The company serves more than one million students each year,&lt;br /&gt;with 12,000 employees in approximately 600 locations in more than 30 countries. The&lt;br /&gt;international operations include higher education, professional training, test preparation&lt;br /&gt;and language instruction in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Australia and Africa.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;The Challenge&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;While the company has dramatically expanded the breadth of their business, it has&lt;br /&gt;remained student-focused, results-driven and committed to helping individuals reach&lt;br /&gt;their goals. The software development life cycle (SDLC) needed to improve its quality&lt;br /&gt;and speed up the releases for automating the software testing life cycle (STLC) for&lt;br /&gt;a large number of business applications.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The Client was looking for an automation testing team to maintain the current test&lt;br /&gt;scripts suite and develop new test scripts with the following requirements:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Avoid dependency on subject matter experts&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Facilitate requirement management and change control&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Facilitate maintenance and update of the current test suite&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Speed up the creation and maintenance of the automation suite.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;
The challenges the automation team would face were:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;The Software Applications under test sometimes did not have automation driven test cases, functional test cases or documentation to help the process and the knowledge acquisition.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;The test scripts needed to be created within a tight timeline with no framework available.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;There was a large suite of test scripts created with no scripting standards or quality process.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;The test script building had to be scalable and fast in order to meet end-customer schedule and quality requirements.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;The entire test suite should be able to be executed during a weekly release cycle in several environments, including testing, staging (pre-production) and production.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;The entire automation solution had to start from scratch and be integrated completely with HP-Mercury Quality Center.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;The Solution by Softtek&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Based on the information provided by the Client, Softtek provided five qualified&lt;br /&gt;automated testing engineers in HP-Mercury's Quick Test Pro (QTP) and Quality Center (QC)&lt;br /&gt;to increase Client's testing capacity.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The Softtek automated testing team started a relationship of 1.5 years with this client&lt;br /&gt;having the following responsibilities:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Acquire the proper knowledge of the applications in an effective process.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Develop a training plan to speed up the integration of new elements for the team.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Design and update automation-riven test cases.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Design automation framework (reusable functions libraries) based in a hybrid approach. This test automation framework needed to have the flexibility to grow and adapt to Client's pipeline in the future, as well as minimize the creation/maintenance scripting effort.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Automate the 13 applications in different technologies (web app and Client/server app with Oracle and SQL server).&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Execute and Maintain the automated test script suite.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;
The proposed framework had the following features:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;ol&gt;
&lt;li&gt;The automated test environment must be supportable, debug-able, and have the ability to be monitored for progress and errors.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;There needs to be a detailed log, and a mechanism to debug issues and defects.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Failures must be detected and appropriate notification and defect evidence generated.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;The test execution needs to run unattended and continuously (iterative).&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;When the test is started, all relevant information about the configuration should be gathered. This information should be stored with the test results for archive.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;All information (log results, evidence, debug data) should be logged to a common global repository. This will be used to monitor individual test bed health as well as to gather total test execution times for each test suite.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Each individual test case should also be designated with a pass requirement.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Dependent software components must be available from a common distribution point for everyone to access and be managed in a central repository as part of the solution.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ol&gt;&lt;strong&gt;The Benefits&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In general terms, with the development of a knowledge transfer process, the script&lt;br /&gt;creation process and the framework, the Client was not only able to optimize the budget&lt;br /&gt;and team efforts but also to reduce the costs of their testing life cycle and see an&lt;br /&gt;overall improvement of the development life cycle.