7 Shows That Are Better Than Scandal

On twitter I wrote "Walking Dead > Scandal", to which someone(black chick) responded "#liestoldonTwitter". Don't get me wrong Scandal is a good show, but the writing of Scandal is not f^cking with Walking Dead, as a matter of fact Scandal's writing and developing plots are not f^cking with a lot of shows on television right now. Scandal is a good show but I'm not sold yet, here are "7 Other Shows That Sh!t on Scandal":

Walking Dead
This isn't exactly your average story about zombies and sh!t. The boy ~~main character~~ Rick wakes up in the hospital and the zombie epidemic has begun. The first season is basically, "how do we cope in a world with zombies?" Then the second season is "the hunt for shelter and stability, how do we build lives in an post-apocalyptic world". The third season which just started up again now moves from the danger of zombies to the threat of man. Zombies are only the setting or background in this world, the protagonists and antagonists are the people that vie for power in this zombie world. Not to mention if you're familiar with "Walking Dead" this season Rick has lost his f^cking mind. I don't even like horror, but they delve deep into the horror of human nature on this show.

Mad Men
Don Draper of Mad Men might be one of the most complex characters on tv right now. His story, his job, his lovelife...Don Draper is an ad-man(professional advertiser), probably the best damn ad-man. He's passionate about his job, he doesn't speak much and doesn't take "no" for an answer. In this show he is the epitome of the traditional white collar man. Words really can't do this masterpeice justice, it's just great. The dialogue, the characters, it's near my top shows.

Breaking Bad
Focuses on a chemistry teacher named Walter White recently diagnosed with cancer that begins to cook and sell meth. In the event that he dies to support his family, which are his b!tching wife, a son with cerebral palsy, and a new born baby...oh yeah and a brother-in-law that is DEA and trying to catch this big meth dealer whom just happens to be Walter. Man just check this show out.

Boardwalk Empire
Nucky Thompson, Chalky White, and the unpredictable Gyp Rosetti are my boys let me just get that out of the way. This is a gangster show centered around the life a New Jersey bootlegger Nucky Thompson during the prohibition period, where gangsters like Al Capone were on the rise. This show is just well-written to the T. Even the way they portray Al Capone is different than any other show or movie that I've seen.

Game of Thrones

So at first I couldn't really get into the "Game of Thrones". I didn't really understand it, then I just sat down one night and gave this mediaeval, fantasy show a try and it grew on me. Finally, I understood phrases such as "Winter is Coming" and other sh!t. Not to mention they have zombies in this show too, but they call 'em "white walkers". Where fantasy usually sucks is when the show slows down and the writers just begin to make up sh!t, but not with Game of Thrones. So far, so good. The plot is basically families vying for power in the medieval time with fanatasy sprinkled in and this show also has no problem killing key players, which I believe must be a trait of a well-written show.

Dexter

Yeah, I almost gave up on Dexter the first time I saw it too. However, this is one of those peculiar and quirky shows that will grow on you. So check it out! Dexter is a blood spatter analyst at a homicide precinct in Miami and he also happens to moonlight as a vigilante serial-killer. I think that's enough to get you to watch it and if you happen to make it to about the 4th/5th season you'll be hooked.

Suits
Suits is a new favorite of mine, I just got hip to it about a month ago and have been watching ever since. Basically, its about a top lawyer at a firm who hires an associate that doesn't have a degree, but is a genius and has a lot of street smarts. Throughout the season they help each other, hide their secret and win cases. And not to mention a true strong black woman character played by Gina Torres. However, the mindf^cking that goes on in this show or the outsmarting not only legal clients but fellow colleagues demonstrates the best of legal/professional politics and writing. Mike gets on my nerves sometimes but Harvey sets him straight when need be.

The Less You Trust, the Less You're Trusted

Isn't trust such a fickle thing? One irrevocable act can destroy all the trust you built with someone in one swell swoop. Not even love can die so quickly, love has to be beaten over and over agian. Love has to be hung, shot, and burned to ash. Even in that state, the smallest breathe of air can ignite the ember that once was or that still is. And yet again love can breathe, grow and engulf the heart of the one that loves. Love is a virus, trust is an infection.

