As I'm photographing the September Home 2012 trend book for Bloomingdale's these last two weeks I remembered this little gem. Here's a nifty little montage from our photo shoot in June 2011 of style bloggers Marisa Marcantonio, Eddie Ross, Michele Adams, and Jennifer Boles. Each designer was commissioned to style a room using products from Ralph Lauren and Bloomingdale's and asked to contribute home styling tips to consumers. Produced and photographed by Tim Moxley and Christian Torres, editing by Christian.

I'm fortunate to have Your Dekalb Farmer's Market in close proximity to my studio in Atlanta. I sent Jaemin out to pickup an octopus for us to test with and here is the result.

Art appreciation and photography demonstration at GGC by tmox

noreply@blogger.com (tmox) — Mon, 04 Oct 2010 15:01:00 +0000

I went down to Georgia Gwinnett College to give a photography demonstration to a few art appreciation classes for my friend Carolina. I'm comfortable teaching to students who are already following a photographic course of study but this was my first time in a while teaching to students who aren't generally interested in art. I was a little nervous at first when my thumb drive was not recognized by the GGC institutional windows setup. So much for putting together a slide presentation! I was able to adjust my presentation on the fly, I mostly spoke about my influences in pictorialism and the photo secession movement since I knew they had covered that material already but I also spoke about the new topographic movement and how important it has been to my aesthetic. I showed examples of my personal and commercial work and talked about the camera obscura and demonstrated the principles using my 4x5 view camera while Christian setup my lights. I took a few portraits of the students using Fuji 4x5 instant film and scanned them later at the studio. Hopefully the students like the portraits enough for FB!!

Thanks Bloomingdale's!

noreply@blogger.com (tmox) — Thu, 30 Sep 2010 19:10:00 +0000

Total gratitude to B2 Creative and Bloomingdale's for the great Fall trend book that dropped this month. I'm really stoked how everything looks, great concept, design, and photography(if I do say so myself!)

Here's a few spreads I'm particularly proud of!

I broke out my 4x5 the other day to show Christian. I snapped a few portraits using Fuji's instant film which I can't stop calling Polaroid.

California 2010

noreply@blogger.com (tmox) — Fri, 16 Apr 2010 15:59:00 +0000

I was in California last week with my family. Here are a few photos I took while we were out and about exploring between Los Angeles and San Diego. San Diego was beautiful and the people were super cool. Los Angeles was beautiful in a special kind of way and the people were too cool for school. We had a fun, relaxing time and now I'm ready to get back to work!

Each cork has a story to tell...

noreply@blogger.com (tmox) — Wed, 14 Apr 2010 18:42:00 +0000

We used Amy Weaver's cork collection as a prop for a few wine glass shots for Bloomies. I took these quick edits because I got really into the design and texture of the corks. I love the blush colored staining on the ends as well. Makes me want to drink more wine, for the corks of course.

Remember what your mattress looks like?

noreply@blogger.com (tmox) — Wed, 03 Mar 2010 21:00:00 +0000

Mattresses can sometimes be awkward to photograph. At their essence they are an object of utility, not exactly a show piece in the home. Most of us only see our mattress for 5 minutes or so every now and then while we change the linens. However, manufacturers put a lot of thought into the aesthetics of their mattresses and it's my job to showcase that design in an interesting way. For me it's all about showing the texture of the stitching and tufting, that says comfort. Below are a few of my mattress photographs from previous projects that I'm particularly proud of.

Urban Architecture Class - Decatur, GA

noreply@blogger.com (tmox) — Fri, 26 Feb 2010 20:02:00 +0000

I made these photographs while walking around with my Creative Circus students during the golden hours last Saturday in our little enclave Decatur, GA. Their assignment was to photograph local architecture using available light sources. Everyone had a great time exploring parking garages, MARTA, and other structures and the light was great. We all agreed to post our favorites on the class blog Students of Light Here are my contributions.

Quick Edit...

noreply@blogger.com (tmox) — Tue, 09 Feb 2010 20:07:00 +0000

This is a quick edit that I made from an interesting little slice of a much larger shot. I dropped the fill to make it moodier and help bring up the textures. I'm particularly into the agave plant, I love that shape.
