Free Defensive Driving School for Teens

We just spent $600 on driver’s education for our 16-year-old daughter. Part of the reason for spending that kind of cash was our $600 one-time investment would allow us to save $1,000 a year on car insurance with a new driver. Plus, our school district does not offer any kind of drivers ed. So taken together it’s up to the parents to shoulder the cost of driving school. Too bad I don’t still live in the Midwest, where we could have qualified for a free defensive driving school for teens. For the fourth year in a row, KeyBank and Kumho Tire U.S.A. are offering Key to Safe Teen Driving, a defensive driving class that begins in June in 14 midwest cities. The program uses professional instructors from The Mid-Ohio School and is designed to improve teen driving skills as well as raise awareness about the importance of proper training for young drivers. Key to Safe Teen Driving offers participants a condensed version of The Mid-Ohio School’s Honda Teen Defensive Driving Program. Get Movie Tickets at a Discount

My frugal way of enjoying film entertainment is waiting for movies to become available On Demand via my cable company. Ideally, they are free, or at least heavily discounted from what I would pay in the theaters. However, sometimes I want to see a movie in a more traditional setting–as I did when I took my daughters to see “The Hunger Games” a few weeks ago. When I do go to the movies, I always try to see a showing earlier in the day, for matinee pricing. Plus, when purchasing tickets, I show my affinity card at the theater, which allows me to earn points towards free concession food or future free tickets. Another way to be frugal when going to the movies is to buy tickets in advance at a bulk rate. Recently, there was an AMC Groupon that allowed you to do just that–buy a bunch of tickets at a discounted rate. And now there’s another deal that can help you with frugal film watching. I just found out, through one of my affiliate networks, that Goldstar has a nationwide deal for Cinemark Theaters that allows you to buy four (4) tickets for only $30. That comes out [...]
