When Graeme Pearson was made redundant, he had little doubt the stockmarket could provide him with the lifestyle he desired. The former engineer was slow to start, but looking back today, he has no regrets.
I was born in Tamworth and lived there until I moved to Newcastle to attend University. After completing my degree in Mechanical Engineering, I worked in the coal, construction and manufacturing industries.
I moved into trading to give me more control over my life and my finances. This was all spurred on by being made redundant in 1999 while I was working in the coal industry. From that point on I was committed to finding a way to supplement or replace my income so that I was never again in the situation where somebody else had control over my life.
I chose the stockmarket as my vehicle to grow my wealth as I saw it as more accessible than property at the time. My first introduction to the share market was through an advisory service. This was a great way to get started in the stockmarket as it allowed me to learn about trading while I made some money along the way. This, however, was not what I was looking for to give me more control, as I was still relying on being provided with what shares to buy and sell and the returns weren’t that great.

The other issue was that a couple of the stocks recommended continued to decline and some went into administration. So my search continued for a better solution. At this stage you might say that I became a bit of a seminar junkie trying to find a better way to make money on the stockmarket which filled my criteria of being:

In control of the decision making process.

Profitable – at least double what a bank would give me.

Time efficient to allow me to fit it around my fulltime

employment.

Convenient training which didn’t require me to travel.

Reliable and consistent.

I went to many free or budget introductory nights of many educators in the stock market and it wasn’t until 2003, while attending a money expo in Sydney that I found the system that was right for me. I chose Trading Edge as their trading system met all my criteria and after attending their introductory night I analysed some charts based on what had been presented and it proved to be profitable.

I really can’t remember it being difficult and I guess that makes me realise how far I have progressed because I am sure at the time it would have been a little scary getting involved in something new. Hopefully that gives some people out there who are just starting out the confidence to push through those initial fears as they become quite insignificant as time goes on.

I think my first trade was Patrick Group and from memory I got my analysis wrong and it ended up being a losing trade. There was probably a little bit of experimentation in the early days until I came to realise that most losses in trading occurred when I didn’t follow the rules. This seems to be a lesson most people need to learn themselves and can sometimes be an expensive lesson. That just shows you that you don’t need to get everything exactly right to succeed at something. Just assess what you did well and what you could have done better then readjust and keep persisting.
I have progressed through various levels of trading through the courses I have attended at Trading Edge. From the Home Study Course then Advanced Trading Techniques and then Platinum Super Traders.

It has probably taken me up to a year after each course to become proficient at it.

The big difference was made however when I started getting my psychology or mindset right. Something that David Schirmer taught me was that methodology without mindset is not much use at all. This is what I experienced with my trading. Just using methodology alone I was trading okay but I hadn’t replaced my income from my job. It wasn’t

until I attended a seminar called ‘The Science of Getting Rich’ that my results really began to turn around.
My trading results for the year following that event surpassed my income four times over which then allowed me to quit fulltime employment and become a professional trader. W.D.Gann and Jessie Livermore who were a couple of the world’s greatest traders were also continual students of the mind and their own psychology.
I think that I have been successful because I had the strong desire to be in control of my life, I was persistent in pursuing my goal and I continually work on my mindset or psychology.

Trading has given me the control that I was seeking after I was made redundant and has now placed me in a position where that will never happen again. It has allowed me to start living the lifestyle I desire as I have only just begun to scratch the surface of the things I want in my life. I enjoy the outdoors and trading has allowed me the flexibility to take leisurely daily walks with my dog when I please.

Trading has allowed us to take many trips throughout the year to various places around Australia and on average the last couple of years spent six to eight weeks away from home. My wife and I love to ski and we have at least one holiday in the snow each year. Trading has allowed us great flexibility. Natalie, my wife, wanted to pursue a career interstate last year and I was almost able to unplug my laptop and say ‘Let’s go’. Trading has allowed me to pursue things that I get fulfillment from such as my new business as a trading coach.

I love the challenge of trading, but I get real satisfaction out of sharing my knowledge and helping people succeed with their trading, through my new coaching business, Your Trading Solutions.

The more folks struggle to make money, the further away from money they seem to get… Dr Robert Anthony explains.

Think about what happens when you struggle – you are in a state of resistance. You resist the state of allowing. So what would happen if you were in a state of acceptance or allowing, and had a continual flow of money and riches in your life? Doesn’t that sound better than struggling to get rich?

And the flow can be mastered. You have the ability to create an unending flow of riches into your life. It begins by creating a new relationship with money, and feeling gratitude for the financial riches and spiritual riches in your life. It doesn’t matter what your current financial situation is, you need to feel gratitude for all that you truly have, so that you can attract and manifest more things in your life to feel gratitude for.

What is being rich, anyway?
Let’s talk for a moment about what it really means to be rich. Most people perceive wealth or riches as the ability to be financially secure.

However, true riches offer an even greater benefit than financial security. Imagine doing what you want, when you want, with whom you want, where you want, for as long as you want, without ever having to answer to anyone. A person who is truly rich knows they are truly rich when they have achieved the most valuable asset of all: personal freedom.
Let me ask you a question. How would you know if you were ‘rich’?
That may seem like a stupid question. You would probably reply, “I would know if I was rich if I had no bills, or I had a lot of money in the bank, or had income producing investments or business, or I could buy whatever I want without having to go into debt.” If you gave any of the above answers you would be partially correct. This is how I define true wealth – having the complete freedom to live life on my own terms.

