What do you think sets you apart from other artists? honesty. I'm willing to risk a lot if it means that my fans will get a truly enjoyable listening experience. One that doesn't make them feel like they're being taken for a ride.

You were born in Brazil and you now reside near Tampa, Florida in Spring Hill. How do you think the different scenery has effected your style as a lyricist?  I don't recall much about Brazil, because i was only born there. New York had a (obviously) huge influence on my songwriting. Just being so close to everything. The era that we now read about in magazines. It was an exciting time for a kid who loved hip hop. Moving to spring hill and being an isolated jaded new yorker (back then, at least) kind of forced me to find something to occupy my time with. Music became that something.

I'm in Orlando and I know the scene here is pretty bland. What inspiration do you draw from living in Spring Hill? Bland, huh? I know a few guys out there, who I consider my peers, trying to keep it alive. Critical Madness (even though they've relocated, i still consider them o-town), Mad illz/drect/kap kallous with the whole Grind Time battle movement. Alias the addikt. There's gems everywhere, you just have to be willing to dig deep enough to find them. Unfortunately, most music fans aren't. Spring Hill is the same way. There are many hidden treasures in the woods, as far as talent goes.  Inspiration to me is passing by the skid row of strip clubs where half of my graduating class works.

One of my favorite tracks on your mixtape, 4:57PM, would have to be "Hold You Down" produced by DJ Khalil. It sounded like a Dr. Dre and Eminem collaboration. Who do you look up to in terms of hip hop artists?  Thanks, I'm fond of that record too. And i definetley channeled my Eminem influence for that one. I look up to the great lyricists that knew how to leave an impact wherever they went. Jay, Nas, Kanye, Pun, Em, Mos, Jada, Andre 3000.

With your mixtape, I was feeling a real nice mix of rock and hip hop. Along with your flow, it's a different style in general for Florida and the South. What reactions are you anticipating? They're either gonna love me or hate me. There will be no in-between. As long as the people that are looking for an artist like me, can find me. That's all i care about. Let me connect with my people.

In the years ahead, where do you see yourself?  Freelance masked crime-fighter by night.

If there was one thing you could tell Hip Hop, what would you say?  Thank you for giving me a reason to wake up in the morning and deal with the world's bullshit.

Album Review: Ludacris "Battle Of The Sexes"

Ludacris released his 7th studio album, "Battle of the Sexes",
today, right on time for Spring Break.
It's been a minute since we heard from him,
but Luda didn't let us down per usual
w| his 1st single, "How Low".

He played his cards right when
he put Nicki Minaj on his 2nd
single, "My Chick Bad",
b|c they both share that aggressive delivery.
On his slow jam w| Trey Songz,
"Sex Room", Trey definitely owned the song.
Two of his songs, "Can't Live With You"
ft. Monica && "Everybody Drunk" ft. Lil Scrappy,
were already in rotation in the clubs
&& mixtape scene since last fall maybe.
The "Everybody Drunk" on my iTunes
features Shawnna instead of Lil Scrappy though.
He did an okay job w| featuring 8 females
[being that it is a "battle of the sexes" album]
but I feel like it would be cool to see him
rapping w| the females on more than 6 of his 15 songs.
Overall, it will be in my iPod during this Spring
Break && I'm pretty sure y'all will be bumpin it too.

Mixtape Review: Fabolous "There Is No Competition II [The Funeral Service]"

Well, Fabolous finally dropped his
second installment for his, There
Is No Competition, series.
This time he's out to bury
niggas, w| the help of DJ Drama.
His first installment was successful...
wish I could say the same about this one....