True, people can do things that make you not trust them which is understandable. One would be a fool to see someone's actions and not judge them based off of them. Or to see someone's past actions and not deal with them accordingly. No one wants to be betrayed, lied to, or even worse made a fool of. Trust is all about the intimacy and the willingness to commit to someone based on how you feel about them. Trust has clauses and agreements. Trust is conditional.

However, the more you trust someone the more they trust you. The less you trust them the less they will trust you. People base their faith in the person they trust, based on that person's perceived faith in them. It's a reciprocal act.

There's a Seat Here!: Why Black Men Don't Go to Church?

Men in the black community that are grown enough to forego or have some sort of autonomy over their Sunday, usually don't go to church. Women are stuck between urging their partner to go to service with them or giving up on the request altogether. Even though it's not a complete deal breaker, women want to know "Why doesn't my man/boyfriend want to go to church with me?" It wouldn't even be an overstatement to say it hurts a woman when a man dismisses accompanying her to the Lord's house. Honestly, theSUNK doesn't know all the answers, but here are a few assumptions on why black men don't go to church:
The Message Isn't Clear
Some churches aren't delivering a relevant message to its black men. The message becomes unclear for black men when it seems the preacher is spewing abstract words full of promise rather than plans that are actually tangible and constructive. The disconnect between what is said and what is done is a turn off for black men. Men are very skeptical with who they trust and who they are willing to give authority to. If the authority is questioned, than the message will be as well.

Too Much Preaching and Not Enough Teaching
Men like to taught. Men like to walk away with a lesson. Some pastors lack the median between preaching and teaching. Preaching sounds like an attack, but to be taught something is to be saved. Hopefully, when you're taught you won't make those mistakes.

Too Theatrical

Passion is great. People respond to passion. But when you start flailing your arms, sweating profusely and dabbing your forehead with your handkerchief between every word you say; we can't take you seriously. People running around the church, a symphony of "umm hmms" and "preach" sound like disorganized clutter to a man that wants a seriousness when he comes to pray. Not that it has to be too serious, but serious enough to come off legitimate rather than stereotypical and off-putting.

Preaching for Profit
Where is my money going? Men don't want to support an enterprise that's preaching for dollars. The dollars are there to maintain and support the youth, not to be spent on a Cadillac or mega church for the preacher. Men have an aversion to be in lamer terms "played". Black men are skeptical of institutions altogether; hospitals, government, and even churches.

Diners That We All Hate to Go Out and Eat With

Everyone enjoys food. More importantly people like to go out and enjoy good food with one another. Thus we schedule dinner, lunch, or breakfast dates with the sole intention of sharing wisdom and enjoying good eats. Most of the time it's fun, other times not so much. Nonetheless, this is just a random list of people we all hate to be stuck at a restaurant with:

Mr/Mrs. No Inside Voice

Have yo ever sat next to the person that left their inside voice outside? You're sitting across the table from them and they act as if you were across the street. All the things you were trying to keep on the low these mothaf^ckas blurt out.

Mr/Mrs. Inappropriate
Everyone has a friend that discusses things at the most inopportune time. The friend that makes everyone at the table feel weird and awkward. The one person that you wish could keep a lid on it every once and awhile. The best time to talk about *insert names* behavior might not be while *insert names* is sitting right there. Everything was cool just a bite ago?

Mr/Mrs. You Want That?

Extra hungry mothaf^ckas wanna eat they plate and watch you eat yours. Trying make you pick sh!t they haven't eaten before so they can finish your plate with the quickness.

Mr/Mrs. Indecisive

Bad tippers are the worst to go out and eat with. If going out to eat wasn't already expensive enough you gotta make up for a bad tipper's bad tip. Some people don't even tip. SO you gotta pay for your meal, tip, and tip for a mothaf^cka that doesn't tip so you don't look bad. But that's an easy problem to solve, just don't invite that uncouth excuse for a diner the next you go out to eat.

Approaching men or being approached by men should have become pretty easy or at least do-able by now. However, approaching a woman is new terrain that most need prepping for. Here are 7 tips to approaching a woman for women:

1. Initiate conversation of a general mutual interest. Give her a compliment and see how she responds.

2. Test the waters. Once you think she's open- be upfront, flirt a little. (reel in the bait) But let her know that you would very well go through with your actions.