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Specifically, the creation of the framework reduced the time and cost involved with the&lt;br /&gt;scripts creation process up to 30 %, as well as reduced the ramp-up of by providing a&lt;br /&gt;steady andcomprehensible process and knowledge transfer.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In addition, those elements permitted to reduced level of skills/experience for the&lt;br /&gt;project, allowing the replacement of senior resources by proficient (intermediate)&lt;br /&gt;resources, which added savings to the project.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The automated test execution process was also benefited since the created frameworks&lt;br /&gt;generated a test suite that was easy to update. 			<description>&lt;div&gt;&lt;h4&gt;&lt;/h4&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Implementation of a Dedicated QA Delivery Center for a Global Retail Company&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The Client&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;One of the largest employers in the world, with presence in 27 countries, the Client is a&lt;br /&gt;publicly traded conglomerate with an outstanding reputation of building highly efficient&lt;br /&gt;supply chains and serving some 200 million customers every week.&lt;strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The Challenge&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;As part of its International growth strategy, the Company required integration cycles&lt;br /&gt;to be done in a more efficient manner, shortening deployment times while improving&lt;br /&gt;the overall quality of the applications being delivered in order to avoid costly issues&lt;br /&gt;during UAT and Production Pilot phases.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The Organization had a mindset that gave priority to development activities and a&lt;br /&gt;severe lack of QA culture, practices and processes, leading to the detection of many&lt;br /&gt;defects during the later phases of the project, which resulted in delays in the Company’s&lt;br /&gt;growth plans.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The goal was to spread the QA culture throughout the Company by partnering with&lt;br /&gt;its Quality Management Office. At the same time, the Client wanted to continue providing&lt;br /&gt;QA &amp;amp; Testing services for on-going and new projects and move towards early defect&lt;br /&gt;detection practices.&lt;strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The Solution by Softtek&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;Leveraging Softtek’s broad experience and taking advantage of our Near Shore® Model,&lt;br /&gt;a QA &amp;amp; Testing framework that included people, processes, methodologies and tools was&lt;br /&gt;defined, integrated and implemented for our Customer under a Managed Services model.&lt;br /&gt;This would serve as the foundation in order to evolve to a Testing Center of Excellence as&lt;br /&gt;the engagement matured.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A tailored QA &amp;amp; Testing process would be required to meet Customer needs. The process&lt;br /&gt;would need to be focused on the implementation of best practices, the creation of&lt;br /&gt;reusable test assets and a solid documentation practice as well as emphasize the&lt;br /&gt;involvement of the QA team early on in the development of the project lifecycle.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In order to achieve governance for the QA &amp;amp; Testing service both at the program and&lt;br /&gt;project level across international integration efforts, a high performance leadership team&lt;br /&gt;was createdto coordinate testing efforts throughout all project phases and act&lt;br /&gt;as a partner for QA counterparts for the Customer.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Two dimensions of the QA evolution were tracked—QA Maturity and QA Footprint—as&lt;br /&gt;spreading QA involvement in the projects while at the same time increasing the level of&lt;br /&gt;QA maturity over time were both critical factors for the success of the engagement.&lt;strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;The implementation of this model enabled our Customer to simultaneously work on&lt;br /&gt;4 different integrations at peak times, while shortening time to market and delivering&lt;br /&gt;reliable, high quality applications to its end users.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The Benefits&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;li&gt;Flexible, scalable model with ability to ramp up and down depending on Customer needs&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Creation of reusable test assets allowing for significant reduction in design time, consistent reuse level of up to 50%&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Implementation of Test Automation for Regression Testing, achieving reductions of up to 90% in execution times.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Defect containment level increased from 40% to 98% prior to UAT execution&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Standard and reusable processes that can be implemented and improved for future new markets implementations&lt;/li&gt;

			<title>Implementation of a Dedicated QA and Testing Team for Insurance Company</title>

