Yesterday marked my 4 year anniversary in THIS little spot in the blogosphere. THIS is where my love for stamping, coloring, teaching and eventually the crazy idea of opening my own stamp company all happened. But as with everything in life, you need to make adjustments to make things work. And for me, keeping up with two blogs in just not working.

I didn't want to "abandon" this blog because THIS is the place where I met some of my very best friends, THIS is the place where sweet friends from all over the world would stop by just to say that they liked my work. (I mean, come on...there isn't a better feeling in the world for an artist than to have people take a moment out of their day to leave them a comment on their work!!) THIS is the place that I would share photos and tidbits of my "real life" with you all and many of you have "watched" my kiddos grow up here.

But then I realized...THIS is not what made me feel special or gave me the warm fuzzy's, that was YOU! Yes, YOU reading this!! YOU are the reason that I love to do what I do and I don't want to "leave" you. So instead, I'm going to beg you to come with me over to my new blog. How do you like them apples?

I'm playing along in our very first SugarPea Designs Challenge with the recently released, Bushel & A Peck stamp set. With half of the school year already over, soon it will be time to make some teacher appreciation cards. I really love Nathan and Brooke's teachers this year, they are so organized and creative that the kids are really enjoying going to school each day.

I just ADORE the pencils and apple insert in this set! The sentiment was stamped onto a fishtail banner created with SchoolHouse designer paper from October Afternoon. My Bushel & A Peck image was fussy cut and then popped up with foam tape for dimension. I added a scrap of designer paper and a red button and threaded with twine to finish things off.

I'm also pretty excited about completing the insides of my cards. Even the little insert images that you stamp inside her bushel/basket can be used as a sweet way to embellish the inside. :)

You're a Gem!

I have been furiously working to get things ready for the SugarPea Design grand opening last week, that sadly I had not had much of a chance to get crafty myself. But luckily I was able to spend a little time over the weekend in my studio creating again and boy did it feel good!

I think you can never have too many "Thank You" cards on hand and this sweet critter from our new Go-Pher It set from our adorable Bean Stalk Collection proved to be perfect for the job. I used a Clear Spica pen on his pick axe and bucket for a little bit of shimmer and a coat of StarDust Stickles on this gems. The sentiment was heat embossed in white to give it a little POP!

I love the contrast and dimension that heat embossing gives, so I added it to the inside of my card and colored in the gems with various Stickles to give it more POP!

You Wanna Pizza Me?

WOW!! What a week this has been. I'd like to THANK YOU all so much for the outpouring of love, support and excitement that you have showered on me and the team!! We had a terrific turnout for our very first FaceBook Release Chat Party, that we could hardly keep up with the conversation it was moving so quickly. :) We are THRILLED that many of you have stamps making their way to you now and can't wait to see your SWEET creations with SugarPea Designs stamps! Until we start our challenges, we'd love it if you'd share your creations with us on our SugarPea Designs Facebook page. Today I'm sharing with you my very first SugarPea Designs creation using Pizza My Heart from the Sugar Snap Collection. This guy has been a DT favorite right from the start and mine too. I truly love creating masculine themed cards and this guy makes it so easy.

I combined both masculine and feminine elements by distressing and inking the papers and adding a doily die and stitching. Glossy accents were added to his eyes, buttons and pepperoni.

I have been so inspired by the SugarPea Design Team members who have been decorating the inside of their cards - I love how even a simple little design element can make the whole card seem more polished and complete.

I really love the way this turned out and will be giving this to my hubby for Valentines. He has been so AMAZING and has supported and encouraged me every step of the way in making this SugarPea Designs dream of mine come true!

Secret Revealed...SugarPea Designs Clear Stamps

Keeping a secret is a hard thing to do. Keeping a secret as big as this has been sheer torture!! But today is the day that I can finally reveal why I have been a bit quiet for the last several months!

I am thrilled to announce that I will soon be opening the doors to my brand new company! SugarPea Designs will open its cyber doors to the online shoppe on January 9th, 2014! I have chosen a select few illustrators to bring my ideas to life in the form of high quality clear photopolymer stamps manufactured right here in the U.S.A.! We will carry cute and whimsical images that will appeal to the colorists at heart with sweet and punny sentiments fit for every occasion.

Over the next several weeks. I will be revealing the premiere SugarPea Designs DT members. I am so honored that this group of amazingly talented women have joined me in this journey. This team has been carefully selected and designed to inspire all of you! Being an 80's girl myself, I'm a huge fan of the YNS Fantabulous 80's Accessories cling set. I used the Rubic cube image and colored it with Copics and popped it up with foam tape for dimension. As for the card itself, I kept things pretty CAS (Clean and Simple) only using my Perfect Layer tool to create my mats of black cardstock and designer paper from Echo Park and a MFT Fishtail banner. The sentiment was computer generated.

