Human memory is a complex subject and several millions of dollars are spent each year on memory related research. Alphabet Method: The Alphabet Method is another peg technique. Instead of using objects in a room, though, you associate facts with letters of the alphabet. You can use the letters of the alphabet to remember details either by forming connections based on rhyming, based on similar letters, or based on associating the detail with an object of a given letter.

Make Up A Song: Combining facts with familiar tunes is a great way to cement information in your mind. Use nursery rhymes or simple songs with a catchy tune. Write out the details you want to remember then turn them into the lyrics of your song. You can try listing the information to the music, or create funny words and phrases to help the facts stand out in your mind. By applying the information to music, you will engage much more of your brain and will create more connections resulting in stronger memories.

Repetition: Repetition is one of the most powerful techniques that you can employ. Whether you use flash cards, quizzes, highlighting, or taking notes, repeating the information over and over will eventually commit the ideas to memory. To speed the process up, incorporate different modalities in your studies. Try to bring all of your senses and different parts of your brain to bear on your subject. Self Esteem - What is it?

Self esteem is how you feel about yourself… what you think about yourself… and who you think you are. The experiences of our lifetime are the major factors that shape our self-esteem.

Does that mean that because I had a miserable childhood and a miserable past that my self-esteem is low?

While with a majority of folks, the answer would be yes, it is not necessarily so with all folks.

Does that mean that I am stuck with the way I feel about myself?

The answer is a resounding “NO!”

No one can MAKE us feel a certain way about ourselves. They may say mean and rough things. However, in the end, we decide if we will believe what they say. We decide how we feel about ourselves. By our actions and purposeful thoughts of everyday, we can alter the way we think about others and ourselves. You become changed by what you consistently behold, watch, listen to, and participate in.

For example: When a child is told, day in and day out, from parents, other family members, and family friends that he is stupid, that child grows up believing that he is stupid and sometimes fulfills that saying just because he believes that it is true because he had been told it for so long from so many people.

On the other hand: if that same child is taken from that atmosphere and is placed in a supporting environment where he is told that he is amazingly smart or that he can do it or that he can learn anything, that child will grow up to believe that he is smart and can learn anything because he had been told it for so long from so many people.

In the same way, we can alter our thoughts about who we are by the same techniques. It doesn’t happen over night but is a consistent and persistent necessity. It takes time, but as we put new positive self-affirmative thoughts in, the negative thoughts will eventually go out and what we think about ourselves will change as a result of the positive affirmations.

Almost every has at one time or another had to deal with self-esteem in one form or another. It is how we deal with that situation and how we let it affect us that will depend upon whether we begin to believe it and internalize it to change who we are.

It is very important to surround ourselves with those people who care about us and love us. Because those are the people who will find us of value to them and will be a great support system to encourage us when we need the encouragement and when we can't seem to encourage ourselves on those terribly bad days.

So, make wise decisions on who you make as friends and be sure that they are someone who isn't dipping out of your bucket, but instead is adding to it, thus adding to who you are.

Success in any particular business, depends for one thing upon your possessing, in a well-developed state, the faculties required in that business. Without good musical faculty no one can succeed as a teacher of music. Without well-developed mechanical faculties no one can achieve great success in any of the mechanical trades. Without tact and the commercial faculties no one can succeed in mercantile pursuits. But to possess in a well-developed state the faculties required in your particular vocation does not insure getting rich. There are musicians who have remarkable talent, and who yet remain poor. There are blacksmiths, carpenters, and so on who have excellent mechanical ability, but who do not get rich.

Also there are merchants with good faculties for dealing with people who nevertheless fail. The different faculties are tools. It is essential to have good tools, but it is also essential that the tools should be used in the right way.
One man can take a sharp saw, a square, a good plane, and so on, and build a handsome article of furniture. Another man can take the same tools and set to work to duplicate the article, but his production will be a botch. He does not know how to use good tools in a successful way.

The various faculties of your mind are the tools with which you must do the work which is to make you rich. So it will be easier for you to succeed if you get into a business for which you are well equipped with mental tools. Don’t just go into something with the believe that it will spin you millions of dollars instantly.
Generally speaking, you will do best in that business which will use your strongest faculties, the one for which you are naturally best fitted. But there are limitations to this statement also. No one should regard his vocation as being irrevocably fixed by the tendencies with which he was born.