Its&lt;br /&gt;portfolio of products and services includes annuities &amp;amp; retirement, banking, life insurance,&lt;br /&gt;dental and health insurance, as well as employee benefit plans, among others.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;The Challenge&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The client acquired a third-party application for managing claims and payments with&lt;br /&gt;the objective of increasing profitability, productivity, flexibility; reducing expenses, and&lt;br /&gt;minimizing overhead costs. Due to the complexity of the application, effective software&lt;br /&gt;quality assurance (QA) was critical to the project’s success.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The nature of the customer’s competitive industry demanded a robust IT partner that could&lt;br /&gt;deliver a flexible solution while adapting to continuous changes within the company. Key&lt;br /&gt;features sought after by the client included fast delivery of solutions, strong knowledge&lt;br /&gt;transfer (KT) processes and a mature testing methodology.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;The Solution&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Softtek ramped up, in four weeks, a dedicated QA team of specialized testing engineers&lt;br /&gt;with knowledge of payment and claims business processes. The Team was allocated&lt;br /&gt;primarily at a Near Shore® location (80%) with an onshore (20%) component at the&lt;br /&gt;client’s site.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The team worked with a mature yet flexible methodology, which covered functional and&lt;br /&gt;end-to-end testing, as well as automated testing. Softtek also coached the client’s test&lt;br /&gt;leaders and managers to promote the QA culture in the organization.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Due to the lack of documentation and functional specification of the previous system,&lt;br /&gt;the client initiated the project by incorporating its subject matter experts (SMEs) into&lt;br /&gt;the QA team.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Softtek’s KT strategy included an intensive training, which was carried out at Softtek’s&lt;br /&gt;nearshore facilities. Training was aimed at increasing understanding of the application’s&lt;br /&gt;business processes and consequently being able to interact more efficiently with SMEs.&lt;br /&gt;The services provided by the QA team included Verifications, Test Planning, Test Analysis,&lt;br /&gt;Test Design, Test Execution, Test Reporting and Test Automation.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;The Benefits&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;

After the initial phase, Softtek optimized the use of nearshore capabilities by increasing from 80% to 98% the allocation of team members at Softtek’s Global Delivery Center in Mexico, fully leveraging the advantages provided by proximity, cultural affinity and strong communication inherent to the Near Shore® model.&lt;/li&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The recent financial crisis and a challenging real estate environment prompted URBI to&amp;nbsp;take a hard look at IT costs. The company looked for ways to reduce legacy software&amp;nbsp;licensing, legacy database, and application maintenance and deployment/infrastructure&amp;nbsp;running costs as well improving applications availability and performance. URBI also&amp;nbsp;needed to implement a new application that could be used to input land and landscape&amp;nbsp;information into their SAP Real Estate application, while modernizing several applications&amp;nbsp;that had become unstable due to new business and technology requirements.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;The Solution by Softtek&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Softtek inventoried the Client's IT environment, including applications, licensing and&amp;nbsp;maintenance, and infrastructure costs. After understanding the environment, Softtek&amp;nbsp;consulted with URBI, recommending modern and best-in-class approaches to its business&amp;nbsp;and IT challenges. The solution included a three-phase approach:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;li&gt;The Transformation landscape: A) Virtualization; B) Database Migration Oracle to&amp;nbsp;SQL Azure; C) Improve the critical application performance within architecture best&amp;nbsp;practices&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;After a successful POC and having achieved the originally estimated cost reductions,&amp;nbsp;the Client decided to transform the application—fully optimized for the cloud—called&amp;nbsp;"NCU," for construction and landscaping, which in turn is fully integrated with the&amp;nbsp;company's SAP infrastructure.&lt;/li&gt;

			<title>Fada Pharma fusiona exitosamente dos de sus empresas a través de la implementación de plataforma de SAP</title>

			<description>&lt;div&gt;&lt;h4&gt;&lt;/h4&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;El Cliente&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Laboratorios Fada Pharma hoy “Laboratorio Internacional Argentino” es una empresa farmacéutica líder en producción, desarrollo y respaldo de productos de calidad al alcance de todos los pacientes con más de 70 años de trayectoria en el mercado. Es una empresa en crecimiento, consolidada en Argentina y con proyección internacional. Son más de 700 empleados quienes componen el equipo Fada Pharma en el desarrollo de medicamentos de alta complejidad.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Bajo estrictas normas de producción y avaladas por importantes certificaciones internacionales sus plantas elaboran productos que son exportados a varios países del mundo.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;El Desafío&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;El cliente tenía la necesidad de migrar a la versión 6.04 de SAP ya que había que fusionar dos de las empresas del grupo: Northia y Fada Pharma, las cuales trabajaban con versiones distintas del sistema, haciendo difícil la consolidación de la información, como así también, la integración -ya que se basaban en módulos del sistema independientes-. El cambio de versión permitiría la optimización de ciertas funcionalidades y la inclusión de mejoras ya que los procesos sobre la vieja versión de SAP hacían necesario recurrir a desarrollos para suplir las diferencias.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Por otra parte, la incorporación de una nueva empresa al grupo hizo necesaria la fusión por absorción del nuevo sistema para así unificarlas contablemente. Dicha fusión requirió optimizar los procesos de negocio en general y así incorporar, sobre la base existente, los datos de la nueva empresa (sobre todo dentro de ventas y distribución) para lograr un modelo de negocio que se adecuara a las necesidades actuales.