It has yet to arrive, as I literally * just * ordered it. Ha ha! So, no need for me to wait on my doorstep for it. But, I am so excited, I can hardly contain myself! I've been waiting a very long time for this!

Here is the exact Lemon Tree that I ordered, well, the exact product listing for it :

Expect to hear updates about my lemon tree regularly :-)

So, what should we name it? Hehe.

This eliminates waste and saves you money! It's great for the environment! :-)

For example! Instead of throwing away an Avocado Seed that came out of the most delicious avocado, I decided "Hey' why not!?" I dried the seed out for about a week. Planted it and kept the soil moist until it was established and "TADA!"

This is the beautiful, baby Avocado tree, that I almost threw into the garbage when it was only a seed.

And I've spoken before about my Granny Smith Apple Trees that I grew from a seed that was inside of a store-bought apple. Clearly, I absolutely love the idea of regrowing food!

Here is the complete list of Foods that you can ReGrow! :

Gardening : Re-Growing Store-Bought Food

Here are some of the articles about regrowing store bought food :

Sprout Granny Smith Apple Tree Seeds

Re Grow Store-Bought Ginger Root

Grow Store-bought Garlic

Sprout Roots from an Avocado Seed

Some foods are obviously easier to grow than others. Still, I highly recommend that you try most of my methods for regrowing uneaten or unusable foods.

Don't forget, a lot of food that can't be regrown, can be composted. Learn about Composting here >>>
June 2014

The time has finally come. I'm going to be ordering only a few chickens, well baby chicks. I'm going to learn how to take care of them as best as possible and I encourage you to check back often as I plan to document the process here. Sunny Farms is coming along nicely considering I'm working with such limited space. But the good news is, I'm looking around for farm land, and I hope to be moving onto my very own farm, as soon as possible. :-}

I will be thoroughly researching the subject and hopefully I'll have my baby chicks by mid-July.
I have had to wait even longer before I can finally meet my chickens. I'm going to be moving into a new house, sometime (hopefully soon) before the Summer of 2015.

*UPDATE*

I will have my chickens before the end of Summer 2014 !!!

You Know :

I don't want to be somebody who is willing to go to the supermarket to buy some eggs yet I wouldn't know how to raise and care for real chickens if my life depended on it.

Another thing is this :

So many of my family and friends act as if I've gone mad when I mention raising my own chickens for eggs. It only makes me want to Raise My Own Chickens even more and prove to them that eggs don't come from grocery stores!

I want to succeed with raising chickens and show people just how easy it is to raise your own chickens. Free-Range Organic "Farm" raised chickens are better for your health, better for the environment, the process is better for the chickens, it's just plain better for your family!

Now here is how I'm preparing for my chickens :

I'm learning all kinds of information about raising chickens. I'm building a small-scale chicken coop, since I won't have too many chickens until I get the hang of things and move onto a few acres of land. *My Farm!* :-) I'm researching which type of chickens I want and where I'll buy them from. I'm deciding if I want to hatch eggs or buy live chicks... I'm also going to be writing articles about egg farming for this blog and for other sites. I will be posting the links for any chicken and/or poultry related articles here on this blog so Stay Tuned!

See you next time,

* RainFern *

It's been a while so I thought that I'd give you an update about my "mini apple orchard".

I have had quite a few Granny Smith Apple Seeds sprout and then die for one reason or another. Mostly because I had the baby apple sprouts sitting in the (almost) direct sun and I didn't water them for a day or two.

Once I realized that had I fried a few of the apple trees with the help from the heat of the sun and that I only had two small apple tree sprouts left, I moved the remaining 2 Granny Smith apple trees further under the patio where they receive more hours of indirect sun and only one or two hours of direct sun. I have also stayed on top of watering the baby trees. I've watered them at least every 2 days for the entire summer.

My family and friends want me to plant the baby apple trees in the ground to get them out of the tiny flower pots. I on the other hand, would like to take these apple trees with me when I move out. I'm thinking that the tiny trees will be alright in the larger pots that I had transplanted them into, all of the way until the Summer of 2010 when I move into a new house. I may still have to upgrade the trees to larger pots once or twice before then.

What do you think?
I'm really excited I can hardly wait to see my first egg! Even though that will be months from now.

I don't have any chicks yet but I plan to bring some home, sometime within the month of June. It might help if I got some pictures and I'm working on that. I've learned so much about raising chickens and it makes me want to do it even more. I think everybody should raise their own chickens but that's a whole other story.

I will be taking pictures, recording video and writing articles throughout the entire chicken raising and egg farming process. So that, if your interested, you too can raise your own chickens and have farm fresh eggs any time that you want them.

This is going to be an adventure! The Urban Chicken Coop Adventure! Unless you like the thought of your breakfast eggs coming from chickens that get abused daily then I suggest you stick around and enjoy learning from my experience.

Stay Tuned for important chicken updates.

As always , Thanks for stopping by!

* SunnyStars *

Mini Apple Orchard

I have four baby, Granny Smith Apple Trees and they are growing super fast!

Who knows, tomorrow might bring me another apple tree sprout but in the event that none of the remaining seeds that I'm trying to germinate happen to sprout, I'm still quite happy the with my four healthy baby apple trees.

Visit my Garden log to learn more!

SunnyStars Garden Blog
(Click on the label "Granny Smith Apple" to learn more!)

See you there!

- SunnyStars

Raising Chickens

I have been looking around for a place to buy my chickens from.