You can get rich in ANY business, for if you have not the right talent, you can develop that talent. It merely means that you will have to make your tools as you go along, instead of confining yourself to the use of those with which you were born. It will be easier for you to succeed in a vocation, for which you already have the talents in a well-developed state, but you can succeed in any aspect, for you can develop any rudimentary talent, and there is no talent of which you have not at least the rudiment.

You will get rich most easily in terms of effort, if you do that for which you are best fitted, but you will get rich most satisfactorily if you do that which you want to do (i.e. doing something that gives you so much joy and keeps you alive, passion-filled). Doing what you want to do is life, and there is no real satisfaction in living if we are compelled to be forever doing something which we do not like to do and can never do what we want to do. And it is certain that you can do what you want to do. The desire to do it is proof that you have within you the power which can do it.

Desire is a manifestation of power. The desire to play music is the power which can play music seeking expression and development. The desire to invent mechanical devices is the mechanical talent seeking expression and development.
Where there is no power, either developed or undeveloped, to do a thing, there is never any desire to do that thing, and where there is strong desire to do a thing, it is certain proof that the power to do it is strong and only requires to be developed and applied in the right way. All other things being equal, it is best to select the business for which you have the best developed talent, but if you have a strong desire to engage in any particular line of work, you should select that work as the ultimate end at which you aim.
You can do what you want to do, and it is your right and privilege to follow the business or avocation which will be most congenial and pleasant. You are not obliged to do what you do not like to do, and should not do it except as a means to bring you to the doing of the thing you want to do.

Now note this very important point, if there are past mistakes whose consequences have placed you in an undesirable business or environment, you may be obliged for some time to do what you do not like to do, but you can make the doing of it pleasant by knowing that it is making it possible for you to come to the doing of what you want to do.
If you feel that you are not in the right vocation, do not act too hastily in trying to get into another one. The best way, generally, to change business or environment is by growth.
Do not be afraid to make a sudden and radical change if the opportunity is presented and you feel after careful consideration that it is the right opportunity, but never take sudden or radical action when you are in doubt as to the wisdom of doing so.

.... Where there is strong desire to do a thing, it is certain proof that the power to do it is strong and only requires to be developed and applied in the right way…

There is never any hurry on the creative plane, and there is no lack of opportunity. When you get out of the competitive mind you will understand that you never need to act hastily. No one else is going to beat you to the thing you want to do; there is enough for all. If one space is taken, another and a better one will be opened for you a little farther on; there is plenty of time. When you are in doubt, wait. Fall back on the contemplation of your vision, and increase your faith and purpose. And by all means, in times of doubt and indecision, cultivate gratitude.

A day or two spent in contemplating the vision of what you want and in earnest thanksgiving that you are getting it will bring your mind into such close relationship with the supreme that you will make no mistake when you do act.
There is a mind which knows all there is to know, and you can come into close unity with this mind by faith and the purpose to advance in life, if you have deep gratitude.
Mistakes come from acting hastily or from acting in fear or doubt or in forgetfulness of the right motive, which is more life to all, and less to none, so try to think very well removing all forms of obstacle in , so try to think very well removing all forms of obstacle in your thought, so that clear thinking if attained and good results follow. As you go on in the certain way, opportunities will come to you in increasing number, and you will need to be very steady in your faith and purpose, and to keep in close touch with the supreme mind by reverent gratitude.

Remember that in the moment you begin to hurry you cease to be a creator and become a competitor. You drop back upon the old plane again. Whenever you find yourself hurrying, call a halt. Fix your attention on the mental image of the thing you want and begin to give thanks that you are getting it. The exercise of GRATITUDE will never fail to strengthen your faith and renew your purpose. THE SCIENCE OF EMASSING WEALTH

There is a science of getting rich, and it is an exact science, like algebra or arithmetic. There are certain laws which govern the process of acquiring riches, and once these laws are understood and followed by anyone, that person will get rich with mathematical certainty. The ownership of money and property comes as a result of doing things in a certain way, and those who do things in this certain way, whether on purpose or accidentally (unconsciously) get rich, while those who do not do things in this certain way no matter how hard they work or how able they are; remain poor.