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;La Solución Implementada&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Se desarrollaron en el cliente dos proyectos consecutivos, el primero fue un Upgrade de la versión R3 4.6c a ERP 6.04 y una fusión por absorción de sociedades.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;El Upgrade comenzó en el mes de diciembre de 2010 y la salida en vivo se produjo en Abril de 2011 tras una semana de soporte y en forma paralela al mismo, se comenzaron con las actividades para el proyecto de fusión finalizando el mismo la primera semana de Agosto de 2011. La cantidad de horas totales aplicadas a ambos proyectos fue de 8036 hs.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ambos fueron desarrollados bajo la metodología propuesta por SAP, metodología ASAP.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Incorporándose durante el upgrade algunas funcionalidades de Solution Manager relacionadas a la Gestión y al Testing. Como consecuencia, se logró una salida en vivo de un Upgrade casi transparente para el usuario y una fusión con un modelo de ventas y distribución optimizado acorde a las necesidades del cliente con un modelo único y adaptado.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Para ambos proyectos, el valor agregado brindado por Softtek fue contar con el know how de los procesos del cliente, tanto de Fada Pharma como de Northia, que dio la oportunidad de obtener beneficios a lo largo del proceso de implementación.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Beneficios&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;

			<title>Roemmers logra reducir sus costos de TI y sus tiempos de ejecución al migrar exitosamente su plataforma SAP</title>

			<description>&lt;div&gt;&lt;h4&gt;&lt;/h4&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;El Cliente&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Roemmers es una empresa líder en el mercado, dentro de la industria de los laboratorios.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Desde hace más de dos décadas ininterrumpidas, mantiene la primera posición en la clasificación de laboratorios nacionales e internacionales.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Roemmers se ha transformado en el laboratorio farmacéutico más grande de la Argentina, liderando el mercado local en volumen de facturación, prescripciones y unidades vendidas, superando así los nombres de las empresas más reconocidas dentro de la farmacéutica mundial.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;El Desafío&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;El cliente debía encontrar un partner que le permitiera formar un equipo de proyecto conformado por recursos internos con alta participación en el proyecto y así poder aprovechar el conocimiento de los procesos funcionales del negocio.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ejecutaban todos sus procesos en SAP versión ERP 4.7 con dos equipos, uno para Roemmers y otro para Rofina (empresa distribuidora de los productos de Laboratorios Roemmers), con un servidor its separado para la prestación de servicios de Rofina Online. Se planteó entonces la necesidad de hacer el upgrade a la versión mas reciente para poder mantener el soporte de SAP y además seguir manteniéndose actualizados.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Para poder ejecutar las actividades requeridas, y acompañar la visión de liderazgo del laboratorio, se tornó imprescindible la migración a la versión SAP ERP ECC 6.0, lo que redundaría en mejoras funcionales, a las que no se podía acceder hasta entonces.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;La Solución Implementada&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Se implementó un cambio de versión desde SAP ERP 4.7 a ECC 6.0&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Se realizó primero el upgrade de desarrollo y se trabajó principalmente con el equipo técnico para realizar todas las adaptaciones por upgrade y pruebas unitarias correspondientes. Una vez finalizado esta etapa, se comenzaron las pruebas funcionales de los procesos, desarrollos e interfases incluidas en el diseño de pruebas.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Se crearon dos instancias pilotos simulando la salida en productivo con los equipos con los que luego se realizaría el upgrade final. La puesta en productivo de la nueva versión de SAP fue muy limpia, transparente para el negocio y no se requirió de apoyo adicional para el soporte de la aplicación.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Roemmers dejó en manos de Softtek la experiencia técnica Basis de upgrade de la nueva versión, y la organización de las tareas técnicas para poder hacerlas en tiempo y forma con la documentación requerida.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Beneficios&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;

Fundada en 1981 por un grupo de jóvenes emprendedores, ha alcanzado un record de más de 370 mil viviendas vendidas hasta el 2010, lo cual en buena parte ha sido posible gracias a su presencia en 37 ciudades y 21 estados a mediados del 2011.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;El modelo de negocios de Urbi se basa en una cadena de valor flexible y eficiente, integrada por dos líneas de negocio: El desarrollo de vivienda y la línea de actividades relacionadas a la vivienda. Su principal mercado es el de Vivienda de Interés Social (VIS) y Vivienda Media-baja (VMb). En 2009 Urbi se constituyó como la primer empresa certificada para la articulación de Desarrollos Urbanos Integrales Sustentables (DUIS), además de obtener los márgenes más altos de la industria.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;UrbiNet, la plataforma de tecnología de información única y UrbiNova, su sistema de construcción propio, son piezas clave en el modelo de negocio de Urbi, habilitan un crecimiento rentable, además de permitir una rápida reacción ante condiciones cambiantes de mercado.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;El Reto&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Uno de los objetivos de Urbi para los próximos años es el consolidar un posicionamiento estratégico como empresa innovadora, maximizando su inversión tecnológica para sustentar una “oferta irresistible” para sus clientes, incrementando su satisfacción y la productividad de su personal.