The intro song, "The Wake", is hot
as are the 2 songs following it,
"I'm Raw" && "Body Ya".
Then Fab takes a turn &&
decides to hit us w| a beat that we've
heard since summer on "Oh Let's Do It" && fails.
He also makes a bad move by spittin
over Jay Electronica's "Exhibit C" in
"Exhibit F", Clipse's "Popular Demand", &&
Roscoe Dash's "All The Way Turnt Up"
[w| Trey Songz of all people], just to name a few.
Am I the only one done w| those beats?!
I must tip my hat to his "For The Money"
featuring Nicki Minaj which he rapped over "Lemonade".
Having Minaj on there was a good look.
I really expected more being that he pushed
the release date so far back, but
at the end of the day, I'm a Fabolous fan.
I liked a couple songs but I've heard better from him.

the stage name is Eye-Oh or Ayo/ "Yo" as everybody who knows me seems to identify with...(haha)

I didn't realize you were 17 until the "Bonus Track" played, you sound much older than your peers. Where do you think your maturity comes from?

well, actually im not 17 any more im 20 but i did make that track at 17. I'd say my maturity comes from life experience and my drive to "know about" as opposed to just guessing at things that affect me (though he who knows anything knows that he knows nothing at all)

What was the goal and thought process when creating your latest mixtape, "AyodejiSoPayMe"?

honestly... i have alot of musical influences and throughout the years i've noticed alot of those artists as well as some entertaining newcommers, surpassing myself in being know for things i've done since 13 (even things that i've lightweight innovated) and since i have all the resources at my disposal now finally, i just decided to allow my most organic/random ideas to come out... & quickly (me and one of my producers "Sleep" came up w/ the idea & tracklist during a #sourhour over Christmas break!)

How has being from Chicago and your upbringing influenced your craft?

Extremely! virtually every well known chicago artist has influenced me in one way or another, especially when i was younger. I grew up listening to house music (real "House Music") like "Perculator" (haha) so once i was old enough to make my own decisions, I was eclectic enough to appreciate everybody im not scared to say...

What do you feel the game is missing that you can offer?

loaded question, but imma try-n be concise... im a very LYRICAL guy, and submursing that into my music enough for the fickle fans to actually PAY ATTENTION and the (hiphop) "Heads" across the board to enjoy. I'm just makin organic music for real people...

Compared to your previous project, "Thank You And You're Welcome", what growth can the listener expect?

better free-form spit, a deeper voice (haha) and better quality...

Fasho... aren't familiar, he's a blogger && producer

w| insane skills. We discussed his music

&& the future of EOP.

What's the origin of your name--Eyes of Phases?

The eyes are the windows of the soul and well all go through different experiences in life meaning phases. So for every track I make I put my soul into to allow the listener to witness what I am going through.

How long have you been producing music?

I am 26 now and I started messing with the beats when I was like 13 or 14 years old.

Describe the style of your music.

Well I think its kind of hard to attach a style to my music because some of my tracks are heavily jazzed influenced and then you might here a techno influenced track next. Even with the various samples used my style of music is just pure raw hip hop.

As far as producers go, who do you look up to?

My biggest influence was my high school english teacher, he used to teach and nod his head and one day I asked what was playing in his head. He told me it was one of his beats and he played the beat for me and surprising I knew where the sample came from that was definitely a moment that change my perspective on wanting to do music. Other producers I look up to is Chuck Brown, Diamond D, The Beatminerz, The Ummah, Dave Fortman, Quincy Jones and Butch Vig to name a few but the list goes on.

Who are some artists that you've worked with?

Gemini 5ive, Pharoah ManC, Daily Planet (DP), James Ison, Ms FeFe D and there are a few more artist to be announced soon.

I love your "Scent Of An Angel" EP, it's clean and classy. What story were you trying to create?

In life we all chase happiness, the main thing that's in the main vein if happiness is heaven. The album is me following the scent or trail of angel to seek happiness. Even though I may not know if that happiness exist something is still driving me to chase my dreams so I am chasing the scent of a angel.

You have the rough draft for "The Pastel Moods" Beat Tape. When can we expect the masterpiece?

Hopefully Pastel Moods will be out by the end of this year, I am really wanting to release the album on wax but time will tell.

What can we anticipate from EOP?

More music, more contest on the blog, in the works right now is a online gaming community for minorities and females without having so much racism and ignorance, some custom design skateboards, and hopefully the Phase5ive project by the end of this year.
