The CME conference scheduled for Nov. 5 has been postponed. The new date is April 28 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at NEOMED. We’ll keep members posted on details closer to the date.

Akron ophthalmologist loses 65 pounds while setting example

When an Akron doctor became president of the Ohio State Medical Association last year, he decided he should start practicing what he would be preaching.

So while leading the physician group and its push for wellness and prevention, Dr. Richard Ellison began dieting and exercising religiously.

With the help of his iPhone to count calories and track his activity, Ellison stuck to a plan to lose 2 pounds a week despite his demanding schedule.

On Saturday, the 52-year-old ophthalmologist officially finished his one-year presidency 65 pounds lighter than when he took office.