OWH Birthday Bash Blog Hop

I am so thrilled to be a part of this fantabulous Operation Write Home & Perfect Papercrafting Blog Hop. Operation Write Home is such a wonderful organization and I love the idea of sending cards to our military men and women who are far from home to use. With projects created using Perfect Layers for Operation Write Home we hope to wow you with some gorgeous creations today! I figured since it was a birthday bash, why not make a Kickin' Birthday card using MFT's adorable Karate Boy. My sentiment was stamped using MFT Black Licorice Ink. The designer papers are from My Mind's Eye (Lost & Found - Sunshine) and those perfectly matted layers were made using my Perfect Layers Tool. I added some small black brads to the corners to keep things simple and within the guidelines that OWH has for sending cards to soldiers.

For my sample project I used the brand new Darling Diva, Aubrey. I imagined her chatting with a friend on and thought she would go perfectly with the recently released YNS Talk Bubble Dies and YNS Awesome Journal Word Clear Sentiments. I started with a base of White cardstock and layered it with Sweet Blush cardstock from PTI. I embossed a layer of Kraft cardstock using a Beaded Ribbon embossing folder from Sizzix. I added designer paper from Glitz (Hello Friend) behind the negative space in the YNS Talk Bubbles and stamped the YNS Awesome Journal Word Sentiments using Kraft ink from MFT. Aubrey was colored with Copics and then fussy cut and popped up with foam dots for dimension.

My mom ALSO retired last week along with my dad. She worked in the Fire/Rescue administration dept. (same as my Dad) for the last 23 years. I'm so very happy for my mom. I remember when I was a Senior in High School she worked 3 jobs at one point just so that she could pay for all of the dues, yearbooks, prom and other things that make senior year so awesome. It's something I will always be grateful for and showed me the sacrifices that a parent makes for the benefit of their child.

For my mom's card, I used Stamping Bella's Uptown Girl - Opal the Optimist. She was of course colored with Copics. And although I know how much fun these Uptown Girls are to color, I still find myself thinking "WOW, that was fun!" when I'm finished. :) My card started with a base of Ivory cardstock paired with Terracotta Tile. I love the rich colors in these designer papers from Carta Bella, Traditions. I added a few clear rhinestones and a fishtail banner with a sentiment from MFT.

Happy Retirement

My dad retired last week, after a rewarding 34 year long career as a Firefighter. Although I know he's going to enjoy all the benefits of retirement, he's also going to miss going to the station and going out on calls - he honestly LOVED what he did.

While looking for an image to use for his card I came across, The Paper Shelter's - Adorable Firefighter which could not have been any more perfect. Since my dad is an engineer (drives the fire engine), his helmet is yellow, so I colored his helmet and bunker gear with Copics to match what he wears. I then fussy cut the image and popped it up with foam dots. I paired True Black and Kraft cardstock with designer papers from Echo Parks (All About a Boy) and used my Perfect Layer's tool to create the mats. The cityscape was made using a MFT Solid Skyline die-namic and the sentiment is from Your Next Stamp.

SCACD June Release

Welcome to the Susana's Custom Art and Card Design new release Blog Hop. I'm so honored to once again be guest designing and sharing in all of the new and exciting things going on in the SCACD store. Today, Susana Loves Stamps releases yet another round of these FUN little pranksters the Oddly Sweet Curiosities #5. With their universal appeal the Curiosities were just begging for another turn in the spotlight with a new release. These little guys are the perfect way to provoke a smile or a laugh. We're addicted, and from the popularity of the previous sets we know you will be too!!

How adorable is this dynamic duo, Great Minds? They so remind me of the two headed monster from Sesame Street. Hahaha!! They were stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copics. Since they both seemed to have agreed on enjoying a cup of coffee and a donut I thought they also might like to do the morning crossword puzzle as well. ;) I machine stitched the designer papers from Echo Park This & That (Charming) collection.

Susana Loves Stamps is also showcasing a fresh and new rubber stamp line, MechAnimals. This edgy but endearing range of SteamPunk animals will lend themselves to all sorts of projects and styles and are sure to earn a place in your crafty hearts.

I am in looooove with this SteamPunk parrot, Special Delivery!! I had an absolute BLAST coloring this guy, he has the most many amazing details. I drew inspiration for my coloring from one my favorite summertime paper pads, Down By The Shore from Fancy Pants. I created a bit of texture by adding some ivory mesh ribbon to mimic netting.

You guys are made of glitter and cupcakes and it just thrills my heart with how many of you choose to follow my blog. But as you may have heard by now, Google reader will be no more in little less than a week.
