Crash and Burn - What Happened, how I fixed it?

Oh well, since my original plan didn't work out, I'll try to shortly describe what I tried to do, what went wrong and what I'll do to fix it. I hope this will help someone else to avoid these mistakes.

1. What I wanted to do: I started out trying to create a JV-script that would be a combination of Nickelmania with the Butterfly Marketing engine. The whole idea was to create big list through an enticing JV offer (100% commission paid immediatelly to your account and 40% on the One Time Offer, paid later). And an enticing product starting at $1. If someone wants more details I'll gladly explain, simply PM me.

2. What went wrong: Since I knew how both scripts work I created a general requirement (mistake #1 too general) and posted it to Rentacoder.com After a couple of weeks and $$ I got my script, with a few bugs, but in general it worked how I wanted. So I set it up, tested it and since it worked how I wanted (mistake #2, it's not about you, but the customer) I decided to launch the site. To my surprize, even though purchases started immediately after I announced it in a couple of places, I had NO Affilate Signups. I started contacting the buyers and discovered that the flow I had laid out wasn't that straight forward and they didn't understand how to download the product or how to become an affiliate. So I decided to shut the place down, before I couldn't handle the support tickets. The good thing is that I had planned for an emergency and I had created a "Broken" page to pull out quickly (http://www.7dayspecial.com/indexbroken.php)

3.How I Plan to fix it? Well I decided on buying a tested Affiliate script (which to my suprize cheaper that what I paid at RAC). I will still use the "Price starts at $1 and going up" concept. But because of limitations of the script I can't pay the 100% commission upfront.

So I have decided in the following structure: Affiliates will be paid both for the main product and the one time offer: 40% commissions of all sales they generate. If they make more than 20 sales their commission goes up to 50% If they make 20 more their commission goes up to 60%

PLUS there is an incentive, if his/her customers enroll as an affiliates he will make 20% commission of ALL sales generated by these new affilates also.

Clients will receive their download link in the mail and also they will be told to make money and sign up as an affilate. (since I am using paypal, I had to be a bit creative with Aweber to be able to send out the download)

Does this make sense?

By the way, commissions on how much? Well the main product price will start at $1 and will go up by the hour up to $48 on day seven. The One time Offer will be $47 the whole time.

How was you Labor day weekend? I hope you took of some time to relax and think on your next great idea, it truly is only a matter of relaxing and letting things flow, let me tell you my experience this weekend.

Personally I went to the beach (I live in El Salvador) with my wife and some friends. The day was gorgeous, not a cloud in the sky the sea was nice and fresh and overall the day wasn’t that hot. Did you see the 500words.com site that Joel Comm setup? Did you notice that he was selling his script to do this keyword cloud page from $499 to $899 and he completely sold out?

I was very tempted to get Joel's Script when it was $499, but eventually he increased the price and I seth the idea of having my money making keyword cloud page aside.

4 Successful Affiliate Marketing Business Models

Affiliate Marketing has become very popular, largely because you have little or no direct expenditure, you don’t have to create a product, stock inventory or handle refunds, but this doesn’t mean you are guaranteed to succeed or that you won’t have to work to ultimately achieve success.

Each different model has its up side and down side and it is up to you to choose which thrills you most.

1) The Google Cash Method
This model is quite straightforward and the way it works is for you to buy advertising space or PPC advertising on a Search engine and send the traffic directly to the merchant with your affiliate ID. If the person buys, you will receive a commission. There are several downsides for this model; the biggest is that once you stop advertising your sales end too. Other downsides of this model are: That you have no control over the merchant’s sales page, campaign effectiveness is pretty difficult to track and you are passing on a buying customer which you can never sell to again. Please note that this is a very easy model which has worked for many people. My problem with this model is that you are leaving money on the table because you are missing on either the back end sales or the future products you could have sold to this person.

2) The Landing Page Method
This model requires a bit more work and investment, but it also has long term benefits. For this Model you will build a landing page or review page where you write a quick review for 3 to 5 products and each of them will have a link to the product page. The advantage: The user has several products from where to choose, when your site gets picked up by the search engines you’ll have free traffic and because it is a comparative review the product will be more credible by the time the user lands on the purchase page. Downside, you still have to pass through the merchant’s sales page, you have little effectiveness tracking at the keyword level. You pass the customer on to the merchant.

3) Squeeze page method.
Here you create a squeeze page for a niche and either offer a free report or e-mail course where you can recommend your affiliate products. Advantage, great for list building, you can separate lookers from prospects, you can successfully continue selling them if they don’t purchase your first offer.