3. Listen closely, sometimes woman are vocal about what they want or are willing to do, but just are not direct with their actions.

4. Just ask. Let her know what/why you want to get frisky and see what she says. Let her know you have full intentions of pleasing her and what you like about her body. Don't be afraid to be aggressive just be the platform for which she can act.

5. Make sure she's in a comfortable environment. Girls want to get wild but most times they want to maintain their image of not being too slutty. Catch her in the bathroom or in the car to test the waters.

Is He Just Showing You Attention or Pursuing You?

Plenty of women get attention from men. Men have short attention spans and move from fat ass to big chest in search of one that will really garner their interest. One thing you should know however, is the difference between attention and pursuit.

Attention is short-lived and often times cheap, because many share it. It's given to many in the attempt to capture at lease one. You can give many things your attention and make all of them feel attended to. Most of the time none of those things will feel neglected or left out. In doing so, you can achieve whatever results you wanted with each of these interests. Attention often times doesn't require commitment that's why it's cheap. Attention doesn't require sacrifice, which is why it's ultimately more traveled than pursuit.

In contrast when you talk about pursuit, you're talking about an undivided attention. A pursuit usually involves romance and patience. A man that pursues you doesn't rush and is captivated by your elusiveness. He doesn't view you as tiresome, but as an adventure that is worthwhile. Pursuit is a fixation on an object to obtain and hopefully cherish. When you find a man that is pursuing you rather than just giving you attention you will feel it in the way he treats you and caters to you. You will feel the warmth of his intentions.

Sexipe 003: Curry Chicken Marinated in Coconut Milk

Give your man or ol' lady a treat. What's sexier than cooking spicy or Caribbean food with a myriad of flavors and scents. Once your boo walks in the house they will be overwhelmed by the simmering curry chicken, the fragrance of moist and light coconut rice, and the earthiness of boiling cabbage. Make love to their senses and the rest will follow. Below is the recipe for Curry Chicken Marinated in Coconut Milk:

Ingredients-
Chicken Thighs
Chicken Stock
Curry Paste(Thai cuisine inspired)
Curry Powder(spicy)
Coconut Milk
Lime
Onion
Ginger
Few Gloves of Garlic
Paprika
Salt & Pepper

First, marinade your chicken thighs, drumsticks and wings (dark meat) in coconut milk and curry powder for a few hours or however long you would like. I chose the dark meat because it has a little more flavor and variety than chicken breasts.

Once the chicken is done marinating, take them out of the coconut milk bath and season them with salt, pepper, paprika, and more curry powder.

Next, sauté your fresh ingredients such as the garlic and diced onion. Once your onions have browned and become translucent add your chicken. Saute this until the chicken has browned and has gained a nice crust; you're simply looking to brown not to thoroughly cook the chicken at this moment.

After the chicken has browned pour in some chicken stock, a generous amount of coconut milk, and a few spoonfuls of curry paste. The chicken should be somewhat submerged in the liquid because this is when you will throw in your diced ginger(fragrance/sweetness) and allow the chicken to simmer for a good 25 to 30 minutes.

Finally after your chicken has simmered taste the broth or curry sauce to see if it is seasoned to your liking, if not curry powder or curry paste is your best friend. Allowing the chicken to simmer should've made the chicken extremely tender...falling right off the bone, if not simmer longer. Once the chicken is done, garnish with some fresh lime zest and juice. Enjoy.

MackVice: How Should I Approach This Guy?

One of my readers wants to get busy with a guy that has been around for two years, but doesn't know exactly how to. They've both been vocal about how they've felt, tried once and failed, and neither has since made the first move or really put themselves out there. So she emailed theSUNK for some advice, I gave her something even better, it's called MackVice:

I came across your blog via "A fat girls blues" fb post & have literally read every post twice...you are good! I was conflicted on reaching out, but as the saying goes, it never hurts to ask.

