I was browsing Wikipedia and was very disappointed to find out that they don’t have SVG map of Lithuania.
Usually I don’t give source away but this one is too important to keep it to myself.
Original size is 8220x6255px. It’s far from perfect (especially if you want to use big one) but it’s the best you can have at the moment.

And then I though, that not everyone has and/or know how to work with Inkscape (or other .svg program), so I also made icons pack in black, white and flag colors.

As usual icons come in: 512×512, 256×256, 128×128, 64×64, 32×32 sizes.

I wanted to make panoramic view of the city, but I though, that I should not draw it all at once, but better I’ll make a lot of different buildings and then put them in places. I am not sure if it’s the best way to make panoramic view, but there you have it: 22 different buildings.

Ok. Not really. I was just thinking what I could draw. SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick Star seemed like a good idea. It was easy to draw Patrick, but SpongeBob with all that curling…

Past few days I was trying to learn how to draw a dog. I am not happy with my result at the moment, but I decided not to throw away my hard work, so you can see it and criticize.

To be fair: It’s my hard work, but not my imagination; I just copied what I saw. I can’t draw so well yet.

On weekend I was thinking about Shopping Center Management game. I have no name for the game yet. I am not sure how exactly it will work, but decided to make some items.

We all love to save all our docs or photos or random stuff on our desktop. Maybe it’s not the best solution, but we all do this form time to time. So I was thinking how I could organize my icons to stay efficient and productive.

One way is to group icons by the project you are working on.

I have an idea to make collection of minimalistic wallpapers. Today I would like to present the first one:

Lets say you decided to make Javascript game, something every simple like Minesweeper. Do you know how to play Minesweeper?
It’s very easy. Click the button: if it’s bomb – you loose, if it’s number – it shows how many bombs that square touch. The biggest number can be 8, I never saw 8. The highest I ever saw, I think, was 5. The purpose of the game is to flag all bombs.
So, where is the problem with such game?

How many times will you play the game before get bored? 10? 5? I don’t know, eventually, you will get bored and go away. As a game maker I (or you, or your neighbor) don’t want to lose players fast. I want them to keep playing as long as I can. So, how to make game more interesting?
The best solution is social aspect or competition. Or to put it in the plain language – is to add top, that you could compare your score to other players and especially your friends. That’s where problems begin.
What kind of top could you add to Minesweeper? Two kinds: time it took you to solve the game and clicks you needed to do that.
First problem with Javascript games is time (but I am not really concerned about it). Maybe Minesweepers is not the best example for this problem. Let’s say you have to do something in 10 ticks. Tick is not the same as second. Let’s say in the background you count some trigonometric functions or just play some flash game and that stuff uses a lot of RAM, so your computer becomes slower, so tick is more than a second, maybe two… Some other dude plays the same game with brand new computer, so to him one tick is a second. Who could get higher score: you with slow computer or other person with fast one?
Second problem with Javascript games is score. If you want to make top of the clicks you have to save them somewhere maybe in var clicks. How hard is to fake that? Well, you need firebug and some time to analyze the code. That’s it. In the old school days you have to send post array by yourself, now AJAX does that for you. How cool is that? Or maybe, how terrible is that?
Are there any solutions? Yes:
1) Don’t give a shit. Or do nothing. The problem with this solution is: then players will understand that there is only one way to make it to the top – cheat: those who knows how to cheat will cheat, and others just go away.
2) UI AJAX, backend PHP. This statement to average users means less then “Abracadabra”. What I am saying is: make impressive graphical interface, but the entire logic hide in PHP or other server side language. The problem with this solution is that every time user clicks you need to do AJAX request to server. You can minimize your request by not using XML, JSON and everything put in plane text, or should I say plain numbers? E.g. 2 or bomb. So, you have like 1kb each click. There is like 81 squares in smallest version of Minesweepers. So, you will need to send addition 81kb for each game. And if there are 100 players every day, in one month they use total traffic of… Ok you get the point, someday numbers can become so big that you cheap server can’t handle them.
3) Obfuscate your code. Obfuscation doesn’t really help, it just make harder to read your code and find weak points. Someday someone will have to much time and eventually will figure out that to do, then hell brake loose.
Are there anymore possible solutions to this problem?