When I did not understand the principle of personal freedom, I focused on money. I wanted money, and I wanted lots of it! That was my goal. And because we get what we focus on,
I attracted more money. But then one day I realised that what
I really wanted was the freedom to live life on my terms.
First, it’s important to know when people see how I live
and conduct my business, they often say that, “It’s easy for you, you earn a lot of money, you’re famous, you’ve got a huge demand for your books, training programs, etc.” But they miss the point. I purposely designed my life this way when I had no money. This was my dream. This was my intention.

Living this way is the basis of what I teach in my books, audio programs, seminars and
personal counselling. What you get in life is determined by what you focus on and the actions you take. In other words, you get the outcome of personal freedom by focusing on it and practicing it. It is both the cause and the effect of the outcome.

I choose freedom to do what I like, when I like, where I like, with whom I like in both my personal life and in my business. For example, I do not carry a mobile phone with me unless I am travelling. When I am at home, which is 90% of the time, I don’t carry one with me. My reasoning is that
I am just not that important that I must annoy everyone who comes into contact with me by constantly and incessantly talking on the phone. If you feel you have to carry a mobile phone with you everywhere and answer every call, you are not free – you are a prisoner.

In addition to not carrying a mobile phone with me, I do not take any unscheduled phone calls. Even my personal coaching clients who pay me tens of thousands of dollars must make advance appointments to talk with me on the phone – and those calls are kept to a minimum because I prefer receiving emails. As a result, today, I work only with people I enjoy working with. No exceptions. If I have
a troublesome client, I fire them!

I live pretty much as I choose. If I want to take a day off to
go out to the races, watch the horses run and have a bet, I do.
If I want to travel anywhere, I do. If I want to be with someone, dine anywhere or go where I want, whenever I want, I do.

My peace of mind and my freedom to live my life on my terms is why I am truly rich. Yet, I want to quickly emphasise, this has nothing to do with the amount of money I earn. This just helps to support my lifestyle of freedom. But here is the point: I created this at a time when I could not afford it. I didn’t wait until I had no money to do it.

It was my core desire. I believe anyone can live this way if they choose. People tell me that because of their circumstances it is not possible for them to do this. I tell them ‘horse pucky’. You can do anything you want if you set your intention and follow through. This is true wealth. You can have it your way regardless of what you do for a living, regardless of the business you’re in, where you live, your current income, wealth or lack thereof, regardless of any variable you can possibly name.

If you will deliberately get in alignment with creating freedom, you can have it! When you are in alignment spiritually, mentally, emotionally, strategically and behaviourally with a lifestyle of personal freedom, you can enjoy the results of your wealth. This is the position you want to get into, quickly.

If you want a lifestyle of total personal freedom, now, then begin developing a Rich Mind Life Strategy. I developed my personal development program to help folks tap into their greatest source of creativity, inspiration and personal power.

The truth is… there is a ‘blueprint’ or ‘life strategy’ that is common to all successful people who have discovered how to master the flow.

The ‘Rich Mind Life Strategy’ is a dynamic approach for attracting an unstoppable flow of riches into your life by replacing the things that don’t work with things that do work and staying that way for the rest of your life.

Like many of the Secret Teachers, I receive a constant stream of emails regarding The Secret DVD and book.
These days it is a combination of, “I just watched The Secret DVD and it is amazing, thank you for your contribution” and “I’ve watched The Secret DVD over and over again, I try to do what it says and nothing has changed. What am I doing wrong?”

There are certainly gaps between The Secret movie and how to apply the Law of Attraction. Many people watch the movie, become all excited about manifesting abundance, think about a life of prosperity, yet never take any action towards achieving it. It’s like sitting at the kitchen table and humming in meditation while expecting money to fall through the ceiling. It may be possible, however we don’t seem to have evolved to that level of manifestation. Let me share a few key steps that you must do to speed up manifesting abundance and prosperity in your life. When I mention abundance and prosperity I mean in all areas of your life: spiritual, mental, physical, social and financial.

Know exactly what you want
The biggest reason people keep falling into poverty or lack abundance and prosperity is they do not have a clear mental image of exactly how they want their lives to be. Most people know what’s wrong and can give you a big long list; some even know how they don’t want their lives to be, but very few know the perfect life they would like to live every day. By another name it is called a Vision. “Where there is no vision, the people perish” (Prov 28:19); perish into the grips of poverty, lack, sickness and fear.

Once we truly understand the mind, its connection with God and our Body, and our mind’s purpose, we can no longer live by focusing on our current circumstances. One of the six faculties of the conscious mind is our imagination. The purpose of our imagination is to be able to create the image of how we want things to be regardless of how our life presently is. The challenge is that for most people their imagination faculty peaks at about eight or nine years old and hasn’t been used much since. By the time we become a teenager we are told to pull our head out of the clouds and be realistic. Most people become really good at imagining how terrible things will be, and then being filled with doubt and worry. We must re-train our imagination, create beautiful pictures of exactly how we want our life to be and then live in that image with faith and peace.

Here are steps to re-focus your mind and
re-train your imagination:

Step 1
To know exactly what you want, take out a pen and paper and write down what is not working in your life. Could your marriage be better? Do you have the money you need to do and buy the things you want? Do you have an illness or are often sick? Are you unhappy? Are you working at a job you hate?