“…It is a natural law that like causes always produces like effects and, therefore, any man or woman who learns to do things in this certain way will infallibly get rich…”
That the above statement is true is shown by the following facts:

ENVIRONMENT; Getting rich is not a matter of environment, for if it were, all the people in certain neighborhoods would become wealthy. The people in a particular city would all be rich, while those of other towns would all be poor, or all the inhabitants of one state would roll in wealth, while those of an adjoining state would be in poverty. It’s a fact that there are still poor people present in Las Vegas, the capital city of money.
But everywhere we see rich and poor living side by side, in the same environment, and often engaged in the same vocations.
When two people are in the same locality and in the same business, and one gets rich while the other remains poor, it shows that getting rich is not primarily a matter of environment. Some environments may be more favorable than others, but when two people in the same business are in the same neighborhood and one gets rich while the other fails, it indicates that getting rich is the result of doing things in a certain way.

TALENT; the ability to do things in this certain way is not due solely to the possession of talent, for many people who have great talent remain poor, while others who have very little talent get rich. The world in which we live still has more undiscovered talents than discovered talents, a case study is the music industry; everyday new acts are smashing record sales with their extraordinary talents.
Studying the people who have gotten rich, we find that they are an average lot in all respects, having no greater talents and abilities than other people have.
This leads us to back to certain ways of doing things.
You’ll soon be quite familiar with the phrase, certain way! Be sure to note that the word certain has two meanings which both apply here:

1. Specific or particular,

2. Having no doubt, convinced, sure

Getting rich is not the result of saving, or thrift. Many very penurious people are poor, while free spenders often get rich. Nor is getting rich due to doing things which others fail to do, for two people in the same business often do almost exactly the same things, and one gets rich while the other remains poor or becomes bankrupt.
From all these things, we must come to the conclusion that getting rich is the result of doing things in a certain way. If getting rich is the result of doing things in a certain way, and if like causes always produce like effects, then any man or woman who can do things in that way can become rich, and the whole matter is brought within the domain of exact science. The question arises here as to whether this certain way may not be so difficult that only a few may follow it. As we have seen, this cannot be true (as far as natural ability is concerned).

Talented people get rich, and blockheads get rich; intellectually brilliant people get rich, and very stupid people get rich; physically strong people get rich and weak and sickly people get rich, anyone and everyone can acquire wealth. Some degree of ability to think and understand is, of course, essential, but insofar as natural ability is concerned, any man or woman who has sense enough to read and understand these words can certainly get rich.

Also, we have seen that it is not a matter of environment. Yes, location counts for something. One would not go to the heart of the Sahara and expect to do successful business. Getting rich involves the necessity of dealing with people and of being where there are people to deal with, and if these people are inclined to deal in the way you want to deal, so much the better. But that is about as far as environment goes. If anybody else in your town can get rich, so can you, and if anybody else in your state can get rich, so can you. Again, it is not a matter of choosing some particular business or profession. People get rich in every business and in every profession, while their next door neighbors in the very same vocation remain in poverty.
It is true that you will do best in a business which you like and which is congenial to you. And if you have certain talents which are well developed, you will do best in a business which calls for the exercise of those talents.

You will do best in a business which is suited to your locality; an ice cream parlor would do better in a warm climate than in Greenland, and a salmon fishery will succeed better in the northwest than in Florida, where there are no salmon.
But, aside from these general limitations, getting rich is not dependent upon your engaging in some particular business, but upon your learning to do things in a certain way. If you are now in business and anybody else in your locality is getting rich in the same business, while you are not getting rich, it is simply because you are not doing things in the same way that the other person is doing them.
No one is prevented from getting rich by lack of capital. True, as you get capital the increase becomes more easy and rapid, but one who has capital is already rich and does not need to consider how to become so. No matter how poor you may be, if you begin to do things in the certain way you will begin to get rich and you will begin to have capital. The getting of capital is a part of the process of getting rich and it is a part of the result which invariably follows the doing of things in the certain way.

Even if you are the poorest person on the continent and be deeply in debt. You may have neither friends, influence, nor resources, but if you begin to do things in this way, you must infallibly begin to get rich, for like causes must produce like effects. If you have no capital, you can get capital. If you are in the wrong business, you can get into the right business.
If you are in the wrong location, you can go to the right location. And you can do so by beginning in your present business and in your present location to do things in the certain way which always causes success. You must begin to live in harmony with the laws governing the universe.

Employment-Unemployment Thesis.

