Justin said it best after we wrapped up, he said that was a very humbling DJ experience, realizing how hard we worked for these mixes playing the music we played as we came up. There's a little beat wrangling tonight, our sync buttons were broke ;) Lots of great tunes, some real gems from the era where if you called yourself a DJ you had to own vinyl records. I have to take a second out to thank you all for the support over the years, I know some of you remember when we didn't even have a website and went for 3 hours with Masta Grimes in the mix. We have come a long way, but it's still my favorite part of the week. One of the trusty sites I favored was www.djpassion.co.uk which let you host mixes for the affordable price of free, but also had a social aspect to the website. Late one night I found myself listening to one of Mr. Lee's Dj mixes, and not being able to pump it as loud as I would have liked (too late to bump it) I vented my frustration in a comment and since then we have kept in touch. I ended up with 84 different songs and was trying to wittle it down to 20 or so. Needless to day I had a nervous breakdown and just decided to go pick up Justin. Upon picking Justin up I saw him in the same state of disarray I was sorting thru all this great music and not wanting to leave any of it out. Well we only went for 3 and a half hours and we decided to just switch off every couple records and try and feed off eachother. Unfortunately I didn't fit all 84 of my records on this mix and I know Justin had to omit a bunch as well. However I feel we portrayed a large cross section of our favorite tunes all across the board. Justin and I haven't been in the studio together much lately so it was nice to try and piece this mix together. I hope you enjoy and I want to personally thank all of our awesome fans for the support over the last 4 years and we look forward to next year as we have some ideas on how to have some awesome themed nights and special mix nights. Today 12-3-12 is the 4 year anniversary of the inception of your favorite DJ house mix show. It all started after 3 DJ's were tired of mixing records (and getting ridiculed) at a heavy metal bar night we dubbed "Ruin Your Night Wednesdays". The name came about cause we basically ruined the lonely hillbilly drinkers nights with house music. So after a couple of months of that and the said metal bar going under for tax evasion :p we took to the internet. The show was originally going to be called "Truffle Shuffle Radio" but after thinking we would get sued we changed it the moniker you know it as today. I hope you enjoy this first episode, we were a little bit more nerdy with our commentary and I think it's hilarious. Also the old shows were longer back then, in addition to Justin Reis and myself (pre Perezident days) we had Kris Grimes rockin with us on the 1's and 2's. I'll be posting these classic mixes from time to time. The timing was just too perfect as I realized it's been 4 years I've been recording the show exactly to the day. Our live show is always subject to mishaps, vinyl skipping, laptops crashing, Internet going out. This week was the first week on our new 4 turntable setup and funny enough we didn't even use the 2 new ones, cause we had so many good tunes that we wanted to play for ya digitally. Yeah we use a laptop/traktor/control vinyl but really the laptop is there just to play the song. Me and justin have no understading of the software other than how to hook it up and how to make the song we want to play come out of the turntable/channel we want it to. No sync button, no cue points just awesome new tunes playing on some dummy vinyl. But some nights all of us DJ's who don't rely on the sync button have an off night...I think this was one such episode. If you can deal with a little imperfection (it wasn't all terrible :p ) I played some cool new promos from Aspect Audio, Tequilla Trax LLama recordings and some new stuff from DJ Zuko (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Zuko/55882538541) Leads off and ends my portion of the mix. 2nd hour is ran by Justin Reis playing some deep techno and progressive tunes ending off with some Hybrid tracks that will blow your mind. My very good friends had me out to play some records and to host the very first live SUBherbAN House Party. I have to say... as a DJ I've experienced nothing like it but that's coming from a dude who's DJ'd in his bedroom since 2002 :P So much love was shown to me and I appreciate every single one of ya that came out that night. I owe alot of thanks to my good friend NrKoTic (1/3 of The Fractured Minds) and my 801 fam who not only set the show up, they put me up in their house, fed me breakfast, showed me the sights in SLC and drove my drunk ass around. So far so good, right? Well my intention was to record the whole show and put up the whole nights worth of sets.
