I found a way to do that! Since there are almost 2000 hi-res photos the total size on disk is somewhere near 4Gb.... my solution is also reducing that dramatically... Use this link to download them all:

The ending of this Championship was incredibly exciting, where the Brazilian top sailor Matheus Dellagnelo could crown himself the new World Champion, after winning both morning races. He didn’t even need to sail the last race, because his steady series guaranteed him the title.

The first morning race had a difficult start. Heavy winds, high waves, and a general recall twice in a row, caused the necessary delay. Curaçao’s hope for a top 10 spot, Kevin van Otterdijk, unfortunately suffered material damage right before the start and therefore could not compete in the 9th race. This left him with a lot of penalty points , but luckily after requesting a redress, the jury compensated him by granting him the redress and giving him an average score of his previous races.

The race was initially dominated by the Argentinean Francisco (“Panchito”) Renna, but halfway through the race he was overtaken by Dellagnelo. The Brazilian set the tone, won the second race as well, resulting in the World title.
The last race did not matter to the World title anymore. Alex Zimmerman marked the win in the last race, the other top sailors where in the front as well. In the final ranking, before mentioned Zimmerman, takes second place, followed by Renna. Best sailor from Curaçao is Ard van Aanholt with a 4th place overall. This is a very good result, because the quality of sailing should be highly estimated.

Former multiple World Champions David Loring and P.J. Patin from the USA only took 5th and 11th place respectively, multiple World Champion Smith from Bermuda was 15th, World Champion 2010, Jonathan Martinelli from Ecuador was 17th, and former World Champion in 1980, Cor van Aanholt, 19th.
The results for the Curaçao sailors was very satisfying: mentioned in 4th, Ard van Aanholt, Eugene Hendrikx in 9th, and Kevin van Otterdijk in 10th place.
The World Championship was a huge challenge for sailors as well as organizers. Great heavy weather conditions and the extreme depths of the sea so close to the coastline (600-800m) make Curaçao a unique and perfect location to hold big sailing events.

Matheus Dellagnelo is the 2011 Sunfish Worldchampion!

With an impressive and consistent series [3-1-(OCS)-2-6-2-3-2-1-1-(DNC)] Matheus Dellagnelo from Brasil won the Sunfish Worlds 2011. There appears to have been some oil in the harbor, and when the sunfishes returned home they noticed this oil still sticking on their boats. At their own initiative ‘Team Holland’ assisted by Jurgen Schneider and our own photo lady Marianne Lenos, decided to clean all the boats so that the sailors would find their boats spic & span for their last day of racing on Friday. A big and welcome surprise to the local organizers, who now could continue working on the last deciding days in peace.

Possible revange for Matheus?

Our unique

The tradewinds that always make for spectacular sailing moments, were replaced this morning by a rainshower, after which you need to wait and see if the wind will return.
Remarkably enough the wind was already blowing quite well during the start, though not as strong as the last couple of days. The pure heavy wind specialists were in a disadvantage this time, making the fine techniques of Alexander Zimmerman in the morning race, and of 1980! World Champion, Cor van Aanholt in the afternoon race, stand out.
Directly after the afternoon race, the fleet sailed downwind to the Harbour, the Annabay. Only a few decided to return to the beach of the Lions Dive Hotel. Almost simultaneously with the 62 sunfishes, a large tanker arrived at the mouth of the harbor. The sight of this threatening 62 boats counting fleet was so impressive that the tanker chose the high road and fled into the harbor with it’s tail between his legs.
Just a little later the immense fleet of beautifully colored Sunfish sails entered the Annabay, giving a salute to hosting country Curacao. The pictures speak for themselves and will be treasured in everyone’s memory.
There were towboats at hand to give tired sailors a lift back to the hotel, but only 5 sailors took this opportunity, the rest of the 57 die-hard sailors chose to sail home in relatively smooth weather conditions.

Sunfish World Championship 2011 Annabaai Parade

I'm editing a small clip of the parade right now! While waiting for results we received an USB stick with photos from Marianne Lenos (NED). At the moment we are working hard to get them uploaded, sorted and tagged. But there are over a zillion photos!
Unfortunately she too suffered with camera flaws, so not all pictures are as bright as we are used to. I deceided to upload anyhow, because it makes the sailing a little bit more extreme.

Please do not hesitate to comment on the pictures!
Eg: alablancacur: "Great pic's, THANK YOU !!! He's only 15 year old, I'm a very very proud Mother !!!!!"

Curaçao, already treated to a beautiful décor of 72 colorfull sunfish sails, is now even more spoiled with an incredibly suspenseful championship. Day 2 of the Sunfish Worlds had 3 races on its schedule. The wind was a little milder today, making it pleasant sailing for friend and foe, and making it possible for Curaçao to prove itself as a sailing paradise once again.
The early morning race was a South American get-together where Alexander Zimmerman from Peru and Matheus Dellagnelo from Brazil claimed the two top positions. Complementing the South Americans in the top 3 was Dutchman Mathieu de By.
With a bit shiftier but strong wind the fleet consisting of 72 boats began the fifth race immediately after the finish of the fourth. This race showed a spectacular battle between the ever strong Peruvian Zimmerman and Argentinean Francisco Renna. Zimmerman was able to hold the lead for quite some time, but the Argentineans sublime wavesurfing in the downwind leg brought him right by and passed the Peruvian.

This ‘bullet’ gave a taste for more and completely inspired, Renna managed to sail the last race of the day to victory as well. The top ten of this race showed a great variation in nationalities: in 7th was the first doubled nation, Curacao’s Eugene Hendrikx who only had his compatriot Ard van Aanholt in front of him in fourth place as well as the top representatives for the nations of Argentina, Brazil, Peru, The Netherlands and Venezuela.
The provisional intermediary results show the Brazilian Dellagnelo taking over the top position from multiple world champion David Loring from the USA.
At a fantastic 2nd place overall stands Curacao’s own, Ard van Aanholt. Breathing in his neck though are Alexander Zimmerman from Peru and Francisco Renna from Argentina, while David Loring dropped to 5th place and good steady sailor Mathieu de By took 6th.
Six spots, six nationalities, the event organizers are more than satisfied, the more even since all competitors experience sailing in these conditions as well as their stay on the Island as a true gift.