Step 2
Now write on another sheet of paper in present tense exactly how you do want each of those things to be. Don’t just write I want a better relationship, write in detail exactly what you want to do, have and become. For example, I have a loving fulfilled relationship with my husband. We spend time every day together communicating and falling more in love. We enjoy frequent romantic times together. Describe your life exactly how you want it to be.

Step 3
Once you have completed that task, throw away or burn the first list you made of what is not working. You don’t want to read or focus on that ever again.
Step 4
Re-read your new life at least twice a day, when you wake up first thing in the morning and just before you go to sleep at night. Just like a child, pretend that it already is and add emotion to it as if it has already happened. Re-writing your new
life increases clarity, emotion and expectation.

Step 5
Only speak to others about how your new life is. Our words create our world so our confessions or what we speak out about
our circumstances creates our circumstances. If you continually speak to others about what’s going wrong in your life then that is what you attract. Start speaking with excitement about how your new life looks.

Step 6
Have faith … just believe!
Many people just want good things to happen and want abundance and yet doubt about whether it can happen or worry about the worst happening. This is using the law of attraction to create a life that you don’t want as we will always attract what we emotionally focus on. Worry and doubt create the huge emotion of fear.
Step 7
Be expectant and grateful. Expectation propels you into action and draws you closer to your goals. If you really desire something in your life there are certain steps you must take. For example, if you desired to travel to Hawaii for a holiday you would have to decide when you are going, buy a suitcase, inquire about tickets, hotels etc. What do you need to do right now if you truly expect your new life?

Gratitude is the other key ingredient which is often overlooked by people but absolutely essential if you want to attract anything more into your life.

If you are grateful for what you already have and expect more with the faith that you will have it, your life will be filled with a greater abundance that you now cannot comprehend. You must be grateful for your new life as if you already have it!

There are conditions of receiving and that is first of all knowing what you want, asking, and then believing you have it already. In less than 30 days and with very little effort you will completely alter your focus and bounce out of bed every day with the vision of your new life. Your life and circumstances will begin to change and you will see miracles start to unfold.

We each had a bandana covering our nose and mouth to keep us from choking on the dust as we made our way to a small, remote mountain village where we would provide humanitarian support for the villagers’ educational, medical and housing needs. I was tired, grumpy and sore all over. After six hours, the driver stopped the truck, got out and unceremoniously hauled our luggage onto the dusty ground.

“You’ll need to walk the rest of the way,” he said. “It’s another mile, and from here on, the road is too steep and narrow for my truck.” As the truck rattled off, I looked at my 91-pound suitcase with dread. Why had I packed all that unnecessary stuff? Ridiculous. I tried dragging it a few yards up the rough, mountainous trail, but it was hopeless; I wasn’t strong enough. Dusk was falling; what could I do? Everyone else in the group was wrestling with their own bags; no one could help me. But they were managing to make their way up the hill and soon were nearly out of sight. I sat down and spent a couple of minutes fighting down a rising panic. Were there tigers here?

Then a tiny barefoot old woman, her face seamed with wrinkles, came out of the forest and up the road toward me. She approached with a warm smile, picked up my bag and astonishingly hoisted it up onto her head as though it weighed no more than a basket of fruit. Motioning for me to follow, she headed up the hill.

As we ventured up the path together, though we had no language in common, I was struck by the twinkle in her eyes and the simple happiness she exuded. When we reached the top of the mountain I was met with the huge smiles and enthusiastic greetings of her fellow villagers.

For the next two weeks I worked side-by-side with these people, attending to their children, preparing food and helping administer medical care. Like them, I slept on the ground, bathed in the river and drank milk fresh from the cow. To my surprise, I found that this no-frills lifestyle agreed with me.
I felt clear, peaceful and full of energy.

During my stay, I also spent a lot of time observing my mountain hosts. Here were people who had no electricity or running water, living on the bare minimum with no creature comforts. Yet there was a lightness of spirit, a sense of humor and an easy friendliness about them that was remarkable. They were simply happy from the inside out.

Of course, I realised that the villagers’ happiness wasn’t a product of their poverty. During my travels, I’d seen plenty of dirt-poor men, women and children in all corners of the world who were utterly miserable. I’d also met people with every shiny, expensive toy money could buy who were ecstatic about their good fortune – as well as fabulously wealthy folks who were living proof that ‘money can’t buy happiness’.
These experiences reinforced my conviction that happiness isn’t about having everything you’ve ever dreamed of, nor is it simply negating the need for material pleasures in life. It goes deeper than that. What we’re all really looking for is happiness from within that doesn’t depend on external circumstances–the kind I call Happy for No Reason.

In the course of writing my new book, Happy for No Reason, I interviewed scores of experts and happy people all over the world, and delved into the research from the burgeoning field of Positive Psychology, the scientific study of happiness. What I learned was life-changing! We each have a ‘happiness set-point’, that determines our level of happiness. And in the same way that we turn up the thermostat at home to get warm on a chilly day, we can raise our happiness set-point to become happier.

What really makes people happy? It’s a question I’m sure you’ve pondered and one that’s always fascinated me. Everything we do–our relationships, career, shopping, service work – is aimed at making us happy. Yet I’m sure you’ve noticed at times, despite all you do to find happiness, you’re left feeling that something vital is still missing. Or worse, if any of these things do make you happy, you find you’re scared to lose them. Is there a way to cut to the chase – and experience true and lasting happiness that isn’t dependant on external circumstances?

