi. Embracing Love Announcement

Regretfully, we have to announce that we will be pushing back the release date of Embracing Love V1 from April of 2013 to August of 2013. This is due to production issues that delayed the delivery of materials for the revised edition of the work. As a result, we had to push the release date out so we have enough time to create an English-language edition that meets the standard of quality that we think our readers deserve. Thank you all for your understanding, and believe me when I say we are as bummed as you are. :-) However, with our 1-year anniversary tomorrow, we hope to make it up to you a little with some great new title announcements and some other goodies yet to be announced!

Happy 801 Day!

It's 801 Day! I found the boys over at Yebisu Graphics celebrating, so while they were distracted I was able to sneak a few of their goodies to give away today [and some dirty pics, but those are for me]. ;-) In case you're wondering why today is 801 Day or what that even means, here's a quick explanation:

Today is August 1st, or as we write it here in the U.S., 8/01. Still don't get the excitement? Here's a little blurb from Wiki to explain: "Another term for yaoi is 801. '801' can be read as yaoi in the following form: the 'short' reading of the number 8 is 'ya', 0 can be read as 'o' – a western influence, while the short reading for 1 is 'i'."

How to download our books!

Hey everyone!

I recently did a poll asking about our download process, and there were a few people who were unfamiliar with how it works. It seemed like as good a time as any to put together a little instructional post for you. As an incentive, I've also included a FREE download of a sampling of many of our books so you can give it a try for yourself! [179 pages of yummy boys' love goodness!]

I suppose we should start with what kind of file the books are availalbe as. All of our eBooks are in a PDF format. [You can also read the book in the online manga viewer, but more on that in a second.]

In order to read a PDF on your computer, you need a program to open it. Most of you are already familiar with Adobe Reader, but if you are not it is a free program that reads PDF files. Feel free to download it here.

If you don't wish to read it on your computer, you can also read PDFs on many handheld devices like the Kindle, Nook, iPhone, and iPad as well as many of the other available eReaders out there.

Really the process is as easy as 1, 2, 3!

1. Log in to your account [red circle below].

2. Chose either PayPal or Amazon as your purchase method and complete the purchase [red box below].

3. Click the purple "View your purchase as: Download-to-own PDF" button in the red box below. The large blue box is the manga viewer, which is your second option for viewing your digital purchase. This screen shot is exactly what you will see upon a successful purchase.

That's it! If you'd like to try downloading a test PDF to see how it works, feel free to click the purple button below, which will take you to Mediafire where you can download the PDF to your computer. [Please note that all actual SuBLime books download directly from the SuBLime website, and not Mediafire] This PDF contains a FREE sample from 15 of our titles [179 pages!], so you can also see the quality of the books we provide.

If you're wondering just how to get the PDF onto your Kindle, Nook, iPhone, iPad or other handheld device, here are some options:

1. The first option is to "side load" the content to your device. All this means is that you connect your device to your computer using the USB cord it came with, go into "My Computer", find your device, and add the PDF to your device there.

2. The second option is to use a free software called Dropbox. Many of the handheld devices have apps that support Dropbox including:

Nook Color & Tablet
Android
Blackberry

Plus Dropbox will sync with your computer and all devices, so once you load the file onto Dropbox, you can read it on your computer, iPad, Nook and whatever other device you have Dropbox installed on. I use it to sync my computer and my Nook Tablet and it's wonderful. :-)

Animate Titles Now Available

As some of you have already noticed, we have a few of Animate’s direct-to-Kindle titles on our site for purchase, and as of today have made an additional ten available.

For those of you who may not be familiar with Animate’s direct-to-Kindle releases, many are titles that were already released in English by other U.S. publishers and whose rights have reverted back to the Japanese publisher. Animate has made those English-language releases available once again via the Kindle platform. They have also gone a step further by publishing a few of their titles directly into English without the use of an English-language publisher.

All titles placed on our site that are from Animate will have Animate’s cover and will also contain a note at the beginning of the synopsis that further clarifies what you are purchasing. In addition, they will be available for purchase in the standard SuBLime format of a downloadable PDF and for viewing in the site's manga viewer.

Two New Title Announcements!

We have another two new title announcements for you today! Our first title is Bond of Dreams, Bond of Love (Yume Musubi Koi Musubi) by Yaya Sakuragi. Volume One is set to release in print only in August of 2012, with subsequent volumes releasing quarterly. We currently do not have the rights to publish digital editions for this series, but it’s something we’re working on for the future.

New Title: Yebisu Celebrities

SuBLime is very happy to announce a new addition to their digital only release schedule -- Yebisu Celebrities V1, V2 and V3! Volume one will be released March of 2012, volume two June of 2012 and volume three Sepember of 2012. Synopsis and cover will be up on the site after the holiday break.
