Hello friends. Are you having a good week? I participated in Our Daily Bread’s Forgotten Embellishments this week. These buttons were truly forgotten; I bought them, and discovered I really had no place to use them. How thankful I am that I found a use over at Our Daily Bread Designs.

Sunset Swirls

Hi stampers. Welcome to my weekly tutorial where today I will showcase brayer work and masking. It is lots of fun, so let’s get started.

Supplies: ink, swirl stamp, sponge, stamp, Post-it Notes

More ink

Punch a hole in the Post-it Note. Be sure to punch it down low so that the sticky part will stick nicely. Sponge on your sun colour.

Create a mask with a Post-it Note by hole punching near the top so the sticky will stick nicely over the sun. Brayer on the colour of your sky as shown here.

Sponge a darker colour of blue around the upper corners and along the top.

Create a background by using colours that coordinate in both the foreground and background.

Stamp swirls on the background.

Using a scrap from the brayer work, stamp a sentiment onto the background and adhere to your image.

Happy Labour Day Weekend!

To brighten your day, I have a bright sunflower for you. I couldn’t resist buying this stamp from Flourishes.

The ric rac and large scallop comes from My Favorite Things. Notice the newsprint? It comes from a very large S-Z five language dictionary I found at Pete’s Boutique, aka the junkiest and dirtiest flea market I’ve seen–but I love it! I added “boutique” to Pete’s place just to be funny. It makes my friends laugh, which is what it’s all about.

Happy Friday. Do you have big plans? Donnie and I are going to have a quiet time at home, while making plans for our holidays in a week.

Today’s thank you card uses the Faux Domino technique from the Technique Junkie Newsletter. I made this for our friend who generously picked up our doors and delivered them to our house, and put all five doors up for us. As usual, Donnie and I continue on renovations for our humble little condo. It is 33 years old and none of the previous owners did any work on it. Needless to say, there is so much work to do.

ODBD Texture It Challenge

Hello friends. It’s the middle of the week and time for me to take part in ODBD Texture It challenge. One of my favourite spiritual sayings is this beautiful one I used today. September’s release is already out and there is a blog hop to win a gift certificate, so hop on over.

My background was embossed and distressed. The green on my card was cut with the large rick rack border from My Favourite Things.

Mom, if you are reading this, notice that my turquoise matches my pink and purple. My mom is now beading and I tried to tell her, over the phone, what colours work together.

Creating Your Own Chipboard

Creating your own chipboard is very easy. My chipboard is gold, but you can paint yours any colour. See how easy it is.

Gesso a cereal box. If you gesso the shiny side, sand off the shine. Otherwise, gesso the backside.

Paint over your gesso. I used gold. Dry completely before embossing.

Well, it’s Saturday again. When you are reading this Sharon, Carol and I will be on our way to the Cleveland area for a workshop. In the meantime I have a journal page–Teesha Moore Style. It is a long prcess that is more difficult than I thought. Sharon and I get together to cheer each other on.