Employment as most people claim to know or think is a way of life that most individuals adopt for the sole aim of getting paid.

True or False?

Now let me ask a question;
Why do you wake up every day get dressed live you house and go to work?
My guess will be as good as yours, to get paid.
Employment has its many advantages and disadvantages, to mention a little of the disadvantages;
- Time consuming
- Stressful
- For most individuals, not satisfying.
When will you ever get the perfect job? Now or Never.
Furthermore, the only reasonable definition of unemployment is; a situation when an individual is not being paid for selling his time.
Don’t get this all twisted up, it is go to be employed but for the right purpose. Taking up a job for selfish interest has its repercussions. It could leave a denting image. Choose a job because it suits you, and not because a neighbour or friend lives his home every morning and you want to do same.

Employment-Unemployment thesis is that one theory which tries as much to link the unemployed to the employed (i.e. the poor to the rich). Come to think about it, what is the only factor wanting between the two previously mentioned;
“CREATIVITY”
A creative unemployed is as good if not better than a non-creative employed.
You don’t need a pay cheque or an office space to be what you want to be, no matter how my articles give you juicy inspirations on how to be gainfully employed or creatively unemployed and self reliant, the secret still lies with you.
All you need do is locate it and exploit it!!!

“Creativity” brings “wealth”
Mathematically,
Unemployment=Skills acquisition
Skills brings about creativity,
Creativity=Money
Note that; money is also equals to wealth
:. Creativity=Wealth
Money comes from the sales or supplies of goods and services
Goods and services are also “Ideas”
:. Ideas=Money
Money=Financial Success

So it is right to say that unemployment leads to financial success depending on the following factors;
- Skills acquisition
- Creativity
- Ideas
- Persistence (being constant)

If you exploit the capabilities of the brain when unemployed, i guarantee you will come up with creative ideas that will bring about wealth when executed and lead to financial success.

Finally, the Employment-Unemployment Thesis states that,” An employed remains employed unless he or she is the boss (employer), while the unemployed becomes the employer (boss) if he makes good use of his or her ideas to the very end.

THE EXAM.

Passing job interview or screenings does not have a known secret or solution, all it takes is creativity in thinking and knowledge.
You will all agree with me that as far as multinationals are concerned, everyone who scales their hurdles of questions and interviews should consider himself not lucky but brainy and intelligent.
Twenty-four years ago my first test, unknown to me was an I.Q test. Very easy yet I failed it, and twenty-four years on it still keeps everyone pondering how I could have failed based on the question;

Q- What do you see yourself as 10years from now?

Imagine what my answer would have been in 1986, technology not yet at its peak, cutting edge solutions not yet in existence or being implemented.
What would have been your answer then?

The Exam is never about the question and never about the answer; it’s confusing yet self explanatory. An interview is never based on your answer to a question; if it is based on that a written test will be the perfect way of picking the required candidates for a job.

Twenty-four years ago I never knew what I know now, which is the power of excelling at interviews lies within your ability to be creative in thinking and synchronizing such thoughts with outward expressions, putting the employing firm as a benefactor pertaining to the question been answered.

The meaning of the above; don’t go outside the boundaries of a question, work within the limits using the employing firm as a case study.

I see myself 10years from now working with young entrepreneurs having fresh ideas and cutting edge technologies, taking calculated risks yielding maximum returns for your company thereby solidifying its stance as one of the fore runners in the marketing sector, a household name and globally established company.
If I had said that twenty-four years ago maybe I would have got the job. You never learn without failing, but also remember you can also learn from others failures.
So take a cue from mine and get yours right.

The Exam simple yet hard, never depends on the answer or question but depending on how creative you could be in convincing the employer.

Your Niche; Making it work for you

Your niche; a thing of joy, one that keeps you busy thinking, one that is always on your mind at all times, one that occupies your daily life, one that tries to compete with your spouse, wife, lover e.t.c. and finally one that you should use to make your financial status rise beyond your wildest dreams.

Individuals possess various niche(s). It may be writing, dancing, singing, acting, painting. Honestly, I try to define a niche that doesn’t bring in money for one as a hobby. An idle hobby for that matter.

Everyone’s dream job is one which is passionate, filled with lots of passion; making working hours more comfortable and worth your while. Now imagine your niche being your work; one, it brings you so much joy, two it helps you solve your financial problems.

Cutting to the chase, how can ones niche(s) make money?