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Uno de los casos clave para el logro de este objetivo, es la generación oportuna de informes mensuales que faciliten la conciliación de los gastos reales de los centros de costos contra lo presupuestado. Esto permite detectar de inmediato posibles desviaciones y, en su caso, dar seguimiento para tomar acciones correctivas por parte de las áreas involucradas.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;div&gt;Anteriormente estos reportes se elaboraban manualmente, empleando hasta cuatro personas en el proceso durante un promedio de 6 días. Para ello, la información debía ser descargada directamente del sistema SAP R/3. Posteriormente la información se analizaba y consolidaba en hojas de cálculo.&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;p&gt;El proceso no solo resultaba oneroso, sino que introducía riesgos por la oportunidad y posibles inconsistencias en la información. Esto llevó al área de TI de Urbi a automatizar el proceso, con el objetivo primario de que los usuarios dedicaran mayor tiempo al análisis y la toma de decisiones, y la reducción de costo del proceso como objetivo secundario.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;La Solución Implementada&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;div&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/strong&gt;Implementación de la herramienta Cognos Versión 8 utilizando como BackEnd SAP BW.&lt;/div&gt;

&lt;div id="_mcePaste"&gt;Se determinó utilizar como base la tecnología SAP BW, que es una combinación de bases de datos y herramientas de administración para soportar el mantenimiento de aplicaciones orientadas a la toma de decisiones. Esta solución provee la infraestructura típica de un data warehouse, pero también incluye extractores pre-configurados, herramientas de análisis, reportes y modelados de negocio.&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;p&gt;El 22 de marzo de 2010 dio inicio el proyecto denominado UrbiNet 3.0.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;A) Aumentar a segurança de acesso às informações estratégicas do BI através da diminuição da criação de planilhas Excel e de maior controle de acesso às informações;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;B) A mudança de cultura: Os projetos de Business Intelligence eram desenvolvidos por uma equipe interna de TI. Agora este processo é parcialmente terceirizado, o que permite ao Mercantil do Brasil novas oportunidades de projetos para atender as reais necessidades de negócio de forma mais rápida.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Solução Implementada&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;Foi implementada os módulos analisys, report e metrics. . Atualmente, essa solução está substituindo todo o data warehouse do Mercantil do Brasil. Futuramente a intenção é a implantação do Cognos 10 e a exploração dos seus recursos preditivos e de mobilidade.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;A solução consistiu em quatro projetos importantes e inovadores que foram escolhidos com o objetivo de fazer grande diferença e causar grande impacto:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;1º Projeto: Visão Executiva do Mercantil do Brasil - utilizado pela presidência e diretoria Executiva - consolida informações de 6 data marts (ativos, passivos, serviços, crédito consignado, provisão e rentabilidade). Por ter sido um projeto muito complexo, foi decidido pelo uso de uma ferramenta que centralizou várias fontes de dados distintas e a utilização do conceito de dashboards. Antigamente essa aplicação da diretoria era formada por 43 planilhas. Essas 43 planilhas foram transformadas em apenas 6 dashboards e 10 relatórios onde os diretores tem um acesso mais rápido as informações.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;2º Projeto: Será implementada uma gestão de desempenho através do BSC. Para isso será utilizada a ferramenta Metrics da IBM Cognos. A proposta é que uma vez implantado o BSC de TI, essa tecnologia seja expandida para as demais áreas do Mercantil do Brasil.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;3º Projeto: Gestão comercial incluindo metas com produção e previsão baseada em algumas regras preditivas.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;4º Projeto: Gestão de clientes com visões de rentabilidade: conquista, perda, estoque, saldo ativo, saldo passivo, evolução histórica, variação de provisão e penetração de produto na base de correntistas.&lt;/p&gt;

Desde a integração ao Sistema Petrobras, a Liquigás consolidou sua liderança no mercado de botijões de 13 kg – os mais usados em residências para o cozimento de alimentos – e sua posição como uma das maiores distribuidoras de GLP no país. Conta atualmente com 3250 funcionários e&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;em 2009, registrou um faturamento bruto de R$ 3,34 bilhões.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;O Desafio&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;Problemas com a extração de relatórios levaram a Liquigás a profissionalizar sua abordagem na ferramenta de Business Intelligence e, assim, também melhorar seus processos decisórios. A empresa utilizava como solução uma versão do Pilot que gerava limitações e dependência da TI para a extração da informação. Limitado, o sistema antigo deixava insatisfação entre as áreas usuárias, haviam 700 relatórios usados que com o tempo ficaram obsoletos, mas não podiam ser descartados.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Além disso, o tempo foi o maior desafio. Entre o início com a instalação da ferramenta e a conclusão do projeto, a companhia previa seis meses de trabalho. O final foi melhor que o esperado e o go live ocorreu sem atrasos.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Solução Implementada&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;Troca da plataforma de BI – Usuária de um sistema de gestão SAP há quatro anos, optou pela ferramenta da Business Objects. Os esforços contemplaram implementação e integração entre SAP BW, SAP BO (7.0) e IBM WebSphere.