I met a guy nearly 3 years ago following a terrible breakup. Since meeting, we have really just been distant friends for the most part. I cant count time against him, bc until 1 year ago, I was attached to my ex physically/emotionally, which he didn't know bc it never came up. Early on we attempted to have sex, but I just couldn't bc my heart/head wasn't in the right place & since then, it just hasn't come up. To be honest, I wasn't experienced, had only been with my ex & my resistance/ his difficulty penetrating put a bad taste in his mouth. He told me I should maybe practice with dildos and such, so yeah, total fail. Fast forward, a few more inconsistent kick its & I find myself still wanting this man. We are both single, but I don't know how to approach him. I've seen him for the first time in a year (he moved to Ga, im in Al) and we kicked it, started off rough (communication isn't our strong point) but ended ok. During the visit, he didn't make a move strong enough for me to respond to. At bedtime, u could have laid a midget sideways btw us, which threw me off. All this to say...I want this man, I just don't know how to get him or how to figure out if he wants me.

I know one of the things that bothers him about me is my insecurities....im a fluffy girl, which he favors, but he likes the bold kind, which im not. So, how can I or should I even approach this man? We have in the past admitted to really liking each other, but neither one of us acted on it. I don't know why we both continue to contact each other, him more so than me, but he is not saying anything& neither am I??? From a male perspective, what do I do? So, how can I or should I even approach this man?

Don't let a failed first attempt detour you. Just f^ck this guy already, you want it and he wants. Sex can sometimes be awkward but that's what makes it special. If the sex is wack try harder next time. Still wack after that, have a discussion about what you all can do better. 2.5 years is too long to be going back and forth over sex, when you should really be in the bedroom tossing that ass back. I don''t mean to be crude. But you've felt him out long enough and it's obvious you like him. And you're 28, by now you should be comfortable in your own skin. If not you should at least be doing things that are adventurous enough to make you comfortable in your own skin.

The funny thing is you also say, "I want this man, I just don"t know how to get him or how to figure out if he wants me." When later on you also say, "We have in the past admitted to really liking each other, but neither one of us acted on it."

You already know he wants you. You don't even have to put yourself all the way out there. Make a move. Send him a "I Want You" text. Come to the bed naked next time. Kiss him. DO SOMETHING. You can have fun through sexting without ruining your personal and romantic life forever, you just have to be clever.

No Identifying Properties
Tattoos, birthmarks, jewelry, school/work trademarked things, and/or house backgrounds are not permissible. Even if you didn't put your face in a sext, some people will go to amazing lengths to identify you in a sext. Not as many women have a cupcake tattooed on their ass as you may think. How many chicks with a booty as fat as yours volunteered at *insert organization* last summer? Exactly. Take anything that is specfic to you out of that picture.

Be the Best That You Can Be
So you gotta include your face in the pic, because you didn't want to take my advice. Well if you are gonna put your face in the pic, make that pic the sexiest sext that you could possibly send. Nobody wants to be in the twitterverse as the next joke or trending topic. Make it look like you intended to be on the internet and own that picture. The best way to combat negative publicity is to own it like you did it on purpose.

The Sextually Bartering System
The S.B.S. is when you have a guy or girl send a picture that is equally incriminating as the picture you intend to send. If you send your twat with your face in it, he sends the same type of picture. If he ever outs you on the internet, you got the same ammunition to embarrass him. A trade for a trade; guys usually get defensive when you ask for pictures in return. However don't let that detour you, keep it on the same playing field. Don't let him get an advantage.

7. Man Up! Grown azz men make decisions. You choose the time and place; you make the date. Sure you can ask her what she likes, but you do the rest. Otherwise she gonna choose some place outta your price range and you gonna feel all stupid and resentful. And if the bitch shows up in stilettos, please make sure it’s a “sit down” date worthy of her outfit. And by worthy I don’t mean expensive cuz first dates don’t gotta be expensive.

I went out with this one guy (and y’all know I was dressed up and looking cute) and all we did was get some 7-11 and go sit in park and talk. It was a nice first date….where he fucked up was when he told me, he pretends to be a cop and sometimes people think he’s a real one.

5: This one should be simple but by the end of summer, I found out it ain’t! Grown azz men know surprises ain’t good for first dates.