After years studying happiness–interviewing scores of experts and unconditionally happy people, as well as delving into the research from the burgeoning field of Positive Psychology – I sat down one day to review my findings. Suddenly I had a simple, but profound ‘a-ha’: there’s a continuum of happiness:

Unhappy: We all know what this means: anxiety, fatigue, feeling blue or low – your ‘garden-variety’ unhappiness.
This isn’t the same as clinical depression, which dramatically interferes with your ability to live a normal life and for which professional help is absolutely necessary.
Happy for Bad Reason: When people are unhappy, they often try to make themselves feel better by indulging in addictions or behaviours that may feel good in the moment but are ultimately detrimental: drugs, alcohol, excessive sex, ‘retail therapy’, compulsive gambling, over-eating and too much television-watching, to name a few. This kind of ‘happiness’ is hardly happiness at all. It is only a temporary way to numb or escape our unhappiness through fleeting experiences of pleasure.
Happy for Good Reason: This is what people usually mean by happiness: having good relationships, success in our careers, financial security, or using our talents and strengths well. It’s the pleasure we derive from having the healthy things in our lives that we want.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m all for this kind of happiness! It’s just that being Happy for Good Reason depends on the external conditions of our lives – if these conditions change or are lost, our happiness usually goes too. That’s when I realised that
there is one more level on the happiness continuum–Happy for No Reason.

Happy for No Reason: This is true happiness – a neurophysiological state of peace and well-being that isn’t dependent on external circumstances.

Happy for No Reason doesn’t mean grinning like a fool 24/7 or experiencing a superficial high. Happy for No Reason isn’t an emotion. In fact, when you are Happy for No Reason, you can have any emotion – including sadness, fear, anger or hurt–but you still experience that underlying state of peace and well-being.

Most of us focus on being Happy for Good Reason, stringing together as many happy experiences as we can, like beads in a necklace, to create a happy life. We have to spend a lot of time and energy trying to find just the right beads so we can have a ‘happy necklace’.

Being Happy for No Reason, in our necklace analogy, is like having a happy string. No matter what beads we put on our necklace – good, bad or indifferent – our inner experience, which is the string that runs through them all, is happy, creating a happy life.

As it turns out, you can be Happy for No Reason. In fact, it’s the happiness we’ve all been looking for. When you’re Happy for No Reason, it’s not that your life always looks perfect – it’s just that however it looks, you’ll still be happy.

Imagine you don’t have to get richer, thinner, or smarter to be happy. All you have to do is raise your happiness set-point. Yet, how to do that? I set out to find the answer to that question and ended up writing a book. Ultimately, I found that we don’t have to move to a village deep in the Himalayas in order to be happy from the inside out. Being Happy for No Reason is available to you wherever you are and whatever your circumstances because it’s your innermost essence. You don’t have to create it – it’s who you are.

Great fallacies prevail regarding the nature and significance of true charity or generosity. Much so-called charity is done through a sense of obligation and not as an expression of love. The majority of people feel they have contributed to the betterment of humanity when they have given financial aid, which often finds no higher expression than dropping a coin in a panhandler’s cup.

There is also the selfish individual who gives only where the compensation is equal or greater in proportion to the contribution. This type of charity sinks to the level of a business deal designed to promote selfish social gains and self-glorification. The person so indulging rarely sacrifices personal time or energy to do a charitable act for another. That person prefers to feel exclusive and aloof from other people. Too busily absorbed in selfish interests, he or she resents being inconvenienced to assist the needy or the handicapped.
Inevitably the time arrives in each of our lives when we face a difficult situation and must call upon someone else for help. Those who have done no charity will then feel humiliated to ask another to render assistance in time of need. Ignorant of the Law of Generosity, such a person attempts to repay favours in terms of material things he or she has gathered and hoarded. Little does that person realise that the deeds of the Spirit are performed without any thought or hope of gain or reward and cannot be compensated for in material terms. True generosity, as with love, is a quality of the Soul that expresses kindness, beneficence, mercy and tolerance.
When we give from the heart we must also receive from the heart. Thus we establish a balance between giving and receiving and maintain the two sides of our consciousness. Only through an awareness of the value of giving does the consciousness receive its greatest power. People who feel they have fulfilled their obligations by making an appreciable contribution to charity should realise that the mere giving of money is not enough. We should give of ourselves and our love, thus causing our consciousness to grow and expand, enabling it to receive the best our fellow humans have to offer.

We are always dealt with generously when our natures become generous, enabling the Divine to have greater expression through our thoughts and actions. Until we reach the plane where there is free giving and receiving, we cannot be assured lasting security. “He profits most who serves best” becomes a living principle and truth when we give not from our hands but from our hearts. It is a law of spiritual compensation that when we give the world our best, the best comes back to us – often in greater abundance.

Therefore, we follow the Golden Rule and do unto others as we would have them do unto us. However, we must use discretion in exercising generosity. Being too generous often debilitates the will of those we desire to help and interferes with the experience necessary for their growth and progress. At the same time an excess of generosity may deplete our own resources that may be destined to promote other worthy causes. Charity is then misdirected and defeats its own purpose, for people become irresponsible, shiftless and dependent when we absorb all their problems and take on all their burdens.

It requires fine control and discretion never to do for others what they are unwilling to do for themselves. We cannot always compensate for others’ ignorance. Furthermore, it is a violation of Law to be kind to one person at the expense of another.