First of all find out what your niche is, i.e. what I call the discovery process or initial stage. Finding out what your niche could be is very difficult because you have to consider the following to know if it’s truly your niche,

-What do you like doing the most?
-Do you have passion for it?
-Do you spend most of your time thinking of it (i.e. you feel dead/lifeless if you are not doing it). Remember, a niche is addictive.

When you have finally done this you are now ready to monetise your niche.
To monetise your niche you also have to consider a few things, which are very important to know before venturing into the financial process of it;
-How long can I go with it?

-Selfishness, that’s the fastest way to crash in every business. Your aim should be touching lives or providing a service with that niche.
When you provide a service you gain the trust of others, then you can start thinking of making money.

-What are the chances of it bringing the expected financial returns?

-How many other people are doing it?

-What are they doing that I do in another way to draw attention my way?

-Finally will my family and friends accept this and be will to support me all the way?
The final question sometimes should be the first, many at times family stands as a major threat when it comes to achieving a major goal. At the same time they also are a defining factor in the success of a feat. So think wisely on taking the next step in life, do you want to work in an office without job security, knowing that at anytime you can be shoved aside, or do you want your niche to work for you?
My best bet will be making your niche work for you, because that’s a sure way of living a fulfilled life. Cheers!!!

SUCCESS TIPS OF EXCELLING AT JOB INTERVIEWS.

Last week while In Ghana for a meeting with the Heads of department of one of the biggest telecoms firm, my longtime friend; Mr. Adewale Sangowawa (The Executive Director Human Resources) from Nigeria gave out a few tips on passing interviews without knowing he was talking to a blogger.
I will share these tips with you on one condition, and that’s if you the readers promise to make good use of them. I can’t here you!!!

Excelling at Interviews.

1. Always be punctual; punctuality is a key quality for employment, you might never know that someone is watching you, so please try to always be at an interview appointment on time.
2. Cleanliness; try as much as possible not to look to flashy. Being smart means being good looking and modest with your dressing. For the ladies, apply less make up, don’t chew gums, try as much as possible to close loop holes (don’t reveal too much flesh, just show little). For the Men, keep nice finger nails, neat beards and haircuts, leave only your wedding ring on your finger if you are married, that means leave other fancy rings at home or in the car.
3. Smiling face; smile when necessary, like when a funny or nice comment is made, this shows them you are a warm person and brings out the beauty in you.
4. Straight to the point; Answer each question nicely and precisely, stop beating about the busy because you will definitely get lost. Give the truthful answers to questions and don’t lie about it. Lying only puts you in trouble if you are finally employed and you don’t have the qualities you say you possess. Remember there is nothing as obvious as a white lie.
5. Expand your database of knowledge; know what you are in for before going for an interview, try finding out more on the company, its goals, its products; either goods or services. This will help you tackle some questions thrown at you about why you will like to work in that company.
6. Time is of the essence; let there be a touch of time in every question you answer, longer time erases points you might have made earlier from the interviewer’s mind. Remember he/she is also human.
7. Don’t be selfish; call friends that work in other companies in the same field and find out how much they are being paid for the position you are gunning for. That will help you answer questions like;
Q. When you get this job, what amount will you like to be paid annually?
A. I will appreciate it if I am paid $ 40,000, due to the risk involved in underwater wielding.
8. Finally, if you succeed in passing the early stages of your interview which is the written test and oral test, know your health deficiencies, if you have a heart problem don’t go for jobs that are strenuous and requires most of your time. Go for jobs that suit your health, nobody wants to die on a job.

A Job. An action taken either on a continuous basis or temporary for the sole aim of getting paid. The reward which is a weekly, monthly or yearly salary, which varies for different jobs.
The ideal job for one might be a disgusting one to another, either for the following purposes;

(a) Nature of Job
(b) Payment Plan
(c) Benefits.

Nature of job constitutes of its location, how conducive is the work environment, friendliness and team spirit of co-workers while at work.

Payment plan which is the purpose why most people dabble into jobs without thinking of the job security and if the job is relevant to their field of study.

Benefits which includes; health and life insurances, medical care and basic allowances depending on jobs executed. (i.e. marketing department) are incentives used in luring individuals to work for companies.

To get the ideal job means setting your goals ahead of you, know your priorities; define yourself as an individual and as a professional.