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;A solução completa – com mais três estágios de implantação – deve abranger 250 usuários (com 30 heavy users) de cinco diretorias e a presidência da Liquigás.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;A Mendes Júnior é uma empresa que atua desde 1953 no mercado de construção pesada no Brasil e no exterior, desenvolvendo projetos nos segmentos de construção rodoviária, ferroviária, metroviária, portuária, hidroelétrica, termoelétrica, petróleo e gás, dutos, saneamento urbano, canais de irrigação e manutenção industrial onshore e offshore.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Alguns projetos de destaque são a Ponte Estaiada Octavio Frias de Oliveira (SP), o Boulevard Arrudas (MG), a Expansão III da Rio Paracatu Mineração, a expansão das refinarias Duque de Caxias (RJ), Gabriel Passos (MG), Alberto Pasqualini (RS) e de Paulínia (SP), a expansão da Linha Verde do Metrô de São Paulo, a manutenção de plataformas da Bacia de Campos (RJ) para a Petrobras, o Gasoduto Cacimbas Catu (BA), o Rodoanel (SP) e o Porto de Maceió (AL).&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;O Desafio&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Até então, essas práticas eram trabalhadas com o uso de planilhas de Excel, o que trazia visíveis prejuízos em termos de retrabalho, produtividade, confiabilidade e segurança das informações.O processo girava periodicamente quase duas centenas de planilhas. Era gastos, em média, cerca de 10 minutos com cada um desses documentos, perdendo um tempo enorme com esse procedimento.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Nesse cenário, além da necessidade de reduzir a carga de trabalho para produzir reports, o grande desafio para o projeto era automatizar o processo de geração das informações, ter uma plataforma única para suportar o processo de gestão de negócios, melhorar a qualidade das análises de desempenho e minimizar o tempo de disponibilização.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Solução Implementada&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Com o objetivo de aprimorar o seu processo de avaliação gerencial mensal, a Mendes Júnior investiu em um projeto de Business Intelligence com a Softtek, que envolveu a implementação da solução Cognos BI 8.3 e Microsoft SSIS para o ETL.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;B) Segunda fase: Para indicadores de Recursos Humanos (Análise de Absenteísmo, Remuneração, • Turnover, Hora Extra e Corpo Funcional).&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Principais Benefícios&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Além de trazer para a Mendes Júnior uma uniformização do Processo de AGM (Avaliação Gerencial Mensal) e qualificação do mesmo processo, visto que foi gerada uma redução expressiva do tempo para consolidação dos indicadores, uma automatização do processo de geração das informações e principalmente a valorização dos processos de análises de desempenho, além de outros benefícios citados pelo cliente como:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;El Reto&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;El plan estratégico de Urbi para los próximos cinco años, tiene entre sus principales objetivos, consolidarse como la empresamás rentable del sector y enfocarse a los segmentos defensivos de la industria de la vivienda del país.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Para soportar las iniciativas de dicho plan, alinearlas con el negocio y obtener un beneficio real, Urbi determinó como base de su estrategia, actualizar y robustecer su plataforma tecnológica SAP, minimizando, en la medida de lo posible, el tiempo,los riesgos y principalmente la percepción del usuario final.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Softtek fue invitado por Urbi a competir, entre otros proveedores, para convertirse en su aliado de negocio. La decisión final se sustentó en la experiencia técnica, de consultoría, en el equipo de respaldo y en la confianza que se generó debido al compromiso y respuesta del equipo de Softtek.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;La Solución de Softtek&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;A finales de 2008, Urbi dio inicio al proyecto denominado Urbinet 2.0, con la migración de la versión SAP ERP 4.6 C a la ECC 6.0, manteniendo la misma funcionalidad, desarrollándose en una fase, siguiendo la metodología de UPGRADE de SAP y guiados por un plan de trabajo, ajustado a las necesidades particulares de Urbi.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Los módulos migrados fueron:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;li&gt;Materiales, Inventarios y Compras (MM)&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Finanzas y Controlling (FI-CO)&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Ventas - Escrituración - Cobranza&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Mantenimiento de Plantas (PM)&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Sistema de Proyectos (PS)&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Considerando las siguientes actividades:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Análisis de los documentos de la implementación.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Investigación y aplicación de correcciones en procesos con problemas de actualización a la versión ECC 6.0.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Adecuación de programas no compatibles con la nueva versión.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Solución de problemas post-upgrade, provenientes de errores funcionales estándar.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Pruebas funcionales, incluyendo monitoreo de resultado de pruebas unitarias e integrales.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Transferencia de conocimiento a los usuarios claves.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Actualización de las base de datos.