True giving is wisely directed and helps others to help themselves. The person who merely flings a coin to a panhandler is not expressing true charity. On the contrary, the donor often encourages some vice in the individual to whom he or she gives and this endangers society in general.

To those who do not understand the Law of Generosity, this method of giving merely offers balm to their sympathetic nature or their false sense of duty. True charity is not synonymous with mere giving but is distinguished by discerning service, true helpfulness, kindness and love. We must recognise the great truth that the best and only way to help another is to help oneself, and that poor, neglected individuals need friendliness and understanding more than they need donations.

The mark of true love and service, distinct from the mere pretense for show or personal glory, is that it does not seek praise or publicity. The individual who has the spirit of true service at heart has no desire for commendation and does not boast of good deeds. That person’s reward comes from the knowledge of a deed well done. The joy given to others becomes that person’s greatest joy. His or her whole nature radiates a spirit of love, kindness and generosity, thus unintentionally but irresistibly drawing to themselves a rare and divine praise.

Someone who focuses only on personal interests deprives life of its chief charms. Moreover, that defeats the very objectives the person hopes to attain. The natural world has a law that whatever is of no use or serves no purpose will whither and shrivel up. Likewise, a law of our own being holds that if we contribute nothing to the great body of humanity, if we make ourselves of no use or service to others, then those qualities of our nature that promote the development of our higher self will begin degenerating and disintegrating. Thus we lose the chief charm and happiness of life. Then we live only with a small and stunted self. However, when we project our lives into the service of others, in generosity, kindness and helpfulness, we evolve to a very high plane of existence. Our whole nature will grow and expand, and we will share in the greatest joys of life, our lives becoming rich and beautiful. When we have entered into and taken part in many other lives, as a consequence we share in everyone else’s successes, joys and happiness.

Once we recognise the truth that all are ONE, and that each individual is an integral part of the whole of humanity, then we will strive for the perfection of all people. Just as the imperfect functioning of one bodily organ can impair all function, so in the greater body of humanity when one individual is poor, disheartened or ill, all people in some degree share the suffering. Humanity is created in the image and likeness of God. All of us are the children of God, and therefore all are entitled to share in God’s beneficence and abundance. Each individual is but a channel for the outflow of God’s abundance to bless all humanity. Just as the individual contributes to the enrichment of others, so all humanity contributes to the individual’s well being.

Once we have purged our minds of hatred, fear and their allies and have welcomed into our minds love and its companions, we will recognise that these positive attributes of the Soul bring a peace of mind and an infinite inspiration that clarify the vision until we can see all the
beauties of the earth and recognise humanity’s perfection. Each individual is humanity: the ONE in the many, the many as ONE. As part of humanity, the individual finds the God-given confidence and ability to go forth and carve out a career of divine usefulness.

In accordance with what we give, and the spirit in which it is given, so shall we receive. If we understand and obey the Law of Generosity, Life is bound to give us what we ask. The Law of Compensation forever operates, and we cannot bargain with life on any other terms. Generosity is a quality of love that gives of itself without any expectation of a material reward – the giving that grants true freedom.

The causes are varied and range from domestic abuse to mental illness. Help, however, is never too far away and it is often the case that a leg up, or even a miracle, is proffered by those who have overcome their own pain and hardship.

Joe Vitale was a victim of domestic abuse. He rose from the ashes to become one of the stars of The Secret, a miracle and dream weaver, as well as a best selling author and marketing expert. His next project is Operation Yes (Your Economic Salvation), a masterplan to end homelessness, first in the United States then globally. The plan is to offer information and financial support to those most in need. It will be a free service backed by donations and will hopefully go some way to alleviating existing problems along with those caused recently by the sub-prime crash.
“What I am doing is compiling information and inspiration for people about to lose their home; it is about helping them find a way to bring money in quickly. All of this is going to be free and downloadable at operationyes.com.”

To some the project may seem a little naïve, but as Joe says, “Instead of turning our heads away, I say there has to be a solution to homelessness.” Joe’s strategy is to alleviate poverty using the law of attraction. He says that, “first people should know that they have co-created their immediate experience. It is then a matter of giving them the tools to create the experience in the way they want it to be; to help them take care of the unconscious belief that they deserve to be in this situation and to increase their self esteem so they can welcome a new change in their life.”

Operation YES is a mental as well as financial program. It is vision, a goal, a passion, an experience, an ambitious effort with its footprint in the past and eye to the future.

The makings of a man
IT is prudent when looking at the future to revisit the peaks and troughs of the past. For Joe, childhood meant abuse, low self-esteem and shelter in the world of fantasy literature. Interestingly, it is also from where his interest in personal development, miracles and the law of attraction stems.

“My father was an ex-marine, a prize fighter, a man who was very disciplined and his way of controlling his family was very authoritarian. So I was looking for a way out through books because I didn’t think it was safe to be in the real world. And through this I was trying to understand psychology, philosophy, why this type of abuse was happening to me and why would somebody behave like this. It became about how I could improve, so I didn’t become what I didn’t want to see.”

As a child Joe escaped into the fantasy worlds of Ernest Hemmingway, Shirley Jackson and the Twilight Zone’s Rod Sterling. He was living his own horror story and seeking comfort not only in authors, but also in cuisine. “I was trying to find a safe way to release fear, to release grief and to take care of myself. As a child I was obese almost the entire time, but I always found safety in books and the authors of those books became my best friends.”

