Pamutusan Island is located in the south
 of Padang, very close to Pagang, Sikuai, and Pasumpahan Island. The fact is the island is still connected to Sumatra Island but when it comes to a high tides it will be disconnected and create its own island. Perhaps this is what inspired the naming Pamutusan which means (Disconnect).