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Copia heterogénea y homogénea de los ambientes PA-RISC a Integrity IA-64&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Los Beneficios&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Al término del proyecto, en junio de 2009, Urbi contaba con una plataforma tecnológica sólida, actualizada, basada en tecnología SAP eSOA, con procesos de negocio probados en la nueva versión, con un equipo capacitado y trabajando bajo un esquema estándar de soporte.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;La migración permitió corregir errores previos de la plataforma, mejorando su desempeño. Se realizó el cambio de servidor y depuró el número de aplicaciones; se reforzó el esquema de trabajo de la mesa de soporte y se estandarizaron procesos.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;La clave del éxito del proyecto fue la utilización de métodos de acuerdo a un plan, donde se establecieron roles y compromisos, sustentados en pruebas que permitieron minimizar riesgos.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;A Fortune 500, leading global financial Company offering businesses, individuals and institutional Clients a wide range of financial products and services, including retirement and investment services, life and health insurance and banking through a diverse family of financial services companies.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The Client has $270.1 billion in assets under management and serves some 18.2 million customers worldwide from offices in 11 countries throughout Asia, Australia, Europe, Latin America and the United States.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;The Challenge&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;As part of their competitiveness strategy, the Client needed to reduce IT services costs while improving the overall quality of their applications, minimize the failures in production that hampered their brokers and agencies operations, as well as find a way to assure that all new applications did not have quality issues. The QA culture in the Company was not fully integrated across the business and IT areas, and considering the competitive landscape, the Company had little time to evolve their current products, release new ones, as well as be compliant in a highly regulated industry. In addition, due to the dynamism of the environment, the organization was under constant change, thus making a remote work model less feasible, since due to market pressure, cycle times needed to be reduced not extended.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The Firm needed to set up a Testing Centre that would let them:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Increase the reliability of their IT applications to do business.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Adapt to constant change to keep them as leaders in the insurance market.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Constantly renovate and migrate efforts to support a Company-wide QA culture which was being deployed.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Effectively respond to the immediate demands of specific strategic insurance business initiatives for Health, Disabilities, Policies, Claims, Benefits, Marketer Services (Logistics and Distribution Channels) and SOX Compliance.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;The Solution by Softtek&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Softtek defined, tailored and implemented a Dedicated Testing Centre to serve all the QA and testing needs across different businesses and groups from Softtek’s Near Shore® Delivery Centres in Mexico.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;This initiative included a complex Knowledge Management Process and on going maintenance, as well as the development of new products and services for the Customer.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;As part of Softtek’s Test Plan and Strategy, an inclusive methodology of QA was implemented, providing mentoring to the Client’s test leads and managers. Also, change management mechanisms were facilitated by high interaction and real time communication.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The project comprises a team of 50 people, that supports 10 Global Applications, with a steady flow of 1 or 2 modules per application at a time, plus Individual projects which run between 3,000 to 5,000 men/hours each.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;The Benefits&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Overall management of quality of applications.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Significant cost reduction rate due to defect prevention and sustainable production support.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;The Client was able to refocus on delivering value to the business through IT, thanks to higher quality business applications which released valuable resources for new developments.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Improvement of their release cycles for new or renovated products as well as their quality levels.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Softtek implemented a solid documentation policy facilitating future Knowledge Transfer capability.&lt;/li&gt;

&lt;p&gt;With an industry evolving rapidly and competition releasing new and more manageable devices with larger capacity (almost doubling every year), the challenge to release more products faster became a critical part of the overall market plan.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;In addition to that, the Firm needed to keep supporting past versions and upgrading their software accordingly, which made the quality assurance and overall product release a critical component of their business cycle.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Softtek suggested the implementation of a suited testing framework that would enable the Client to:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Make the QA process more efficient; to get the product faster to market with no defects.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Market faster high quality - highly differentiated software for storage solutions.