Twenty five years later, Joe felt he had finally broken the shackles of his childhood (he is now reconciled with his family), but as he entered out of childhood and into young adulthood, there were other personal matters that he needed to reconcile.

Late in the 1970s, Joe found himself destitute and living on the streets. “Everybody was talking about an oil and gas pipeline in Alaska. If you could get a job working on that you could make a lot of money. My master strategy was to go there, make a lot of money, save it and then leave and go on a sabbatical to do what I really wanted to do, which was write books.”

That’s not the way it panned out. His life savings were in the hands of a loan company that went bankrupt, the owner had committed suicide and Joe had no recourse. He was left homeless on the streets of Dallas, Texas, with no apartment, no car, no job, nor money.

“I didn’t talk about it for almost 20 years,” Joe says of his fall. “And it wasn’t until I was far, far out the other side and now I have books out there and people are asking me about my history that it would pop up every now and then about these years in Dallas. It is a very traumatic, unforgettable experience because your self esteem, self confidence, self image is literally in the pits and pulling yourself out of that – and many people don’t do it – is a full time job.

Joe credits his love for books for saving his skin. Through the abuse and the homelessness, there were always books. “Even when you are penniless, you can go to the library and read books,” he says.

Not only did he immerse himself in fiction, he began to read classic self-development books such as Claude Bristol’s The Magic of Believing and Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich. These books helped him to understand that pulling himself out of the hole into which he was dug was about overcoming the feeling that he was being beaten to death by life.

“Most people feel they have become a victim and they don’t see that they have any power, control or future. They have basically given up. I certainly felt that way; the difference with me is I have always been a reader of books. I am a book-a-holic.”

Understanding and reprogramming were primary objectives for Joe. He read anything he could on success and psychology. “I did have a dream and I did want to be an author and I did want to make my living that way,” he says. Yet at first it was a struggle and he looked at being a magician in the mould of Harry Houdini, an actor like Errol Flynn and even a Clarence Darrow type attorney. Eventually he went into sales.
Intention and attraction
HAD the Alaskan initiative not ended in disaster, Joe may well have fast-tracked his career. It was evident in High School that, in spite of being shy, reserved, afraid of people and hidden in literature, he had a knack for selling. “I was an assistant editor of the sports section and the high school needed to raise money for the newspaper. What we did was go out and sell ad space on the back of the newspaper. I took on the assignment and the obligation to go and sell these ads.”

Evidently, Joe sold more than anybody else. He puts this down to intention. “I believe intention rules the earth. Most of us don’t have intention. Most of us are bounced around by circumstances. Our intentions are usually in rebuttal to something that has occurred to us. So instead of having control of our lives we become victims of our lives. Have intentions for everything. Before you make the next phone call, have an intention. Before you get up in the morning, have an intention. Before you drive down the street, have an intention. Intentions help direct your goals, your energy, your outcomes and your entire experience.”

Intention here seems to be a by-product of the Law of Attraction. Joe’s intention was to sell newspaper ad space to make money to buy books, so that he could fulfil his dream of authoring his own. Yet at this point he knew nothing of the Law of Attraction, even though he was inadvertently living the principles.

He first came across this law through William Atkinson’s Thought Vibration. “I remember reading it and being fascinated by it because he talked about the thoughts you are having are sending out vibrations that attract into life a parallel, comparable quality: person, place, experience, event, all because of thoughts.”

These principles however, were fully explained to Joe 20 years ago when he discovered Jerry and Esther Hicks. The Hicks’ ‘Teachings of Abraham’ philosophy sowed the seeds for what was to become the book The Law of Attraction, one of myriad of the Hicks’ best selling books (Joe would eventually come to write the foreword for Esther’s book Sara).
All those years ago, when Joe was fending for himself on the streets, he was putting out positive vibrations, but one wonders whether he knew he would be one of the stars of a film dealing with this philosophy.

By the time the book and movie, The Secret were topping best-seller lists, Joe had fulfilled his goal to become a best-selling author in his own right. He was known as an expert in marketing, his tome Hypnotic Writing is one of the best-regarded copywriting and marketing books in the world.

“I wondered how famous copywriters like Robert Collier, Claude Hopkins or David Ogilvy take the same words available to me, put them together on a one page advertiser and get people to buy cars or beer or beans. What magic was behind that? I also wondered how authors could take those same words and use them in a way that would make me laugh or cry or cringe or in some way feel something.”

Combining the two thoughts, Joe created Hypnotic Writing, a tool designed to hold people’s attention using words that touch a nerve. It is a form of persuasive, non-fiction communication; story-telling designed to bypass people’s information filters. “You have to keep people reading until they are at the end and have got them to do what you want them to do.”

While Hypnotic Writing was a major success, his first book Zen and the Art of Writing defined his career as an author. Published in 1984, Joe describes the feat as a moment of celebration; the struggling, starving, budding author had a breakthrough, yet it also brought about a fit of depression, when he realised that publishers knew publishing, not marketing. Further personal growth came when he marketed the book himself. He immersed himself in internet marketing, something that was new to the world at the time, but which Joe had the vision to look further into. This self-study was the catalyst for his miraculous turn-around.

“I had to learn marketing because the person that needed it the most was me. I learned copywriting, advertising, publicity, all aspects of getting a book promoted and sold. I did so well at it, that people began to hear about Zen and the Art of Writing and people would call and ask how did you do that and at first I would freely give the advice away, but it dawned on me that is what a consultant does and I could be paid for it.”

