As you may know, Levi’s have teamed with Billy Reid for Fall 2010 as part of his win as GQ’s ‘Best New Menswear Designer in America.’ As part of that collaborative program, Levi’s and VBS.tv filmed a documentary down in Florence, Albama – Billy’s hometown and base – spotlighting local musicians of the famed Muscle Shoals studios.

The documentary in its entirety will be screened at Billy’s NYC boutique as part of his participation with Fashion’s Night Out, this coming Friday, September 10, 2010. In the meantime, we can show you a “vignette” trailer promoting the film, which of course showcases garments from the Levi’s Workwear by Billy Reid collection.

This comes 2 years after it had its first round of seed funding from Vishal Gondal who is the founder of Indiagames.

Instamedia runs 15 niche content sites under the Instablogs brand. It also runs these on its own CMS platform known as Instapress which is a Saas based model that they hope to grow going forward.

With this investment Instamedia plans to launch local sites that targe the European and US audiences which is anyway over 60% of their current traffic.

Currently Instablogs claims over 4 million monthly unique visitors. Besides for the ad revenue via the content network Instamedia also hopes to grow revenues via a fully fully hosted content solution engine called Instapress Content Server (ICS). This pay as you go service will look to target existing media and entertainment companies and enable them with content platform technology

The board at Instamedia Network will be joined by Satyan Gajwani Director of Business Development, Times of India Group. The current equity stake taken by Times of India group is not known.

Opportunity for Times Internet?

The opportunity seems twofold. First is obviously the the existing strength of Instamedia network in the US and european markets but second is their ability to generate citizen journalism content via freelancers and existing editorial staff at a really low cost. This is worth its weight in gold for a Times Internet group which runs a number of online properties targeted to Indians in India and abroad.

So a syndication of content seems like a win win atleast from an India market perspective. Besides this it also gives them access to technology platform that has been built by the Instamedia team that could now be used to power their own platforms and optimize the content for better reach as this is one area where the Instamedia team would be specialists at knowing how to optimize the content best for search and build organic traction.

visvim Commodore Coat Fall/Winter 2010

visvim has released a duffle coat, entitled Commodore Coat, from their Fall/Winter 2010 Collection.

“Super soft wool outer, Gore Wind-Stopper insulation and a decently sized hood make the jacket perfect for the (much) colder days. The toggles can be unfastened wearing gloves, but a hidden zip and a button at the top secure it even more.”

Obviously the Japanese brand presents an excellent coat and only uses the best materials, while also thinking about functionality and use. visvim has always been expensive, but lately we are getting the impression that they definitely going too far. The above coat is priced at 2000 Euros (which is more than 2500 USD) and one starts wondering whether the lining is actually made of real gold. The jacket is now available from The Glade.
