Woah, what happened to the last month? Went by so quickly I didn’t even notice! Got three great tracks I’ve been saving, by saving I mean listened to and failed to post instantly, smartphone required in immediate future. Starting off with the Madeon remix of Martin Solveig, both of whom I’ve really enjoyed listening to in the past, suggested from a friend. Reminds me slightly of Bag Raiders, please come back to us old friend. Second is the Viceroy remix of St Lucia, I really have to invest some more time into Viceroy, you should too. And lastly, a Fred Falke remix of Theophilus London, you can always count on Fred Falke for a quality remix. Really works well with the vocals as well.

So a remix attracted me to this, which we’ll end off with today. I’ve never really given much notice towards Lana Del Rey, maybe because her music has been beyond my scope, but here I am posting about her. I posted the original Blue Jeans for you just so you could tell the difference between the remixes. First off is the Gesaffelstein, wasn’t very liked on Hype but I thought the remix was amazing. That electric beat is genius, works well for the song. The remix probably didn’t get much attention because it was completely overshadowed by the RAC remix which is spectacular, yes I’ve looked through the thesaurus, not really. I love the fact that it’s so different from the original, not that I dislike the original, but I love it when remixers can pull it off properly. It’s not easy. Such a good beat to the RAC remix, I can listen to it everyday, it’s so CLEAN. None of that dubstep I just puked on myself bullshit sound. Check out their other remixes, fantastic!!

Well, seems the music might be getting better this year? First time in a while I took a look around on Hype Machine and actually liked some of the stuff being posted, and the lists weren’t being flooded by dubstep. You know I went to a party recently and everyone born after 1990 wanted dubstep, I was deeply saddened because dubstep is so prominent now and I’m old… Anyways, first time in a while, I’m happy to post some hits from this week. Starting off with the Calvin Harris remix if his own song Let’s Go. The original remix before I borrowed it said featuring Ne-Yo, it’s kind of funny because I felt like this track was everything from the original minus Ne-Yo… and my electronic music self likes it more. Yeah, I took out the “featuring” part. The Hey Champ remix of Housse De Racket Chateau, absolutely loving this one. More of this please music world. And lastly as I promised, a SebastiAn remix of The Shoes Time To Dance. Surprisingly not a lot of remixes for this track, and it’s been at least a year. That’s unfortunate.

What the fuck did I just watch? And when is the movie coming out? I have to admit, Jake Gyllenhaal as Hispter Killer was… spectacular. Thanks The Shoes for an interesting eight and a half minutes. Also bravo, you definitely got my and everyone else’s attention on your album Crack My Bones who hasn’t listened to it before. Remixes to be expected.

I had serious doubts on if I could continue this blog. It’s getting harder and harder to find the specific type of music I love, I fully blame that on the lack of time I have which I used to have to scour the internet. I’ve been settling for shitty remixes lately, the stuff that gets on the top 50 of Hype Machine and fully judging the scene based on that. Forget that, I’m not looking for the newest most popular anymore. I watched Drive a couple months ago and after hearing Kavinsky, I slowly developed my love again for this music. Kavinsky was one of the first house artists I listened to outside of the mainstream when I started blogging, I definitely remember obsessing over Testarossa Autodrive for nights on end. Him and SebastiAn really helped pull me into Electro House, obviously overlooking Daft Punk and Justice. I went from listening to almost exclusively indie rock to full out electro house in a matter of months, then it mutated into retro electro which was a word I made up to describe the weirder version of electro, basically what Futureflashs and Moullinex did. Anyways, reinvigorated!! Speaking of retro, the Lenno remix of Futurecop! Starrset, I can always depend on Futurecop! for that. Going back pretty far back, the Kavinsky remix of SebastiAn Embody. And two Robotaki remixes of Apparat Organ Quartet and Popular Computer.

Happy new year all! Sorry for not doing a top 10 this year, mainly because I don’t think I even listened to more than 10 new albums released from the year. Anyways, suggested by a friend, this got my attention pretty quickly. That’s pretty big because lately music hasn’t really gotten my attention. I’m obviously looking in the wrong places. I didn’t even know the indie electro scene in Japan went this direction, other than artists like Shinichi Osawa, but even then AMWE sounds more like electro artists from Belgium or the Netherlandsm at least in her first album I Am AMWE. I can’t exactly say the same thing about her more recently album Girls, seems like the record labels may have molded her a bit towards pop although it’s still great. Anyways, summing up my feelings about this; I love it. I’m only posting tracks from her first album this time around, I think my favorites from it would be Red Fascination, the obvious Friction Between The Lovers, and Bangin’ The Drum.

New Moullinex. I’m ecstatic. I love the build-up of his remix of Voltaire Twins Romulus, amazing track I can’t stop listening to. It’s the little things that count when it comes to Moullinex. You have to listen to the original as well, I’ve never heard of the Voltaire Twins but they’re sounding great on their own. Also included some of his other recent tracks, the remix of Gigamesh and of his original Sunflare.

Well, if I’ve never mentioned before; I’m doing my Masters in Science and I’m getting close to completing it aka shit’s hitting the fan. I just finished my big presentation, so all is calm for now until I have to start writing my thesis. Before any of that, holidays come first and the blog just got pushed back to near the top. Listening to music again, I actually haven’t really listened to much other than the big albums that came out recently for the last month. First time listening to Hype Machine in a while and hearing some great tracks, first on the list is the Adventure Club remix of Metric’s Collect Call which strangely reminds me of Ellie Goulding‘s Starry Eyed. The originals are vaguely similar, but the remix makes it a lot closer for me. Strangely enough, the Adventure Club remix is dubstep, but I don’t hate it. Very strange. Posting the Russ Chimes remix of Ellie Goulding with this. Next track is the Ipaneema mash-up Rock your Weapon at the Cinema which has the Madeon remix of Deadmau5‘s Raise Your Weapon, the Skrillex remix of Benny Benassi‘s Cinema, and a little shout out to MJ Rock With You at the beginning. I was going to post the Madeon remix as well because it’s such a great remix but I already posted it a while back. Lastly, the Royskopp remix of Kings of Leon The Immortals, intro threw me off a bit but what a great track.

Four tracks for you all! The Knight One remix of LIGHTS is mind blowing in the calmest way ever, I’m really liking it. Really going for the retro sounding route, I love that route. I haven’t listened to her newest album Siberia yet, I’ll have to give it a shot though. Don’t worry, I haven’t forgot about the other albums I was going to write about, but you know what? I like letting albums sit, people who push out reviews two weeks before the album is released probably regret half the things they say. I hated the new Justice album for the first week I listened to it, but changed drastically afterwards. At least my indecisiveness is predictable! I’ve been meaning to post this track for a while now, the Le Castle Vania remix of Kaskade. I haven’t posted this kind of electro since what feels like last year, but Le Castle Vania makes amazing remixes. His other remix which he released recently of Split & Jaxta Roulette is harsher sounding, I really needed something fast like this though. And one from the hit list, the Cazzettes remix of Spencer & Hill Believe It. It’s more club, but whatever I really liked the track.