It was a snowball effect, one moment of truth attracted another, one small success, led to a bigger one. Not only was he now an author, he was a consultant, speaker, letter writer publicist and marketer and it all stemmed from the ‘failure’ of his publishing firm to properly market his first book.

The snowball effect also led in later years to the formation of his Miracles Coaching Program (www.miraclescoaching.com), where Joe has taught hundreds of people how to use the law of attraction to attract things like new cars, better health, soulmates, relationships, vacations, homes, or whatever their hearts desire.

Joe also produced a second coaching program called Executive Mentoring (www.joevitalementoring.com), where he teaches online and offline marketing techniques and how to take ‘inspired action’ in business. “Taking inspired action is how I went from a dead-end job to owning a company that automatically generates more passive income than I can spend.”

Burning ring of ‘Fire’

IN 1985, Joe started teaching, taking a class at a continuing education facility called Leisure Learning. Only six people attended the first class, but word of mouth soon saw the class fill and ten years later, not only was Joe a success in his own right, he was well on the path to becoming financially secure.
The success of the class was a turning point in his life. He had been a labourer, car salesman, truck driver, taxi driver and even took temp jobs counting screws. He was a self-confessed Guinea Pig, and that is the endearing thing about the man they call ‘Mr Fire’, he doesn’t teach what he doesn’t know, or more specifically hasn’t lived. “When I share a principle with somebody, I will draw on a story to explain it because that is how hypnotic writing works and more often than not those stories are from my past. So all of that has influenced me in a positive way.”

Never did he waver in his belief, that he was a capable man with a capable ambition. “I actually believe in magic and miracles. I believe that every limitation we take for granted can probably be questioned, stretched maybe even dissolved. I am of the opinion that the bigger the dream the better, because it motivates you to take action in a heroic way. My business card has three words on it from 16th century Latin: dare something worthy. The vast majority of us don’t really stretch. People think they are working on themselves and developing themselves, but they are doing it either in baby steps and staying within their own belief paradigm. We must believe that we can dissolve all limits and do things that stagger the rest of the world.”

Miracles are Joe’s forte. “One thing I’ve learned over the years is you need to be ‘clear’ to achieve the results you want. If there are any counter intentions within you, consciously or unconsciously, you will not achieve the results you want. If you do achieve them, it will be temporary and you will lose them.”
To help people gain clarity he set up the website
www.miraclescoaching.com. This is a program that employs miracle coaches to objectively help people overcome their personal roadblocks and see their future clearly. The program has been so successful it has featured on Larry King’s US talk show. Joe’s own miraculous story is something he draws on in the program and it is this story that can sometimes be the miracle cure for other people to overcome their own hardships. Joe also offers a plethora of free articles on miracles, the law of attraction, and marketing on his website located at www.joevitale.com.

That fire affects all who Joe comes into contact with. It blossomed with the Attractor Factor, a spiritual tome he wrote directly for his then struggling sister. It came to worldwide visual recognition with The Secret. Joe also recently released a new program called “The Missing Secret” with the Nightingale-Conant Corporation. Yet, he still has a greater purpose, it is to teach people that profundity is borne of mission and that there is a karmic and powerful reason to be successful. “Fear of failure, or of success,” he says, “must be dissolved, so that people can proceed to follow their intentions and goals.”

From abuse to homelessness, to despairing in the fact that his wife is no longer around to enjoy the fruits of his labour, Joe has survived the harshest of situations and come out intact. There is no fear in Joe now, only intention; an intention that can be summed up in one word: YES.

The new sciences – quantum physics and epigenetics – are revolutionizing our understanding of the link between mind and matter, challenging established scientific theories and prompting a complete re-evaluation of life as we have known it.

One of the shining lights to emerge from these new sciences is cellular biologist and best selling author, Bruce Lipton PhD, whose book, The Biology of Belief, was awarded 2006’s Best Science Book of the Year.

Lipton maintains that pivotal to this shift in thinking within the scientific community has been groundbreaking insight into the function of genes.

Lipton: The old vision was that genes are self-actualising (turn on and off). But current data reveals that there is no such thing as an on/off function for a gene because genes are blueprints (plans) to make proteins, which are the building blocks that give shape to the structure.

The significance of this shift in belief is vast in that the original view led to the notion that we are victims of our biology. Whereas the ‘new’ sciences show that we are actually masters of our biology.

The old vision was formulated by Francis Crick, who together with James Watson deciphered the structure of the DNA molecule in 1953. Based on experiments that were taken out of context but supported what he and Watson were thinking, Crick became completely enamoured with the belief that DNA controls life.

Crick came up with what is referred to in literature as the “central dogma’, the belief that DNA rules.

The crucial thing here is that this was only a hypothesis. There was never any scientific validation for it yet we all bought it because a belief already existed that this would be the answer to what controls life so when the data looked like it would fit it was simply assumed that this was right. (Lipton, who taught Cell Biology at the University of Wisconsin’s School of Medicine was one of thousands of lecturers who taught the theory.)

This dogma became so fundamental to modern biology it was practically written in stone. It was the equivalent of science’s Ten Commandments.

In the dogma’s scheme of how life unfolds, DNA perched loftily on top, followed by RNA – the short-lived ‘Xerox’ copy of the DNA. The new understanding of how genes work is that this hypothesis is incorrect because genes are actually blueprints that are read.

Succeed: Read by whom?