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Develop an efficient Knowledge Transfer process, a critical component, considering the complexity of the technology, limited availability of resources and lack of documentation.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;The Solution by Softtek&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Softtek defined and implemented a Testing Framework that included people, processes,&lt;br /&gt;methodology and tools which were made to size for the Client’s needs. The framework provides a fully automated regression test team, which would fit into their product development life cycle and test over multiple platforms and versions in early phases of the development lifecycle. Also, it brings a mature test strategy for their products, assuring defect detection rates of 99% or more.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Softtek developed an internal and self sufficient Knowledge Transfer strategy program specialized on massive storage devices and drivers knowledge; provided the Near Shore® model through which the team can dynamically be on site and Nearshore when needed.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The project comprises a team of 14 people, and a local test laboratory at Softtek’s facilities in Mexico which included the Client’s manufactured hardware and software components.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;The Benefits&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;The solution, which addressed the first tier of the multi-tier QA strategy implemented by the Client, made the phase managed by Softtek the most effective QA stage, detecting the majority of the defects in the early stages of the product life cycle, thus improving the end product.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;A high defect discovery rate in the early stages of the lifecycle, makes a tremendous impact in the cost of product support for this Client. The earlier the defects are discovered, the higher the cost savings.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Since the solution was implemented, the Client has not reported severe defects released into the final phase, nor to the market versions of its products.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Ability to replicate the Client’s lab in Mexico (Softtek’s Monterrey Global Delivery Centre), which significantly reduced the customer’s indirect costs.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Overall impact of the testing framework translates into faster time-to-market, a better product, at a lower cost.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Overall management and outsourcing program has matured faster due to the nature of the Near Shore® model’s interactivity and flexibility.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Overall customer experience improved for the Client due to high interaction with Softtek.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Adoption of automation culture across the organization.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Successfully automated regression tests, which allowed the Client to use its own experts in higher value functions.&lt;/li&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Money transfer business of one of the largest financial institutions in the world. The client has presence in several states, including California, New York and Texas, serving the Hispanic population in the U.S. with the most advanced technological platform, the highest security standards and top quality service since 1995. Today the company provides services in Mexico, the Caribbean, Central and South America, Europe and Asia.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;The Challenge&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The client was looking for a business partner to enable faster, more reliable and user-friendly transaction processes, while providing a secure environment compliant with industry and government regulations.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Three major areas of focus were:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;li&gt;Develop and maintain applications for back office purposes and external use&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Develop and maintain software interfaces for business partners&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Provide support to both internal users and business partner users&lt;/li&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Complexity was increased, because the scope included the following functional areas: payment agents, internal trading, cash management, risks, accounting, transmitter agents (partners), payment agents (partners), cash management operators, compliance representatives, customer service representatives.&lt;/p&gt;

This was made possible by technological advances, which&lt;br /&gt;produced growth and higher revenue for the customer. Through an extensive knowledge&lt;br /&gt;of the client’s business, Softtek was able to quickly detect problems and propose&lt;br /&gt;improvements with end-users. The client also achieved a 35% cost reduction almost&lt;br /&gt;immediately, through reaching 100% Near Shore® leverage (personnel working at&lt;br /&gt;Softtek delivery center).&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;A Cadbury é uma empresa de origem inglesa com mais de 200 anos de história, presente em cerca de 200 países e dona de centenas de marcas conhecidas de confeitos e chocolate.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;A Cadbury do Brasil traduz uma história de grandes conquistas e de parceria com os brasileiros. A empresa, que é a maior no setor de confeitos no país, emprega 2.500 pessoas (divididas entre a fábrica, de Bauru, a força de Vendas e o escritório administrativo), e fabrica produtos reconhecidos entre os mais admirados pelos brasileiros, como Trident, Halls, Chiclets e Bubbaloo.&lt;/p&gt;

Além de atualizar a versão do sistema SAP para ECC 6.0, e eliminar alguns sistemas legados (por exemplo, a solução fiscal para o Brasil), outro desafio foi maximizar a utilização dos módulos de Transportation e WM utilizando rádio frequência.&lt;/p&gt;
