The male extra died from a heart attack during rehearsals.

It is not the first time tragedy has hit a Dark Knight film - actor Heath Ledger, who played arch villain The Joker - died in 2008 at the age of 28 after shooting the second film in the trilogy.

A spokesman for studio Warner Brothers said: "The studio can confirm that a male extra passed away while on a break during an off-set crowd rehearsal for a sequence with several hundred extras in early November.

"The production crew fully cooperated with the authorities' investigation, which established that he died of natural causes."

The British actress starred opposite CHRIS EVANS in Captain America: The First Avenger as love interest Peggy Carter, and revealed it would be "wonderful" to reprise her role.

According to the studio "Johnny, still struggling with his curse as the devil's bounty hunter, is hiding out in a remote part of Eastern Europe when he is recruited by a secret sect of the church to save a young boy (Fergus Riordan) from the devil (Ciaran Hinds).

"At first, Johnny is reluctant to embrace the power of the Ghost Rider, but it is the only way to protect the boy -- and possibly rid himself of his curse forever."

He will take on the role of the DailyPlanet's Editor-In-Chief Perry White.

He joins Diane Keaton, Amy Adams, Kevin Costner and Russell Crowe for the ever-growing and impressive cast list which, of course, has Henry Cavill in
the lead leotard.

Cavill recently said of playing the Man of Steel: "I'm very proud to be British and playing an iconic American superhero... It means I'm doing something right somewhere."

He came close to landing the role of James Bond before Daniel Craig was
cast; so would he like another chance to slip into 007's tux?

"That would be absolutely amazing. If they approached me for that I'd leap at the opportunity to do it. But that's well away for the time being..."

Marvel Comics have showcased the all new version of Spider-Man after killing of Peter Parker.

Miles Morales is a half-black, half-Latino Nerdy Teenager that editor-in-chief Axel Alonso says "speaks to our rich cultural heritage" in the US.

Parker died in Ultimate Spider-Man Issue 160 in June during a fight with Green Goblin.

"Going into this we knew we wanted to make a statement about the 21st century," said Alonso.

Completists who can't resist anything either superhuman or alien will have a busy time at the cinema over the summer.

MICHAEL Caine has dropped a hint that although The Dark Knight Rises will be the last Batman from Christopher Nolan, he may not be quite ready to say goodbye to Alfred the butler just yet.

When asked about the future of the Batman franchise, he said: "I think it will be the last Batman movie that Chris Nolan will make. But I never say it's the last time for me for anything."

Batman is caught posing in a sneak backstage preview of his live tour which is set to visit Birmingham next month.

Visitors will see the action hero perform in a dazzling theatrical production featuring the story of how Robin comes to follow his idol, in a script adapted from thefamous DC Comics characters and stories.

It features a non-stop thrill ride across Gotham City transporting the audience from the Big Top of Haly's Circus to the lower depths of Arkham Asylum.

"The passion the creative team behind Batman Live shares for the character can be seen throughout every aspect of this production," said Geoff Johns, Chief Creative Officer, DC Entertainment.

"And the storyline, the origin of Robin, is something that is going to create a truly unforgettable live show," he added

Batman Live will be at the NIA Arena from 17 to 21 August.

MANY Hollywood stars, including Bradley Cooper and Justin Timberlake, wanted the role.

But Ryan Reynolds wasn't so sure if he wanted to star in Green Lantern and had to be talked into it.

In the end, it was the presence of Casino Royale director Martin Campbell which swung it.

"The first time I met Martin, I didn't have much interest in doing it," confesses Ryan, 34.

"But as I learned more I really saw the appeal. He's a Han Solo type and who wouldn't want to play that? Plus the opportunity to work with Martin was huge for me.

"There's a lot of fun with the character. Hal is witty, he's that guy who can throw a punch, tell a joke and kiss a girl."

Being able to fly sounds like a cool super power, but Ryan wasn't itching to take off. He had to overcome his fear of flying to film the scenes where Hal swoops through space.

"On the third day, they basically fired me 200 feet into the air at 60 feet per second, and that got me over it real quick," he chuckles.

"After a while, you start playing on these wires, and I was getting quite cocky by the end.

"I was wondering if we could find some way to actually transport me back to the hotel on the wires. I loved it - the best way to get over the fear is just to do it."

The Canadian, who is divorced from Scarlett Johansson, has been voted Sexiest Man Alive for three years running. In typical modest fashion, he says he doesn't know what makes him so attractive.

"It's individual for everybody. I always think that self-deprecation can be charming and sexy, but I don't know," he says sheepishly.

The latest big name to join up is Russell Crowe, who will play the role of Jor-El - Superman's father.

The role was most famously brought to life on screen by Marlon Brando, who played the part in Richard Donner's original Superman.

He joins Kevin Costner, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Henry Cavill and Diane Lane for what is shaping up to be a must see movie.

Jason Flemyng seems to be Matthew Vaughn's good luck charm having appeared in all four of the films he has helmed so far as well as a number of projects which he has produced.

The pair are reunited in X-Men: First Class, with the flame-haired Flemyng going red all over as Azazel, a devil-like figure who can teleport and is particularly deadly with his pointed tail.

We met up with the 44-year-old star of Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and discovered why it was second time lucky for his metamorphosis into a mutant (his appearance as Jekyll/Hyde in The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen notwithstanding)

How did you come to be involved in this project?

Matt had flirted with doing one of the other X-Men (The Last Stand) films early on so I was aware of them from before. They were actually auditioning me for Beast but that didn't happen (the role went to Kelsey Grammer)
So I could have been blue and hairy rather than red and slightly out of focus.

Have Matthew's working methods changed on this, his first big Hollywood film?

I don't think so. He has got good taste and he casts well. You have seen the results. He has managed to change genre and nail it each time.
Matthew is not very nomadic and he has his team of people who fluctuate through his movies. Unfortunately I have done them all because I am always available - unlike everyone else who seem to be a little more selective. It is an amazing thing to be on a movie this big and look out from the stage and see the same sound boys from Lock, Stock and some of the costume people from Lock, Stock.
The truth is that I was cast so that when he was annoyed with this lot (Kevin Bacon, Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy) and couldn't say anything he could turn to me and say 'Flemyng! You're an idiot'. That was my job, I took the abuse.

This film deals with the mutants struggle to accept themselves in a world that is hostile to those who are different. Is there anything about yourself that you have ever wanted to change?

Some of this film is about prejudice, about how people are perceived and about self-hate. I am one of the unknown minority of ginger haired people - actually as I have got older it has faded which is very depressing - and my wife told me when she was asked about me after we first got together she'd say 'he is ginger but he is really lovely'. I think that is a real indication of how people judge people without really realising they are doing it. And that is part of this story really. 

What do you think would be the best/worst mutant powers to have?

We came up with Oystero, the power to top up your Oyster card. Or Alphabetico, an OCD mutant power. You look at your DVD collection and it would automatically arrange itself. They're pretty lame powers.

This has a 12A certificate. Do you think it is okay to take younger children to see it?

Stardust was a PG. That had some witches that had their heads cut off and that scared me. And I was in it! But I used to get scared by frogs.
Things that scare one kid don't scare another. My godson watched all of George Romero's zombie films when he was nine and wasn't disturbed by them at all.
 It just depends on the kid. You can't really make that decision until he either bursts into tears and storms out of the cinema or says 'that was a great movie'.
