Just The Stone Roses and The Smiths to go now in the list of ‘ultimate reunions demanded by hundreds’.

After a bloody age we reconvened to record some talking in a flat and then played some records. It’s been frustrating not to be doing the pod as often as we would have liked but life and circumstance dictated against that and despite the fact our listeners are few, I really enjoy this little waste of time twice a month. It’s given me a new impetus to listen to lots of new music and also gives me a chance to hear what Tom’s liking. Obviously it also gives me a chance to shout at Tom. A man of his age and social standing should really know better.

So coming at you is a whole hunk of music – some real gems involved and some mumbling chat as standard.

IX – A Bleak Nine Minutes

So after a few weeks of doing many different things we dusted off the mics for Sub Dogs IX. It was lovely to step back into the recording studio (bedroom) and play some songs for each other. Due to same failed software and some overindulgence we were as boozed up as an early Sub Dogs. I think it was fun though.

Please tell your pals about the pod and also look out for our Primavera special coming out in the next week or so.

Also ignore the end, Tom stole my catchphrase as my face was filled with prawn crackers. It won’t happen again.

The end of glorious bank holiday brought us back to record the latest Suburban Dogs. A pot of tea was on hand as we recorded with one eye on the big promotion match up of Tom’s beloved Portsmouth versus Norwich City.

It turned it to quite a joyful affair all in all and we had a lot of fun putting it together. There’s a lot of great tunes for you to sink your teeth into and by teeth I mean ears. It’s a long podcast but it’s a good podcast! Honest!

Suburban Dogs VII is another hit packed fun filled adventure….or something like that. It had been over two weeks since we last met in our bedroom studio and we had loads and loads to play. Some careful selection later and we had the 12 songs below that are waiting for you.

Contrary to how this sounds, this is the first podcast Pete did totally 100% beer free and sober. It turns out, he is even more annoying sober.

Recorded on a lovely evening in Manchester, we had a race against time as the amazing Ducktails were playing in town that night. I say this every time but I think this is our best effort yet. Producer Wilko always demands a fine balance between cold hard facts and warm fun banter and I think we have hit a fine equilibrium this time around. The songs are also pretty bloody good.

Podcast V?! What the what?! We are as shocked as you that we are here still but this is possibly our best yet. It was a slightly fragmented recording as Tom kept using the phrase ‘smash it’ like some sort of Sky Sports presenter. The filth merchant.

In a true sign that it’s Easter soon I ate a Cadbury’s Cream Egg during Tom’s remix. It was delicious.

So as Manchester had it’s first beautiful day of the year, three beautiful men met in a flat to play some beautiful songs. Having not seen each other for a good while, we spent much of our evening chomping down Wine Gums and catching up, we then found a bit of time for an amazing podcast. We hope the Podcast finds you well and you enjoy what’s on offer.Of course we also found time to introduce a brand new feature to Sub Dogs. It’s probably our best yet. III – It’s A Band And It’s A Suggestion

So for the third time we gathered in our makeshift studio in Manchester’s hip Northern Quarter to record Suburban Dogs. Pete and Tom had just got back from seeing Clare Maguire at Manchester Academy and were in high spirits as we pilled some Birdseye Chicken Dippers in the oven and cracked open a couple of Gents Stellas.

As ever, we introduced more features than a one hour podcast will ever need… ‘Producer Wilko’s Song Of The Pod’ & ‘Pete’s Song He Just Found So He’s Literally Had No Time To Google Any Information About The Band’ will surely both go down in broadcast history.

Long term fans of the Pod will be relieved that our Future Modern Day Classic, Album Club (Stevie Wonder – Talking Book FYI) and Tom’s Remix features are still the foundations of Suburban Dogs.

II – The First Podcast

After a new year spent exclusively drinking Rusty Nails, we finally got through our fuzzy heads to sit down and record the second ever Sub Dogs Pod. It meant we could role out a couple of exciting features.

Firstly, a Future Modern Day Classic where we go overboard about a new song claiming, with all sincerity, that this song will be the first song played on man’s arrival on Mars.

We also launch Album Club which is a random album (chosen at random) from Tom’s Big Book of Albums To Hear Before You Die. We listen to it, pick a favourite track and then find some inane facts on Wikipedia about it.

Long term Suburban Dogs fans will also be delighted that Tom’s Remix O’ The Podcast is back.

Besides that it’s a pod of HITS! Honestly, we are very pleased with it.

Suburban Dogs is a musical podcast recorded by a bunch of idiots in a flat in Manchester. It’s fueled by bad recording software, continental lager and a firm belief that a good song is better than anything. We also like football, vimto and drinking ale in new pubs.

The first podcast sees us go through our favourite songs of 2010 as a succulent taster of what to expect in the future. Needless to say, the recording quality will certainly improve as we work out how to actually operate our shiny new recording software. Enjoy the show.