Lipton: Exactly. That was the question. Suddenly the emphasis shifted and the issue became, who the heck is reading them?

It transpires that the reader is the mind. So the mind becomes the all-powerful contractor of the body. The mind tells the cells what it anticipates and the cells go into the blueprint – the DNA – and create what the mind is anticipating.

Succeed: So is this giving weight to positive thinking?

Lipton: No.

People hear about ‘positive thinking’ but when they attempt to put it into practice it doesn’t work because there is a step is missing.

The mind runs the biology but the important thing to recognize is that there are two parts to the mind, the conscious and the subconscious, and that there are two very critical factors that distinguish the two parts.

1) When it comes to processing information the subconscious mind is over a million times more powerful than the conscious mind.

2) Neuro scientists have revealed that the conscious mind only operates at best about five percent of the day. Ninety five percent or more of the time (for most people ninety nine percent) we run our lives from the automatic processor, the subconscious mind.

Succeed: Before we continue down this path, is there any hard evidence that the mind is the master controller of the body?

Lipton: It has been statistically established that one third of all medical healings (including surgery) are derived from the placebo effect as opposed to intervention.

This means if someone has an illness and takes a sugar pill under the assumption that it’s a prescribed drug designed to cure the condition, a healing will occur one third of the time.

This is a scientifically established fact, which is taught in medical school and what it says is that perception and belief can instigate healing that occurs innately by the body.

We have all been endowed with an innate healing ability that has been with us since the evolution of our species but from the age of six our brain patterns alter, we start acquiring perceptions about who we are in the world and in the majority of cases our conditioning over-rides this natural ability.

During the first six years of life the brain is in a state of a hypnagogic trance at the level of the EEG (the brain activity) and records experiences of the world, just like a tape recorder.

This is a very important part of nature’s plan for a new participant coming into the community because it allows the dominant program – language, behaviour etc – to be downloaded.

Succeed: Does that mean a child under six has a greater ability to heal itself?

Lipton: Providing it hasn’t been exposed to the belief that it can’t innately heal.

Succeed: Can you go a bit deeper? What exactly are these programs that are imprinted onto our brains?

Lipton: A program is a series of messages to the brain. Through the senses the brain constantly scans the environment. It reads what’s going on in and it puts together associations into larger understandings.

For example you might understand the colour red and the shape of round but initially a tomato is not perceived as a tomato. A tomato is a collection of different stimuli such as taste, texture, appearance..

Succeed: Going back to self-healing, how do we go beyond the negative program that says we can’t heal ourselves?

Lipton: Let me come back to that. I want to add something important.

When an infant is growing up it recognizes that when it gets near what is called ‘water’ its parents get very anxious and imply that this ‘water’ is very dangerous.

So here’s the thing, and this will relate back to our ability to self-heal.

Fact: Every child when it’s born can swim like a dolphin.

If it comes out of the birth canal underwater it is able to swim. We all have built-in an ability to swim. So why do we need to teach children how to swim?

Succeed: Because they have received negative programming.

Lipton: Right, and the negative programming shuts off even a given instinct.

Succeed: Can the same apply to our ability to succeed?

Lipton: Absolutely.

Go back to the child and this time see it with parents who instil into it the program, “I don’t deserve”, which becomes part of its belief system and subconscious programming. Project ahead forty years to when the child is an adult sitting in some tiny office thinking, I don’t understand why I’m in this dead end place with this wretched job. I’m well qualified and I’m smart so why am I here?

Here is where the pieces come together..

This guy is thinking this with the conscious mind that only runs the show five percent of the day but he’s operating from the subconscious mind that’s running the program, “I do not deserve”.

The nature of the mind is to make coherence of the world. So if you have a program that says, I do not deserve, your brain will not let you generate behaviour that contradicts this because it’s nature says it has to be coherent.

Succeed: So how do we get beyond that?

Lipton: The first step is to own the fact that we have two minds and not deny that whatever is occurring in life – failure or success – is related to this fact.

We need to shift the belief that we are victims of circumstances beyond our control.

The two minds work in tandem. If the conscious mind is busy thinking about something the subconscious mind will do whatever task is at hand. But this is the critical thing. It will do it according to the program that was put in there, which is often negative and therefore reduces our abilities.

Conclusion!

If you tell a child its average and that’s the program the child cannot exceed average because the brain will say, this doesn’t make sense. So no matter how hard that child tries it will unconsciously create average.

Succeed: So how do we make friends with our subconscious mind?

Lipton: First recognize it’s there because if you keep thinking the world is against you you’ll keep shooting yourself in the foot.

Until you own that you’re operating from your subconscious mind 95 percent of the time you can’t go to the next level.

Succeed: You recognized the strength of the subconscious mind through kinesiology.

Lipton: Yes. I discovered that when we compete the conscious and the subconscious the subconscious always wins.

VIP Attendees from past abundant life seminars and the two very special Mind and Money Strategies Seminars were given access to a special VIP only Tele-Conference where I cover a range of topics around The Secret To Wealth and what you need to do to make those changes and accelerate the Law of Attraction in your life now.

As a way of sharing the kind of content available if you get committed enough to come to one our seminars I have decided, for one time only, to open the call out to everyone so that if you didn’t …

However – and this is a big however – there are only 96 spots on the call. Now given that there are quite a few VIP’s who attend every call this means that this opportunity will only be available to the very fortunate (or the very quick!) few who book themselves into the last remaining places.