4) All In One Automated Method.
To me this is the best model to follow because you have all the advantages of the previous methods. You have great tracking, a constant monthly recurring income, landing page flexibility, list building, and more. If you are very Internet Savvy and know some php you can do this yourself, except for the recurring monthly income, for that I strongly believe you would have to hire a programmer which would increase your investment quite a bit.

There is a very thin line between paying for an information product and getting paid for the exact same product.

If you are an active Internet Marketer or receive any IM newsletters I am sure you received today’s invitation to buy the “Uncut Internet Marketing” Videos. Personally I received at least 5 recommendations and decided to check them out.

Online Video GROWING You Tube Leading

Maybe you don't remember, but some time ago I decided to do my first Video Blog post (VLOG) I had heard video was growing online, and you should cover your bases early.

The only thing I got from it was a comment that said My Face was perfect for Radio. Since then I haven't done another video post.

Actually I didn't get that comment, I didn't post again, because I thought it was a bit difficult and I didn't want to use up all my bandwidth in video streams. Well video IS growing and there are several options to get video on your site. Personally I have tried googol Video, but according to Marketing Vox, You Tube is the Market Leader (read article here).

So now what? Well I have to take out my tools and start working on some videos, I recommend you do the same, it has now become really cheap and easy to have videos on your site and it is a shame if you don't take advantage of this technology while it is still young.

I'll be sharing some great free tools and excellent resources in my next post. (hopefully it will be a video post)

Isn't this cool? Now you can have an audio post or podcast on your blog just by calling in a number and recording your post. Really neat if you are traveling and don't have an internet connection, or maybe to do an interview and post directly to the blog.

I am sure you can come up with a couple of ideas also.

This is my third posting today, you might want to check out the first to before reading this one.
I almost forgot thta another great way to get your site spidered by Google is with their Site maps. You can sign up here: http://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/

There you can add a sitemap of your whole site to Google, the only small problem is that you have to create a sitemap file in XML... But do not fear, I have a solution!!!

If you haven't read the previous posts, and uploaded your articles yet, go do that NOW and come back and read this when you have finished...

Done? OK now what you have to do is visit http://www.auditmypc.com/free-sitemap-generator.asp
After a couple of seconds you'll see a big G to your right, click that and it will launch the Sitemap Generator aplication. When your are done, save the file on your serveer and go to the Google Sitemap site I mentioned above, sign up and submit your site.

In a day or two you should see Goolgebot crawling your site.

I almost forgot, before even setting up the pages for Search Engines, and before entering the adsense code, there is something 1000% easier to make money fast.

Promote your affiliate link!

If you have a list, send it to them ASAP.
If you don't have a list, find some information marketing forums (The Lost Files, Nicheology, Your own articles, etc.) and post your affiliate link. Try to be a bit subtle so they don't ban you.

Are you into Chatting? Go ahead and tell your friends about this tonight.

I have set up an Adwords campaign. It hasn't been great, but it has been dirt cheap.

Get creative and start making some $$ tonight.

What to do with the Content

Hello All,

Since many of you ordered the Content Goldmine I mentioned this week ( http://www.successtoolsonline.com/go/content.html ) and several people have asked what the next step is, I want to show you what I am doing so you can get some ideas.

First and most important USE IT!

I will be posting all what I do and some video demos to my blog; so if you need help, I recommend you check it at least once a week so you can make some money with this content you aquired.

I won't be sending email each time I do something because there is another group who isn't interested in this and I don't want to fill up your Inbox.

There are several things to do with the content, and I'll be working from the easiest to the more complicated.

First I wanted to use it as FRESH content on my site so the spiders pick it up.
I've done that bare bones basic here (click any link):

Then if you look at my previous postings on my blog I mentioned I had done, posted a link, and I "pinged" my post so the search engines pick up the link. (which they have by now)

The next easiest thing to do is to generate Adsense Revenue. To do that I have obtained my Adsense code (by the way you can join adsense by clicking on white button down to the right in the post) I created a simple template and I "copy pasted" the information in the template and saved the docs. If you notice at the end I also have some Clickbank RSS links. I'll show you how I applied the template and how I did the RSS in a video I will make tomorrow.

I know I disappeared for a few days, but I am preparing for the Christmas Season.

The other day I was writing on my other Blog a Spanish Internet Marketing one, and I was telling everyone how sales will increase this year and how they should prepare, and suddenly I noticed I hadn't done a thing my self!!!!

So off I went and started researching what I could do that would be ready in time for this years shoppers.

To tell you the truth I am kind of tired, but I was able to launch a product in Clickbank in less than 5 days and I am almost done with another project that could create a good Christmas Bonus.

As soon as I'm done I'll tell you what I did and what you can do to make some extra cash this season.
