Indian Creek Hillside Fire

Sunday afternoon lightning in the hills northeast of the valley caused a hillside conflagration that roared a column of smoke into the sky. Approximately 238 acres(1) of steep sagebrush slope above Indian Creek near Hailey burned. The blaze was responded to by local & Bureau of Land Management fire crews who contained the flames with the help of helicopter and aerial tankers.

Steve Ferguson of Sun Video Productions was on the scene & kindly dropped of this video footage of the events, combining some scenics of the dramatic early evening skies rainbows, thunderheads & sunset.

The photograph was taken from the opposite hillside to the south on the following day. Glimpses of the charred hillsides can be seen from Hwy 75 looking toward Ohio Gulch & from locations in Hailey as well.

Sun Valley Lodge Corn Can

Seen for sale on eBay – a vintage Sun Valley Lodge Corn Can. Description – It was packed by the Idaho Canning Co. in Payette, Idaho or Nyssa, Oregon. The canning company logo on the can has a 1937 copyright date. The label is printed with information about Sun Valley Lodge, stating that the lodge is an emblem of the perpetual snows and brilliant sunshine of Idaho’s mountains and valleys. There are wonderful graphics on the label picturing skiers standing in the snow and looking down upon the lodge. The can and label are in good condition. The can was opened on the bottom, so when it is sitting on a shelf, it appears to be an unopened can. There are a few rust spots inside the can, but the outside looks good. The label is in good condition, although there is a slight amount of wear along the lower edge where it was opened by a can opener. The can measures 3″ in diameter and is 4 3/8″ tall.

Wish You Were Here..

Johnny V & the Wingmen are back tonight 8/3 at the Wicked Spud’s Back Alley Party in Hailey for a full performance of Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here” as performed live by Pink Floyd in 1977.

Last year the Wingmen performed the complete “Dark Side of the Moon” (pictured below) and bring tonight’s concert as a follow-up with many of the same musicians along with a few new ones.

Raffle & beer sales benefit Camp Rainbow Gold. Johnny V is offering a copy of Dark Side of the Moon autographed by the album’s engineer Alan Parsons for the Raffle.
Starts at 6pm.

“The band is just fantastic, that is really what I think.
Oh by the way, which one’s Pink?”

Up A Creek returns to the Back Alley Party in Hailey – July 6, 2011. The roots of this band in various incarnations go back to the very first back alley party & despite usually drinking most of the beer they are embraced as the unofficial house band of the event & welcomed back each summer. Word is they spent the dark of the winter months holed up in their Bellevue shed creating new classics to add to their repertoire. So come on down & kick up a heel.

Proceeds support Sun Valley Adaptive Sports & Wood River Ability Program.
