Beginning May 4, 2009 you will have an opportunity to win up to 5 SunFlower Quilts quilt samples. Come see them on display now!
Here is how it works:For 5 consecutive weeks starting May 4th for every $10 of merchandise (excluding sales tax, gift certificates, custom quilts and class fees) that you purchase you will receive a ticket that may be drawn on the following Saturday at 4pm (you do not have to be present to win). For example if you purchase $10 in merchandise before tax you will receive 1 ticket. If you purchase $35 before tax you will receive 3 tickets and so on. The 5 quilt samples will be on display at the shop and online on our web site. After the drawing on Saturday we will discard the remaining tickets from the previous week and new opportunities for winning the next quilt will begin at 10am Monday for the following Saturday drawing. We will continue for 5 consecutive Saturdays! That means you could possibly WIN 5 quilt samples! Stars Across Texas by Wisteria Quilting Designs. We have a limited number of kits and we will begin signing up May 6, 2009! The quilt has 12 simple embroidered Texas motifs and a fabulous setting! The size is 52" x 66". It is a 12 month BOM and will cost $16.99 per month plus tax. As always if you pay in full when you sign up you will get 1 month free! The first kit will be available June 15, 2009 and kits will be ready the 15th of every month thereafter. All fabrics for the top, (including binding) will be included as well as all embroidery floss and patterns. You will receive all the finishing fabrics in the 12th month kit. This is a charity quilt the 2008 Thimbleberies Club members participated in together. Isn't the quilt wonderful!
The quilt will be donated to a retreat center called "Faith's Lodge" located in Wisconsin who's mission is:
The mission of Faith's Lodge is to provide a place where parents and families facing the serious illness or death of a child can retreat to reflect on the past, renew strength for the present, and build hope for the future. Each family that comes to Faith's Lodge gets to pick a donated quilt to take home to help them through the healing process. Ovarian Cancer Sew In a HUGE Success!

On Sunday Jan.18th from 2-8pm several Houston area quilters and quilt shops met toegther at Gethsemane Lutheran Church to sew predominately teal coloered quilts for the 2nd annual MD Anderson Ovarian Cancer Awareness Quilt Project.
The quilts will be auctioned online this October 2009 to raise money for Ovarian Cancer reserach benifiting the Blanton - Davis Ovarian Cancer Research Center. 68 quilts were donated last year which raised $11,440 and hope to top the amount this year!

Ovarian Cancer Sew In-THIS SUNDAY!!

The quilt shops from the Wild Wild West Shop Hop will host a Sew-In for the Ovarian Cancer Awareness Quilt Project this Sunday from 2-8pm at Gethsemane Lutheran Church at 4040 Watonga, Houston, TX 77092.

Come help design, cut, pres, and sew teal colored quilt tops together with fellow quilters for a rewarding experience. No sewing experience necessary to help. If your interested in learning how to sew this is a great way to start!

BBQ beef and chicken will be provided. Please bring a side dish or dessert for dinner at 5:00pm. Here is a list of things you can bring:
1. come ready to enjoy a rewarding sewing experience!
2. sewing machine if you want to sew
3. rotary cutter, mat, and ruler if you want to cut
4. irons if you want to press (ironing boards will be provided)
5. pins if you want to design tops on carpeted walls
6. side dish or dessert for dinner at 5:00pm (BBQ beef and chicken will be provided)

We have almost 300 - 1 yard hugs and will collect them until Dec. 20th. So please keep bringing them in!

New Laurel Burch fabric just arrived! The fabric is from Clothworks and it's called "Secret Jungle"! Come check it out before it sells out!

CLASS UPDATE:
Our next charm school is Saturday Dec. 20th at 9am sharp. Come learn to make a quilt using 5" charm squares. You can order the charm pack for charm school on our web shop or go to our web site for more information.

Our shop is in full swing for Christmas! We constantly get new fabric in and have new specials; come stop by and check out all the new things happening around the shop!

Christmas Ornament Contest

A great big thank you to all who participated in the Christmas Ornament Contest to help decorate our tree! We received around 100 gorgeous handmade ornaments from our customers this year! We took our decorated tree to The Cottage of Spring Branch for their residents to enjoy. The Cottage of Spring Branch residents and staff were so surprised and felt much love by all the beautiful ornaments made especially for them!

Three winners were chosen and received prizes. The winners are:
1. Kim Cagle - $50 gift certificate
2. Carolyn Conant - 1 bundle of Christmas fat 1/4's
3. Joan Lauderdale - $10 gift certificate
Congratulations to the winners and thank you to everyone who participated! Remember the greatest gift is to give of yourself this holiday season!
